It's not the clothing that makes you who you are.
It's your traits, your character.

Mere wearing a ward coat and prancing around hospital wards does not make anyone a medical doctor. It's the character, the knowledge, the abilities.

Ikwerres might as well bear Igbo names and speak a corrupted version of Igbo language. But these people are not Igbos.
God forbid! The amount of Igbophobic behavior I have observed from Ikwerres. Not even Hausa Fulani or Yorubas could muster a quarter of it.

Those of you Igbos shouting that Ikwerres are Igbos are not doing Ndiigbo any good.
Nothing good could come to Ndiigbo from association with Ikwerres.

“There is something ethnic, and I am going through it now. If you check on the internet there are articles saying that Okonjo-Iweala has gone ethnic, but I believe in merit and competition and I don’t really care what part of the country you come from as long as you can do your job, and that has always been my tenet. So, actually Igbo don’t find that I am that convincing because, I think, in Nigeria, we need to have a culture of merit. But by the way, when you think of merit and competition Igbos don’t do badly and that is a problem,we do rather well. Somebody said everybody in the financial sector is Igbo then they began to list people like the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Director-General of Stock Exchange, Director-General of Securities and Exchange Commission, Director-General of Debt Management Office, myself and Sovereign Wealth Fund.”
https://thenationonlineng.net/okonjo-iweala-could-speak-more-circumspectly/amp/

Okonjo Iweala is from Anioma and was being accused of running an Igbo agenda. She had the opportunity to play the ambiguity game by denying Ndiigbo and referring to us as "they", which was exactly what Nigerians going after her ethnicity wanted her to do.
But the Amazon came through for us. Stood firm on her Igbo identity and defended Ndiigbo strongly. This is what is called ethnic pride. These are people we should be embracing. You don't embrace a people/person that embarasses and denounces relationship with you in public and even exhibit toxic hate towards you. That's madness. Igbos saying Ikwerres or Amaechi are Igbo need psychiatrist examination. They are not mentally okay.

Notice her (Okonji) use of "we". She never said "they".
Why? Because her Enuani and in particular Ogwashi uku people have always been proudly Igbos.
If for any reason we want to run an Igbo presidency from outside SE. It must be from Igbo groups such as Enu ani who have shown loyalty to the Igbo tag, who have not played politics with the Igbo tag, who have shown us support, solidarity, and harbour no hate or resentment towards us, we must learn to reward loyalty and show strong antagonism towards those that seek to embarrass, disgrace and demean us, if we want to grow, those whose Igbo tag is subject to political expediency must never benefit politically or otherwise from Igbo Union.

You disrespect such groups like Enuani , Oyigbo, Egbema, who have stayed true to their Igbo identity, when you let the Bini people of Ikwerre reap where they not only didn't sow, but where they scattered and urinated on.
That's not how you build a strong ethnic unity. That's stupidity and chaos.

Okonjo Iweala is from Anioma . From the Royal house of Ogwashi uku who trace their origin to great Nri kingdom.

Let's contrast her rebuttal when she was accused of running Igbo agenda by Nigerians and was put on spotlight to deny Igbo, with Amaechi and his Bini Ikwerre people response to same.
Because it's beginning to look like Igbos lack the basic abilities to discern manipulation by enemies posing as brothers when they see one.
Now mind you, I'm not oblivious to the fact that the OP could be an impostor from the "shadowy group",but the truth is that he represents fully the Ikwerre and Amaechi stance.

Notice how Amaechi first of all tried to talk down on Igbo chances in 2023, trying to remind APC hierarchy that Ndiigbo didn't vote for Buhari in mass, hence not deserving of the slot. This is the same argument Yorubas are offering. Do you now see why it's easy for some Igbos to mistake Ikwerre opinions and people here as Yorubas? Igbos are yet to understand that there is no difference between Ikwerres and Yorubas as far as Igbophobia is concerned. Ikwerres are worst because they wear an Igbo veneer in form of Igbo names, so many Igbos are oblivious of the fact that they pose same risk to us and harbour even more bitterness and hate than any Yoruba could muster towards us.

Back to Amaechi. Having advocated the argument that Igbos don't deserve presidency in 2023, he and his people are now trying to claim that Amaechi represents Igbo presidency, while still maintaining that they are not Igbos. They are also trying to sell the narrative that Igbos are political liability, and are anti APC , never mind that Rivers is not an APC state.

If Ndiigbo do not stand still and maintain that Ikwerre are Confused Bini people with just 3.5LGA to offer, if we dare accept these people as Igbos, we would have committed a political suicide.

“I think what is important, which I have said to the Igbos severally is that they need to be part of national politics. If they are not part of National Politics they cannot be President.

“National Politics means that an Ikwerre man must have his interest covered by the Igbos If they want to be President. The Yoruba man must have the Igbos cover their interests, the Hausa, Fulani people must also be confident that their interests are covered by the Igbos.

“I support Igbo Presidency. I believe that it’s the Igbo turn to produce the next President of Nigeria because they have not been there before. The country will be unfair to the Igbos if they say it’s not their turn. But it can’t be your turn and you don’t want to fight for it. You want us to wake you up from sleep and say come and take, it is your turn? It doesn’t work like that and it will not work that way. So, Peter Obi should close his mouth. He lost an election which I won and that’s why President Buhari, not Atiku will be sworn-in tomorrow as President,” he explained.
Oho! Guyman finally told you that Ikwerre bu Ikwerre while Igbo bu Igbo. If Ikwerre bu Igbo, then Igbo presidency will not need to have to first cover Ikwerre interests, because Igbo interests should be Ikwerre interests, just as Igbo interests are Ngwa interests because Ngwa is truly Igbo, owu ya ko ona owughi ya? grin

I hope this would have reseted the brains of Igbos still yapping the Ikwerre is Igbo nonsense and the Amaechi said he is Igbo trash.

Let's examine Amaechi rebuttal to Peter Obi after Obi rightly told him that he isn't Igbo and not in position to speak on Igbo presidency as well as reminded him of his political uselessness in not being able to secure 50% of votes in Rivers state for APC.

Amaechi said that for the Igbos to get the Presidency in 2023, they must be part of “National Politics”.

According to Amaechi, “Peter Obi said I’m not an Igbo man and that I don’t have the locus to discuss whether Igbo Presidency will be or not in 2023. That comment is a very sad and cheap one from him.
Okay Amaechi had the opportunity to establish his Igbo identity above, but guess what? He cunningly evaded the question, because he is on a deception mission.

But the truth is that Peter Obi too does not have the locus to speak about Igbo Presidency because he and his party couldn’t win the presidential election.

“Aside from that, it’s most unfortunate that Peter Obi, a man I defeated to become the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum(NGF), when we were both governors, can wake up today to say I am not relevant in the polity to talk about national issues when journalists ask me questions about it.

The PDP in my state got 95 per cent. They (APC) didn’t even get 25 per cent in Rivers State. So he is not competent to speak on the Presidency in 2023.”

I don’t know what they will do now for voting against the APC,” he said.

“For refusing to support the APC, they cannot come to the table to demand the presidency slot.

“For people like us in the APC, if the Igbo had come and voted Buhari, they would boldly tell Mr President and the National Chairman of the party that presidency should go the Southeast since the South-south; South-west and North-west have produced president. What argument would the Southeast come up with now to convince anybody that they deserve the slot for 2023 president?”

Not just the Ijaw, every part of the South that joined forces with the North to fight Biafra, should all be ashamed of themselves for acting cowardly and being shortsighted. Fulani moves to subdue and control the rest of the country had already become evident to every Southerner. Awolowo was already frustrated at how the North was dictating the affairs of the Western region. Now, when Ojukwu declared Biafra, others in the South should have closed ranks with him knowing that Biafra is fighting for the emancipation of all Southerners. Ojukwu even pledged to help the Yorubas reclaim Illorin and all their towns and villages up to Jebba and the River Niger. That was a very selfless offer! Yet those he was hoping would join him now turned around to team up with the same oppressors to fight Ojukwu. Even the Aburi Accord that would have granted them semi autonomy, protection and an opportunity to grow at their own pace was trashed yet they kept mute like obedient slaves.

Look at Nigeria today, all the things Ojukwu fought for has come back to haunt them. RUGA, herdsmen killings, Northern control of everything etc. and all they could do is to whine and complain. Despite everything that is happening today, some of them are still willing to close ranks with the North and fight against the interest of the South.

The chances of Yorubas ever getting Illorin and the surrounding areas back is almost non-existent.
I don't think Yorubas need Ilorin or are interested in getting it back.
Ilorin in the hands of the caliphate is very important connection to the caliphate for the Yoruba Muslims. It serves like a cord between them and their Fulani Muslim brothers.
You take Ilorin away from the caliphate, you severe that cord and create a rift between them and their Fulani Muslim brothers.

I think Ojukwu didn't think these things through.

Either way, the aim of this thread is to show that there is no pleasing Igbophobic entities and that they would do or say anything to get our support when they need it.
Ijaw youths were saying all these here, because they needed Igbo support for GEJ. They know the truth but choose the comforting lies. The apology tendered here was not a genuine one. It was an opportunist one.

This is same path Ikwerres and Amaechi are hoping to take.
We must know when these by default Igbophobic groups are being opportunists and not fall for their emotional gimmicks.

Amaechi and Ikwerre have maintained they are not Igbos before now, they have never been apologetic to their roles in the war, in fact they robbed salt to injury when Wike named an Edifice in Ikwerreland after Gowon, it's akin to an edifice being named after Hitler in a supposedly Israeli territory. Amaechi and Ikwerre people supported Wike with their consenting silence.
We must never forget!

Here is what Wiwa had to say on Ogoni position during the war. Wiwa was a minority in Ogoni because the most of Ogoni elders and elites were pro Biafra.
It took the guns of his former friend Abacha now pointing at him, to get him to say the truth.
Because obviously the post civil war narratives Wiwa pushed was that Igbos forced Biafra on his Ogoni people.

Forty-five years after the end of the Nigeria-Biafra civil war, the Ijaw youths in Rivers State have publicly denounced the role their parents played in the war.

They, however, pleaded for forgiveness, saying that if the level of awareness and information available today were in the country then, that the Ijaw would have supported the Biafran cause.

Speaking at an Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) submit held in Owerri, the Imo State capital, the president of Ijaw Youth Council, Comrade Udengs Eradiri, stated that the Ijaw erred by not supporting the Biafran cause, citing lack of awareness and misinformation.

“If we had the type of awareness and information technology we have today then, we would have stood firmly with Biafra to win the war, but we are working hard to resolve the issue,” he stated.

He expressed joy that notwithstanding their role in the civil war, “Ndigbo voted overwhelmingly for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2011 and since then the zone has been supporting his administration.”

According to him the Ijaw youth were pleased with the understanding and pledged that Niger Delta youths would support Ndigbo “when it is their turn to produce the next president of the country.”

He regretted, however, that the issue of injustice that led to the civil war “is still the same issue bedevilling the country today.”

Appealing to youth to work to return President Jonathan on March 28, he said the president has done well to uplift the lives of Nigerians, including the almajaris, who were neglected by leaders in the past.

Pointing at some of the things that the president had done in areas of local content, cabottage law, establishing of 12 new universities, rail system, fighting of Ebola virus, setting, among others, he said the nation had not had it so good in its history.

Speaking also at the summit, host president of Ohanaeze Youth Council, Mazi Okechukwu Isieguzo, said that the youths have resolved to vote for President Jonathan.

”We have decided to pitch our tenet with the re-election of President Jonathan. We are reaffirming that with our structures in the North, we will give the 25 per cent requirement to return the president to the seat, he said.

While calling on politicians who want to use the youth for their selfish ambition to desist from such act, he expressed disappointment in some ministers for not doing enough to support the President re-election bid and called on such ministers to resign.

Why are yorubas always like to divide other regions like Old Eastern region ? while as oduduewa people are slightly different people . Egba people are are slightly different . But Igbos are not interested in dividing yorubas . Why yorubas . Igbo spoken by Ikwere is alot more clearer than the dialect in Nsukka or Abakiliki -- we are all Igbos . Chibuike Amaechi had said repeatedly he is Igbo . Yorubas should leave Biafrans alone
Stop blaming Yorubas for what they are not responsible for.
Ikwerre are the ones pushing their Bini narratives, not Yorubas.

Amaechi has many times referred to Igbos as "they". He is Igbo when it's expedient and non Igbo when it's convenient.
You will be stupid to take such a person serious.
An Igbo accepting an Ikwerre as an Igbo is as stupid as a man accepting a "runs" girl as a life partner. You know she is not loyal yet you let your emotions and not your head down the thinking for you, and you surely lose out in the end.
Ikwerres are that "runs" girl with questionable loyalty ndiigbo must discard to move forward. Don't allow yourself to be emotionally blackmailed.

And peter odili all are core Igbo names

It is all about oil and sea . They forget that oil will be useless in 10 yrs and gas will be the main stay . SE has the highest gas reserve in Africa .

Ikwere is joining Biafra . All igbos scattered every where in Nigeria must come together under Biafra
Please! Ikwerre will join their Edo brothers not Biafra.

Are you not among those shouting Biafra or death.

Now you want a Biafran to be president of Nigeria.

Something is wrong with you and Nnamdi Kanu.
How is what Ndiigbo want and doesn't want any of your concerns?
Face your front Biko. Monitoring Bini spirits.

Politically Eastern Igbo, but culturally western Igbo.
I don't understand what you mean by culturally western Igbo.
Ogwaashi uku is part of Western Igbo yet are descendants of Nri in Eastern Igbo.
Can we as well claim that Ogwashiuku is culturally Eastern Igbo?

Please Igbo is Igbo. If you start going the way you are, you cause confusion because everyone is intertwined within the Igbo.

Na only Shame dey prevent Wike from joining APC.

At least he's better than some IPOB miscreants that have no shame. After Insulting APC calling it Fulani party, Muslim party, they are asking APC to give an Igbo the APC presidential ticket.

They abound here on NL. They know themselves.

They want Biafra, they also want to be president of Nigeria. Confusion galore.

Igboid is one of them. IPOB coordinator in Aba, he's tired of Biafra. he wants APC to give Igbo presidential ticket..
Lol!
This pained man from an ethnic group of confused Bini ancestors. Biafra and Igbo presidency in Nigeria are not mutually exclusive.
We have an Igbo senator in Italy and Igboland is not part of Italy .

Ndiigbo don't care about Wike, Amaechi or any Ikwerre man. Stay in your lane, and we stay in ours. Okwu agwu.

Did I say that Osadebey is not Olisadebe?

Western Ndigbo and parts of Anambra are they only Ndigbo that answer it.

For your info. Onitsha is part of Anioma, which is western Ndigbo.

Don't quote me again.
Onitsha is not Anioma. Anioma is a political union which Onitsha is not part of.
Onitsha is Eastern Igbo.
