IslamRe: Death Of Jesus, evidence From The Quran. by IbrahimB: 1:47am On Nov 28, 2009
1. There are other verses of the Qur'an that refer to Isa's ascension:

But Allah raised (rafa'ah) him (i.e. Isa) up unto Himself. And Allah is Ever All-Powerful, All-Wise

Qur'an 4:158

This verse clearly refers to the same incident as Qur'an 5:117 i.e. Allah's foiling of the Jewish conspiracy to kill Prophet Isa (A.S).

In this verse, Allah uses rafa'ah to describe the incident. Since they refer to the same incident we can on the strength of this, say
that the tawwafa in Qur'an 5:117 meant to take up or raise  and not to cause to die.

I concede: tawwafa lexically doesn't mean to raise (rafa'ah) (just as it lexically does not mean death). However within this context, we should understand it to mean Isa's (AS) ascension i.e being raised.

2. About the meaning of "tawwafa". Lexically, the word means "to take in full". This being its real meaning, its derivations wafa, ifa, and istifa are used to convey that sense.

It's oft application to death is only figurative but that does not change its actual meaning and that has not deterred it's being used to take other meanings as exemplified by Qur'an 6:60

According to ibn Taymiyyah "Al-tawaffi, in the Arabic language, means: to exact fully or take in full. It takes three forms; the first: to take in sleep; the second: to take in death; and the third: to take the soul and the body all together.

Thus Isa (A.S) was raised or taken in full (i.e. body and soul to heaven)

Reference: http://www.as-sidq.org/isa.html.

3. Where is Isa (A.S) now?
According to the ahaadith on Miraj and Isra, Isa is presently in the 2nd Heaven and the Prophet met him and even gave a description of his physical
attributes.

4. Hadith and Verses indicating his 2nd Coming

Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, surely (Jesus,) the son of Mary will soon descend amongst you and will judge mankind justly (as a Just Ruler)' (See Fateh Al Bari, Page 302 Vol 7)

Hadith - Sahih Bukhari 4.658, Narrated Abu Huraira, r.a.

Allah's Apostle said "How will you be when the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you and he will judge people by the Law of the Qur'an and not by the law of Gospel (Fateh-ul Bari page 304 and 305 Vol 7).

The Hour will not be established until the son of Maryam (as) (i.e. ‘Isa (as)) descends amongst you as a just ruler.
(Bukhari)

And he (i.e. Isa (AS)) will be known sign for the coming of the hour.

Quran 43:61

i.e. when Isa comes the Hour is impending.

5. The death of Isa (A.S)
Isa is a son of Adam and thus will die like all other mortals. His death will not be in the hands of the Jews (as indicated by the Qur'an) but naturally during his second coming:

He will destroy the Antichrist and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die. The Muslims will pray over him.  (Abu Dawud, Book 37 No. 4310)

Man only dies once, we conclude on the strength of this hadith, that he couldn't then have died at that time as that will mean dying twice.

--------------------------------
PS

This is the majority view of muslim scholars: that Isa was raised in body and spirit to the heavens and that he will die naturally on his second coming.

However the Ahmadis believe (that although he wasn't crucified) he nevertheless went on to die naturally. And more than that, married and also bore children. So I understand where you're coming from.

And Allah knows best
IslamRe: Death Of Jesus, evidence From The Quran. by IbrahimB: 7:32pm On Nov 27, 2009
This are some of the verses that speaks about the death of Jesus.
'When Allah said, 'O Jesus, I will cause thee to die (a natural death), and will exalt thee to Myself, and will clear thee from the charges of those who disbelieve, and will place those who follow thee above those who disbelieve, untill the Day of resurrection; then to Me shall be your return, and i will judge between you concerning that wherein you differ.(3:55)
",  And I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them, but since Thou didst cause me to die, Thou hast been the Watcher over them;, "5:117
And Muhammad is only a Messenger. Verily, all Messengers have passed away before him. (3:145).
The Arabic word "tawwaffika" has various meanings it could mean death and it could also mean to raise or take up. While death, "maut", invariably leads to "tawwaffa" the reverse is not the case. The proper name for death in Arabic is "maut"

And perhaps to prove that, in the very next sura, 6:60, Allah used the same word "tawwaf" to refer to a non-death scenario:

"It is He Who takes (yatawaffakum) your souls by night, and has knowledge of all that you have done by day,
then He raises (wakes) you up again , "

Muslims believe that Jesus was miraculously saved by God from the Jews, raised up to Heaven and during the last days will return (We are in agreement with Christians here), be a King/ Ruler and fight and triumph over the scourge of the Anti-christ and restore monotheism.

According to traditions, He will be a contemporary of the Mahdi ,

You said you believe in the Quran and Hadith. It's sad you could only quote the Quran to support your claims.

It's sad you ignored the numerous traditions that indicate that Isa did not die but was raised up to Heaven.

Whenever the companions did not understand a verse of the Quran they referred the matter to the Prophet - Have you done that?
IslamRe: Sallah Greetings to all Nairaland Muslim Ummah by IbrahimB: 10:04pm On Nov 26, 2009
.

1. The shaving of pubic hair b4 Eid
2. Cutting of nails
3. Ghusl (Bath)
4. The saying of Praises to and from the Eid ground(Allahu akbaruallahuAkbarullahuAkbar,
5. Wearing of your best Clothe
6. Leaving the Eid ground from a different Route
7. Not eating before Eid
Please it should be noted that if you are to make a sacrifice, you should not shave your hair (or any bodily hair) or cut off nails, until after Eid.

Also not eating before Eid is only required from the person making the sacrifice; if you're not making sacrifice, then no harm to have breakfast before Eid.

Yes illusion2, it's a religious section and what's so irreligious about what she said? Cleanliness is next to Godliness smiley

IslamRe: Sallah Greetings to all Nairaland Muslim Ummah by IbrahimB: 6:41pm On Nov 26, 2009
@law- Calling the ahmadi kufar is improper and can result to lose of iman the same thing with the shiite muslim.  According to my own view if there is no other praying ground than the ahmadi site then he has no option than to pray there, Allah said in the Quran that there is no burden upon every soul
"Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope" Q 2: 286

No Abuzola999.

There is divergent opinion on the status of the Eid, the view of Imam Malik is that it is a strongly recommended sunnah http://islamqa.com/en/ref/48983.

The interpretation of the verse is that when there is difficulty preventing a person discharging an obligation, Allah does not burden him with that obligation.

The option of following an Ahmadi in salah is not an alternative (once his aqeedah becomes apparent to you).

So even if the Eid is a fard (and not a strongly recommended sunnah), Allah will not require it of you if the only Eid ground is of an Ahmadi just as it won't be required of you if you have to undertake a very difficult journey in order to observe the prayer.

The verse you quoted does not support your verdict because you say ",  he has no option but to pray there" while the verse says there is. The verse was revealed to ease matters for muslims and not make them difficult.

The status of ahmadis is well discussed among scholars and I do not wish to raise controversies at this period of celebration.

Happy Eid everyone smiley

PS
----
The poster is a lady; some scholars are of the view that though it is highly recommended for ladies to observe the eid prayer, it is not compulsory.
IslamRe: Sallah Greetings to all Nairaland Muslim Ummah by IbrahimB: 1:10pm On Nov 26, 2009
i have a qst pls. If one is in a town where onky the Ahmadiyyah group offer the eid prayer, can one pray behind them? Please note that many circumstances prevent this person from travelling to th net town to pray.
Many scholars don't regard the Ahmadiyyah as muslims. This is because they believe that there was another prophet after the Prophet (SAW). In any case the Eid is a sunnah (not a fard) if I'm not mistaken, so you are not compelled to observe it in this circumstance. If you wish, you can observe the Eid at home with family.

Stay blessed.

You said there are ppl like you in the house? Did you mean they are temparamental too?

If so I suspect you guys are not compatible? A first step, if its within your power, is to relocate elsewhere.
I know it may sound like running away from a problem, but sometimes when we remove some people from our lives things get so much easier.

Sometimes things just cannot work between some people and we think there is a problem, where there isn't ,

Secondly, try to identify what makes you "spark" and avoid it. Try to find humour in things. Find new hobbies that will distract your mind away
from your stressors,

Good luck!

Not old either.

A young president doesn't automatically give you a good president.

RomanceRe: Dealing With A Partner Who Never Says Sorry by IbrahimB: 4:26pm On Oct 30, 2009
It's the number 1 thing that destroys a marriage - the inability to admit mistakes and take corrections. It's plain immaturity. It's an attitude that completely overshadows whatever other good quality the person has. If the problem persists, better go your separate ways because greater heart-aches await you in future.

go to hell
Why?

@Topic: It's just very unfortunate that medical procedures, particularly in the West, could be applied simply because one can pay for it. There needs to be more regulations. The doctor wouldn't have carried out that operation, at least not openly, if regulations were in place. Sex-change should only be done to fix physical deformities from birth and not to some whimsical reasons. Look, the poster's problem could well have been treated by psycho-theraphy!

@Poster: I think your situation requires much more competence than you can get here. I wish you well.
FoodRe: Gari And Mango, Is It Dangerous? by IbrahimB: 11:37pm On Oct 29, 2009
Do you think any combination of any sort of food or fruit is dangerous. , Who or which doctors or dietician decides which combination is good or bad?
Yes there are certain kinds of food THAT shouldn't be taken together for health reasons. For example, you shouldn't take fruits immediately after a meal of carbohydrate, better to take it some 10 minutes before.

Have accidentally tried it, realising only after the deed has been done smiley I think it's just one of those little stories children tell each other,

@ Ibrahim
Actually marriage is a wonderful thing, the predicament feeling the pressure to settle down and not nessesarily being able to talk to the person i love about it because he might be heartbroken.
Not sure I understood that. Maybe you don't really understand your feelings on this issue as well? Need some time out?
FamilyRe: Is It Normal?: Wanting Out Of The Relationship by IbrahimB: 11:14pm On Oct 20, 2009
I am not selfish, at least i dont feel that way. Im not cheating on my bf or tryiing to leave him i just dont feel like getting married. He didnt ask me to marry him, he just talks about it more now than ever( maybe his family is influencing him). Im going to be 23 the end of this year and finishing my first degree. I just feel too young to be in this predicament. Here in the States i know people who get married at 40 to their one true love after being married and divorced early in their 20s. I dont want to rush into something and then end up in a divorce because that is the thread now.
Is Marriage a predicament?

@topic
its normal and expected of anyone to leave 'good' for 'better'
Just like it sometimes happens that we leave the Good to slip by and ultimately, when desperation sets in, settle for the "not so good" or the "not good at all" years after, You never can tell?

@poster
If you don't feel like, then don't go for it. But I hope this would be a decision you will still be happy with 5 years after.

Good luck with any action you eventually choose. Cheers!
RomanceRe: How To End An Affair? (I'm Married) by IbrahimB: 9:02am On May 06, 2009
I really like Nigerians. They have a unique way of solving problems. For instance anything good about a neighbor is theirs, anything bad about themselves is blamed on somebody. I am about to enter the same situation and when I read this thread, I thought the guy was spying on me. I am about to sleep with a very beautiful, wealthy and intelligent girl who knows I'm married but doesn't care. I have intentionally being putting this thing off but she keeps seducing me.

If I tell u what I go through to beat the temptation, you will be shocked. Ask all the ladies here how easy it is to 'FLOOR' a man. My fellow guys also knows what it mean to be tempted by a beautiful rich girl.

I said I am about to enter into the same situation because I have finally given her a date. 22nd MAY, that we are going to 'DO THE DO'.

Don't underestimate it. Beware and those who criticize, I pray it happens to you.

Good Day
Obviously someone has not profited from all the good counsel given on this thread
RomanceRe: How To End An Affair? (I'm Married) by IbrahimB: 2:37pm On May 05, 2009
I have read very interesting comments on this thread. Some very shallow, others very deep with wisdom that is profitable to direct. Those who chose to condemn did the wrong thing. For them, they need to realise that God is and they should quit applying for His position- The Judge.
Whether made-up or true, hey, lets put up a healthy summit such that those who are passing thru this situation can learn from it and have a way for be free from it. You cannot run away from the truth that things like this do happen and some never got the chance to save their marriage. Am sure the moderator knew why he edited the original heading and placed it on the front page.
There are challenges of different shapes in marriages but none i guess put up a storm like infidelity. Thats the whole basis of this thread. I am still catching fun. i read some comments with burstful laughter and it helps to take away stress to a certain degree. Just like somebody said, REDISCOVER YOUR MARRIAGE if you find yourself going thru something like this. And for the unmarried ladis like my dear  smileystarstruck , dating a married man isnt worth the stress it brings. What is not yours Can never be yours.
Keep the healthy discussion going.

Am enjoying every bit of it. In life there is always THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY. We co-habit so, we aint gat no choice. So my brethren, keep it going!!!!
Next time you want to create a healthy summit you should do so without giving us a cock-and-bull story
