thoth: Well, in Nigerian schools(nursery to secondary) unlike in other liberated countries , they never tell them that the Brits almost committed genocide on their ancestors, they never teach them that colonialism simply means enslavement of a whole nation, what they they teach them is the British version, the colonialist apologist version states that the Brits came to Africa to enlighten Africans, to stop them from their barbaric ways, that ancient Africans were fools who walk around naked and live on trees, that the Brits brought education and medicine to Africa, that African religion is extremely evil and Africans will not be anywhere if not for the white man that was so kind to help them.

This is what children learn in school,that is what i mean by the British version, that is what i mean that to liberate the African man is a very hard task.

Secondly, the Deputy President was not talking on behalf of Kenyans, rather he was talking on behalf of the country's leadership (i.e. himself and the President). Matter of fact, most Kenyans would be shocked if he showed up, considering that both the President and his Deputy have pending cases at the ICC. You don't need to be an International Relations and Diplomacy expert to know that it was an expected diplomatic move to express his disapproval of the leadership (ICC cases pending on them).

@ braine, before you lift up your wine glass to celebrate Kenya being "snubbed" by Obama, understand the context under which Ruto was speaking. Truth is, he was speaking for HIMSELF AND THE PRESIDENT, not Kenyans. He meant that the two of them will not be bothered by Obama's choice to snub Kenya (whether it's true or false, we can't tell). Comprehend that first; it will help you contribute to the topic with a clear understanding.
