ChrisKels:If that guy was a Nigerian would u have given him such a review? ![]() |
Humility017:No, they were enjoying his barren run of form. We should not have criticised him because of what? If he or any player messes up we bring out the sticks again. ![]() |
elyte89: ![]() Wait till u have an encounter with those our "Brad-es" |
Kog45:Egbon please tell me you were happy with Ighalo's barren run of games. Tell me you were happy with that his miss against Argentina. See, no player is above criticism here. There is virtually no player in that Super Eagles team that I have never criticised. When Ighalo scored against Cameroon was there anyone that came to try to make the goal seem less of a goal? When he scored 5 against Libya did we not all celebrate him? I even see no reason why Ighalo's case should come in when we were discussing Iwobi. Are both players competing against each other? I know what you are trying to insinuate but i will just let it go. |
ChrisKels:Na so o |
Mickael2:O boy no be only you o. Me and my neighbor who is a Nairalander( don't know his moniker though). But must be one of us here, . We were hugging each other while celebrating. His friends used to call him "Akpos" . I am suspecting someone here but I am not sure. ![]() |
BascoVanVeli:I was so pissed when Kayode copied it and did the dance at the 2011 WYC. And as expected those our "brad-es" came to Nairaland to insult us for Kayode copying their Asamoah Gyan's dance. Those guys were really something else. The 2014 bug that hit Nairaland has taken away a lot of old threads else I would have gone out to dig up some. Some crazy moments their men. I gave them fire for fire. Because of those guys I had to abandon my old Moniker for this one. Make Dem no find me come here. ![]() |
elyte89:Sorry o. You were busy crying for them. But meanwhile they celebrated our own exit at that same world Cup. I supported Uruguay whole heartedly in that game. Same thing with my neighbor then who was also on Nairaland. If they had gotten to the semis of that WC that no African team has ever reached my brother those Ghanaians will still be insulting us over it till today. ![]() Maybe u are new to the international e-community. We don dey there since tay-tay. It can get very crazy men... |
Truidstar:Bros if u were on Nairaland sports section and kickoff between 2007 and 2013 u Will not be seeing it this way. Those guys really hurt us during their hay days of 2009 WYC and 2010 WC and even few years after that. There were times i would stay away from Nairaland for up to 1 week because of those people. If you know how the Ghanaians celebrated Nigeria's exit from the 2010 WC plus all those talk of the last we won a WC game was in France '98 bla-bla-bla. We had to hit them with AFCON trophy winless streak since 1982 ![]() Those guys are crazy men....... They would insult our Footballers plus our government, economy even our movie industry and our Ladies Some of them are still on Nairaland and would probably come here to spy on us tonight ![]() Assuming the reverse was the case that they are through and we are out. They would have set this thread ablaze with their insults. Trust me on this. ![]() |
mostob:Plus dancing "yeye" village dance against Burkina Faso. That is the only thing they do so perfectly. ![]() Sotay my wife even asked "those are the Ghanaians right"? ![]() |
TheGoodJoe:Ghanaians that will support any team that players against Nigeria? If you don't know they are more pained because Nigeria made it through. If we had also crashed out like them they would have felt a lot better. Na ChrisKels Sabi them wella ![]() |
ChrisKels:Lol at bolded. Same with me and also a lot of Ghanaian fans. Mali always beat them. I don't know how Mali usually does it. But when Ghana wants to play Nigeria one kind of Spirit will just enter them and they would want to die on the pitch. Before the kickoff between Mali and Ghana one fan already said it would be better to lose to Mali than to lose to "Alata" . I just laughed. They would rather eat rat poison than to lose to Nigeria. Trust me on that. ![]() |
khunz:Hahaha I saw that his interview. Mali will always beat Ghana no matter what level. That was the fear of so many Ghanaian fans going into this game. The future of Ghanaian Football is so bleak |
andrew444:You are the one that needs to talk truth here. You came up with a false 90% stuff which is why I came up with the 60%. Yes almost every one here would know Erik Lamalla but I can bet u that the vast majority may not have heard the names of the other 3. You mentioned 4 Argentine players and I mentioned 4 Nigerian players. So who is lying here? Which other truth again are u talking about? |
Anyone with an update on Mali vs Ghana? |
Mickael2:Dr cool down. No be fight. We have accepted that it was a deflected goal. |
elyte89:Bros no be today we dey this thread. Funny things do happen here ![]() |
Mickael2:Trying to make amends for your earlier "deflection goal" post. ![]() |
Kog45:Egbon me I am not even watching the match. ![]() |
edi287:Forget bro. I am sure u know the intent behind his emphasis on the deflection. He should thank God that it was not an Iheanacho's goal that he qualified like that. Else the kind of noise that would have emanated from this thread this night ![]() |
Mickael2:A goal is a goal. |
Kog45:I just tire! Some people are just hell bent on diminishing our achievements as a Footballing nation. Over 90% of the current crop of our SE passed through our youth system. Starting from Akpeyi and Mikel to Ezenwa and Ighola who were part of the 2000s youth system to all the Obu boys of early 2010s and then to the Manu and Amuneke's boys of the mid 20s of which Chukwueze is the most recent product. Are likes of Akpeyi, Ezenwa, Mikel and Ighalo not still playing. Echiejile was also part of that era even Ambrose and Ideye. Yes we are not Spain , Brazil or Germany but to a very large extent our youth system is very very effective in producing national team players that have stood the test of time. |
Mickael2:So does that make it half a goal?. ![]() |
tbaba1234:Just like Our Japan 93 U17 squad produced Kanu, Babayaro and Oruma. Who played at the very highest levels and were withing the national team circle across 2 decades. I understand your point of view but this issue of longevity or lack of it is not unique to Nigeria. However someone saying we should not have any hopes on this current U20 because our age grade teams don't produce players for the SE is total trash. |
andrew444:I can bet that not up to 60% of peeps here know half of those names u mentioned. U even mentioned only 4 out of entire sqaud of 23 players. What happened to the others? Have their longevity expired. From that same 2011 WYC I can also only mention: Kenneth Omeruo Ahmed Musa Ogenyi Onazi Ramon Azeez(partially) My point is the issue of longevity is not restricted to Nigeria. Age cheating or no age cheating. |
tbaba1234:Firstly, the issue of longevity: Yes, most of the youth players fizzle out earlier than expected but that is a universal process although it varies across different continents. In some cases we are responsible for this as we are always so quick to throw out an older player from the national team once we see a new one. Secondly, not all youth players progress well. It is not just an issue of age cheating. Do u know how many of Manu and Amuneke's boys that passed the MRI that have fizzled already and we have not heard anything about them again? The Holland 2005 u talk about go round all national teams that took part in that tournament and point to me how many are still playing or are playing on the high stage. For instance, where is Ryan Babel and the rest of the Dutch players that took us to penalties in that tournament? You may want to cite the Argentine team but I can ask you " where are the Argentine players that played their U20 in 2009 and 2011? That 2005 Argentine U20 was a golden generation just like our 1993 U17 team and the Spanish team 1999 U20 team. Such crop of players come once in a while. We have proud products of our youth system that are very much still balling. Players like Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo, Ogenyi Onazi, Shehu Abdulahi, Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, Semi Ajayi and Jamilu Collins are some of the U20 players of 2011 & 2013 that we harvested and we are reaping from their performances today. And this crop do not look like they won't make it to the next WC. Somebody coming here to tell us that we should expect nothing from our age grade teams is totally baseless and mischievous. |
COOL10:Chairman I am not that kind of person that rates a player based on an uncertain future performance. I am commenting from what I have seen of him so far. Nazifi is not in the class of Success, Iheanacho, Awoniyi and Osimhen. |
SlayerForever:Oga look at our current SE over 70% of them played at least one of U17, U20 or U23 between 2011 and 2017. If I want to extend it further I am sure u know that Older players like Ighalo, Ezenwa, Akpeyi and Mikel were also products of our age grade teams Each succesive U20 team keeps churning out players to be promoted to the SE. So we have heavy hopes on these players for the future. Even Rohr himself is in Niamey to watch them. |

BascoVanVeli:I particular like how Aigbogun managed the game. I mean he didn't set up the team to play for a draw. Even when we went ahead we were still playing as if it was still 0:0. And yet we never played a high back line. Another good thing I like about the team is their physical fitness. Men, those boys are very fit. I also love their heights. They won most Air duels in all the 3 games played. I am really loving that CB pairing. If they can give same kind of performances at the final stages and then again at the WYC, Aigbogun may have just unearthed 2 CB options that can add more competition to the SE CB position. Rohr himself today has promised to invite any outstanding player (s) for the game against Seychelles. Those CBs are ahead of the others if u ask me. |
Mickael2:I miss TheSuperNerd. That is his area of specialization. We have an U20 thread though, created by him, but peeps hardly visit their. And so we feel more comfortable discussing the team here. |
Mickael2:The thing is knowing our pedigree at this level a lot of people expect a lot from this team. In the last 10-15 years this team is not among the best we have produced and so expect fans to criticize their stlyle of play. I posted a link today of how SA fans critized the negative tactics their coach deployed against Nigeria. And in the tournament this far. Go to Ghanaweb and see how Ghanaian fans are virtually placing curses on their Coach, the entire team and their FA. ![]() I personally know this team is not the best we can get at this level but I draw consolation from the fact that the team was built from the scratch after the disastrous outing of our last U17. I also find solace on the fact that we have a good number of U20 players in Europe who can add both qaulity and also reduce the average age of the team. Don't worry about those criticising the team. They will soon come to love them. ![]() |
