Christistruth00:
W.U Bassey's was too senior to Ademulegun in the Army to be considered a serious threat besides was it not the same intrigues that ended Ademuleguns life later on? What happened was that W.U Bassey's promotional trainings were delayed until after Ironsi had emerged as head of the Army and Ojukwu had emerged as Governor of the Eastern Region he was senior to both of them . Bassey's problem was that he was considered to be an Eyo-Ita boy because he was from Calabar like him .Please do your own research and find out the truth for yourself.
Truth makes you wiser.

Wellington Bassey was a fine and loyal Officer who was well loved by Rank and File, the Northern Soldiers loved him so much they made sure he was untouched during all the killings in the North.

From Ziks "Origins of the Nigerian Civil War " pages 1&2
I am yet to verify your source, but...

Zik was Ojukwu rival and would have said anything to discredit Ojukwu emergence as Eastern region leader.
He was entitled to his own opinions and not facts.

Appointment of Ojukwu ahead of Igbo and non Igbo military officers cannot be tribalism, because the same pattern was repeated in the West where Fajuyi was appointed the regional governor.

If Wellington Bassey's career had not been sabotaged by Zik and his NCNC Ministers in order to produce Ironsi as head of Army he would have been head of the Army in Jan 1966 and the Coups and Civil War would not have happened. His promotional trainings were delayed to make sure Ironsi ended up as head of the Army and his Ministers didn't trust the Calabar man to be in charge of the Army .So i we complained that Gen Ironsi should have made W.Bassey's Governor of the Eastern Region and not Ojukwu who was by far his Junior.
What evidence do you have of NCNC and Zik stalling Bassey career other than your distortions ?

This was how you formed a shadowy group to stall proceedings in Midwest willink commission hearing while Igbos allowed the minorities have their way in the East by not trying to interfere.

You go around believing others are as evil as you can be.

These people are demonic.
Why must you always look for ways to paint Ndiigbo black? Why these hate? Right from Yoruba Ronu speech to today. Ndiigbo can't rest for Yorubas.

Why was Ojukwu made the Eastern region governor instead of Bassey?
It's same reason Fajuyi was made the Western region governor By Ironsi and not his senior Ogundipe.
It's about trust and crew.
Bassey was not the only one skipped to crown Ojukwu, other Igbos were too.
Politics › Re: Yoruba Marginalization: Elders Met Jonathan To Complain - SMH by Igboid: 12:33pm On May 19, 2020
As much as Ndiigbo hated APC, we were still supporting OUK in APC for senate presidency and Nkiruka Onyejocha(APC) for speaker, much to the anger of Yorubas here, who in their wicked minds believed SE should be totally marginalized from those posts. Because our region is a PDP zone. But no Igbo cried when Mulikat almost the only PDP senator in ACN controlled SW was chosen for speaker by PDP hierarchy.

If APC hierarchy chose Nkiruka Onyejocha for speaker, only for Igbo PDP members to liase with a rebel APC house member to scuttle Nkiru, with Igbos support just to spite Buhari and run around with Igbo marginalization agenda.

Then I don't think it would be unfair for Yorubas to ask Ndiigbo to go to PDP and ask them for our own posts, if we later come to Buhari crying about being left out of key posts.

Context matters. Words and actions lose meaning if not placed in proper context.

What Yorubas have done with this thread was to strip it of its context and thereafter, manipulate narratives in pure Yoruba fashion, to present Ndiigbo in bad light, to justify their own innate Igbophobia.
Politics › Re: Yoruba Marginalization: Elders Met Jonathan To Complain - SMH by Igboid: 12:23pm On May 19, 2020
Bottoline is that this thread have been tackled and dealt with.
With Yorubas exposed for who they are.

You were zoned speaker position by PDP , despite your region being mostly an ACN controlled zone.

Yoruba ACN members teamed up with PDP rebels and overturned Mulikat, GEJ anointed candidate, allowing Tambuwal to emerge, because Tinubu and Yoruba ACN were more interested in clipping GEJ wings to smoothen things for themselves and APC in the future.

They sacrificed Mulikat and supported Tambuwal.

Then years later, their elders rather than go to Tinubu and cry about lack of Yoruba presence in top six positions, they came to GEJ crying.

News came to NL, and some Igbos here told them to go to Tinubu and ACN and ask for their speaker position.
In this context, how did Ndiigbo do wrong? How did we support Yoruba marginalization because we told them the truth.
Why exactly are Yorubas trying to emotionally spin this and present Igbos/GEJ and not Tinubu and ACN Yorubas, as villians.

What sort of evil manipulation of narratives is this?

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan met with a delegation of the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), led by Major-General Adeyinka Adebayo (retd), in the State House, on Thursday, as the leaders complained about being left out in the top six posts in the country.[b]

Now, like I keep saying, Yorubas must come to understand that the era they distorted narratives out of their innate hateful hearts against Ndiigbo and go Scot free is gone. Social media is the worst thing that ever happened to the Lagos-Ibadan media of Igbo hate and lies.
This was me exposing his lying ass.

The elders visited GEJ because of Yoruba absence from top 6 positions.
See it above from the news.
But these people who thrive in falsehood and wiping up emotions and opinions against Ndiigbo were already trying to spin the narrative right before our eyes.

The thread is about people that went to Jonathan.

They went to Jonathan to complain about APPOINTMENTS under the Executive arm which is in his purview.

The Speaker is an elective role and not under Jonathan's control so stop mixing apples and oranges.

Jonathan as president is head of the executive and he did not see fit to appoint any Yoruba person to any worthwhile position that he had power to appoint.

Did Buhari appoint Saraki or Dogarahuh
See the propagandists coming to lie about a piece of news still fresh o!

But it was you lots that started the game of insults. You threw the first shot with your drunken fisherman stone . And you lots were relentless in using all sorts of derogatory names for a sitting president, why then were you ruffled with your alleged Arthur Eze reply to you lots? Or you can dish it out, but can't take it, right?

GEJ called Igbos the pillar of his government, so? He was speaking to an Igbo audience and it's only normal to try to win them over with sweet words, why are you people this petty and Igbo hating? GEJ said alot of things about Ndiigbo that he never fulfilled. Saying Ndiigbo were the pillars of government to an Igbo audience means nothing, except to a mind plaqued with innate Igbo hate, because pillars are not the only component of a house.
If Igbos were his pillars, then other groups were his foundation,, others his roof, others his lintel, paint, etc.
No part of the house is more important than the other, lest the building collapse. But you lots were being eaten inside out because of mere campaign word a politician used to address an Igbo audience. Tell me if you lots are okay.
I don't even know how you can compare GEJ pillar sentence to Buhar 5% discriminatory statement.
Available records shows that GEJ never showed preference to SE in distribution of key infrastructures in Nigeria during his era. SW even got more attention than SE.
This is the summation of all Yoruba anger against GEJ. These people can't stand or stomach anyone saying anything good about Ndiigbo.
GEJ called us his Pillar, and these dark hearted lots were in severe pains. They couldn't bear the man anymore, how dare him say something good about Ndiigbo.
Buhari called us 5percent, and there was Euphoria from Oshogbo to Shaku, to Ogbomosho, to Ikale. It was a national happiness. Bubu won a place in their hearts.
Such is the life of these people.

Tinubu worked and moved quickly to destroy SW PDP and you lots all backed him.
Tinubu was willing to sacrifice a high ranked and influential post as the speaker of the house, just to kill SW PDP.
Yet you all supported and clapped for him.

But somehow, you still want to blame GEJ and Ndiigbo for Yoruba not handling Top position in GEJ government.

You want to eat your cake and have it.

As much as Ndiigbo hates APC, we are already hoping that APC zone the Senate presidency to SE ( OUK or Rochas, yes we know they are first timers), and also that it House of representatives speaker be zoned to SE( Nkiruka Onyejeocha), Incase the Senate presidency didn't materialize .
We are PDP zone, but we will never work against the emergence of those Igbo reps, just so that we could spite Buhari and start shouting marginalization later on.

What Tinubu and SW ACN did to SW by denying the region it's right to speaker position as zoned by PDP is unpardonable, it's betrayal of the region, yet you lots don't want to see it that way, you chose to see what you want to see, and blame everyone else for your it.
Yorubas are funny lots. They do something and they rush to blame and accuse Ndiigbo for it, and even try to whip up sentiment against us.

So the question is: Why did Tinubu and SW house members conspire to humiliate PDP and GEJ chosen candidate Mulikat, just to spite GEJ and Spin the story of marginalization later on?
If Tinubu could convince Tambuwal to dump PDP for APC, what made it impossible to convince Mulikat to do same, after they must have helped her become the Speaker first and foremost, and then help her decamp to APC fold?

Please, list what we are losing if we leave Nigeriahuh

What ever you have we have it.

The only thing you guy have that we don't have is Gas.
There are many things we have and you don't have.

So what are we losing
You have lopsided FG presence in Lagos that have ensured that all major foreign investments coming into Nigeria stops at Lagos first and foremost.
You have airport monopoly and seaport monopoly to the most populous black country.

If Nigeria stops existing.
You lose all that, because all new countries would have their own sea ports and major airports.
Foreign countries would have to open embassies and consulates in the new countries.
The new countries will shut out companies that would not build factories and headquarters in the country but would want to continue using Lagos.

The net effects will be the shrinking of Lagos seaport traffic to the size of Benin republic or Togo and their likes. Lagos will become like Lome, or Porto Novice, as it will only serve SW.

SW will be stuck with massive debt as the second seaport you are borrowing massively from China to build in Lagos will be useless without the traffic that one Nigeria generates .
https://www.maritime-executive.com/article/china-finances-new-chinese-built-port-in-lagos-nigeria
Why else will you be taking a 630m dollars loan for a second seaport, if not because you bank on having access to the rest of Nigeria.
Would you be building a second seaport if Odua republic exists alongside Biafra, Arewa and Niger Delta?

Lagos economy will shrink astronomically and the real estate will nose dive post Nigeria disintegration
Jobs will be lost in SW as embassies and industries downsize to carter only for a small Odua country.

In contrast, embassies opening up in new countries in SE and SS will need workers.
Seaports and River ports down south will need workers.
Industries opening will need land and workers.
Real estate in Niger Delta and Biafra will grow in leaps and bounds, while those in SW will take a nose dive.
New international airports in the two countries down south will employ lots of direct and indirect workers.
The two countries will close their borders from smuggling coming from Lagos ports to grow their own ports, and they will hustle with SW for Northern market imports and exports.

Eko Atlantic City will be a goner.

Too many things to write.

You deceive no one. Nigeria division will greatly affect Yorubaland because you stand to gain alot from the current arrangement of things. You fool no one. Nigeria division will not just hurt SW, it will hurt you really really bad. Your elites and even commoners know you are better of under current lopsided Nigerian arrangement, which is why you see those seeking to divide the country as enemies trying to spoil your advantage, while you feign to not care about the country division, even when your actions betray your words.

Anyone with brain cells will know that Yorubas are economically tied to Nigeria and are bound to defend her unity. Not because they like Nigerians or Nigeria, but because Nigeria unity is very vital to their economic interests in Lagos .
Your attempts at claiming to not care about Nigeria unity or division is at best funny.

Same year, the capital of Southern Nigeria was moved from Calabar to Lagos. And same year z resources from SE and SS was used by British to dredge and expand Lagos port, as against Calabar port.

Lagos parasitism was instantaneous. It didn't waste time to start milking the entire Southern Nigeria.

No one is begging you for unity, I've never seen where Yorubas beg Nyamiris for unity, why should we beg 5% inconsequential people from a barren land, a land where the indigenes leave en Mass.

Rejected by Yorubas, Hausas, Niger deltans,.......what a tribe.

Five years after, what changes? Nothing, absolutely nothing.
Yorubas are not the one holding you, we only come online to catch cruise, we all know Igbo/Biafra has turned to a laughing stock, coming only to ease Covid boredom with your emotions is bae, we don't give a fvck about biafra.

You guys are the one begging South Southerners for unity, shameless people, SS are not loosers.
What is dealing with you guys today is karma, Azikiwe and Ironsi inactions at work, your past will always reflect in your future, Nigeria didn't start today, Azikiwe caused all these nonsense out of greediness.

And you if you think am the one holding your Biafra, come and collect it.
Kogi belongs to Arewa, and you know it. Kwara too.
You should worry more about them and less about Biafra.
The average Yoruba is full of evil thoughts at the mention of Biafra, you can't help yourself, yet you want us to believe you don't care? grin
Okay!

SS? No Igbo cares about SS, only about willing Igbos there, see, we are not as evil as some people who can't stay on their own. Amarabae is from SS yet Igbo nationalist.

The greed and power hunger of Awolowo led him to suicide. He took his own life. If you follow his path, it will lead to same. How can you be holding our Biafra? You are just a vassal, you have no freedom of your own, you can't give what you lack.

llakes4real:
it is not as easy as you think. What of the minorities and their land?

In short, Nigeria is a very complex problem.
Nothing complex about Nigeria.
The minorities in South will be fine.
Nigeria is not more complex than Yugoslavia or USSR or bigger. But they all broke.

Yorubas should stop scaremongering or trying to use threats of evil or harm to keep unwillingly partners in Nigeria, it will not work.

Embrace Odua republic if you have dignity. If you don't, let those who want out to leave while you enjoy what ever is remaining of Nigeria with Hausa-Fulanis. You already have a good template for a peaceful coexistence country with them in Ilorin. I believe you can do it on a bigger extent by fully uniting the rest of Yorubaland with Hausa-Fulani lands.

Each to their own.

BrownLondon:
Biafra is dead.

The only way you guys can resurrect it is by taking the due process.
The Kurdistan took the right step.
Catalonia did same.
UK recently left EU without crisis.

You can start by boycotting anything Nigeria, this thread was created 5 years ago

Five years after the rate at which you guys run to Lagos and other States is alarming, were we expecting you guys to leave.
Same with this Nairaland, many threatened to leave today NL still stand gigigba, I even hear a guy create a moniker every five minutes just to cancel comments.

Wailing on NL can't give you Biafra.
It is not in your place to tell us how to get Biafra, not when you don't even know how to retrieve Ilorin from your masters. Vassals can't know anything about freedom fight, only free men do.

Save your unsolicited advice on her to get Biafra for your impending showdown with Arewa for Kogi and Kwara, that is if you ever grow balls and desire independence.

I only came here to debunk your lies which I already did. But you know what? I wouldn't even let you throw your childish tantrums in peace. I will deny you that too. cheesy

Stop getting obsessed over our plans to get Biafra, go draw your own plans and worry about them, stop begging for unity and when you get rejected, you turn hostile, that will not work, you scare no one. You have done your worst already but we are still here in your faces, we stood your worst, but you have not tasted our worst, don't forget that.
