So, one of my distance cousin, a Yoruba guy impregnated an Igbo lady and she gave birth to a boy. He doesn't want to marry the lady bit want his son but the lady's family are laying claim on the child that the child doesn't belong to him since he doesn't want to marry their daughter.

I understand that it is their culture but the constitution agreed that the child belong to the biological father, he is planning to take them to Court. I want to have ideas of what can be the outcome at the court.

Culture has nothing to do with legality, cultural practices is nu and void when it comes to child custody.

The Igbos have a cultural practices that only men share the properties of the family but supreme Court quashed it same as the culture of child custody.

No one has the rights to stop a father from joint custody wether he married the lady or not is immaterial, the law recognizes you as the father and you have right to joint custody of the child involved.

If the family does insist, take the mother to court and obtain joint custody order. This Igbo cultural practices isn't in tandem with section 1 sub section 3 of the 1999 constitution as amended and is therefore null and void and it's of no effect.

Take that legal stand now

Do u know what it is as a Governor to release 15 billion every month to your Godfather to service his structure? And when you fail as a Governor you will be blamed and not the Governor. When we were agitating for resources control and we are still on that part it led to OBJ giving us the position of the VP during the primaries to bring down the tension in the South south and it worked because we now saw ourselves as part of the country something that has never happened before.

Imagine Nigerian state that has never been accountable telling the owner to be accountable for the little chunk of wealth given before they are given more? The Ringroad project is a massive project that is currently ongoing around PH metropolis. That guy has also empowered those working for him who hasn't been promoted for more than 10years . The whole workforce of the Rivers State Government never had promotions for more than 10 years and this guy did it in his first 5 months on office.... Irrespective of these issues things are still ongoing but he needs to do more though I love his human capacity development.

Some people are really funny, I'm not a fan of wike but I can bet he would have still attained the level he is at the moment because he paid his dues with service. He fought for every Governor before him and they in return bless him by either appointment or recommendation so you see respect the man.

I'm a big fan of Amaechi but he(Amaechi) was in Ghana when wike was going to Abuja fighting for his mandate, in return he was rewarded.

He fought to deliver Rivers state for Goodluck Jonathan and in return was rewarded as a governor, now he fought to deliver Rivers state for Tinubu and he has been rewarded so give the man his respect he has really worked hard to get to where he is today.
