Family › Re: Why Do Some Nigerian Families Not Like To Help Each Other by ifyalways(f): 3:55pm On Apr 06, 2011 |
melidee: My friend is also married to a Nigerian man but recently they got into great difficulty as her husband was told to go home from a holiday cause the country said the Nigerian passport was no good i.e fraudulent. Anyway my friend travelled back to Britain and her husband back to Nigeria. She was pregnant at the time 6 months+. Well anyway this girl always praised her husbands Nigerian family for various reasons and mainly because she did not really know them . Although she has met them her husband never told her the truth about them and so she did not know that they would treat her and her husband the way they did when her husband ran into trouble. whilst she was in hospital just after giving birth alone to the child one of her husbands sisters called her and decided to shout at her saying she was not happy with her the wife as she did not call the other sister who was visiting London at the time to come and see the baby. My friend tried to explain that she was still in hospital and previous to this was dealing with her husbands absence which she describes like she is mourning for her husband. She did contact the other sister and explained that she did not have anywhere for her to stay really. (but it was mainly to do with finances as her husband was not there only getting maternity pay she could not feed an extra mouth). Later nobody has called her from the family to ask of the baby and also her husband complains that he has nobody to help him financially he is not in a good place no money no family. Now my friend dint understand shes like i thought his family would be there for him through thick and thin but unfortunately not. My friend does not have money to pay for the flight to go and see her husband just yet the baby is 5 months old and her husband Neva saw the baby. She cant understand why nobody has spoken to her or are not bothered that the husband did not see the babyont know what to say to her, what do you think? Please only articulate comments no slander. Nigerians carry Fake Nigerian passport too? @Thread,were the guys family against the relationship from the on-set? Well, you have no one but urself. The economy is generally bad now,no one has hand-outs to give. The lady and guy ought to have thought of finances before deciding to have a child.Best she can do now is to concentrate on taking care of herself and the baby, the husband wud sort himself out. As for the family, too bad but you cant force anyone to like or accept you.Ignore them and move on. |

Islam › Re: Lagosboy : Forgiveness In Islam by ifyalways(f): 10:22am On Apr 06, 2011 |
Lagosboy: In the name of Allah most gracious most merciful
Forgiveness in islam in terms of war is totally different from forgiveness in our daily affairs.
Islam is a practical religion and not an ultra idealistic superficial faith. In terms of war,war is war, when you are attacked you have to repel evil and oppression. In islam when your right is trampled upon or taken away from you , one has to fight for ones right and claim it back and this brings me to the issue of palestine. The palestinian lands have been illegally stolen and they have every right to fight for their rights. The occupied terriotories is deemed illegal by the UN and ICJ so there is no debate over that at all.
The doctor that forgave the killers of his children is a personal issue and does not mean anything in terms of a battle. If your people are killed you have to fight to save your children from being slaughtered and that is what Allah says in the quran. " . . . Why do you not fight in the cause of Allah and the weak among men, women and children whose call to their lord is our lord exit us from this town of which its inhabitants are opressors , , ," Q4 v 74-75
In our daily affairs it is different and all the verses at the begining of this thread applies and we have to forgive people of their faults as we beg Allah for forgiveness. However forgivenss does not stop resoration of ones rights as they are two different things entirely. Someone swindled me and I take him to court and tell the judge i have forgiven him but i want my money resotred to me and spare him from punishement. Same applies to a thief who stole someones money and begs Allah for forgiveness, Allah will forgive him but the forgivess does not replace the retribution of which he has to give the stolen goods back. This is a wide topic in islam and it is "forgiveness and expiation of sins". When one wrongs a fellow human being Allah will forgive him as long as the sinner begs the wronged person as well forgiveness and such is the justice of Allah.
It is better to to sin against oneself than to sin against other people, when one commits sin against oneself you can ask Allah for forgivenss and Allah can expiate your sins by whatever means he chooses but when you sin against others and you dont pay them back their rights or ask for their forgivenss, on day the day of judgement you will pay them back with your good deeds or if you dont have they will give you their bad deeds which brings me to the hadith of the prophet. ". . . The bankrupt of my ummah is he who comes on the day of judgement with lots of salah, fasting and good deeds but always slanders people, backbites, abusive or trampled on others rights e.t.c. he has to pay all this people back until his good deeds finishes and still indebted to people of which they will give him their bad deeds" We seek refuge from Allah from this!
This is just to show how important good character is in islam and when one is a muslim you have to treat people good and have a good character. You could have the longest hijab or beard and still be bankrupt on the day of judgement if you dont take care in your dealings with people.
I hope i havent confused anyone and please feel free to ask further questions if this is not clear.
And God indeed knows best. Well said. Jazaakallahu Khairan. |

There are few things I don't quite right here. Did they do traditional marriage proper?or it was just an engagement? The first separation, did the girl inform her parents? If she did NOT,shes got no one but herself to blame for what she is going through now.Once a couple marries traditional and any of the party asks for separation, the first and right thing to do is to inform ur parents and IF in future you guys want to get back again, families wud be involved. In my small helmet sha,Once the traditional marriage proper is done,You guys become husband and wife.White/church wedding is formality/Oyibo follow-follow mentality/religious "must-do" while a court wedding is a legal proof for security reasons. I blame ur girlfriend for not securing herself, getting a legal paper proof of their marriage, not saying that wud have stopped the man but its a measure that sometimes control and keep the beast in men in check. There is more to this couple than what we have heard,4 years of staying together and no child?4 years and they could not have their so-called white wedding? They obviously have bigger issues which either both parties assumed they could sort out or/and one or both of them was selfish and not ready to change. How on earth wud someone come to ur parents house, marry you then wake up one day,ask for separation and u leave without at least informing ur parents only for you to still go back to service him,do his laundry blah blah ?the girl well so ? IMO,what they just had is a divorce and not BF/GF dumping or heartbreak.I hope she learns from this. |

sadboy: shaking bus cannot kill baby. i ve seen pregnant women pounding dancing even fall from up steps yet they deliver bouncing babies it make the babies more stronger and adventural Not so true. Some of us are fragile while others are khaki, made of sterner stuff. @Topic,IMO,the first step to a healthy pregnancy and child birthing is a loving and caring husband. Some women have been able to do it alone . . .I respect such women but I cannot do without feet-massage,extra TLC,shoulder and body rub down, breakfast in bed, happy and loving atmosphere that comes with pregnancy. Next is health personnel. Please,no advice, drug, mood or exercise fits for all.Pick and use a tested and trusted Gyn/Obn and listen to him/her,be very open and truthful to him/her.Do not try drug without his/her knowledge and consent. It worked for Mrs A does not mean it wud work for you. Why or what prompted you to lie, fabricate an excuse? You don't just feel like driving, you are not very free with your PIL ? There is no rules that says you should become your PIL's driver however little things matters alot. You could have done it,it won't take anything off you. deniyor: In every relationship, couples quarrel. We all have friends we confide in and solicit advice from about on different aspects of our lives. When is it a bad idea(or a good idea) to involve a friend(s) in a fight you are having with your significant other? What would you do if your partner tells (or involves) his or her friends about a fight you are having. It depends on the individuals involved. I personally, would NOT discuss my husband with any soul . . .Thank you,None of my friends/pals wud ever attain that status. If Im having issues with him,I wud discuss it with him . . .don't care if im gonna talk abt same issue for donkey years, hes worth all the effort. Discuss it with trusted friends and have them discuss it with their own trusted friends?Gossip chain? No,way. Besides, what wud outsiders do for me when I complain/seek their counsel? Are they living with me?Wud I be 100% sincere to them and like wise them? They wud only tell you what they "think" which in most cases wud not be the same thing as your spouse's thoughts. If na BF/GF then maybe Yes,to close and mutual friends. |
