IMAliyu:
In Protestant Christianity baptism doesn't prevent one from entering heaven.
In catholicism all unbaptised persons can't enter heaven, but those that don't deserve hell will just end up in purgatory.
Though i think the Pope and Catholic church have changed their position on this.
don't say what u don't know.
in catholicm baptism is an outward sign of inward grace. it is a sign that initiates u into the church.

Unfortunately this is where the problem comes in.
There are still lots of igbos that are blindly investing and building factories outside the East.

Although to be honest, IPOB rise and the emergence of the “ Aku Lou uno”mentality is beginning to force some to rethink their footsteps.
pls stop mentioning IPOB, when talking of Igbo progress. those guys have done more harm than good.

PoliticsRe: Increase Rice Production with Mechanization instead of border closure by ifyboy60(m): 11:17pm On Nov 09, 2019
Blue3k:
It causes goods to be expensive, can negatively effects other sectors of the economy and makes certain sectors uncompetitive. It's not an absolute good or evil. You just have to be careful about applying these policies.

Negative examples:
• Import ban on beef makes beef expensive for consumers.
• Domestic beef industry uncompetitive compared to foreign counterparts.
• Protectionism for cement industry makes home building more expensive in Nigeria.
well it sometimes becomes necessary when your supposed foreign trading partners start cheating.

Ghana has a policy that prevents other nationalities from doing small scale trading in their own country but wouldn't mind Ghanaians doing small scale trade in other people's country.

Ghana has one of the highest import duties in West Africa forcing companies to be domiciled in Ghana.

I don't think Ghana should complain of any country's protectionism
PoliticsRe: Increase Rice Production with Mechanization instead of border closure by ifyboy60(m): 11:03pm On Nov 09, 2019
Blue3k:
Lol if you actually read the article you know farmers dont have to buy the machines. India increased it's Mechanization rate by getting private sector and government to lend out machines to farmers. The plan worked without them having to shut borders. Reasonable tarriffs on rice and enhanced border security work just as well.

80% of farming is done by small scale farmers anyway. Government should simply streamline the process and consider commercial farmers. It's probably not good a idea because that's going to lead to bigger crowding out effect.

I dont see why you guys praise Maoist China's policies when you know China biggest improvement came after liberating their markets. The great leap to starvation isn't what any sane person would copy.
they just mindlessly quote china's Mao strategy that failed woefully and starved more then 10 million Chinese to death.

It was technological advancements, good border controls and better farming practices that liberated china and it all happened after Mao died.

But our dull Nigerians won't reason anyways, after all we voted Buhari, twice.

if it was ISIS then our own don finish be that na.lol

truth is Nigeria is not as rich as u think. Our budget at most is 30billion dollars. I think the South African bugdet is around 100billion dollars and they have a population of 40 million while we are 201 million with a budget of 30 billion, we are poo,r though we have potential.
Worst still, the money will still be looted

We can only deploy jets easily if we manufactured them. We have to buy, and the selling country might not even want to give us what we need. Who gives out there best stuff.

u can't bomb Lagos because it's not the land u are bombing but the main enemies who goes to war to bomb ground? Now talking of sambisa it's large but it doesn't mean soldiers can't bomb Boko Haram in it when soldiers push in Boko Haram will retreat Airforce will monitor the skies with jets and drones and bomb any living soul it finds in that forest while the army does clear out mission and talking of soldiers it's not only army that is fighting Boko Haram both Airforce and Navy ground troops are stationed there and I didn't mention 80 thousand troops even US military doesn't deploy 80k troops for war I am talking about the soldiers over there
look how it sounds easy for you.
you don't get @IamAtikulate point.

1. we don't have the resources to carry out such air raids over a large geographical location. each sorties (bombing mission) by a jet costs more than 20million naija.
2.Our jets are old fashioned with little equipments, and low bombing impacts, our pilots are not top notch. during the Biafra war, it was Egyptians, Pakistans and Russias that handled the Nigerian Air Force, most of our jets were bought by Shehu Shagari.
3. if we can't deploy more than a hundred thousand troops we can't achieve what you are imagining and we honestly can't.

communism can help nigeria.

Nigeria practiced communism when the government built and controlled industries and provided employment in various sectors.

Every state in nigeria should boast of an industry controlled by the government. That way, unemployment and local content can be boosted.

Let's face it, capitalism isn't working for us
Nigeria never practiced communism, rather we practised a mild form of social democracy which failed spectaculary anyways.
remember NITEL, MTEL, Ajaokuta Steel, Delta Steel, all the government owned Silos have longed collapsed.

our best chance is capitalism, with government controlling health and Education sectors as is done in Scandinavian countries.

to be frank, China is not 70 years old. the people republic of China is 70 but China is over 2000 years.
it existed as different dynasties, like Ming, Han etc

And have always been an advanced society, they invented printing, paper currency and many ground breaking advancements.

I will rather say Israel, who got their independence in 1948 after the holocaust.
