AmuDimpka:Igala is totally related to Yoruba. The language is Yoruboid. It's an academic fact established by linguists of international repute. You cant argue this. Igala assimilated aboriginal Igbos who where at Idah from the very beginning of Igala formation. As well as Igbos whose ancestral lands in Kogi East have been Igalanized. The same Igalanization was happening in Anambra North and Nsukka area before the arrival of the colonials. Though Nsukka people rallied together and defeated the Igala invaders. Igala assimilated aboriginal Igbos in Kogi East, while Ndiigbo assimilated Igala invaders and migrants(refugees) in Anambra North , Enugu North and Anioma . |
AmuDimpka:Mercy Chinwo is not Igbo Biko. Ikwerre is not Igbo. Stop this already. |
Revolva:I can't make sense of this verbose and edited response. I never said Igala came from Yoruba. I said that Igala ancestors were same people as Yoruba ancestors, until the Ebira migrated down and cut Igala ancestors off from Yorubas (Okun). This is the point Igala started differing from Yoruba, and when Igala met aboriginal Igbos in parts of Kogi East and assimilated them, they ended up creating a new language from Yoruba which was made more distinct by Jukun subjugation and Idoma influence on Igala. Igala is a relatively new creation. Igala = Igbo + Yoruba +Idoma + Jukun. Yoruba is clearly centuries older than Igala formation. Igala language is Yoruboid. Ibaji represents a disproportionate mixture of Igbo and aboriginals Yoruboid base of Igala, where Igbos seem to have contributed more percentage of the mixture than in other parts of Igala. The typical Ibaji man is Igbo in physical look and to large extent, mentality too. Igbos didn't borrow red cap from Igala. If Igalas will not recognize the existence of pockets of Igbo speaking groups whether bilingual or monolingual in Igbo language in Kogi East, like you lots are currently doing. Be rest assured that Igala in due time will also have to give up claims to pockets of Igala communities in Anambra North, Enugu North and Anioma. What is good for the goose is also after all, also good for the gander. You have refused to acknowledge the existence and presence of Igbo speaking groups in Kogi East. Choosing rather to refer to them as migrants and tenants. But you want Ndiigbo to not brand you as migrants in Anambra, Enugu and Anioma. Just pray Nigeria continues to exist, because the day Nigeria ceases to exist, will be the end of you and other aggressive minorities (Edo and Ijaw) who are looking to annex parts of Igboland you were accommodated in as refugees or which your ancestors invaded. Take note that we know our boundaries and will not be gentle in reclaiming them and laying to waste anyone or anything that would stand on our way. |
Revolva:Egypt is too far. Take a look at Igala language. It's basically a Yoruba language with Igbo corruption. The other non Igbo and non Yoruba parts of the language are imprints from Edo and Jukun. This is common sense. If the Ebira didn't migrate and separate Igala from Okun people, Igala would have retained touch with Yoruba language changes over time and would by now remain an integral part of Yoruba land. You don't also need a soothsayer to know that many parts of Ibaji are actually Igalanized Igbo enclaves. As the Jukuns pushed southwards under pressure from the Caliphate, the Igala pushed Southwards as both refugees and invaders and occupied parts of lands originally inhabited by Igbo speaking aboriginals. What happened in Ibaji, Akpanya and Co, now claimed by Igalas, was about happening in Igbo heartland of Nsukka and Anambra north where we have Igala invaders and refuges now co existing with Igbos. The history of Nzam and the invasion by General Ajida portrayed this history very well. History is science and do follow logical sequence. Telling me Igala fell off from Egypt or Igbo from Israel is irrational and doesn't make sense. |
Bottom line is that you can't claim because few Igala migrants running away from the Jukuns and were accommodated by peaceful indigenous Igbos of Midwest, that Anioma is no longer Igbo because they harboured Igala and Edo refugees. Because the same can be said of Igala and Edo. Igala in particular has Igbo component from the very beginning before the arrival of your Jukun overlords. We still know that places like Eke Avurugo, Akpanya, and parts of Ibaji are all not yet fully Igalanized in Kogi East. The aboriginal Igbos there are still showing signs of their Igbo heritage. Can we now say that Igala is not Igala, because Igbos were involved from the very beginning of foundation of Igala and there are yet Igbo speaking and bilingual Igbo speaking communities in Kogi East? |
Revolva:Idah was not always Igala. Idah was first occupied by proto Igbo and Proto Yoruboid speakers, with sprinkle of Edoids. That was until the Jukuns came and conquered all the groups present and united them under the Attah dynasty. The Attah is a Jukun man, he knows it. But the Igala are not Jukuns. They are the end product of Yoruboid, Igbo, Edoid and Idoma mixture. The Igbos in Idah were said to be under the leadership of a certain Achadu. There is nothing old about Igala. Igala is relatively new. That you had access to better weapons from Trans Saharan trade with which your Jukun conquerors used to terrorize parts of Northern Igbo, does not make you an ancient people. Even your Attah knows the truth. Would you mind telling us the origin of the Igala people? "Talking about the origin of the Igala people, a sizeable group migrated from Wukari in Taraba State from where they came to Benue along the River Benue and continued very close to the confluence at a place called Amagede by River Benue and slightly down from Amagede downwards to Idah and they settled there. And there, they met a sizeable population of the Yorubas and the Benins and to some extent, some Igbo. So the migrant population from Wukari merged with them and produced a language called Igala as a people " ~ Attah Igala https://punchng.com/im-first-attah-in-igala-history-with-one-wife-ameh-oboni/?amp=1 |
As for the Bini man called Jim Ovia and Emefiele, the OP who put their names there are on their own. Those men have wealth but lack understanding. Who is Chinwo Nnenda? What happened to Frank Edwards, Ada Ehi, Sinach, etc. Chinwo never reach to tie those ones shoe strings nah. Why add her here? Because she sings in Beautiful Igbo language? Haha! Don't be fooled, that language is too sweet, that's why even her Bini ancestors abandoned their Bini language for it. Chinwo and her Ikwerre people are confused Bini people. I can never accept an Ikwerre man as an Igbo man, because I really don't see what they havs to offer Ndiigbo in terms of human and other resources. OP is just looking for attention sha. Imagine putting Arthur Eze on top of an Igbo list with headliners like Dr Omalu, Chioma Ajunwa, Perpetual Nkwocha, Dr Echeruo that pioneered cancer cells detecting lenses for surgeries, etc, conspicuously missing What a joke. |
Jay jay Okocha Is from Ogwashi uku, likewise Okonjo Iweala. The Ogwashi uku monarchy is derived directly from Nri dynasty in Anambra, so the people while identifying with Anioma political union of Igbo speaking people in Delta, are also particularly proudly Igbos. Okocha has always been proud of his Igbo heritage. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pulse.ng/sports/jay-jay-okocha-former-super-eagles-maestro-jokes-about-his-ibo-accent/0lv63vs.amp Below is Okonjo Iweala thanking "Ndi banyi" (her Igbo people) for supporting her down the years through thin and thick. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.facebook.com/radiobiafra/videos/234367931156407/&ved=2ahUKEwj6no710NbqAhUDmVwKHTX9A1YQwqsBMAB6BAgOEAM&usg=AOvVaw3vEGK7sqvBD3hlpSY5YQ7y&cshid=1595069945449 If you are one of those Edoids carrying fake Bini stories of Super human Igbos who turned Anioma people who live next door to Edo into Igbo speaking people by mere interactions, I would suggest you get an Igbo man to interpret what Ngozi was saying there for you. Ndi oshimoshi! Ndi Uchu. Anioma are Bini descendants, yet you will never accept Nzeogwu from Anioma as a Bini man, and when Ojukwu replaced one of your own , Ejoor, with an Anioma man Dr Okonkwo as the administrator of Midwest , you Edoids all forgot they are Bini descendants and started accusing Ojukwu of running an Igbo agenda. Okonkwo and Anioma man suddenly became an Igbo man to you. Sometimes I wonder how some so called aniomas are so blind to your little minorities games. Ikegwuru. But Ndiigbo are grateful to the Royal house of Ogwashi uku, who are so full of wisdom and have not made themselves pawns in your political games. Ogwashi uku giants remain Igbo. |
By the way, the Elumelus are proud Igbos like most Enu-ani influential people are. Here is a video of Elumelu brother openly taking pride in his Igbo heritage before the floor of Nigeria national asembly in Abuja. So those Edoids crying over Elumelu inclusion here should eat their hearts out and know that not all Igbos in Delta are easy preys to their game. Fast forward the clip to 4:49-4:60 mins to see Elumelu joyfully identify himself as a proud Igbo man. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DaccQo5I5slc&ved=2ahUKEwiko8HPydbqAhXKQkEAHUwZAlc4ChCOODAAegQICBAB&usg=AOvVaw1OdIxlzP_KhTexfjiORoOB |
I know nothing gives Edoids/Ijaws who have their eyes set on Anioma and Igbo parts of River state more joy than to watch Igbos in Anioma and Upland Rivers deny their Igbo tag and disassociate themselves from their kin in South East. Many of these Edoids/Ijaws nurse plans of assimilating and rulling over these Igbo speaking groups, they want to be majority by assimilating them and using them to upgrade from their minority status. They are also scared that should these groups accept and embrace their Igbo tag, the SE would not allow them achieve their agenda. So like typical predators, they're working hard in isolating these Igbo groups from the herd(Igbo) so that they can take them down without having to deal with the Herd. And the truth is that they wouldn't be succeeding without the help of these Igboid groups who out of ignorance and shortsightedness make themselves easy pawns in their political chess game. This is why Ndiigbo from SE must let the Igboids be. |
Revolva:Keep quiet. Igala itself is an amalgam of Igbo and Yoruba, with a sprinkle of Idoma and Edo, who were conquered and currently ruled by Jukun dynasty from old Kwararafa kingdom. Your Igala has Igbo in it right from onset. We even still have Igbo speaking enclaves in Kogi East. If the Igbo, Edo and Yoruba in Igala didn't make Kogi East to stop being Igala , why should few migrant but assimilated Edo and Igala people in Anioma now mean that Anioma should no longer be Igbo? Doesn't Edo and Igala have Igbo migrants there as well? I don't blame you Edo and Igala, I blame the confused lots in Anioma who can't make use of their common sense. |

Agbaja is a type of soil type that is not so fertile for growing crops. |
Gburugburu is a monumental disappointment and disgrace to Ndiigbo. |
I don't understand how Vardy dangerous play on Mustafi didn't earn him a red card while Nketiah was sent off. They just ruined our match. So unfair. |
24SEVEN:I didn't join NL in 2007 to influence anyone, I joined to protect Igbo interests from non Igbo groups seeking to project us in bad light or to exploit us. Ikwerre just happens to be one of such non Igbo groups. I cannot divide what's not united. Ndiigbo and Rumu Ikwerre are not one. |
24SEVEN:Well, we are currently doing our own "strategic withdrawal". What is good for the goose should naturally be fitting for the gander too. |
merahki:Nnaa! I thought it was just me. |
24SEVEN:Nnaa! Your people started the denial game, we learnt from you and we are now taking it to the next level. ![]() |
AmuDimpka:You don't know what you speak of. I have been to rural Abia and Imo and they all cook Oha and Olugbu soups as native traditional soups. They never learnt it from Anambra. Abia and Imo don't know what is Ora. What they know is Uha/Oha and all local compounds there traditionally have Oha trees for easy plucking and cooking of the soup. You can't start speaking on these things when you have never visited these parts. It's insulting and smacks of arrogance. There are foods perculiar to parts of Igboland. But Oha and Olugbu is not part of it. As both of them are very universal in Igboland. |
AmuDimpka:There is no truth about Oha being Anambra soup. You can't stay in your lane and tell others their own food. Oha is enjoyed all over Igboland and no one invented it. It's even Imo and Abia people that call it Oha/Uha. In Idemili and Anambra central senatorial zone, we call it Ora. Yet the most popular name for the soup is Oha, which is the Imo and Abia version. Onugbu is also general Igbo soup, all over Igboland everyone cook Onugbu soup and no one learnt from each other. In Abia and Imo they call it Olugbo and most native houses have the Olugbo shrub as its fence. I was in an Asaba facebook page and they were claiming that Enuani people invented Nsala soup while Anambra people copied them. Lol! I couldn't contain my anger. Truth is that both Enuani and Anambra have been cooking the soup since time, no one taught each other. Ofe akwu is typical Anambra delicacy. Ukazi is Abia /Imo. I haven't heard of Ugu soup, what exactly is it? We have always cultivated and ate Ugu in Idemili so I don't understand how you say Ugu is Imo soup. Everyone always ate Ugu in Igboland. We traditionally used Ugu to prepare Okwuru soup in my part of Anambra. |
sassysure:Onye obodo. Yeah. ![]() |
Apawicked:OP seem to have a prejudice against us (Ndi Anambra) sha. Her anti Biafra rhetorics were so cringe worthy. I was just shaking my head. So if you have little squable with your brothers, it now means you should not remain a family anymore? What's even Anambra? An Ihiala man (supposedly Anambra) is more related to an Mgbidi man (supposedly Imo) than an Okigwe man from Imo is related to an Mgbidi man. Some people really need to stop all these unnecessary bickering. Igbo transporters increase fares during festive seasons! Boom! I said it, Biafra would not work, our people hate ourselves. Igbo man caught kidnapping! Yes I said it, Biafra will not work! Yet all these are happening in Nigeria and you are comfortable in Nigeria. You have minor squabble over soup on internet with fellow Igbo. Boom! I knew it, Biafra will not work! So just because of soup, ofe o! Biafra will not work. This is childish. SMH |
IDENNAA:They belong to no one. You have no way of proving that. We call it Ora and have our way of preparing it, but in Abia and Imo, it's Oha/Uha and they have special way of preparing theirs. It's arrogant of you to claim to be the originator of a dish a people have been cooking before they knew us, that's delusional. Ofe Onugbu/Olugbu is universal in Igboland, no one invented it. Nsala as as old as antiquity in Enu ani as it is in Anambra, it smacks of vain arrogance to claim they learnt it from us. You seriously should stop this. No IMO or Abia person will claim Nsala, they know it's not their soup, even in Anambra, parts like Orumba don't cook Nsala as a traditional soup. Isi ewu is a delicacy all parts of Igboland have always enjoyed, the Anambra way of preparing it just seem more popular these days. Some of you should stop bringing Anambra in direct collision course with our Igbo brothers in the name of unbridled hubris and supremacist tendencies. Many of us are not like that. |
So many misinformation here. Abacha is not owned by Enugu people. Other Igbos have been preparing Abacha their own way since Cassava was introduced into Igboland. Enugu method of preparing Abacha is just more popular in Igboland. Oha is not Anambra soup, it's an Igbo soup and again every part of Igboland have their own distinct method of preparing it. Why exactly are these realities hard for peeps to deal with? There are dishes typical to parts of Igboland and we know them . For example, Ofe Achara and Egwusi akpuru akpu is a typical Abia state/Umuahia soup. Ukazi soup seem to be Abia /Imo state soup Ofe Awa is Nkanu/Enugu soup Ofe Nsala is Anambra/Enuani soup |
24SEVEN:Fraudulent language stolen off Igbo language. |
24SEVEN:Please speak Bini. ![]() |
24SEVEN:You are dull. We are comparing Igboland with Ikwerreland not Abia with Ikwerre. Four random LGAs from Igboland (Uzo uwani, Udi,Ishielu and Ohaji/Egbema) is bigger than your 3.5LGAs in Ikwerreland when combined and compared. Deal with it, confused Ikwerre Bini man, hope you didn't inherit your ancestors permanent brain damage that made them lose Bini language. |
HopeAtHand:Well, you started the comparison. Fun fact, Niger state is almost same size as SW. We would not be having this conversation if Ikweres especially Amaechi were not trying to impersonate Ndiigbo. Yorubas do have argument with Bini of just 5LGAS here too. Any minority that challenges a majority for a fight should not cry foul when given a fight. |
