I was wrong. It's "Gaa Niger", not "Gaa Nigeria". It's a annual festivity by Riverine Ijaws celebrating liberation from Biafra.

Here's a post I just found about it: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=448023409720734&id=100064853200754 . Every June, he said.

He mentioned many minority Niger-Delta tribes who celebrate such yearly.

I'd ask him more later but the topic he touched on are very controversial. There's so much buried about the Civil War and I totall y understand the reactions of these people to that movement.
Ok. This is Abonnema (Asari people) celebration in Kalabari

Riverine Ijaw is not a monolith so they should have specified which tribe. The post looks like the usual IPOB post aimed at fomenting hatred.

Ibime vs Obidients.

I’ve noticed something, no matter how many Obidients on Nairaland come for Ibime, he always stands his ground and goes toe-to-toe with all of them. But let just a few APC guys come at him, and he completely folds. Why is that? Ibime is clearly not neutral.

But then again, who in their right mind would be happy that Obi is dragging this country backwards by indirectly aligning with Tinubu? And his supporters still talk like he’s a saint, when in reality, he’s no different from the rest.
APC fans have never tackled me on any issue. When I said Tinubu was clearly a bag man for drug distributors in Chicago, nobody tackled or insulted me

When I showed what auditors earn and exposed his lamba of making millions from audit, nobody tackled or insulted

But state some obvious business as usual from Obi that all Governors do and Obidients will want to regale you with insults and drag the matter as if he is a Saint. Sainthood must not be questioned. Even calculating simple share price where numbers don't lie go turn to insult.

Ibime, you guys have a festivity called "Gaa Nigeria" celebrating the liberation from Biafra after the War?

Earlier on, I was with Prof. Uwem Akpan, the Author of "New York My Village" who flew in for an event and Dr. Udoh who authored "Civil War Child". Both celebrated books are about the Civil War and they are revealing certain things. Prof. Akpan was particularly telling me this.

I never knew some tribes in the Niger-Delta have a yearly festivity celebrating the aftermath of the Civil War.
I don't know about such festival sha

There was civil war even in our area on who to support. Some young men went with Biafra but most of the older people just wanted war to end

By the time war reached Rivers State, Biafra was clearly losing already and Rivers State was almost their last stand. My pops was on his way to join Biafra when word got back that one of his compadre was killed, that's when they stopped him from going

APGA won the elections comfortably and APC came third.
The difference is the result of rigging. They likely would have won it clean, but Ngige would be close enough for them not to take their eyes off the ball,, rigging would happen on all sides and it wasn't a walkover so rigging would be needed to ensure APC don't surprise them, of which detaining El Rufai was the least of the doings.

Theflint1:
PDP was never in the race but Ngige of APC was the one that ended up coming third.

It's one thing to bark that you're in the race, and it's another thing to actually deliver on election day. I'm sure if you went by the noise Olumide Akpata made prior to the Edo election you'd think he'd get more than 3% of votes cast.
Check the result

AGPA got like 180k votes, PDP 97K, APC 96K

Everyone around then knows Ngige is the one to beat and all agenda was against him including stopping voting in his stronghold. Race was AGPA Vs APC, and in that result APC is the one that has been suppressed. The choice was AGPA vs APC and AGPA benefits Jonathan at Federal level from the two of them

Theflint1:
Leave what you think I believe.

My point is on what you've chosen to swallow hook line and sinker while ignoring other plausible explanations like PDP protecting the interests of their candidate that came 2nd, or El-Rufai misrepresenting facts like he's been known to do in times past.
PDP was never in the race, the race was between APGA and APC and the objective and collusion was to stop Ngige and give AGPA the W as AGPA would always deliver for PDP at Federal level

Similar to what Wike and Kwankwaso does for Tinubu which is allow them to win their local election and they will deliver Federal for the ruling Party. That has always been the agreement with AGPA, same thing Obi told Wike when he met him in 2022, "allow us Federal and we will allow you Gubernatorial and all other election"

Same reason Jonathan attempted to make Obi a Minister soon as Obi finished his term despite being in a different party, and same reason he made him SEC Chairman the next year. They are very close and were working together. Everyone knows how this works except you who choose to bury head in the sand. El Rufai knows the parole, he is experienced in the game.

Yea, same way it was said that Jonathan founded Boko Haram.

As you saw that your attempt to provide a logical explanation for how Obi was personally involved didn't fly, na to revert to horses mouth, with the Horse in question being a character like El-Rufai cheesy
Nothing concern me with Boko Haram talks

Is there any Governor not personally invested with stymieing opposition movements and structure in election week. You must be born yesterday or totally believe Obi is a Saint to not do what all Governors do in election week

This is an election between Chris Ngige (APC) a highly popular ex-Governor, widely lauded by Anambrarians as their best Governor in the 4th Republic Vs ruling Party PDP (Nwoye) Vs Obiano (APGA) - a battle for the very survival of AGPA

The election was fraught with irregularities, so detaining El Rufai is the least of the crimes committed in that election and a minor footnote to what Obi and APGA did in that election from ballot snatching to thumb printing to no voting in Idemili North which was Ngige stronghold.

You will not survive in these streets if you're an eternal bull or bear.

When the underlying conditions change, act accordingly.

To be clear, I do not discourage saving in $.
But Ibime's call-to-action on the basis of one indicator, admittedly a reliable historic indicator, does not capture the full picture.

Cardoso invited the FPIs to buy TBills at almost 30% yield last year.
That was responsible for the heavy inflows contributing to FX stability later in the year.
It has remained at the current 1500-1600 band, which if you recall is where I recommended Cardi B set up a defensive perimeter.
As opposed to pushing for another hopeless Crusade to a sub-1000 rate.

The FPIs have been cashing out this year as Cardoso signals an end to the bonanza. July rate is around 16%.
That's responsible for the higher-than-average CBN outflows in the first half of this year.
It is technically an intervention, but when you look under the hood, this is different.

In addition, fundamentals are markedly improved.
No more subsidies. Balance of payment surplus is increasing.
We just hit a six-year high on foreign investment inflows.
The geopolitics portend a topsy-turvy near future so there is no danger of a steep drop in oil prices.

Saving in $ is always great advice in Nigeria.
But the premise is just as important as the advice.
The declining reserve juxtaposed with higher CBN outflows is a red herring.
Save in $ (and invest your $ holdings) because it is a smart thing to do.
Not because of the prognostication of an imminent collapse of the rate spurred by the CBN overextending itself.

-Lord
The how and why does not actually matter

It is a risk-free investment compared to other options

Naira does not have capacity to attack, it only has short-to-medium term capacity to defend, so at worse it stands still in the short to medium term

A risk free investment with almost zero percent chance of downside and good chance of upside is never to be sniffed at.

Stay one place, one moment you're saying it's Obi that arrested him, the next you're saying actually it's the FG that arrested him but it's Obi that told them what to do.

We've seen police officers stand their ground against elected governors in the state ...i.e with Obaseki and even Sanwo-Olu in Lagos.

Tomorrow you'd see them saying Sanwo-Olu was in the know on the end SARS massacre and you'd formulate another contradictory defense for him.
He has said who detained him (Obi), Obidients are bringing his court case against FG (the legal chain of command) as evidence that it was not Obi, but the horses mouth has revealed the actors behind it.

I am not Sanwo Olu spokesman or defender so any extra talk is for your pocket. It does not answer the question of James Nwafor, the serial murderer who reigned for years in Saint Obi jurisdiction. A tight AGPA man who AGPA asked Police to recall to Anambra when he was transferred out.

You are not Obi so even if I attack Obi, it has nothing to do with you to make you start throwing around personal insults.

My advise for you is to focus on the career you or your wife are building in Canada, not pretending to be Obi online and attacking those who criticise Obi

It is normal for El Rufai to sue the responsible agency as courts only recognise official reporting structures. If Wike sends Police to beat me today, I can only sue Police as Wike is not their Commander in Chief. Suing Wike would be hearsay in the eyes of the court. Rufai has sued the SSS legally in court and also identified the hand of Esau behind them outside the courts.

If Monday Okphebolo was to assault Obi in Edo State, I am sure he will do it via a Federal Agency and only the Federal Agency will be liable, not Monday as under the law, they are not supposed to answer to Monday.

You must be a joker.
You are comparing a governor threatening a private citizen from entering his state in the future to a private citizen that was detained by SSS who he confirmed were on orders from Abuja and sued them to court.

That na English renovation?
Nothing happens in a State without a Governors consent, knowledge and clearance, and often his prompting, especially when he is chummy with the President like Obi was with Jonathan

So Obi can speak English all he wants, El Rufai knew the hand of Esau that detained him. Fight in Anambra was between APGA and APC and nothing consine PDP in Abuja except by Obis prompting

Same way Obi was unaware of James Nwafors abuses and murders in Anambra because "Police is a Federal Agency" when we all know Governors have major influence if not complete control over Police postings and behaviour in their states. Using English and technicalities to renovate themselves.

It's irrelevant. His investment was in 10% equity in the parent company, not to bring the brewery to Anambra as it was already in Anambra. The IGR is being generated by the PAYE paid by the brewery workers.

This is like Tesla plant is already located in Berlin and Berlin Mayor going to buy Tesla shares. He can't say his investment brought Tesla to Berlin to provide x amount of IGR, cos Tesla is already providing that with or without him buying shares that nobody sent him. He is simply investing Berlin money.

The equity stake was a pure investment decision and has proven to be a terrible one.

And what is the IGR being generated sef, about N26m Naira per month or less than £11k.

Obi investment $12.6m

Anambra shares 407,321,264 x Share price N14.30 = N5.8bln = $3.4m

So projects like Akpabio stadium, Anambra Airport by Obiano or the Ebonyi Airport by umahi might not be generating more IGR than the much maligned and trolled hero beer,WOW!!!!
The airports above are the usual white elephant projects to launder money. In Nigeria, only Lagos, Abuja, PH, Kano and Kaduna can make a financial case for an airport. Infact PH, Kano and Kaduna financial feasibility is not watertight but they should get close enough and we can allow them as hubs for domestic passengers to disembark and find their way to other states by foot. Warri and Akwa-Ibom may have small airstrips in service of their oil industries.

That said, Obis $12.6m investment in SABMILLER is now worth $3.4m today going by today's share price of N14.30 for International Breweries Limited

Note that SABMILLER had already built the brewery in Anambra therefore any IGR generated today is not a result of the investment as the brewery was already built and the IGR is mostly generated by PAYE payments from the brewery going by your screenshot

Obi simply bought a 10% equity stake in the company on behalf of Anambra as an investment. In terms of money management, a very poor investment decision to put all of Anambras eggs in a single basket, an investment that has yielded a negative 77% return ignoring present discounted values or Cost of Capital

I don't trust our TDs till transfer window close. You have Gittens/Pedro/George for left wing, Palmer/Neto/Estevao for right wing plus Pedro if needed. You have Pedro/Delap/Guiu for striker. What is there to discuss with regards another attacking signing. Close the window and let these boys play and not be pushed out by over competition
