being a european citizen does not mean you now own europe and can come up with a silly claim that it is now an extension of your nativeland.

you say nobody should lay claim to anything, can you kindly go back and tell me what the original poster was trying to do. excuse me!
Politics / Re: MEND Threatens To Blow Up The 3rd Mainland Bridge by ibis: 7:33pm On Oct 19, 2007
dear all,

i am appalled at the way some of you speak so callously about this whole niger delta issue. have you ever been to the area? do you realize how long
we have peacefully agitated for a change? have you heard of adaka boro and ken saro- wiwa?

lets go down memory lane a bit, nigeria after independence was a true federal structure. 3 regions all self sustaining. with what u have develope yourself.
the yorubas had "cocoa". the revenue they made from it they used solely for their developement. same for the igbos "coal" and the hausas "groundnut".

then we discover oil in the niger delta. the rest of Nigeria forgets the regionalism. and the federal govt lays claim to all revenue from oil. NOTE the niger delta never got a chance, not a day to use their own resources to develope the place. instead all the revenue went to a federal purse and used to develope the rest of Nigeria and this people forgotten.

we have been called mumus (because we have been crying peacefully for 47 years) have you been to the Niger delta? abject poverty!!!oil exploration has
ruined the land this people used to farm on. what we have now are big oil pipes criss crossing the land!, spillages have killed the fish, the people are backward, no bridges, schools, jobs or hospitals. ask any youth corper who was posted there.

47 years of peaceful pleading and begging to be remembered. for Gods sake we are the ones sustaining the Nigerian economy right now.how much is it worth to provide jobs, build schools and develope the area? in rivers state, most people only know Port harcourt. why? because its the only developed city in the whole state!!!! warri the oil city of the delta is just a dirty village.

please let us call a spade a spade. it is Nigeria that has messed up. it is Nigeria that must redress this wrong. because it is Nigeria that gains from this oil while the people suffer the effects of oil exploration, the emancipation of the Niger Delta has come! ken saro wiwa and issac adaka boro where killed when agitating peacefully. the wound has been festering for a while, now it is stinking! all we want is fairplay!

in stead of Nigerians to speak up about how this injustice was left for so long and raising solutions you are all here screaming blue murder!
Politics / Re: MEND Threatens To Blow Up The 3rd Mainland Bridge by ibis: 7:48pm On Oct 17, 2007
@ mamajama

why use terms like wiping out the region and calling them hooligans??

do you know how short changed this people have been over time? they do have a genuine cause for crying out loud!!!!!!

let us quickly find the solution to redress a wrong that should not have been allowed to get up to this stage!

@ow11

you have spoken well grin

@ FSU

so your theory is that based on the number of property people from a particular tribe own in any state they do not indigenously belong to,
they now own that state and can lay claim to it as part of their fathers land?

please, igbo people, buy all the houses in ph if you like. it still does not make you a "son of the soil"

come and take port harcourt, we are waiting!

Business / Re: University Or Business? by ibis: 10:38am On Oct 16, 2007
no matter how successful you have been in business, there is always this sort of "void"
its always there that you lack formal education. this void makes people in this category aspire
to marry educated wives/ send their children to the best schools. this they feel is their pride and boast about
these spouses/kids accomplishments to feel up their own void.

i look at it this way. education can give money but business can never give you education.

i learnt to swim at 24 and its been sooo much fun since then.
got one of the coaches at shell club ph to teach me (a really skilled ijaw guy. they are really good as it is said their mammas throw them into the water once they are born grin)

i love swimming, i can do laps and can keep my head above surface the whole time. i can also float. ie i just lie on my back on top of the water without moving a limb and i just do not sink. i can fall asleep doing it. i think the secret is total relaxation and being at peace. i can also thread the water.

from my experience, u are never too old to learn!!!!!
Family / I Want My Daughter To Wear A Chastity Ring by ibis: 7:58pm On Oct 10, 2007
when my daughter turns 12 and i believe she is able to fully understand the significance,
i will get her a chastity ring. it is a sign of commitment to chastity and remaining pure till she gets
married.(in accordance with my Christian beliefs) as i feel it will act as a sort of "conscience guard" ie like a reminder if temptation comes.

a friend of mine feels its not a good idea,

what do you guys think?

Religion / Re: How Often Do U Sincerely Pay Your Tithes? Christians Only by ibis: 10:43am On Oct 09, 2007
the bible says we are to pay tithes to the chuch so that there may be money to use to do Gods work!
it is robbing God not to do so and at the end it is to your gain as there are so many blessings attached to it!

@ladapo. to help you so that you will not be tempted to not pay ur tithe( the devil will give u 101 reasons of what else u can use the money to do)

if u earn a salary, make a direct debit standing order with your bank to rmove it and pay into ur church account once u are paid. it helps as u do not even get to see the money.

also write a cheque that u just drop at church.

God bless you!

changing Nigeria starts from u! we all go round looking for flimsy excuses for the disgusting stuff we do all in the name of "present economic situation"
quit playin the blame game and get a life!

@ kencares, remember easy come easy goes! u are just a plain thief and have shown you have nothing else to offer to this nation. the bible says "there is a way that seemeth right unto man but at the end thereof is folly" you will reap every thing later that you have sowed now!!!

Nigeria is getting better and i would work and contribute my own quota to her progress! grin

Food / Re: How To Prepare Stew by ibis: 8:09pm On Oct 02, 2007
scoop ur tin tomato into a blender and blend it with some onions first or when blending your fresh tomatos, join the tin tomatoes with it and blend it with onions.

then when you put in the oil to start makin ur stew you put in the whole mixture so they fry together from the start. this takes out the raw sour strong taste that tin toatoes can give.

THIS OSU THING IS DEEPLY ENTRENCHED IN IGBO SOCIETY.

i have born again friends who still say they cant marry osu not only for the stigmatization, but it has been proven that osus bring bad luck if u marry them.

Kema Chikwe former aviation minister and current ambassadorial nominee is rumored to be osu.

it was said that after she left as minister and tried to contest for governor of Imo State, the people where like tufiakkwa, that she had better keep holding federal positions but God forbid for anosu to be governor!!!!!!!

igbo kwenu na wa oh!

Culture / A Woman Retaining Her Maiden Name After Marriage? by ibis: 9:53pm On Sep 30, 2007
its an on-going fad in the western world,

do you think it is against African culture?

i know a few friends who hyphen their maiden and married names making it a compound name e.g Alele-Williams,

the argument is that so the woman at least retains her original identity to an extent ie it shows her true roots.

what do you think?

who says the Ikwere people are Igbo? the average Ikwere man gets very upset if you call him Igbo.
PORT HARCOURT IS NOT PART OF IGBOLAND PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

the city of Port-Harcourt is jointly owned by the Ikwere and Okrika people (off Ijaw stock;who are found at the waterfront areas of Abuloma, marine base, amadi-ama etc)

Rivers State is Rivers state and is not and can never be part of Igboland, Please do not get me started! angry

Religion / Re: Catholic Most Privileged Church, The Pillar And Foundation Of Truth by ibis: 10:20pm On Sep 28, 2007
Our minds can be deceived, and so can the minds of bishops and popes. Only the Bible is totally trustworthy. The Bible warns us:

“Beware lest any man spoil [ruin] you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Colossians 2:cool

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” (Proverbs 14:12; also see Proverbs 16:25)

When religious traditions conflict with the plain meaning of Scripture, then we need to discard those traditions. We cannot afford to do otherwise, because our eternal destiny is at stake.
Religion / Re: Catholic Most Privileged Church, The Pillar And Foundation Of Truth by ibis: 11:24am On Sep 28, 2007
hi all.

this is my 2 cents.

everyone is to work out their salvation with fear and trembling. on that day when we stand before God almighty, there will be no excuse. nothing like " this was what i was born into" or "i was mislead". God gave us the solution to all things "THE BIBLE" it is the standard and we are to measure all we are told, beliefs and practices done in our respective churches against it. the bible is the truth and truth alone.

i was shocked when my househelp who is catholic said she does not have a bible as everything they need is put in the church bulletin. wow! please brethren, take the bible and search out things for your self so that the holy spirit may work and reveal deep mysteries and revelations to u. in the last day, there will be where to run and no one to blame. On that day u will stand alone and give account. We are holding on to traditions, religious ceremonies, the familiar, things we were born into, all these do not make it right!. search out the truth for yourself.

anything that does not tally with the bible, i dont care who said it or where it emanated from is a lie of the devil!

LET GOD BE TRUE AND EVERYMAN A LIAR!!!!!!!
