komekn: You know players improve and some do not infact they diminish. This is even more pronounced at youth level.
All I have heard about Awoniyi so far, is. PAST GLORIES of yesteryears. How good is he now is a more concise question.
KC whether we like it or not has improved, however, Awoniyi simply has not. Indeed he has regressed. So he is essentially no longer relevant, until he can show progression.
In my opinion barring a miracle he will never play for Liverpool. Danny Ings cannot get into the side and he has proven pedigree and cost in excess of £10 million. Right now trying to offload Awoniyi to a Vanarama national league side would be problematic. When people always say Awoniyi has regressed I always say a NO to that. I will always say his development has slowed down. Or his development has fallen short of people's expectations. I believe he is still developing and may come up one day as one of our top strikers, though unlikely. He is just 19, I personally do not rule out any striker until he is 26. Awoniyi was not what people thought he was in the first place. I have never rated him highly. He was over-rated. There are some strikers you see score few goals at that level yet you can still rate them highly. Awoniyi is not much technically gifted /Talented. He is an average striker that has learnt a lot from a very good coach as he seems a player that really plays to instruction. That was very evident in Manu picking him ahead of Success at U20. Also he is very enterprising. But all these can only push you to a certain level. He has gotten to the level where he has to face real professionals who know how to snuff out attackers. |

komekn: I haven't contributed to this discussion, I just don't know all these players well enough. To start making deductions.
However, in assessing these players we seem to be talking about past glories. We need to look at the present continous.
Beating 2/3 or even 4 players in youth football and trying the same in a professional competitive game are completely two different things.
Taking it further dribbling and beating your player in the Finnish league is a lot different from trying it in La Liga or the EPL.
I can't say anything about Awoniyi beyond his stats are very poor and no amount of dribbling can change that. The bolded is why I rated Osimhen, K. Nwakali, Yahaya and Awoniyi based mainly on their U17 and U20 performances as I have not really seen them play as professionals. People need to understand that professional football is a lot different from cadet football. All those Awoniyi's U7 videos sef. Show me his 2016/2017 video, that is what matters now. |

He even got his own before Oliseh but we know na connection dem dey take get job for NFF as you rightly said. Mutiu has been more occupied with being part of the Shooting stars board.D't think he has been aggressive about a national team coaching job. Nobody even hears any comment credited to him. Look at Ikpeba and Amokachi. They are regular faces on our TV screens. But Mutiu, the last time I saw him on TV was during Yekini's burial as he was part of the burial organisng committee. I do not know Mutiu that closely. Does he have communications problems? |

Icon4s: BREAKING NEWS: SUPER SOPRTS STOPS LIVE BROADCAST OF NPFL MATCHES
Cable sports channel SuperSport has pulled out of the deal with organisers of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) due to alleged breach of contract. SuperSport for years has been the official broadcast sponsor of the NPFL which is organised by the League Management Company (LMC). According to SuperSport, the termination was as a result of a breach of contract on the part of the LMC. Caroline Oghuma, the Public Relations officer of DSTV could not reveal how the LMC breached the contract of their deal. “It was terminated due to a breach of contract, that’s the official position of the company on this matter,” Oghuma told Pulse Sports. The General Manager of SuperSport West Africa Felix Awogu also told Pulse Sport that the company have spent an average of N6b annually for the last nine years for both broadcast right and production. All efforts to know how the LMC breached the contract was not successful as SuperSport insist that it is on the LMC part to reveal that information. Chairman of the LMC, Shehu Dikko could not be reached for further information. The development comes weeks after Supersport took a similar decision in Kenya – terminating a ten-year relation with the Kenyan Premier League. Currently, they only show live matches of the Zambian Super League and the South Africa’s Premier Soccer League. In 2016, the company, who claimed to be downsizing its operations in Africa for business reasons, ended their union with the Ghanaian Premier League, which another pay television company Star Times have since taken over. Supersport, who used to hold the TV right of the Nigeria Basketball League, has lost it to Kwese Sports. There are also dwindling subscription numbers and stiff competition from new entrants like Star Times, Kwese Sports among others. In August 2013, the LMC secured a four year broadcast deal with Supersport worth $34 million. The contract was to run for four years, between 2015 and 2019. Following the take-over of the basketball league, Kwese Sports is likely to be the next broadcast right owner of the NPFL. . www.pulse.ng/sports/football/supersport-stops-broadcast-of-live-npfl-games-id6556453.html What is all this now. The only opportunity too see our local teams and appreciate some of our local stadiums. Guess we need dannycrusoe now even more than before. |

tbaba1234: Ajax young guns are through to the semi finals with 10 men.
Three Belgian league clubs did very well in the Europa league. Gent knocked out Spurs and Anderlecht pushed man united to extra time. It illustrates the quality of the league and why it is an excellent pivot for young players.

TheGoodJoe: Dribble King should go to Aluko. Definitely ahead of Most Super Eagles player. Another notable mention is Isaac Success. Even though without much games, his performance against Manchester United where he skinned Bailly and completed the most dribbles in the game with few minutes on the pitch.
Victor Moses comes third to me. Exceptional at going past players. Deserved a rating higher than Success, but what Success did in that game blew my mind.
Onyekuru is another beast but I think he needs to work with a quality coach to refine his game before we can judge him.
Not really watched much of them to give a thorough rating. Simon Moses looks good also but misses tricks a bit too much for my liking.
Iheanacho has played too directly under Pellegrini that it will take a bit long to get him appreciating the deep style of build-up plays. He also does not hold on to the ball for long to have a chance to judge his dribbling skills. Looking at the list. The rankings are meant for the young players. |

Joebie: I for join this argument. I think "who is a better striker?" will bring more quality debate. then we can look at all their attributes. Dribbling alone is not enough for a striker. Some strikers dribble without any good end product, like good passes or scoring -- that does not help the team in any way. Yeah, very correct. But a striker being able to dribble adds more to his abilities. Olivier Giroud comes to mind. In the whole of the EPL I don't think there is any striker that is as good as Giroud in terms of tap-ins and aerial headers in front of goal (maybe except Andy Carrol). But have u ever seen a goal where he takes on a defender one on one to create chance for himself to score. If Giroud had such dribbling abilities like Aguero added to his excellent positioning for tap-ins and headers, no striker for near him in the EPL o. Immediately I saw Awoniyi's poor dribbling abilities at the U17, I was not sure he would emerge as a lethal striker, sincerely. A player like that maybe suitable for the English game. Could be why Liverpool went after him and sent him on loan to Germany where they don't do much of dribbling but are still very lethal in front of goal. I wish the young lad all the best anyways. |

Mickael2: why is it that you just like saying absurd things? Awoniyi? Dribbling? Skills?! When exactly did that happen?
When he played the U17, one of the physiotherapists here was sold on the guy, I told him that the guy cannot dribble just that he is clinical and that he would lose his touch soon and then he'd become a fluke. Once you take out the clinical part of Awoniyi's game, he becomes a poor player, he cannot dribble, he creates every now and then but dribbling and Awoniyi should not be used in the same sentence...no, in the same essay in fact You sure know the boy. His build up play is excellent. He will always need to play 1-2 touches with a team mate to get over his opponents. But when it comes to facing a defender 1 on 1 he usually falls short. He is an excellent team player and also good in finishing. But the dribbling skills is not just there. |

itsop: Mr Imudia Uduehi, a father of quintuplet who married less than a year ago, has appealed to government, well-meaning Nigerians and philanthropists to support the family in raising the children.
uduehi, also an unemployed graduate, from Ekpoma in Esan West LGA in Edo, made the appeal while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abuja. .
He said the quintuplet was delivered at the National Hospital Abuja on April 12, adding that all the five babies and the mother were in good health. “I am delighted and I thank God to have blessed us with these healthy children, I know it is a huge responsibility because it is not easy to raise even one child.
I am, however, appealing to the government, well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations to come and support my family in raising the children. I want everyone to see these children not just as a blessing to us but also a blessing to the entire nation,’’ Uduehi said.
In the same vein, Mrs Oluwakemi Uduehi, mother of the quintuplets, who is a civil servant, expressed joy for safe delivery adding that she conceived naturally and delivered five healthy baby girls.
Uduehi, who also appealed to Nigerians to support her family, stated that they were presently residing in a one bedroom apartment at Lugbe on Airport road. “My husband is presently searching for a job and I am a civil servant with Nigerian Population Commission in Abuja.
We both live in one bedroom apartment in Lugbe because that is what we can afford. But now that God has blessed us with five children, we will definitely need a bigger apartment and money to meet their needs, especially buying baby food and cloths,’’ she said.

cc thegoodjoe, forgiveness, thesupernerd, joseph1013,komehn, goldfish, bascovenveli, tezurum5 and all the thread members please give your ratings It is also difficult to rate them on a scale such as what you proposed as they all play in different leagues with different levels of competition. Besides we have not really seen some of those players on that list in good enough action to judge. However, I will put them in two categories and rate some of them comparatively in this order with number 1 being the best and down like that: Group1:I have seen them well enough play as senior team professionals either at club levels and or Super Eagles: 1. Alex Iwobi 2. Moses Simon 3. Isaac Success 4. Kelechi Iheanacho 5. Oghene Karo Etebo 6. Henry Onyekuru 7. Wifred Ndidi 8. Abdul Ajagun 9. Chuba Apkom 10. Olanrewaju Kayode 11. Samuel Kalu 12. Stephen Odey Group2: I have mostly seen them play as youth internationals. Never really seen enough of their post junior international games even at club level to judge. So my judgment here is based mostly on skills displayed at U17 and U20/23: 1. Musa Yahaya 2. Kelechi Nwakali 3. Victor Osimhen 4. Taiwo Awoniyi I cannot rate Noah Obazee cos I have not seen him well enough. |
