AtikuNetwork: Attacks On Police Station: IPOB Taking Separatist Struggle To Extreme – Igbo Group
Some respected Igbo elders who operate under the aegis of Conference of Concerned Igbo Elders for Peace and National Unity, has criticized the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for recent attacks on police station in Abia State, which resulted in the death of two officers and burning of the station.
According to the Igbo Group, IPOB is gradually over stretching its luck by taking its struggle too far, engaging in indiscriminate destruction of lives and property.
They called on relevant authorities to deal decisively with the separatist group, insisting that the current level of force being deployed may not be enough to curb their violent excesses.
According to the elders, decisive force was required at this time, considering recent events, which suggest that IPOB was determined to undermine security and peace in the South East, which is an integral part of the country.
To buttress their point, the Igbo elders drew attention to the attack on security operatives within the Orlu council of Imo State, warning that the proscribed group may likely carry out more daring attacks, unless urgent action was taken to deter them.
Recall that accusing fingers have pointed to IPOB as being behind Tuesday’s attack on Abayi police station in Aba, Osisioma Ngwa local council of Abia State, which resulted in the death of two police officers and burning of the station.
While condemning the violent campaigns of members of the separatist group, the elders called on Igbo sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora,to dissociate themselves from the group, with a view to sending a strong message across, that IPOB does not represent the views of Ndigbo.
They reminded the public that the IPOB remained a “terrorist organisation”, having regard to an order of a federal high court in Abuja, which proscribed its activities, at the instance of a request by the federal government.
In a statement on Friday, which was jointly signed by its National President, Mazi Prof William Okocha, and National Secretary, Barr Miss Irene Chizoba, the group threw its weight behind the call by Ohanaeze Ndigbo for a review of the recent appointment of Service Chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari.
While harping on the application of federal character principle in making sensitive appointments, the concerned Igbo elders decried what they considered was growing exclusion of the South East in national affairs.
The statement reads in part: “We use this opportunity to call on the military and other concerned authorities to bring the full weight of the law to bear on the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra, in a manner that will ensure the restoration of permanent peace and order to the South East region.
“As respected elders committed to national unity, peace and cohesion, we rise in condemnation of the violent activities of IPOB, which we hasten to note, are not a representation of the Igbo.
“Ndigbo are peace-loving and peace-building people, whose commitment to the national cause is irrevocable, regardless of the negative tendencies of a few deviants, who have constituted themselves into cogs in the wheel of progress.
“Now is, therefore, the time for all well-meaning Igbo sons and daughters, to condemn the wicked activities of IPOB, to drive home the point that they do not have our endorsement – tacit or open.
“How long shall we allow IPOB to lead this campaign of destruction against our collective will, before we rise against them with all our might and strength?
“While the dust raised by their attack on security operatives within Orlu and its environs was yet to settle, we woke up on Tuesday to witness the mindless attack on Abayi police station in Aba, Osisioma Ngwa local council of Abia State, which claimed the lives of two officers.
“Apart from IPOB, we also want to raise serious concerns over the continued exclusion of our zone from national issues, the latest being the non-consideration of any military officer of Igbo extraction for appointment as Service Chief.
“The Conference of Concerned Igbo Elders for Peace and National Unity observes that this trend has been amplified under the current administration in the country”.
https://www.independent.ng/attacks-on-police-station-ipob-taking-separatist-struggle-to-extreme-igbo-group/ The above crap is a conjecture from a deluded mind. IPOB was peaceful and only engaged in nonviolent demonstration, it was not good for the idiotic government of Nigeria led by moronic fool. The government killed, subjected them to inhuman torture and branded them terrorist. Why would any person criticize IPOB for making a U-turn in their modus operandi? It is very silly to brand a group as terrorist and expect the group to act as boy scouts. |

Gjrich: At least 35 persons have been killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits in Sabuwar Tunga village, Dankurmi district in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
SaharaReporters gathered that the armed men arrived the community on motorbikes and unleashed terror on the defenceless residents.
A resident of the town said the attack, which was carried out on Thursday night, was a well-planned and coordinated attack.
He said the gunmen after attacking the village carted away livestock and escaped to the forest.
“We have recovered over 35 bodies after the attack and many more residents have not been accounted for. They came at the midnight and opened fire on the village, shooting anyone on sight and burning houses,” the source said.
Deadly attacks have raged across Zamfara state where bandits have thrived.
Farming and herding communities in the state have long been terrorised by gangs who raid villages, stealing cattle and kidnapping residents for ransom.
In 2019, the Zamfara state government entered a peace agreement with the gunmen.
About 15 brand new Hilux vehicles and cash gifts were also given to leaders of different 'repentant' banditry groups by the governor in 2020.
But despite all these, communities in the state are still being attacked and residents kidnapped and/or killed. It is funny the southwestern media houses have gone dumb and foolish. Nigerians must call spade a spade. It is no longer fashionable to call them hoodlums, they refer to them as bandits to suit their silly narratives. These people are terrorists and should be treated as such. Since the idiotic government of Nigeria had branded non-violent group as a terrorist, the method of naming has changed. The violent groups are called bandits or hoodlums while the non-violent groups are regarded as terrorist. When a country cannot even properly identify a group, the country is a shithole. |

Yves4real: Firstly, I like to commend the northerners for matching their words with actions. They promised to stop sending agricultural products to the south and they are fulfilling it which shows that they are serious. If you think I am lying, go to big markets around you and find out. I salute the northerners. You guys are the MVP. Secondly, what is the plan of the southerners? We know how farmers in the south were killed by the marauding fulani herdsmen over the years and those that escaped the killings abandoned farming. Now, the south is being punished for standing by against the reckless killings of farmers and taking over of their farms and forest reserves by fulani herdsmen. Isn't it time they take control of their God-given natural resources (crude oil)? Sell your crude oil and import food. Meanwhile, the following people should leave the petroleum industry's board especially NNPC: 1. Mele Kyari - GMD, NNPC. 2. Dr. Tajudeen Umar- board member. 3. Mallam Mohammed Lawal- board member. 4. Dr. Mahmoud Isa Dutse - board member, e.tc. Everyone should return to their tents and form an ally with their people. Finally, the silence of the northern elites is an indirect support of the threat. So, what is good for the goose should also be good for the gander. Over to the ND militants, ICY, MASSOB, Afenifere, PANDEF e.t.c. The most useless human beings in Nigeria are southerners. It reared its ugly head in 1967 and never tapered off. |

Politics › Re: Agencies Disobeyed Osinbajo’s Directive On 24-hour Port Operation –NPA MD by Idiko1: 6:48pm On Feb 25, 2021 |
iwaeda: The Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman, said some Federal Government agencies operating at the ports disobeyed the directive and executive order signed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on ensuring 24-hour port operations and synergy among such agencies.
Usman said this during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ programme on Thursday which was monitored by our correspondent.
The NPA boss said Osinbajo, while serving as acting President in 2017, signed an executive order on the promotion of transparency and efficiency in the business environment and directed the resumption of 24-hour operations at the Apapa port and banned touting by officials or unofficial persons at any port; be it air, land and sea ports in Nigeria.
She, however, stated that apart from the NPA, other Federal Government agencies had refused to obey the executive order and no sanction had been handed down to them.
Usman said, “If you recall there is an executive order that was signed by the Vice-President which directed all agencies of government to conduct inspection (of containers) in one location and that executive order was signed in 2017.
“Certain agencies of government have not complied and one of the things we have said is sanctioning for non-compliance of an executive order that was released cannot be done by the Nigerian ports.
“If an agency of government violates an executive order signed by the Vice-President, I believe the Vice-President and indeed the Presidency should sanction that agency for non-compliance but that has not been done. The executive order sought to have all agencies do inspection in one location hence consignees don’t have to have multiple areas of inspection.”
The NPA boss said she had reported the matter to the Presidential Council on Ease of Doing Business chaired by Osinbajo but no sanction had been given to the errant agencies.
Usman argued that port operations would not run smoothly if it is only the NPA that is meeting its obligation.
She added, “There is an executive order to that extent. Some agencies have not complied. There have been several explanations and justifications for the non-compliance by these agencies. The NPA has raised it to the Presidential Council on Ease of Doing Business chaired by the VP to ensure sanctioning for non-compliance and as I keep saying, if a directive is given and agencies don’t comply, if there are no consequences for action and inaction that means I have not performed.
“We must be held accountable for not complying with a directive. For example, we have 24-hour port operation that has been directed. All agencies of government are required to deploy personnel to have 24-hour port operation. We deployed our personnel but the other legs were absent. And of course, we cannot sanction other agencies of government.
“We drew the attention to the Presidential Council on the Ease of Doing Business to ensure those agencies also participate in the 24-hour ports and that non-compliance has to be done by the Presidency arising from the executive order.”
https://punchng.com/agencies-disobeyed-osinbajos-directive-on-24-hour-port-operation-npa-md/ This is freaking disheartening about Nigeria. Is there anything in Nigeria not headed by a goon from northern region of Nigeria? Where did Yoruba and southern minorities that fought against Biafra get it all wrong?
