Nairaland / General / The Truth Behind The Two Bell Helicopters Supposedly Imported By Unknown Persons by ibitzbarlow(m): 8:40pm On Jan 28, 2017 |
Armoured Helicopters: Governor Wike reveals that RSG wrote to FG to hand them over to NAF Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has revealed that he officially wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari asking that the two armoured helicopters bought by the immediate past administration in the state .be handed over to the Nigerian Air Force. He explained that he wrote the letter following the high custom duty charged for the helicopters and the refusal of the present administration to grant the Rivers State Government the waiver to clear the two armoured helicopters. A statement issued by Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media informed that the governor spoke during an interview with editors of Sun Newspapers Titles on Saturday in Port Harcourt. The governor said that it was unfortunate that Security Agencies would resort to political propaganda and outright lies, when the facts of the two armoured helicopters are public knowledge. He said: "These helicopters were imported by the immediate past administration. When I assumed office,we wrote to the Federal government that it was strictly for security use. What am I going to use armoured helicopters for? "In any case, where will the Rivers State Government get money at this time to import armoured helicopters. The previous administration imported it because they had the money. "I went to to the Federal Government to give me a waiver for us to clear the helicopters, but the Federal Government refused. "I wrote a letter to the President and to assure him that the helicopters are meant for security purposes, it should be handed over to the Nigerian Air Force ". The governor added: "I am surprised that they have started propaganda and political falsehood on the said armoured helicopters. What kind of country are they turning Nigeria into ? "We stated that we cannot pay the custom duties because the helicopters are not for commercial use. They are to be used to monitor the creeks and track criminals. "I wrote to the President to give the helicopters to the Airforce. It is shocking that the custom would turn around to claim that they inpounded the helicopters. The Chief of Staff to the President admitted that I have done well when I wrote the letter to the President ". It will be recalled that the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi in December 2012 announced the payment of two helicopters for security surveillance. Politics / Re: Traditional Rulers Walk Out On Osinbajo In Delta State (Pics, Video) by ibitzbarlow(m): 12:46pm On Jan 17, 2017 |
CoolFreeday: This is not selfishness. It is about respect and regard for the people they represent. You come to my home for a supposed meeting for peace and conflict resolution. Knowing the dynamics of Delta State especially the Warri axis, one would say the Osinbanjo team was poor at managing the different interests represented there. You paid courtesy visits to the Ijaw and Itsekiri monarchs, only invited the Urhobo and Isoko Monarchs to the meeting, yet still didnt avail them of high table seats; to them and the State, you have clearly shown your preffered tribes/people and have relegated the supposed biggest tribe in the State to the background. That's unacceptable. Their participating in that meeting in the context of the described scenario without a correction/objection would mean a tacit approval/acceptance of the new order. The Monarchs did well by drawing the attention of the conveners of the meeting to the gross error/contraption. |

This is the best news to come out of our Country since GEJ's congratulatory call to PMB. Our Gallant Soldiers have been wonderful and courageous even in the face of serious logistics/welfarist distractions. I hail them. Thank you our soldiers. The Governent should reciprocate this victory by promoting all the soldiers involved. |

This is lovely and the way to go. I love the idea. Besides, reducing/eliminating govt's loss of revenue, it will also mitigate the stealing of vehicles whilst enhancing recovery of already stolen vehicles. The policy will also build our in-country automobiles ownership database . Thumbs up guys.... |
Politics / Re: Protest Against Wike In Abuja For Killing Of Police Officers In Rivers Rerun by ibitzbarlow(m): 3:34pm On Dec 20, 2016 |
magoo10: They have done the interrogation and gotten the name of the sponsor of the group. The quiet in the state and the police suggests that Wike's camp isnt responsible. Snippets of media information has it that one Kachi Nwokocha is the sponsor of the gang. Some blogs also have it that the said Kachi Nwokocha is an APC leader and a former commissioner of Power under RCA. My thinking is that this protest is aimed at deflecting attention from the police investigation and disclosure. This protest is political and deceitful. 1 Like |

engrsyer: Abonnema has long sought to be recognized in this manner. We have long agitated to make the stool a first class stool, and that of the Amayanabo of Kalabari, a classless stool ( that's above first class). Politically, Kalabari having only one First class King, has been short-changing especially considering the number of 1st class kings some tribes in the state has. |

ddippset: Is this how you want your country to be? Running a vicious circle of election rigging and violence aided by those whose duty it is to provide security? Yesterday, PDP did it; we cried and complained and voted in "Change" hoping to stop these anomalies in our polity.Today, APC - the Change we brought in, is doing worse things continuing the vicious circle. Tomorrow, it may be APGA and they too would want revenge thus continuing the vicious circle. Shouldn't we condemn and rise against this barbaric acts? 4 Likes 1 Share |

scholes0: That is not correct completely. In informal settings, any of the variants is acceptable if there is proper communication and understanding. However, for official purposes, as a Nigerian you must stick with British English. I bet you cant spell "Labour" as "labor" in a "Use of English" examination and expect to be svored correct. The computer you talked about has provision in its language setting for you to choose the variant of English you want. Most laptops are from the US or from China by US companies and so they come with the default American English setting. It's your choice to use it that way or change the Language to British or any other English variant. 1 Like |

[quote author=CliffordOrji post=51770480] One wouldn't need to be a Rocket Scientist to know that the operations of illegal Oil refinery's and Pipeline Vandalism are the cause of the soot, but the RVSG and FG are still yet to find out where the soot came from. It just further confirms that all our politicians are useless and good for nothing. They are more concerend about their own selfish political gains rather than the welfare and safety of the masses./quote] You haven't said snything different or particularly useful in finding the location of the source of the soot. Illegal bunkering/refining or the activities of a few companies whose operations involve incomplete combustion may be responsible but where they are located is the million dollar question, you and I cannot answer for now. Oil bunkering activities are in the creeks and not in PH while the unwholesome companies may be in PH or its environs. Another likely source comes to mind - the slaughterhouses(Abattoirs) in Mile 3 and around Portharcourt Zoo. They make a hell of smoke/soot due to their roasting activities. [ |

seunfly: Re-election is no excuse. Baba shouldn't pre- occupy himself with that. He should put the nation first and ahead of his personal interest/ambition. Too many times have we been made to suffer because of the personal ambitions of those we trusted with power. Nationalism should be the priority. Mandela comes to mind in this light; Especially about patriotism, nationalism, healing and bonding a fractured country and working for the people while in government. He had SA as his priority even over his own immediate family. One thinks, Buhari will be of same mould though that is yet to be seen. Nigeria is waiting.... 1 Like |

Politics / Re: Massive Spill As Militants Attack Forcados Export Line Again. by ibitzbarlow(m): 6:18am On Nov 17, 2016 |
Akainzo: It is not right to condemn what you don't know. Oil pipelines are not houses or bricks. They have design life and conditions. Most pipelines have a 30year design life and set operational conditions. If they are operated above or against their design parameters, be sure that they wont even last the design life. Most of these pipelines should have undergone sectional replacement. The journalism/report is crap. Cause of the spill is yet to be ascertained but see the sensational caption...It smacks of a deliberate attempt to paint the region in bad light or the security forces/FG as non-performing. We dont need to cast aspersions or abuse any group or persons , until we know the cause of the spill. It shouldn't be the usual blame game. We are all affected and in this together as Nigerians. One way or the other our livelihoods are derived from the oil industry or its proceeds. I am directly affected so, it may pain me more. Let's say no to pipeline vandalism, economic sabotage, Niger Delta underdevelopment/Slavery and/or Operational/facility neglect. I rep: #TeamNotoPipelineVandalism #TeamNoToEcnomicSabotage #TeamNoToFacilityNeglect #TeamDevelopeNigerDelta #TeamNoToNigerDeltaSlavery 1 Like |

Good Evening guys. I am currently developing a project cost template for an oil and gas plant maintenance. My assignment requires the use of real life figures and scenarios. I am currently stuck on scheduling the required number of times per annum for OEM vendor support and maintenance of an Emerson DeltaV DCS. I also need the required staffing and cost for each Vendor Maintenance service. Additional information on License renewal and upgrades as regards cost and frequency will also be appreciated. Please, I need all the System Engineers, Delta V DCS experts and any other experienced hand to assist me in getting these facts right. Thanks guys. |
