Queen Amina of Zaria
The seven original states of Hausaland: Katsina, Daura, Kano, Zazzau, Gobir, Rano, and Garun Gabas cover an area of approximately 500 square miles and comprise the heart of Hausaland. In the sixteenth century, Queen Bakwa Turunku built the capital of Zazzau at Zaria, named after her younger daughter. Eventually, the entire state of Zazzau was renamed Zaria, which is now a province in present-day Nigeria.

However it was her elder daughter, the legendary Amina (or Aminatu), who inherited her mother's warlike nature. Amina was 16 years old when her mother became queen and she was given the traditional title of magajiya. She honed her military skills and became famous for her bravery and military exploits, as she is celebrated in song as "Amina daughter of Nikatau, a woman as capable as a man." (Amina, Yar Bakwa ta san rana)

Amina is credited as the architect who created the strong earthen walls around the city, which was the prototype for the fortifications used in all Hausa states. She built many of these fortifications, which became known as ganuwar Amina or Amina's walls, around various conquered cities.

The objectives of her conquests were twofold: extension of Zazzau beyond its primary borders and reducing the conquered cities to vassal status. Sultan Muhammad Bello of Sokoto stated that, "She made war upon these countries and overcame them entirely so that the people of Katsina paid tribute to her and the men of Kano [and], also made war on cities of Bauchi till her kingdom reached to the sea in the south and the west." Likewise, she led her armies as far as Nupe and, according to the Kano Chronicle, "The Sarkin Nupe sent her [the princess] 40 eunuchs and 10,000 kola nuts. She was the first in Hausaland to own eunuchs and kola nuts."

Amina was a preeminent gimbiya (princess) but various theories exist as to the time of her reign or if she ever was a queen. One explanation states that she reigned from approximately 1536 to 1573, while another posits that she became queen after her brother Karama's death, in 1576. Yet another claims that although she was a leading princess, she was never a queen.

Despite the discrepancies, over a 34-year period, her many conquests and subsequent annexation of the territories extended the borders of Zaria, which also grew in importance and became the center of the North-South Saharan trade and the East-West Sudan trade. — with Akerele Christiana Bukola, Ajoke Ajayi, Ayo Adebayo, Hasan Rufad, Furera Mohammed, Amanda Dee, Mudassir Abdullahi Ibrahim, Yemisi Adebayo, Bukola Faboyede, Binkie Christopher Brown, Mary Bosede Otokiti and Bamikola Adjaryieso.

Damn chemical and Nuclear energy is very hard. I hope you bring your skills to a Nigeiran company because Nigeria needs energy right now to power the factories and houses. When this happens then people will have more money to spend and invest also companies can lower prices because energy costs go down. This will be overall great for the economy. Yes undergraduate in us then I plan to get an MBA at maybe lagos business school. I am into economics so in order to undertand economics you need to know socialogy politics and history. So I study all of this on my spare time. Us africans have willy lynch syndrome because we have been trained to believe we ate inferior. We have to learnn about our great history in our past. Also our inferiority complex hurts the economy because we rather buy a whote mans product than a nigerians. So we have a love for foreign goods which depletes our foreign reserves. Quattara - a known former IMF executive, this guy that was hand picked by the western countries to rule Ivory Coast. We are finished. Nigerians reading this, don't take my words at face value, go and do your own research on why former President of Ivory Coast, Gbagbo was hunted and ousted  from power. This guy was trying to untie Ivory Coast from the shackles of colonial France, in other words, he was trying to untie Ivorian currency from french currency. Same way that France tied Haitian currency to theirs for more than 2 centuries and Haiti never made head way. Most of you might not understand this, essentially what this means is that the former colonial master(France) still controls the currency value of Ivory Coast. Gbagbo was hunted because he VOWED to untie Ivory Coast from the shackles of colonial slavery. They tell you in the mainstream media that Quattara won? Lets put this in context:  how did he win? Who decides on who won elections? What constitutional body has absolute and final say on election malpractices? Is it the supreme court or electoral body? My judgement tells me its the Supreme court and most of you will agree. Who decided the election of President Goodluck Jonathan vs. Buhari few weeks ago and in the past elections, was it Supreme court or Electoral body(INEC)? Of course it was the Nigerian Supreme court.   Who decided the election of Bush vs. Gore in 2000?  United Supreme court did. Now, conversely, when the Ivorian Supreme court ruled that Gbagbo was the winner of the election in Ivory Coast, the western world said, No! no! no! The electoral body or INEC in our case, has the final say. Who did these people think they are fooling? Like we are babies and can't think for our selves.

This guy Quattara is only there as ECOWAS chairman to carry out the bidding of western powers like outgoing-chairman Jonathan. What did Jonathan accomplish as ECOWAS chairman? Absolutely nothing. I am afraid to say this, yes Abacha was a dictator, by far, the best ECOWAS chairman the body has had. Go and read his accomplishments and how he brought peace to many unstable countries in West Africa. Why didn't Jonathan as ECOWAS(didn't even know he was ECOWAS chairman because never heard of him all those while) work with Zuma, former AU president to devise a plan to protect Libya and Gaddafi?

Spot on France runs Francophone countries. They live off black countries for like 200 years first Haiti now the Francophone countries. The only way is through revolution. We are always killing each other but we need to unite as one. All over Africa we need to unite rise against leaders who serve foreign interests.

The problem is that we have been rising for a long time. Like the Congo tried to rise against mobuto but the west gave him guns to put the people down. We need to keep trying because we will be slaves as long as they let us. South America has no more puppets besides Columbia. Middle East still has theirs like in Bahrain and Saudi. Africans we need to stop praying to Jesus or Allah for things to get better and take action.

There are just no opportunities and getting a job due to bad schools. Many AA 12 graders have the education of 8th grade white people. So many cannot finish university, it is a HUGE jump.

Nigeria and other African countries need to do this. A more socialist government would be better than this neoliberal policy that we have now.
