Buhari because he is anti-imperialism. The elections were probably rigged though. It is funny how Nigeria received their voting system from America and the west like goodluck.

Most of you people are slaves and self haters. Do you know your history? For the past 500 years, what have the Israelis done for Africa? What has the Europeans done for the past 500 years? Do you know your history? Do you know how international politics work?

In order for America to remain dominant, it must have a great military that kills many people to steal oil and other resources. That is why they will go to war with a country overnight like they did Libya. They will use political and economic imperialism in order to make things happen.

Political imperialism is controlling the politicians so they serve their interests. Economic imperialism is using the IMF, World Bank, and WTO in order to serve their interests. They also use bait like foreign aid in order to lure presidents. If these don't work then they kill over overthrow the government. If this doesn't work then they attack the country, like Libya, Iraq, or Afghanistan.

Most of Africa has political or economic imperialism. Only Zimbabwe doesn't. But there are economic sanctions on that country. The SOuth American continent rose up to imperialism with leaders like Evo Morales, Hugo Chavez and Correa of Ecuador. South America is sick of being exploited. Middle Easterns had revolutions and Egyptians are dying right now for a good governance. The west doesn't have anywhere else to go to but Africa since the leaders are easy to manipulate. America LOVES goodluck, he votes in favor of them all the time. Like in Libya and for Gbagbo. You need to understand that foreign imperialism is holding Nigeria back the most. But in Nigeria shouldn't be this corrrupt. That is why in the state level, there isn't as much corruption. That is why there should be a political and economic reform in Nigeria. But how many NIgerians are ready to die?

THen he later became the president of Liberia. How does that happen without American influence. Then Liberia had a bad war.Why let that happen? Who supplied the money for war? Those same people are doing bad things in Nigeria right now. They are also causing problems in Syria. I know you people love watching CNN and FOX News but why did it take them so long to cover the Occupy Movement? Why did they lie so much during the war in Libya? Why when they covered the famine in Somalia, they didn't talk about how America was at war with Somalia? How often do they cover the war in Congo? The 4th branch of the government is the mainstream MEDIA. They don't just control Afrians, they control many Americans as well. THis is why you guys are controlled so much.

The west have ruined lots of countries, the West are no different to dictators, they want to call the shots all the time, they woe and dine dictators and the next minute they topple them. Gaddaffi and Mubarak spring to mind, the West knew how ruthless and oppressive they were but turned a blind eye for years but suddendly realised they had to go. Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Russia are controlled by tyrants but the West are not trying to topple them, the West are pick and mix hypocrites. African leaders need to stop sulking up to the West.

Very true. But they tried to kill Gaddaffi for like 20 years, this is nothing new. Mubarak used to be a puppet but you need to understand. Western powers have no permanent friends, they have permanent interests. THey will suport one person as long as they play ball. If they don't play ball then they die or get overthrown. This can be in 1 year or 32 years. Whenever the puppet wants to be free they are gone.

On Tuesday, incumbent President Joseph Kabila took the oath of office after the official results from Nov. 28 elections were confirmed by the Supreme Court. The court confirmation closed the door on any investigation of an election process that international observers called “seriously flawed” and full of irregularities.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton issued a statement expressing the Obama administration’s “disappointment” with Mr. Kabila’s decision to take the oath of office without conducting a review of the electoral process. The European Union also expressed disappointment and said the EU would “reevaluate” its support for Congo in the coming year.

The South African government and Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe, meanwhile, congratulated Kabila. Mr. Mugabe, the only foreign head of state to attend Kabila’s oath of office ceremony, said that Kabila had “won thunderously against [opposition leader Etienne] Tshisekedi. This must send a clear message to those who had other ideas.”

Now all eyes have turned to Mr. Tshisekedi, the opposition leader. Mr. Kabila has deployed Army tanks on the streets of the capital, Kinshasa, to prevent protests, and Tshisekedi’s spokesman has said the opposition leader still intends on taking his own separate oath of office on Friday.

"I consider myself from this day on the president elected by the Congolese people,” Mr. Tshisekedi reportedly told his supporters on Sunday.

“I ask you to be calm and serene because a winner doesn't get agitated, does not worry, to the contrary, he remains calm,” [he was quoted by Congo News Agency as saying]. “As for those who are causing our troubles, starting with Mr. Kabila, I ask all of you to look for him, wherever he is in the country, and bring him to me alive. Whoever brings me Kabila here, handcuffed, will receive a very big prize. Also, Mr. Kabila’s government is dismissed from this day on. All officers, lieutenants, corporals and soldiers of the Congolese armed forces, I order you to obey to the legitimate authority. The same goes for the national and sovereign police force.”

In his investiture ceremony, Kabila promised to create more jobs, reduce Congo’s dependence on the mining industry for revenues, revise the rules for foreign investors in mining, boost agricultural production, and to respect human rights.

Reporters in Kinshasa say the streets were empty and quiet after Kabila declared a national holiday. But Tshisekedi, who is popular in Kinshasa and other urban centers across the Democratic Republic of Congo, has called for national strikes to protest what he calls a fraudulent election.

Official results from the Nov. 28 election show that Kabila won with 49 percent of the vote, compared with Tshisekedi’s 32 percent, but massive voting irregularities, including high turnout in certain pro-Kabila precincts and violent intimidation by both sides against rival activists were cause enough for outside observers like the Carter Center to declare that the elections “lacked credibility.” Tshisekedi refused to appeal the final vote tally to the Supreme Court, saying that most of the court justices were hand-picked Kabila supporters.

It is this level of doubt among significant numbers of Congolese that led the US government to call for a review process.

“We believe that the management and technical execution of these elections were seriously flawed, lacked transparency and did not measure up to the democratic gains we have seen in recent African elections," a State Department statement said.

"We strongly urge all Congolese political leaders and their supporters to act responsibly, renounce violence, and resolve any disagreements through peaceful, constructive dialogue."

The next move in this game of brinksmanship now belongs to Tshisekedi. Will he urge his followers to take the street? If he does, will Kabila urge the Congolese Army, police, and his own presidential guard to use deadly force against protesters?

The west has to reduce their standard of living in order to survive. Austerity measures will cause HELL in the west. You think the Lonndon riots were bad? WHen 10 million people riot it will be crazy. This is when the army will come.

The current people are just puppets for the west. Gaddaffi was working for his people.

Fact of the matter is that the Bretton Woods institution is still an important and essential organisation for global monetary stability and trade whether we like it or not.

We don;t need their system. They are broke because America just prints money to repay it and their dollar is not worth as much as it used to. They need Africa more than we need them, With out our cheap labor for extracting resources then they would be poor. They will do everything to keep Africa poor because they need cheap labor. They will control leaders, start wars, and cause hell in order to keep frica poor. THey see the Chinese as a threat so they are trying to get China out.

Great posts you have great ideas. The west controls more thing then most people know.They fund many African coups with the CIA American tax payers money goes to this. They are VERY protectionist and they only want resources but theey don't want finished goods from Africa. They control their FDI and make sure that they are getting their money's worth. They love exporting and don't want to import. THey protect their local industries and destroy other people's. THat is why they love for people to lower their tarriffs and won't do the same for them.

The west makes the rules and ALWAYS break them. How any international laws did Obama and past presidents break? Iraq? Libya? All of those are illegal wars. Then they will sen Gbagb to thehague for trying to hepl his people. Why not Bush for Iraq? Why not Clinton for Congo? NO they will never go to jail because they make the rules. They break many treaties with the Native Americans, do they get in trouble?

It is about imperialism, contrlling the economy or politics. If they don't then people die. If they cannot kill them, then it will be war just like in Iraq. Even though America left Iraq, they will be next to the country in Kosovo. THey spend over 500 billion dollars in military for a reason. to control the world's resoruces. By any means neccessary.

I just finished watching it and it is very interesting. I was expecting more things about Africa but he focused on the African American experience. He has really good ideas, but he shouldn't just keep his mind in America. He should talk about chocolate people in other countries, Carribean Islands, and Africa. THis is kind ofa global thing not just an American one.

In Africa, many foreigners come here and run many companies. It is annoying because there are plenty of Nigerians who can do the same thing but the DAMN LEADERS always invest their money outside of the country. They put money in British banks then the British invest in Africa take money and send it back in England, then they re=invest in Africa. It is SOOOO annoying. If those same leaders put the money in African banks then atleast the bank can give out loans to start businesses. In Indonesia, they invest in the country, in Africa they invest in Dubai, England, America, Switzerland but never Africa. Not even from Nigeria to Kenya or Nigeria to Ghana. Always outside of the continent.

Qadaffi was able to secure reparations for Libya from Italy - so Libya is effectively the only african nation to have ever secured reparations from its former colonial masters.

How much did Libya get?
Also if Europe gave reparations for every country they colonized, then they would be broker than they already are lol. But are Indians and people from Hong Kong asking for reparations? That is equivilant to Nigerians or Ghanaian getting reparations.

Good reparations would be for France to give 400 billion from the Colonial Pact back to the Francophone countries since it is their money. Then tell all of European/American leaders to get off of African affairs

I just started watching it right now. But also it wasn't just chocolate people, western Europe went around the world messing things up causing hell. Eastern Europe was raped by Russia and Western Europe. That is why eastern Europeans are flying to America and Britain. America would probably accept an Eastern European over an African due to white privilege.

But this man is right so far. But I have to ask, why don't Africans get reparations for anything? None for slavery, non for the Holocaust of the Congo from 1880s to 1910s or their current Holocaust right now. Or the Holocaust in Namibia in 1906 where 75,000 Namibians were killed by Germans. But the Jewish people, Japanese, and Native Americans received their reparations. Why not Africans?

The only reparations I saw that chocolate people e received was from the Rosewood massacre in 1920s. But they received their reparations in 1990s when most of the people died and the survivors were very old.

Me too, i am more spiritual now (without the rituals). Why isn't god helping the Congolese people? Why isn't go stopping Boko Haram? Why isn't god helping the Iraqi people or Syrians? Why didn't god help the Sudanese during the war in Darfur? How long have Africans been praying for and what did it bring to Africa? NOTHING. Just divide and conquer. We pray so much and wait for god for everything and do nothing.

We should be like the Japanese and get rid of all the missionaries and go back to our older religion. It also made us kind of worship white people because we worshiped a white Jesus. If we worship Christ, we should put it in our image like the Ethiopians did.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY: 16th December 1990 - Jean-Bertrand Aristide, a former Catholic priest, won Haiti's first democratic Presidential election, securing 67 % of the vote. Aristide was sworn in as President on 7th February 1991, but ousted from power in a coup d'état less than eight months later, on 29th September 1991. There had been an attempted coup against Aristide on 6th January 1991, before his inauguration.

The coup was condemned by both the United Nations (US) General Assembly and the Organization of American States and throughout the coup regime's existence, the only state to recognise it was ironically the catholic led Vatican City.

On 31st July 1994 the US Security Council passed Resolution 940 authorising a United States (US) led multinational force to restore Aristide to office, under "Operation Uphold Democracy". On 15th October, Aristide returned to power to complete his first term which ended in February 1996. Under the Haitian constitution he was not permitted to contest the next election and serve consecutive terms.

Aristide ran for Presidential office again in 2000, in an election boycotted by many of the opposition, which saw him securing 92 % of the vote. Soon after assuming power Aristide called for France, the former colonial power, to pay $21 billion in reparations for its economic exploitation of Haiti during the period 1825 to 1947. It is thought that this was one of the factors which lead to Aristide being overthrown in a second coup d'état on 29th February 2004. Aristide was forced into exile, flown first to the Central African Republic, then later to South Africa where he remained until returning to Haiti on 18th March 2011.

There is substantial evidence that the US, though ostensibly supporting "democracy" in Haiti, played a clandestine role in orchestrating both coups against Aristide. Wikileaks has revealed evidence showing that "the priest had to go" and following the second coup, Noam Chomsky commented:

"When Aristide was overthrown by the 1991 military coup, the Organization of American States declared an embargo. Bush I announced that the US would violate it by exempting US firms, Clinton authorized even more extreme violations of the embargo: US trade with the junta and its wealthy supporters sharply increased. The crucial element of the embargo was, of course, oil, Clinton secretly authorized the Texaco Oil Company to ship oil to the junta illegally, in violation of presidential directives. This remarkable revelation was the lead story on the AP wires the day before Clinton sent the Marines to "restore democracy,", Also efficiently suppressed were the crucial conditions that Clinton imposed for Aristide's return: that he adopt the program of the defeated US candidate in the 1990 elections, a former World Bank official who had received 14% of the vote. We call this "restoring democracy," a prime illustration of how US foreign policy has entered a "noble phase" with a "saintly glow," the national press explained. The harsh neo-liberal program that Aristide was compelled to adopt was virtually guaranteed to demolish the remaining shreds of economic sovereignty, The Aristide government, once again, was undermined by US planners, who understood, under Clinton, that the threat of democracy can be overcome if economic sovereignty is eliminated."

I don’t know whether you live in this planet which tourist is coming to Lagos - Nigeria with no roads, no electricity, 419's, arm robber and kidnappers having taken-over the country. If they make you the minister of tourism will you encourage tourist to come to Nigeria? Who is going to guarantee their safety? It will be good if most of you live outside Nigeria for a while you will know what people in Europe and other countries think about you. Be real. We your own people is scared to come to Nigeria for a visit you want foreigners to come on holiday, you are mad what have you got to offer. Lootering and suffering?

When power comes more jobswil be created this will lower the crime rate.  Also tax revenue will help it as well.
More factories for cameras and will bring cctv and better infrastrucutre and less crime.
