This brings back memories, my first trip on Taxify after activation was delivery trip, I collected an item in festac and delivered to the best lady and nicest rider in Maryland, from there we went to the island, from there we went to yaba, it was an awesome trip for me, we still talk on WhatsApp, and she’s getting married next month.

I downloaded the uber driver app, logged in and I was asked to upload a pic. Which I did but was just a random pic and I got an email this morning

Does this mean I passed the exam and I'm in?
You uploaded ur neighbor pix thinking Uber won’t know, anyway Uber won’t send you any mail concerning the test you took, you would ve to go there office at Maryland to know if you passed the test or not, remember it’s after 48hrs of taking the test

do people still make money on uber? uber is slavery at its peak and it's so shameful that an international brand that has a good reputation wiĺl decide to cheat it's partners irrespective of the amount spent on fuel, the rates are just ridiculous not too talk of the risk involved, I suggest drivers should boycott uber
Complete slavery, I did a 3hrs trip today on Uber, the Fare was 2515, I was like wtf, the whole traffic I encountered wasn’t included, i fucking hate Uber, now I am going to use them when am in a bad location like Abule gba, In fact I need to start rejecting rides going to places like, Agege,Ogba,Abule Gba, Ota, the traffic in those location are crazy and Uber doesn’t give a damn, they only calculate normal distance to those locations without the traffics in those areas.

Last nite I had real time experience of what drivers go thru on the road.

I closed @ 6pm, was about leaving the workshop when I decided to turn on my uber app. I saw surge right where my workshop is located. I received first trip almost immediately but it canceled after a few mins. I then decided to drive a bit while waiting for next request. Got one on oba-akran (by then Dynamic pricing had left the building)drove to mangoro area picked a rider to lekki phase 1 (home of surge) trip was fantastic cause we had to look for ways around traffic (much longer routes)before 11pm I had completed 6trips @ over 10k. It was time to go home. Set destination back to mainland and it popped the Mumu network stability error try again another time. So I decided I will leave it on and cancel any trip not going my way. I was deep inside ajah heading home when I heard an uncomfortable sound from the serpentine belt area.....

I ignored it... by the time I got close to lekki phase 1 round about I had the battery light on with the engine running, stiff power steering and rapidly climbing coolant temperature values.

I am driving my Avensis 1998 2002 and it uses a 3piece belt. I turned off all major electrical gadgets except the engine (head lights, DVD systems, airconditioning) I used the hazard lights instead.

I stopped accessed the damage and realised all 3 belts had been ripped of by the larger belt.

Got back into the car and drove to a well lit area where I could see a few cars parked.

Immediately I parked the HNIC came out of the dark, I addressed my self as Captain gazzuzz of kano pillars international HNIC became calm, I told him my war was going to sleep in his care and I would pick it up in the morning, he had no problem with that.

I called one of my colleagues on the phone, and in a matter of minutes, a 407 with a horse whip on the dashboard appears, I bullied the driver to the passenger side and drove to workshop.

Got to workshop picked up another vehicle and headed home.

got to gate and seems the security guy was in a valentine spirit. Did everything possible to wake him up, my guy no appear.

So I turned on my app and headed to magodo as instructed by my Oga in the business. True to his words lagos started moving again, this time back to lekki.....

2 more trips, then I headed back to area where my faulty vehicle was parked.

I didn't allow HNIC see me, I located another area where I saw over 20 toyota corrola cars with drivers inside all sleeping cheesy

Any way I said to my self, this area must be safe.

turned off app set chair low and got some shut eye.

I knew my serpentine belt was a bit frayed, but I had been procrastinating for almost a year now on replacing it, finally my village people Got me on 14 Feb.

Moral of the story

Keep vehicles as sound as possible. Replace all faulty parts as soon as you notice to avoid disappointments like this.

And if you can, keep a spare in the boot.

One thing I hate must in my life is my car disappointing me, I remember when my car gear knob broke during a trip, I acted so cool that rider didn’t notice what had happened, this happened in V.I, after I dropped off the rider, I could not pack the car coz the gear was broken, I was panicking buh was within coz this has never happened to be before, luckily for me it was during the day so I kept on matching my breaks, then used my screwdriver to lose the remaining parts of the gear knob, then held only the iron and packed, that was when I knew I have mind.

One the other news, I having an issue with my Honda Accord EOD 2004, when am accelerating my car jerks forward with force and stop, like something that bursted, then continue till it happens again when I slow down and accelerate again and it happens again, when I put off my engine and put it on again it stops and might not happen again. I need solution to this problem, I went to my mechanic he checked my car dashboard and saw the green main cruise was on, so he said it was the cause of it and used his machine to put it off, buh it’s still happening, I google and I saw somethings about Ignition coil being faulty, please General engineer Guzz what do you think?

I have a simple operational policy - I don't do return trips. In fact, once I get to the final destination, I politely end the trip because "somebody is waiting for me at the airport". I collect my fare first, then we now discuss this new trip you want me to do, with me asking the rider to get a trip quote from the app first, which I will then use to decide how much I will charge. For example, I had a female rider I picked around 11pm from an estate in Ogba to Gbagada. We got to her place around 12 midnight and then she asked if I could take her to Egbeda, after she showers and freshen up. I told her yes, but that I will end this trip first, collect my fare and then bill her #1000 for wait time of 30 minutes and trip fare of #4000. I live in Egbeda, so it was pretty convenient for me. She agreed and we did the trip after she freshened up.
The more I follow this thread the more I learn, before I can be so nice, now no more waiting more than 5min, I wait 5-10min then am out, buh I must make sure I get my complete fare b4 leaving. Will continue following these thread. kiss kiss kiss

You can say that again!! i had a not so palatable experience sometimes last month as well.
Dropped off a rider around 11:30pm in an estate, killed engine to take a leak only to get back in and car refused to start. turns out the battery was dead and the car was hard starting that morning but i ignored it thinking ill call mech to check it at work on Monday, make i use weekend cash out afterall i bought the battery in January 2017.
I looked around and all gates were locked, nobody to ask to help jump-start,no cars parked on the street, called rider for assistance and she was like all her neighbors were out, i was OYO.
Thank God for small sense, i requested taxify, called the driver, introduced myself as a driver and explained my predicament. The man came through immediately he heard i was a driver, helped jump start and even refused taking any cash for the assistance.

God bless that man!! Imma repay some other driver someday.

i still made the new battery money that weekend tho cool
Good to know some drivers are willing to help each other.

Spent the whole of yesterday fixing Ac, It was fixed for 25k, the dude did not buy a new compressor, buh he promised that if the ac goes bad less than 6 months he will use his money to fix it, that’s the deal.
Also he configured a thermometer, even tho I told him before my ac went bad that the internal thermometer was working properly, he argued and said it’s not working.

It is so surprising that guys are realizing so late that Uber is a complete cheat. I don't drive on Taxify yet but I am preparing to dump Uber.

What I do to break even on Uber is when rider tells me where they are going, I then decide if I would put my A/C on or not. Some trips are just not worth it with Uber, I give drivers all type of excuses for not being able to have air condition on the ride an be as friendly as possible to still be able to get a good rating.
You never carry witch before be that, I remember carrying a man from the airport last week, he said he was at arrival, so I went to MMA1 on getting there he called and said he was at MMA2, because of the traffic there I took about 7min to turn back and returned to him, when I picked the guy he said he would ve canceled just that he saw I was Igbo so he kept quiet and not cancel, ok I apologized and he accepted, we even spoke till he got to his destination. Do you know this man gave me a poor rating after everything. What am trying to say here is that some people will smile with you, and still report you, Nigerians can be damn wicked.

There's no boost anything. Taxify pays divers than uber, I have compared my uber trips with Taxify with guys that did same distance, Taxify always tops uber fares by N250 to N350. Some serious get up to N400.
Even some of my riders always ask me how do uber drivers break even especially those that use bigger cars that uber fares are too cheap.
Taxify is far far better than Uber in fare, for driver, Uber that charges as low as 160 naira for a trip, even the rider was laughing at me, asking me how I even make money on it.

Bro pls I crave ur experiential comment. My driver uses a mobile phone for uber. When he starts a ride, he puts d phone off (it overheats if he doesnt) and puts it on when approaching final destination. Does it affect the calculation of the distance(km) traveled?

Also he did 466km last week and claimed he spent #19k on fuel. Is that possible? Its a corola 2008 1.6l (big size) sound engine
Was making that mistake my self because my phone was getting hot too, I use an iPhone 7 and it still gets hot as hell, so I put it on the car vent during trips. He should never put his phone off during a trip it affects the fare calc, I repeat he should stop putting off his phone during trip, I lost so much money because of that mistake until I realized what I was doing wrong, luckily for me am driving my own car.

Since 10k has become a bone of contention, let me help you.

Tell your technician to provide you with the following information and I will tell you exactly what to change on your air-conditioning system that will make it function perfectly.

1.present Colour of compressor oil. E.g clear, light brown, dark.

2. Discharge all refrigerant, pull a vacuum @ 13psi on high and low side wait 3hours and record readings.

3. Pull vacuum again and recharge system with 0.5gramms of 134a refrigerant.

4. Start engine, record exact engine speed.

5. Turn on a/c leave to run for 2mins record engine spped.

6. Record values of a/c pressures on high and low side with ambient temperature @ 29-30degrees celcius.

7. Record values of a/c pressures on high and low side with ambient temperature @ 32-40degrees celcius.

8. Record cabin temp in number 6 above.

9. Record cabin temp in number 7 above.

10. Set engine speed to 2000rpm and record values of high and low sides of airconditioning.

11. Ensure coolant temp readings for every step is recorded.

12. if "2" above drops to about -1 to -6psi in three hours, install U.V dye in system, run airconditioning system for another 3hours then use U.V light to detect patches of U.V dye on a.c lines and compressor area. Record all results.

13. Disassemble glove of compartment, use electronic sniffer to check for leaks from evaporator.

14. Discharge all refrigerant, block off entry and exit points on a/c line to evaporator, pull vacuum and record values after 3hours.

15. Disconnect lines to compressor, block off lines, pull vacuum and record values after 20mins

16. Disconnect lines to condenser, pull vacuum and recored values. After 20mins

17. Do a visual inspection of fins of radiator and condenser. Clear all blockage.

You do not have to pay a diagnosis fee to me.

Just provide more info and I will tell you what the exact faulty parts are.
