@Smartsmith, well done o, u just abandon us like that. Abeg how have my NPFL boys been performing so far in the camp? Is Iwuala impressing, tbh I am not expecting much from John Noble and the Adeleke guy, the goalkeeping and defence sectors are somewhat crowded imo.
Knowing Rohr for who he is don't expect any NPFL guys in any of the match day squads.

Iheanacho bagging a hattrick today is no surprise to me at all. It is what he will produce when he gets his run of games in a set-up that suits his play nicely. Playing him alongside Vardy frees him up to be the Alien kid we have always known him to be.

A mega deadly finisher. Knows how to pick up positions between the CBs and DM of the opponents. Also knows how to attack space created by his strike partner.

Iheanacho created 2 big chances today and made 3 key passes. Completed 6 dribbles. And was simply in unplayable form all game.

This further rubbishes the many claims made here by deluded folks who know little or nothing about football on how Iheanacho cannot dribble or beat a man. Such bollocks takes I have had to put up with in the name of freedom of speech. Yuck!!!

A player that cannot dribble completed 6 dribbles today.

its iheanacho that doesn't like celebrating with the team, he always points to the sky and not to his teammates or the person that made the assist..
grin He likes going spiritual by pointing to heaven, attributing the goal to God.

In today's (Modern day) game, typically scorers point towards or run towards the player that gave the assist.

Oyinbo people no dey spiritual like naija. So they would find Iheanacho's goal celebrations odd.

Throwback post.

Was feeling really nostalgic and decided to go through a previous thread from our catalogue of various NT threads.

Then I found this. Gotten from The Flying Eagles Thread (South Korea 2017).

Dated April 26, 2016.

The era that should have seen SADIQ Umar and Osimhen battle it out at U-20 level for the #9 shirt. Chief Icon4s will recall well. wink

Note: We eventually didn't qualify for the U-20 WC but certain players from that class have gone on to be in positions we hoped they will be in few years down the line.

See how far we have come in our discussions and analytical projections into the future. smiley

I also saw one by Icon4s on same South Korea U-20 thread where he specially picked out SADIQ Umar and Osimhen as "A-Class" level Teen Strikers.

So far so good, they are proving him right today.
Yeah. You are right actually. But I still feel Sadiq Umar has not really progressed as much as expected.

As for Onuachu, he has never really delivered in the national colors. The only thing worthy of note was the goal he scored against Egypt in a friendly, early in 2019.

I have seen comments in several media crucifying Rohr for putting him on standby, Onuachu's club performance has never been in doubt. But he has not been able to hit the right bottons when it comes to the national team.

Some would say Rohr should learn how to use him, but for me he should learn how to play with the other players. 3-4 days camping is not enough to change a whole team's playing stlye just to suit a particular player.

Maduka Okoye played all 90mins and kept a clean sheet as his sife Sparta Rotterdam secured a 1-0 away win in the Eredivisie over hosts, VVV Venlo.

He had an impressive game making 4 saves. And this was Okoye's 6th clean sheet of the league season.

His league stats read:

- 19 games played (all starts)
- 28 goals conceeded.
- 47 saves made.
- 6 clean sheets.

Maduka and Sparta now sit 12th on the league table.

Well done Maduka.
The boy is improving with every passing season.

Onuachu dropped for Umar. The coach should tell us why he dropped one of the top highest goalscorer in Europe.

Though I was the first to clamour for Umar's invitation to the SE when he was at Roma... that was in the Seria but I still can't understand why he should be selected ahead of Onuachu. Very funny coach.

However, Osimhen's goal recently was the game changer.

Shehu Abdullahi?
For me that was a fair list.

Onuachu has been consistent in Europe but he has not delivered in the national colors despite several invitations. Club football is different from national team football. Onuachu seems not to have settled down to the SE style of play.
For me, Sadiq Umar is another version of Onuachu in terms of physique but let's see if he will adapt better than Onuachu.

Can SUPER EAGLE ever Do what BLACK STAR of GHANA just did.....

VS. SOUTH AFRICA

The China-based duo are confirmed to take part
in the third phase of preparation for the final
hurdles on the road to Cameroon 2021
China duo Mubarak Wakaso and Emmanuel
Boateng have been retained as Ghana coach CK
Akonnor pruned down his camping squad as
preparations continue for their upcoming 2021
Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches
against South Africa and Sao Tome and
Principe.

The only foreign-based players participating in
the exercise, the two men, who are currently on
holiday in Ghana owing to a recess of the
Chinese Super League, joined up with 24 home-
based players for the second phase of training
last week.

An all-home-based contingent of 32 players
was called up for the first phase last month.
Editors' Picks

The third phase of camp commences on
Monday with 24 players, the Ghana FA has
announced on their official website .
Currently top the table in Group C, Ghana are
set to take on South Africa away on March 25
and Sao Tome and Principe at home three days
later to wrap up their qualifying series.
The West African, whose main Black Stars team
is virtually made of foreign-based players, are
undertaking the camping programme as a
proactive measure, amid concerns about the
release of their foreign legion for the upcoming
games.
Owing to the outbreak of the coronavirus
pandemic, foreign clubs have safety and health
concerns in relation to the international travel of
players.

Some clubs, particularly in England, are also
worried about having to do without players even
on their return from international duty because
of mandatory quarantine protocols.
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, Crystal
Palace duo Jeffrey Schlupp and Jordan Ayew,
Swansea City attacker Andre Ayew, Leicester
City defender Daniel Amartey, Southampton
centre-back Mohammed Salisu and Reading
full-back Andy Yiadom will have to undertake
mandatory quarantine should they travel to
South Africa.

Full Squad:
Goalkeepers: Joseph Addo (Aduana FC), Razak
Abalorah (Asante Kotoko), Eric Ofori Antwi
(Medeama SC)

Defenders: Ganiyu Ismail (Asante Kotoko),
Yusif Mubarik (Asante Kotoko), Konadu Yiadom
(WAFA), Ibrahim Moro (Asante Kotoko), Haruna
Jamal Deen (Great Olympics), Christopher
Nettey (Asante Kotoko) Joseph Agyei (Legon
Cities), Dennis Korsah (Ebusua Dwarfs)

Midfielders: Gladson Awako (Great Olympics),
Justice Blay (Medeama SC), Michel Otou (Great
Olympics), Yaw Annor (Ashanti Gold SC),
Rashid Nortey (Medeama SC), Maxwell Abbey
(Great Olympics), Salifu Moro (Bechem United),
Mubarak Wakaso (Jiangsu Suning), Joseph
Esso (Dreams SC)

Forwards: Emmanuel Boateng (Dalian Pro),
Kwame Peprah (King Faisal), Kwame Opoku
(Asante Kotoko), Diawusie Taylor (Karela
United)
.
.
From experience, project like this is usually not sustainable and las-las, the team will start struggling and the nation will start clamoring for the recall of most of the foreign based players.
It can only pay long term dividends where the league is of high standards.

Except they are just doing this due to COVID-19 induced travel restriction and quarantine protocols.

Iwobi can only do what his coach tells him to do. Today he was very defensive helping out with Hudson Odoi.

I do wonder why the tactics always change when Iwobi is in the front 3 because u never see James playing that deep he was basically another fullback
For a team like Everton playing against Chelsea at Stanford bridge they needed to play wingers who also have defensive abilities, to support the full backs, and can also join or initiate attacks when on the offensive. That was the strategy for Everton last night.

I hope this is Nacho's last season there and also hopes Ndidi leaves that club.

Nacho's handlers must seek a team that will sign on paper they will give Nacho playing time.
Bros, Iheanacho's form has not been consistent and Rodgers has other options. No sane coach would drop a player who consistently gives in "A" Performances.

Africa's Representatives to the next U20 WC:
Ghana (1st)
Uganda (2nd)
Gambia (3rd)
Tunisia (4th)
You can see the spread across different zones. That is what those CAF Officials want, rather than having Nigeria, Ghana, CIV and Senegal representing Africa grin It is a pitty the word would have to chose one from Nigeria, Ghana and CIV.

This system of qualification can never give Africa the best.
