Education / Re: She Passed 3 Good Schools Which One Should I Pick? by ibis: 7:57pm On Apr 06, 2015
uboma:

Since you all reside in PHC, why not source for a good school for your daughter there to avoid the stress and possible hazard associated with traveling.
Another advantage of enrolling your child in a school close to you is for better supervision and monitoring.

Thanks. makes a lot of sense. And thank you for dealing with the pest!

Education / She Passed 3 Good Schools Which One Should I Pick? by ibis: 10:03am On Apr 06, 2015
My daughter passed the common entrance exams into 3 very good schools

1) Loyola Jesuit College Abuja
2) Jesuit Memorial College Port Harcourt
3) Graceland International School Port Harcourt

I do not have indepth information about each of the schools. Anyone who attended any of the schools (or knows anyone who attended)should please tell me about their experience and what the pros and cons are.

We live in Port Harcourt. taking into cognizance travel risk and current security situation in Nigeria. my parameters are a good christian school with sound academic standards, morals, good boarding facilities and an all round experience for the child.

Thanks for your advice.

ritux: I was at the Cinema yesterday for the movie. I think it is okay. For the fact that the spent lots of money in producing this film, I will give them thumbs up. The only negative side for me was that I don't like the way it ended.

I like the guy Ugwu most especially when he was teaching and also when his master asked him not to call him Sir smiley

Please why was Ejiofor always called revolutionary lover? I still dont get.

7/10

Finally, for those people thinking about Nigeria on the brink or wanting Nigeria to break up, please go watch this movie. If we are going to have a peaceful break up which I doubt will ever happen, fine no problem. But if it is going to be in the form of fighting and war....hmmmnnn let's remain the way we are.

My parents told me stories about the civil war. Me, I don't want to experience it.

One Nigeria

hi. if you read the book which is more detailed, he was called revolutionary lover because he believed in Biafra and what it stood for.

Culture / What Is Your Attitude/opinion Concerning African Arts And Handicrafts by ibis: 9:46am On Nov 10, 2012
Hello, ive had an African Interior decor store for about a year now (www.facebook.com/itobys) and have mixed reviews on it. I started my business because i have a deep love for anything African. Im intrigued by the skill and expertise that goes into the creation of such beautiful pieces. I sell artwork, carvings, hosehold, cloths, shoes, fabrics, beads.. The whole range and i offer ethnic interior decorating services ie i come and transform your home if you want an African theme.

The issue is i am a serious christian and have been questioned severally about why i promote 'juju'. Im told that most other people in the culture promoting industry are into ifa or oshun worship and a child of God has no business being in it because carvings normally have spirits which are invoked into them.

What is your opinion? Do you like African art and handicrafts? Do you think it is wrong to delve into this area as a christian? Are there certain no go areas?

I dont kow if this should be in culture or the religion sector. Topic is intertwined.

Thanks.
Nairaland / General / Re: How Has The Ban On Okadas In Lagos Affected You? by ibis: 7:07am On Oct 24, 2012
Lagosians.....like every new introduction people will miss what you had before but adjust with time. Okadas have been banned in port harvourt for a while now. The peace, the bliss, not having to check your blindspot all the time or struggle on already narrow roads with honking, impatient, dare devil bike men. Seeing a bike pass you is so unusual and its basically dispatch men and private motorcycles who ride carefully because they are not rushing to quickly deposit one customer and pick another. Safer, better and more peaceful. Thumbs up Fashola!
