Chidera Ezeh's goal today helped Portimonense gain promotion.

I think, he should stay for another season before returning to Porto.

The DM role in the Super Eagles is very tough but Ezeh is still young.
Did he play as a DM in the game?

Why not?

Every footballer has dribbling skills.

What you do is to compare his with that of another footballer and ask who has more dribbling skills.

I think, it is both..

I do not think he is grade A but i thought he was decent enough to thrive at the level he is currently playing
Yeah. Also he is not much blessed with dribbling skills. This is where Osimhen has an edge over him.

Then also he does not have the physical strength to out muscle defenders. That was very evident at the CAF U23. Which was a major reason I felt he was not ready for the challange at that level.

Kanu Nwankwo at that age was about the least physical of strikers but he made up for that with his skills and trickery. You saw what he did as a 20yrs old at Atlanta '96.

There are late starters in football. Not everyone who shines as a teenager makes it. Freddy Adu, Cherno Samba, Dominic Adiyiah, Nii Lamptey, etc show us things do not always go according to path. That's why I often hesitate to say that so and so player will be the highest goal scorer in Super Eagles or this person will become Nigeria's captain. Life happens. I can wager that some of those you listed WILL flatter to deceive at the end of the day.

And there are those who shone in their late twenties. Marco Materazzi, Ole Gunnar Solsjaer, Rickie Lambert, Ian Wright and even Luca Toni are good examples to show that there are indeed late bloomers.

I am afraid for Awoniyi, but your assumptions of him based on your examples are pedestrian.
What of our own "Iniesta" - Musa Yahaya.

Going by his performances at U17 and expectations that followed that boy should be playing for a team like Real Madrid by now.

Spot on, I feel a big part of the problem is psychological.. He needs to get a run of goals to build confidence.
Psychological?

I feel it has to do more with his abilities.

I have never seen him as a Grade 'A' teenage striker.

Hahahaha, Nigeria's best captain was DA BOSSSSSSSS, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi. Second is CHAIRMAN, Christian Chukwu.
These were highly influential captains who even ended up as Super Eagles coaches.

On that top 5 list I would replace Kanu Nwankwo with Sunday Oliseh.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: How I Failed The Fidelity Bank Job Test by Icon4s(m): 4:22pm On Apr 19, 2017
SaintAkindile:
I got 41.25% in the test. So, why did I fail so woefully?

I was tensed ahead of the test on Wednesday morning April 5th 2017. I said to myself, "well, since I am here (at fidelity bank Enugu branch) before 7am, let me chill in a near by shop and wait till it is 8am. So I ordered for pure water and okpa to cool my head.

I immediately remembered that I need more of sugar since am suffering from high b.p and was feeling tired. I ordered for one bottle of Pepsi. The sales boy said "no 30cl Pepsi Sir, we have 50cl". I said "ok, give me the 50cl".

I drank the 50cl Pepsi and I was feeling ready for the test.

Fast forward, test period. I was feeling high! the questions weren't too hard, it wasn't too easy either. I was flying, but upon reaching the number 35 question, I died and rose back to life again.

Chai!! dere is god ooooo!! this piss wey dey worry me!! dere is god ooo!!

The piss that was worrying me got worst. The air condition wasn't helping matters. I was feeling my bladder almost about to explode.

"Ma'am please can I use the rest room?" I called the hr lady... who was looking at me as if my head was paining me. lol. "But your time is still going" she said, looking worried. A lovely lady, looking fresh and ripe like the mango am sipping as I narrate my woes. I replied "just two minutes, I will be done with the rest room". She said ok that I should go.

I was happy, feeling relieved. walking awkwardly as I am about to leave the test hall. "Come back here!" the hr lady called. "am sorry, it is either you complete your test and go or you quit the test. nobody is allowed to use the rest room when the test is still on". Damn! I was sad. There were thoughts about my actions running in my head. Was I right or wrong? did I do the right thing by speaking up? why did the hr lady decide to change her mind? All these and more as i head back to the hot seat.

What was she thinking sef!! I asked myself again. Was it that I might hack their computer database through the rest room or what? wtf. I hissed loudly. much to the attention of the other candidates seated around me.

I wrote the test with constant pressure. No atom of concentration as i scored below what I can do. After that, my friend said to me, "guy bone village people, they will never succeed. Lol! I have a real sense of belief that they are after my case. Lol. Anyways, tests are no true test of knowledge.
U said you have high Blood pressure and still wnt to work with a bank?

Agreed time waits for no one in football. You can be celebrated today ridiculed tomorrow, I you do not perform.

Meanwhile when will Aluko be invited it's getting to the point of embarrassment. Or is there something we do not know.
Awoniyi is just 19. We often fail to remember this. Hope is not lost on him yet. This is also one of the reasons I am so eager that Victor Osimhen starts playing. Osimhen will be 19 later this year and the only thing we know about him is his U17 exploits. His mates are already making big statements and we are still waiting on him. Just as you put it 'time waits for no one in football'.

The coach started him for a while and then dropped him to the bench due to his lack of goals. His return to the first team is good but he is not delivering.

This is his second season on loan. He did not deliver on his first either. His team got relegated.

The german 2nd division and the dutch league are decent levels for him to show results. He should not be poorer than these kinds of leagues if he wants to make liverpool's team eventually.

I think, part of his problem is psychological. He needs a run of goals.

The clock is ticking..
I think the issue with Awoniyi is that too much was expected of him.

I recall some here even opined he was better than Isaac Success. Some even said he deserved a place in the Liverpool 'A' Squad.

I don't agree he has deteriorated as you put it. I would say his development has not been as fast as expected by many.

I was one of those few that stood the ground that he was not even ready for that U23 Challenge.

He is just 19. He should have even been part of this years WYC if we had qualified.

The boy is still learning the ropes. Whether he will come out as a top striker for Nigeria or not even getting a call up at all, time will tell.

Alhaja Sikirat Yekini is the octogenarian mother of late Super Eagles striker, Rashidi Yekini. She has complained of financial troubles since her son’s demise.

On January 23, 2016, it was reported that Sikiratu Yekini about her plight since the death of her son. And, we set out on a journey to Ijagbo, a town in Kwara state where she lives, and she exclusively revealed her ordeal.

Following that visit, Nigerians reached out and helped her financially. A man named Suraj Tunji Oyewale, a successful chattered accountant based in Lagos championed a course on his facebook page for some monetary contribution for Mama Sikiratu Yekini after reading our reports on what the woman has being going through, and in less than 48 hours, N220,000 was raised on behalf of the woman.

Once again, help as come her way as she won N2million during her appearance on the popular TV show, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”.

According to Daily Trust, she was assisted by Pa Dejumo Lewis and Binta Ayo Mogaji-Oduleye during its recent annual special edition tagged “Who Deserves to Be a Millionaire?”

Alhaja Yekini, happily said: “Also, I am getting to realize that there are still some good people in our midst. Everything is still like a dream to me”, she said in a chat after the show.

“When the representative of this company contacted me that he would be coming to visit me‎, all the way from Lagos, and that I should consider him as one of my sons, I could not believe it.

He said they wanted to celebrate with me and reward me. He now said something that touched my heart: “we want to do part of what Rashidi would have further done for you if he had been around”. Honestly, I was touched.”

“Let me tell you, the essence of events like this in human life cannot be quantified! It gives longevity. That is the feeling I am having now. I am going to live longer. I have just seen life, yet again in another perspective.

“Also, maybe I should tell you that the organizers have assured me of their guidance to enable me spend the money meaningfully,” she concluded, saying the money won would be spent on food and medical needs.

To me, Abiodun Baruwa, while in his element, was a FANTASTIC goalkeeper. Regardless of his growing belly, dude was as agile as a Cat and was very hard to beat between the sticks. He singlehandedly picked 3SC, time and again, by the bootstraps in their Winners Cup march to the finals, what year was that again ?

In fact, he was so good that at a point I felt he used Juju.

He was truly destined for greatness and I thought he should have achieved far more despite the clangers he committed in the friendlies prior to France 98.

I saw little of Ogedengbe and so have faint memories of his heroics.I was not much of a football follower then. Though I learnt from my elder siblings that he was a very tricky goalie. One that could smartly pull back a ball that had crossed the goal line and claim it was no goal grin
Ogedengbe's problem started from the 1982 AFCON hosted in Libya. We had a dismal outing at that AFCON as we crashed out at the group stage. Peter Rufai, a younger goalies was drafted into the team in 1983. (We then as children used to call him Peter Rufive. Five as in 5)

I saw the start and end of Peter Rufai. From the 1984 AFCON which was his maiden competition to France 98 World Cup which was his last.
Rufai was excellent. U could hardly beat him with long range shots. His dives were second to none. He was at a time during the 1988 AFCON nicknamed 'the Flying Roof'. Also his kicks were like long range free-kicks that go straight into opponents 18yards box. grin

For all his heroics his weakness was close range headers. Oh I will not forget Mitchelle Basole of CIV, Nigeria vs Ivory coast, 1994 AFCON semi. And it became worse as he aged. Rufai was known for fantastic saves that we'll shout 'Rufailaaaa!!!! or some would say Rufiiiii!!!!!or other would say roof! roof! roof!.But he also conceded some cheap goals and we would be like "wetin do Rufai?" shocked

Vincent Enyeama is Nigeria's best Goalie.

He is more complete than Peter Rufai. I need not describe Enyeama here because I know we all, even the youngest person here, know him wella.
