ckkris: National Assembly will never be able to pass a law to islamise Nigeria. If they try, they will discover the limits of Southern Nigeria subsidising the North since 1914. But the North has effectively been integrating with the South, but not as fast as Northern masses (talakawa), and the Southerners, generally desire to see. People like Sanusi will always use the instruments of The State to delay such massive integration, in order retain whatever remains of their previously absolute control of Northern peoples. And how is having non-interest banks synonymous with islamizing Nigeria? . Has the Islamic Bank of Britain now islamized Britain? . Instead of your knee-jerk reaction against anything islamic why don't you go and educate yourself about what it is all about? Perhaps, you may even come out with a stronger argument to support your case. |

davidylan: Isnt it amazing how these cowards suddenly get brave when they are on the christian boards? Logicboy would never dare say anything close to this in the muslim section... he would have been summarily banned and in fear for his life. Can't david make a point without mentioning islam or muslims? :-/ |
Aghahowa's equalizer against Senegal in 2002. Whoa! ![]() |

There's hope of course. In addition to specifying ur class of degree (2:2), I'd also write down the CGPA (3.49) on my CV. It could make a recruiter look more favourably at your application. Demonstrable skills and a good record of achievement should be your priority in any case. Cheers. |
So why the story in the first place? Who's trying to pull the honourable minister down? What was the initial motive for this story :-/ |
Riba_man: Again, I disagree with your position. When was the *other* time we disagreed. ![]() Riba_man: Are you going to compare the extent of damage that has been done to Nigeria by the menfolk, to what little mistakes some women have made. Another proof of why my position may not be as hopeless as you think, is the role women have played in the background, not in the foreground, of everyday Nigerian life.Little mistakes eh? :s The question to ask is: Would women have steered this country better if they were the ones in government since 1960? Through the civil war, maitatsine crisis, the oil windfall - will they have done better? Men and women don't act in isolation of one another. The women are just as corrupt as the men. I wonder what gives you the impression that women intrinsically make better leaders than men? The point I'm trying to make is we should elect capable representatives - men or women - to lead us. To vote a candidate simply because that candidate is female would be silly to say the least. :/ |
Riba_man: I disagree with you, in fact very vehemently!Well, women only recently started featuring in government - so we should be comparing percentages not absolute numbers. From what I've seen of female office holders,it's the same deal as what we've been getting from the men folk. Nigerian women have proven equally adept at corruption as their male counterpart. And when they're wives or girlfriends they've often been accessories to their husbands'/boyfriend's escapades. For example refer to the James Ibori story.. |
Eclipse and GNU g++ for me. |
This question is a bit silly really and is just a convoluted way of the OP saying, "I cheat". We could also churn out similar rubbish like "All men beat their wives", "All Nigerians are corrupt" or "All brazilians like football". |

Beaf:He certainly has no right to enforce it on people who do not share his beliefs - that, I agree with you. And unless he sends soldiers to the House of Assembly I don't see how in the world that is possible. It'll be naive and stupid of him to consider such an action. He'll be kicked out in no time. If the lecture was in Hausa, it's quite possible his meaning was altered in translation. If he was such a bigot why didn't he consider such action when he was a military head of state? You are free to vote for GEJ and I believe you're convinced he's the best for the country. It's very unlikely that the people who want to vote for Buhari will be influenced by this 2001 article that you posted. To each his own. My prayer is that the elections are peaceful and the wishes of the masses are respected. |

When you see her walking The post is sentimental, and in many instances unrealistic. . . |

Ujujoan:I didn't say that - what I said is that he shouldn't be criticised. That's all. The OP should be advised to work on himself but we shouldn't descend to mocking him. I'm not particularly critisizing him, but hey don't expect me to give him an award either.Don't take it too personal. I refrained from quoting anyone in particular in my post. I'm sorry but I can't help but show a little dis taste for that!Yeah, it sounds distasteful. I agree with that. But much more distasteful than that, is if he ends up cheating on his wife with his own house-help. |
I'm disappointed with some of the comments here. Here is a honest man seeking advice and all he gets is criticism. There are many men that would gladly welcome a maid they're attracted to for their own selfish reasons. This man has not done that. True, we should all learn to control ourselves, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try and control our "circumstances". And I don't know why people should be bringing up the issue of the workplace here. My advice is that you should give your wife a hint. Tell her you want an older woman for a maid. Let her interview some others. Say things like "she's too attractive/polished to be a maid" - if that makes any sense. If she still won't get it, let her know your mind. This could be tricky though, and you have to be very tactful in how you put your message across. Good luck |
REALITY101:You may also want to add "if she's not the talkative type" to your list. Before you know it, all her friends and relatives know how much oga makes in a month ![]() |
I would strongly advise against going to see the girl's parents as some people have been suggesting. Very nasty things might happen. The only thing you can do is to ask the girl to let her parents know about you and why she thinks you're the right person for her. If they still won't budge, move on with your life. No one wants a family drama. |
