Business › Re: The Fall And Fall Of The Elephant! by Icon4s(op): 10:31am On Aug 29, 2007
Temmie 10,

I still maintain that FBN was over priced @ their N40.40 technical suspension price.

Yes there was the bullish run 1st Quarter this year but did you investigate the factors responsible for the run?More over the bullish run was experienced mostly by penny stocks and less capitalised companies.

I don't dispute the fact that demand for the FBN share increased shortly before they issued dividends and bonuses which lead to the rise in price but am tellin yu that there was an element of price manipulation.

I have always seen FBN as a long term investment. So if you are buying for a short term profit I guess you have to be patient with the Elephant.
Business › Re: The Fall And Fall Of The Elephant! by Icon4s(op): 9:43am On Aug 29, 2007
The issue about FirstBank is that it was over priced.

When it was on technical suspension @ N40.40 and offering to the public @ N33 & N31 it's fair market price was around N34.People were seeing a N7-N9 discount where -as based on the Fair market price it was N1-N3.

Shortly after the technical suspension, the price was apparently manupulated to N56 -N57.Their market fundamentals could not support that price which lead to the first free fall to N48.Bonuses were issued and price adjusted to N41.Even @ that price it was still over priced cos their market fundamentals could still not support it.

The free fall might still continue until it reaches it's fair market price which is between N30 & N35.

Business › The Fall And Fall Of The Elephant! by Icon4s(op): 2:45pm On Aug 28, 2007
What is happening to First Bank's Share price? At one time it rose to N56,dropped a bit and gave bonuses. After then, the share price has been experiencing a free fall.Infact it closed at N38.98 after today's trading.People are begining to panic. But thank God I didn't buy FirstBank cos I was saving towards ACCESS Bank.

Jobs/Vacancies › A Minimum Of Second Class Hons. From Any Discipline? by Icon4s(op): 1:17pm On Aug 28, 2007
Tuesdays and thursdays are special days for Nigerian job seekers.Y?Tuesday and thursday guardian Newspaper.

Withing the last few years I have noticed that Banks,Manufacturing Companies and even accounting firms like KPMG,PWC, Delloite etc.Recruit across board i.e all discplines more especially if they specify 2:1.

Gone are the days when the Banks are meant for Management Science gradautes.Infact Banks now employ Science and Engineering Graduates more than other fields probably because they are better numerically and hence perform better in aptitude tests.

Also take for instance in Accounting firms like KPMG,PWC and DELLOITE have you noticed that a good no. of Trainees have Engineering backgrounds. But have you also noticed that when you see Graduate trainee vacancies in Engineering and Petroleum Companies, they most often specify Engineering/Geosciences.

When you come to Schorlaships like PTDF it is still mostly Engineering/Geosciences.Does this now imply that Engineering/Science disciplines are now more lucrative than management sciences like Accounting, Economics, Banking & Finance, Bus Admin, Marketing etc?

My good people what do you think about this matter?

FAISALL,
I can't tell you how much NNPC pays.We in the Oil Sector are not like Bankers that make so much noise about their pay package. But believe me the offer is fantastic with lots of benefits on the short and long term. And it is better than what any Nigerian Bank can offer.

Business › Re: Access Bank Offer: Caveat Emptor by Icon4s(m): 8:55pm On Aug 26, 2007
Some of us have been following the stock market for quite some time.I don't doubt the fact that there might be some thing fishy about the ACCESS Bank's Financial report. But look most of our Banks have a way of cooking up their books and influencing their stock price shortly bofore they go public so why should ACCESS Bank be singled-out.If you have any doubt go to www.cashcraft.com,go to market analysis and click on stock price movement.Set over a 1year period check stock price movement for ACCESS, UBA, OCEANIC, INTERCONTINENTAL AND FIDELITY Bank. You will observe this sharp price appreciation shortly before they went on technical suspension. Even FCMB is on a sharp rise now because they are going public soon.To my own opinion investing in ACCESS Bank is as risky as investing in OCEANIC, UBA OR INTERCONTINENTAL Bank who are not doing badly anyway. So please GET ON BOARD!

Max_Divine,
I feel you.Only very few young people know this.

Lagoseko,
I'm sorry if my response dampened your spirit. My cousin works with SpringBank so what I said is not far from the the truth. The 120k you talked about might be the average monthly take home.I.e your anual divided by 12months.Springbank is not among the highest paying banks.Even Oceanicbank which until recently used to be the highest pays trainees little above 90k as take home though their annual is N2.2m.Note the difference between monthly take home and annual my dear.
