23tayo:Bro, I have lived in both places and I have this to say to you: 1. Are u a hustler? If yes, come to Lagos and maybe, just maybe u will hustle ur way out of that 200k job because it is nothing to write home about on the island. Fiest is that with that salary, you will never get to live on the island except you want to share a room with 2 or 3 other guys ro reduce the rent. You may also think of cooking and carrying your lunch to work. 2. Dont even think of living on the mainland and commuting to the island daily. Rent is reduced, yes but you will still spend the difference on transport. And then you will end up frustrated. You will spend about 5 to 6 hours of your say on transit. 3. If you prefer a dull kinda life, guy choose ibadan and you can have a good life with 100k and like someone mentioned, in a short time, you would have properties of your own. Lagos will not give u that with 200k. I think you need to get paper, do some maths and write your worse case scenarios and take it from there. All the best |
Elder001:Foolishness does not come easy |
Okpo. Stay there they deceive yasef. RETIREDMUMU: |
It is good we learn a few things before we begin to make comments: 1. Front Airbags only deploy when there is a frontal impact. Obviously this vehicle turned over and therefore the airbags will not deploy. Side curtain airbags are designed to deploy on side impact. 2. Even though this accident is ghastly, she would have survived since she was wearing a seatbelt. I am sure the seatbelt was cut by her rescuers or it cut after the car came to a rest. Airbags are not important in a rollover. A look at where she sat shows she was adequately protected from the impact. The doors were most likely mangled by her rescuers 3. Not trying to underestimate Gos in this matter but she survived cos she did the right thing using her seat belts. Let us not be foolish and not use a safety device and expect a miracle. Pastors have deceived us enough. |
MadKid:I just did and seriously, My brain has gone on auto shutdown! |
Chief Gazzuzz, since you don't have time to respond to my email, let me bring the matter here: 4 months ago, I got a Nigerian used Mazda MPV and I have these issues: 1. Once the fuel in the tank goes below half tank, the vehicle begins to jerk. It becomes worse the more you accelerate. I took the car on a journey once and whenever I use A/C in traffic, the car jerks irrespective of the level of fuel in the tank. Sometimes, the only solution is to stop, turn of the engine for a few minutes and then when I move, it runs like new. 2. I have had a recurring suspension problem. I have replaced lower arms, stabilizer linkages, bushings etc and the noise persists. If I take it to my local mechanic and he plays around, the noise stops for maybe a day or two and then resurfaces thereafter. I am tired of expending money on the suspension. Now they are asking me to buy new shock-absorbers for 20k but I am seriously skeptical. All I have spent on the car before now did not yield any good results 3. At speeds above 50kmph, I hear a humming sound from the left front wheel which increases in sound as the speed of the vehicle increases. My tires are new so it cannot be tires. The Mechanic says I need a new hub at 18k and I don't want to spend that cash except I am sure I am getting value for money. There, those are the issues. How can you help? |
Dear OP, sometimes people assume that they failed an interview because of their race, sex or other matters. Often times, it is because they are not qualified. I have interviewed people who have CVs that speak everything you can think of but I realise that CVs do not hold water anymore. Guy, when I finished school, I worked in a plastic manufacturing firm in Awka for 13k. Yes 13k. I chose to do that rather than stay with my parents. It was not easy living alone on 13k but I did it. That job gave me the experience required for my applications because when I speak at interviews, I speak from experience. Except for graduate trainee jobs, who will hire a person without experience. So my advice: Pick a low paying job for now while you wait for your breakthrough. Leave your parents house as soon as you get that job. Leaving that comfort zone brings out the hustler and the manager in you! The job you will do will provide you experience and when experience speaks, CVs and education shut the f up! I know graduates who have done jobs that ordinary technicians may do. I have done it. The world owes you nothing. You need to go out and take it. You still have a mom who was ready to sell her bike. The day I graduated from University, nothing was coming from my parents. I left the house and went to hustle. My first job came from my dad's friend. We visited the factory and I told my dad I was going to work there. I was told the job was hard but I chose to do that! Get out of your comfort zone friend. And go hustle. I wish you the best. See you at the top. PS: You think your mom loves you by being there for you? My brother she will love you more when you make some money and send her monthly stipends. |
Oga Gazzuzz, I have sent you a pm. Abeg respond so we can talk. if you want me to put up the issue here, I can do that but it is a long!!! thing |
phadat:I am not a car expert but I once had this experience so I will share mine. I found at a time that my radiator required topping almost daily. I checked and there was no leakage. I took the car to a mechanical and got the usual responses: Change the radiator to a double cell, remove thermostat. Do this, do that. Eventually I took time to check the car myself. I started the car and after 20 mins or so, I went under and eureka, there was the leakage! The leakage was from the water pump! While the car is standing, you will not see leakage. You start the car and you will not see a leakage because the themostat was still closed. When the thermostat opens and water begins to circulate, then it begins to leak. Hope this helps. Car going off in motion most times is from either the idle system or from the fuel system. |
Hello Gazzuzz I tried sending you a pm but Nairaland is not allowing me to. Can you please send me an email on okeycima@gmail.com. I need to reach you urgently because I have a car that is killing me. Thanks as I await your response. |
HITTED:Lie! I have used a Mazda 626 for four years now and the car takes me to my home town and back without issues. I have currently added an MVP to it. That tells you how much I love Mazda |
One simple lesson I learnt. Keep your private life private. I still don't understand why some women cannot just live without social media. Must you show everyone you are successful? Social media has claimed another marriage!!! |
SarahBonetta:@SarahBonetta: after reading your post, I had to check out your profile to see the size of ya boobs. unfortunately, there is no pic to support your assertion so I do not know if you have boobs that will make a bra strap to snap. And boobs facing earth at angle 160? That boob needs a lift! |
Well, I have interviewed people and I think I disagree with Number 5. When you are asked how much you want to earn, please do not go on a roundabout saying how the company has a compensation\benefit plan. State exactly how much you want to be paid for your services. It shows you are confident, know what you are worth and how much you want to get for your services. Not every company should be able to afford you. |
alexov:I dey tell you!!! That SEET workshop 3 na wah. |
@ OP, I remember an uncle of mine told me in the year 2005 that I would get a job in Total upstream the moment I was done with my youth service. I had a good degree in Mechanical Engineering and he was a "big boy" in Total upstream. If I had waited for him, I am sure a lot would have passed me by. While I was still serving, I would send him mails from time to time and he would reply. When I finished service, all my mails went unreplied. That was my cue to start hustling for myself. |
I did not find time to read all the comments, but I will advise a few: 1. Your sister should run. That girls are getting pregnant for this guy everywhere means he does it without protection. She is risking her life living with him except she decides to insist he always uses protection with her. 2. Your sister needs to leave him and move on. 1.5m is good enough money to start a biz with. Let her start with the 1.5m while you keep the 2m you can give her so she can use as sustenance. The growth of a biz does not always depend on the start up capital. It depends more on the management of the biz. 3. She needs to scale down her lifestyle. Forget this crap about being from a rich family. 4. Finally and most importantly. She should table the proofs she has before her husband and demand compensation. She will then use the compensation to activate No. 1. Simple. |
Apple1992:Guy, I think you need to return to primary school to go brush up on your English Language. This is just horrible grammar. If my secondary school English teacher sees this, she would just have cardiac arrest. And please do not start with "I am not English" or "English is not my father's language". You had better type in Pidgin or in whatever language that works for you instead of murdering English in this manner. |
patriotic9jaboy:Must you respond? Ode |
I remember my first car with Nostalgia. A rover 620GSi. Full option. Bought the car in 2008 precisely on the 21st January. That car was a workhorse and went everywhere with me. I flogged the car throughout the states in Nigeria. I eventually sold it in 2013 when I upgraded to a Honda Pilot. Wanted to leave the Rover for my wife to learn with but then I got a good offer for the Rover and did not want it to stay with me for too long. It was a manual drive and I was just transferred to Lagos and those who stay in Lagos know you should never drive a manual tranny in Lag. Your leg fit catch fire inside some mother of all hold ups. |
When I read the news that pdp would not hang the president's portrait, I was like: what is wrong with pdp? |
LOL. This 5MB drive na wa oh! I remember when I first got into the world of computers in the 90s. In the business centre where I worked, our best system then had a 1MB RAM and a 40MB hard drive. Later, we got another computer with 5MB RAM and 270MB hard drive. I was wowed. Now my phone has a 1GB ram and 32GB drive. Things have really changed! |
ichidodo:There is a reason why people go to school to study the English Language. Please go and study. A law is a law. What Wike would have done right would be to appeal and repeal the law that gave her the car. Wike is a big fool and should settle down to govern instead of this unnecessary Vendetta. He should also not forget that the opposition in at the center and he was once a minister! |
It depends on the hospital. The hospital I use has a policy to test your blood for HIV except while doing a blood test, you expressly tell them not to include HIV. The OP should not worry. HIV is like malaria now. Only difference is, you will live with drugs for a long time. No need to tell any other person except your lover. The stigma is not worth it. All the best. |
It is so sad. I am sorry for the guys on this thread who think Fayose has done a great deal by buying plantain on the road. Has someone asked why he has to take a picture of himself eating amala and buying plantain, taking okada and eating roast corn? We are doomed as a people if we celebrate a governor doing these things. Lemme ask Ekiti people one question. This question will tell if he is really a people's governor. How many vehicles are in his convoy? |
ikeno:What makes you imagine it was his happiest day? The wedding day is the happiest day for the woman and not for the man. Check am well. |
chukwudi44:Bros, I like this your statement. Why do we not recognize development when we see it in Nigeria. I am sure in Lagos state today, the news would have been on the radio since morning for people to take alternative routes. They would also advise you to avoid the island if what you are going to do there is not important!! That way if you have any business to do around TBS, you would either reschedule or leave earlier. This is different from just stopping in the middle of the road to campaign!! What if I were in my car and I had told my business partner I would be with him in 10 minutes because I was ten minutes away only to be delayed for 1hr 30mins by an illiterate governor wanna be. I live in Lagos and on the day the APC held their primaries, the plan was on the news from 6am while I was on my way to work. Alternative routes were given. Yes people may suffer but they know before hand. Please do not just make comments so that you will join commenters. Ode. |
I Vote Annypie Second, I vote Cupidora. Third..... Nobody else! |
100Cents: It is shocking to know that police doesn't extort people in the north. Once you cross Nsukka heading towards Otukpa in Benue state, that is the last extortion block you will find Northwards...My brother, d thing dey tire me oh! When I used to live in Kaduna, I would drive from Kaduna to Otukpa without checking for papers or stopping then I cross into obollo afor, and every two kilometers, I have to bring out papers. In fact at a point, I would have more than two copies just in case I forget some somewhere. |
Gentlemen, If what I hear is true and that a two storey building was being reconstructed to 6 storeys, then the cause of the collapse of that building is not far fetched. It is simply greed. A building is determined from the foundation! Ask the civil engineers. If a building has a foundation for 2 floors, please do not increase the number of floors without strengthening the foundation. And for pete's sake, how much strengthening can you give to a 2 storey building's foundation to make it accept 4 more floors?! Some civil engineers should please educate me. |
