Grayoso:Lol! Bloody unity beggars! Ndiigbo are in Lome, Conakry, Windhoek, just name it. Being in those places does not mean we want to share a country with the locals. Grow up. We want nothing to do with you. Man up and stop going crazy and evil at the mention of Biafra. You will be dead and rotten, but as far as an Igbo exists on this planet, Biafra will come. You can't defeat an ideology that forms the very core of a people, you will only grow bitter with resentment. We will be in SW, USA, China, Namibia, Togo, Japan, Germany, etc. And still have our Biafra. You need to grow up and go fight for Odua republic, if ever you think you have what it takes to stand on your own and still amount to something. |
Ogbono/Ogbolo is an Igbo word. Other ethnic groups have their own local names for Ogbono. I know Yorubas call it "Apon". "no/lo" means slimy in Igbo. And we know that Ogbono is a slimy soup. Ogbono = slimy when boiled. Ogbo = "boiled" ono = "slimy" |
Grayoso:Bla bla bla. Yen yen yen! Pained Vassals! We want nothing to do with you. Stop wasting your strength, reserve it for yourselves. |
omonnakoda:No victor No vanquished. You were a vassal to Hausa/Fulani during the war. Awolowo conceded that West was under Hausa/Fulani soldiers siege. You were vassals and have not earned the right to talk when free people are. The perfect example of a slave that sees the chains as neckless. Look at you all green with envy and anger because Ndiigbo will not serve your masters. |
omonnakoda:Lol! This one is in severe pains. Yes! Ndiigbo will never accept any arrangement that involves sharing a country with Youbas. You will never get any good behavior from us towards you, until we get Biafra or you stop wishing evil on our nation. if you have any iota of dignity, you should be happy to be free from us too, whats the point of wanting to stay hooked to a people who you resent and that resents you too? If you like rant up and down, if you like sound uncivilized, if you like sound good, Ndiigbo don't care, we want nothing to do with Yorubas. You don't have monopoly on evil thoughts or plans, as you are planning for us, we are planning for you. Go and drink water and sleep if its too much for you to bear. The evil you are plotting for Ndiigbo simply because we want no existence in same country with you, will befall and overwhelm you, if you don't stop and focus on yourselves. |
MetaPhysical:I doubt if read your article. Because your article was supporting and reinforcing my argument. Zik was not involved in the election of NYM. The election was between Ikoli and Akinsanya. Zik was backing Akinsanya, but other Yorubas supported Ikoli, Akinsanya lost and Zik felt that anti Ijebu sentiment in Yoruba land played a role. He left NYM with his own faction of NYM and United with NNDP to form NCNC. I Never Never claimed zik was the owner of NCNC or NYM. You made it up to continue your rant. I only disproved the insinuations that Yorubas founded NCNC alone. Zik and Ndiigbo were there from the beginning of formation of NCNC. Stop obfuscating issues. |
Mraphel:Which reliable source? The party Macaulay founded was NNDP not NCNC. NCNC is a union of Zik controlled faction of NYM and Macaulay NNDP. |
googi:NYM fractured after Ikoli from SS defeated Zik candidate, Akinsanya an Ijebu Yoruba man. Zik took his NYM controlled faction comprising of mainly Igbos and Ijebu Yoruba supporters and United with Herbert Macaulay NNDP to form NCNC. Ndiigbo can never let Biafra be. Any one who doesn't wish us Biafra actualization but rather constitute a resistance to us, whether subtly or conspicuously, can never be a friend to Ndiigbo. Biafra is the heart beat of Igbo nationalism. You can't claim to love Ndiigbo and hate Biafra. That's like cognitive dissonance. Ndiigbo would become friends with Yorubas once we are both independent nations. It will dissipate the built up animosities and anger, resentment and malice. Any Yoruba man seeking for good relationship between Yoruba and Igbo under Nigeria, is being delusional. It will not happen. Not now, not in a million years time. Ndiigbo can never happily share a country with Yorubas ever in this universe. The events of 1967-70 cannot be undone. We have reached a point of no return with each other. |
Mraphel:Here. I purposely used a Yoruba source.
|
Sunshineg5:Say what you know. Kwale and Okpai are oil producing. |
r=lexyking Ok, going with the election results you posted. its clear that GEJ got over 50% of the votes casted in the southwest with the exception of Osun state. So how how can you call a percentage of over 50% minimal? The point was that voters turn up in SW 2011 presidential election was poor, because the people really didn't identify with GEJ. The voters apathy was obvious. And my point is that SW contributed very minimal to GEJ emergence as the president contrary to the claim that you were major contributors. The voters turnout in SW was disgraceful. It's a well known fact that the Yorubas dont give total support to any candidate or party in any given election since 1999. even Buhari with a Yoruba vice couldn't get more than 70% of Yoruba votes in the last election. PDP HAD MORE VOTES FROM THE SOUTHWEST THAN SOUTHEAST IN THE LAST ELECTION this was despite the fact that they had no stake in PDP. So it was not out of spite or hatred for GEJ that made him not to get close to 100% of the Yoruba votes, it's just in our nature to be liberal and to understand that there is no such thing as 100% right or wrong hence our propensity to stay in the middle.I know that Yorubas usually split their votes when a Yoruba man is not a major presidential candidate. But that's not my point. My aim was to dispel the falsehood that GEJ emergence in 2011 had Yorubas as "major" contributors. It's important I dispel that falsehood because I have come across posts in the past where some Yoruba persons claim they "made" GEJ president only for him to turn around and marginalize them. Sure, Yorubas contributed to GEJ rise, but they were not major stakeholders or contributors to his emergence in 2011, at least not more than Ndiigbo. As for Zik betrayer of the Yorubas, you would need to have an Understanding of the history of NCNC,that is, the founding members, the mission and vision of the party,to truly understand how Zik hijacked the party and made it Igbo centric.I'm yet to understand the whole idea of Zik betraying SW. After the fall out of NYM elections where Zik supported Ijebu Yoruba candidate was defeated by alliance of other Yorubas and Ikoli. Zik left NYM and formed NCNC with Herbert Macaulay in 1944, by uniting his faction of NYM(made up Igbos and Ijebu Yorubas) and NDDP of Macaulay. Macaulay as an elder statesman became the New party president with Zik as the secretary. NCNC was accepted as a national party by all, as far as Macaulay a Yoruba man was the leader. But immediately Macaulay died and Zik succeeded him naturally as the party leader. Awolowo and other Yoruba nationalists were no longer happy with NCNC, they formed a tribal party AG, and then they all slowly diffused to AG, leaving Zik and NCNC with mainly Easterners and Midwesterns and few Ijebu Yoruba foundational members. Zik was actually betrayed in NCNC by the Yorubas who accused him of running an Igbo agenda for aspiring to become the premier of the western region. You contradicted yourself again my friend by accusing the Lagos-Ibadan press of engaging in propaganda while you're busy with a propaganda of your own. why don't you ask yourself why Azikiwe wanted to become the premier of the west, and while at it you might also want to justify your reasons for saying Awolowo engaged in tribal politics.Of course it was a propaganda. I am only here to burst your propaganda. Zik wanted to be the premier of the western region, the same way Nigerians in UK are contesting for elective positions there and winning. He lived in Lagos and his Party as of that time was the leading party of Southern Nigeria. Why shouldn't he contest for the premier of western region . Because factually speaking, Zik started tribal politics in Nigeria. first by turning a pan African political party which was founded and funded by the Yorubas at the initial stage to a Igbo centric party. now before you start with the rhetorics of NCNC being a Igbo party, it will intrest you to know that Zik was the only non Yoruba person among the founding members of the party. so if you don't know this fact then I'm not sure I need to go further in trying to explain how Zik screwed us over. But if you know this fact, indicate it and we can further convers on the issueThe father of tribalism in Nigeria politics was Awolowo. AG was s tribal Yoruba party, an extension of Egbe Omo Yoruba. Awo rode on tribalism to gather Yoruba politicians to AG. He was the father of tribalism in Nigeria. |
Mraphel:NCNC was founded in 1944 by the union of Zik faction of NYM and Herbert Macaulay NNDP. Herbert Macaulay became the Party president while Zik became the secretary. |
lexyking:I'd still like to see how Zik betrayed Yorubas. If anything, Awolowo used his tribal politics to make Yorubas stop Zik from becoming the premier of the region. As for 2011 elections, Yorubas contributions to GEJ win is so minimal that GEJ lost in Osun and like I mentioned before, election turn up for presidential election was so poor in SW. If we remove Lagos which is a multiethnic cosmopolitan state, SW on the whole gave 1,434,729 votes to GEJ. If we add Lagos to Yoruba just to be generous, even though we know it's a multiethnic state it will be 2,716,417 votes. In contrast, SE gave 4,985,246 votes for GEJ, times two of SW votes with Lagos and times 3 without Lagos. But the person I quoted is already claiming GEJ won with SW votes, when the numbers say otherwise. https://www.oecd.org/countries/nigeria/presidentialelectioninnigeria-16april2011.htm Yorubas must come to the realization that the days of Lagos-Ibadan media propaganda machine monopoly when you guys spinned falsehoods unchallenged are gone. The Internet is a great equalizer. This Igbo generation will not let you get away with distortions like our forerunners did, we are angry and eager to correct our fathers mistakes as far as allowing you the space to manipulate narratives is concerned, you will be well and thoroughly checkmated.
|
Mraphel:NCNC was a national party. Zik was there right from the beginning even when Herbert Macaulay was party leader. So I don't understand what you mean by party founded by Yorubas. The only party I know that was founded by Yorubas was AG, a truly tribal party. |
diplomat058:There was no derivation formula for states under Gowon. It was 0%. 13% we have today was a long battle fought by the minorities with Igbos always supporting (just because of the Igboids in the region) . It was OBJ that increased it to 13%. The political and traditional leaders of minorities in Biafra were fully with Ojukwu. They knew there was no Igbo domination of the region. I have document showing percentage composition of all projects performed by ENDC(Eastern Nigeria Development commission) between 1960 to 1966, wanted to open a thread on it, by was stopped by powers that be here. Things never looked better in Nigeria than in Biafra for the minorities then. I know that narratives there have changed today, because of the winner diffusion I spoke of. But it wasn't the same then. |
diplomat058:It would have happened. We saw it post civil war, where the minority pro Nigeria political leaders of Eastern minorities suddenly absorbed the pro Biafrans who were the majority before the war. People would always identify with winners. Zik did the best for the country and for NCNC members from Midwest and East. NNDP with her Yoruba members left Zik with no cards to play. They forced his hands. |
llakes4real Thank God you said today. As at 1970 it was fair game and it would have been stupid of them to allow their enemy access to anything when they had the power to prevent it. So anything about starvation and blockage is just pure emotional blackmail. At least we agree that you were not feeding the East and that the East were not asking you to feed us. Actually, most Yoruba people don't care about your Biafra, but the tactics employed by Igbo people (aka IPOB) is what we are reacting to. Many of us have family members in the SE, and the last thing we want to read in the news is that some hate filled persons terminated their life. Many of us don't want another war so we are proactively cautioning you now.Really? There are Yorubas in the East? Hallelujah someone, is our God not a great God. Thought your people said our region is abandoned and that none of you are here ![]() IPOB is an unarmed organization. Igbos are Christians we are not Muslims, we don't kill strangers in our land, we don't threaten to drown them in lagoon, we don't stop them from voting on election day with touts, we don't carry placards asking them to leave our land like some people do. All we ask of them is this : Don't oppose our Biafra movement, don't commit crimes. Do this and we are good. If truly the SE wants your Biafra why has your politicians not come out publicly to support it? And if they are uninterested because of their corruption, what stops you from registering a political party and push your agenda through it? This way you even stand the chance of claiming the whole of SS for yourselves, because their acceptance of this political party would mean they are very interested in your Biafra. With your new platform you hold whatever referendum you wish since you are certain the people are behind you. This is the point. You are not in position to tell us how to go about our Biafra agitations. We didn't solicit for your support. We don't need your advice, keep them where the sun don't shine. All we are asking is for you to stay off our agitation. Mind your own business. We don't want to share a country with you, deal with it. Malay federation didn't wait for Singapore parliamentary members to vote for secession. They simply constituted a quorum and legally ejected Singapore from the Malay federation. If you want to help us, ask not about what we are doing or not doing to get Biafra. Just help eject us legally from Nigeria by getting your law makers to act. If you can't do this, then stay out of our way and mind your own business. |
diplomat058:Balewa and NNA had no plans of backing down. If Zik didn't back down, the country would implode. Zik was no fool. The Midwest and East had no representive in the new government, West already had her full slot through NNDP and you expected Zik to do what? What would have happened? The West would slowly diffuse to NNDP and AG camp would slowly die off leaving NCNC in lurch. Zik accepting NNA alliance was nationalist, because it calmed nerves by letting the North retain their dominance, which they wouldn't have, if NNDP wasn't playing spoilers for the South. |
diplomat058:Biafra was divided into provinces too, and the minorities had their own provinces. The Igbo domination was a myth which I was going to prove in a thread but was not allowed by powers that be in NL. The relevant minorities leaders knew that. Either way, the only way to be sure was a UN supervised referendum in the minorities area suggested By Ojukwu but was rejected by Gowon. |
Mraphel:Which party funded by Yorubas did Zik contest under? And how did Zik betray Yorubas? Is Zik now Akintola? Where do they teach you lots all these nonsense? Obasanjo became president in 1999 without Yoruba support. Shagari won no elections in the East. How could he have when Zik contested for the same election too? Abiola got 45% of the votes casted in SE, in an election an Igbo was a VP to a major contender in Tofa. Infact, Abiola won Anambra state. Yaradua was supported by everyone. How dare you take the credit for that, are you okay? GEJ got abysmal votes from SW in 2011. Most of you didn't turn out to vote that day. Your contribution to his rise to presidency in 2011 were at best minimal. Buhari is a failure as a president . We are happy to associate him Yorubas. Twice Buhari tried to lure our support by making us VP, in 2003( Okadigbo) and 2007( Ogbonnaya Onu). Twice we rejected him. He came to us before he came to you, but we don't associate with failure, so we rejected him twice. Don't forget that. Justice twice he used you as VP, 2011(Bakare) and 2015(Osibanjo), your tribalism packaged as sophisticated politics got the better of you, now the entire country is dead. Babangida was Jakande right hand man. Remember it was Jakande who ratted Awolowo to Babangida. To say Igbos supported him is nonsense. He was married to our Asaba sister, that's all. Abacha had Yoruba NADECO members in his pocket. Bribed many of them and they betrayed and gave Abiola up like a sheep to slaughter. Shehu Shagari never won an election in Igbo land. Don't know the Igbo support you speak of. NPP formed the central government with NPN, that's all. |
GreatChizzy:Anioma has the highest concentration of quality and world class human resources in the entire SS. There are no resources bigger than human resources in today world. Think of Jimi Ovia, Elumelu, Okonjo Iweala, Pat Utomi, Austin Avuru of Seplat , etc those are real heavy weights. Biafra will go a very long way with such quality of human resources, we can build a lot to export with such quality. Ndiigbo yearn for Anioma because of the quality of human resources there and the fact that they speak Igbo, which would make for a homogeneous country I'm also aware that Ukwuani have sizeable amount of crude oil and natural gas. Not as big as Itsekiri who are the number one in Delta, but sizeable enough to at least develop the area if well managed. The Seplat CEO Avuru Austin is from Abbi in Ukwuani area too. |
llakes4real:Stop this already. Biafra was not asking to be fed by Nigeria. We had money to buy our own food supplies. Nigeria blockaded the sea and airspace making it impossible for Biafra to bring in food. No one was ever begging Nigeria for food. Weaponization of starvation as a war strategy is a war crime today. We are not blaming anyone. We just want you Yorubas to stay off our backs. Stop convulsing at the sound of Biafra. We don't want to share a country with you, be contented with yourself and let us be. Every time Biafra comes up on NL or social media platforms, it's usually Yorubas dying on top of it. Your people committed the highest war crimes in Biafra, from Adekunle who shot at anything that moves in Ph, to Taiwo who masterminded the Asaba massacre, you just can't contain yourselves. You don't see Igbos caring about your Oduduwa republic. |
diplomat058:I don't know what you are on about. AG-UPGA in Western region decided to boycott elections and lost all her seats to Akintola controlled NNDP-NNA. But elections held in East and Midwest where NCNC cleared the polls. NNDP was a Yoruba party full of Yoruba politicians many who were former AG members and so had already guaranteed Western region position in the government. Zik and NCNC were already cornered, he had to accept the election as it were or plunge the country into war, where the Yorubass already in NNA would easily team up with North and squash the insurrection. Infact, Zik in his press release, noted that he had to break his stand and form a government with NNA or risk going to war, and that seeing as all military facilities were in the North , he wouldn't have stood a chance. If NCNC refused to form coalition with NNA, NDDP members who were actually former AG members from West, would get all ministerial posts for South, leaving Midwest and East hung and dry. I would want to believe that the betrayal I see here is the fact that while NCNC and AG were challenging the falsified census that gave North exaggerated numbers in terms of population. NNDP cared not. |
diplomat058:It was conducted by British nationals in Nigeria. Either way, the point is that Awolowo and Gowon contrary to what you claim, knew that the minorities were on the majority Pro Biafra. So at no point was Awolowo under the impression that he was fighting to save Ndiigbo or minorities from the Ojukwu like you claimed. |
diplomat058:"The unprecedented mingling of all groups and settling of many minority people in the Ibo heartland during the course of the war was simply taken for granted. Nonetheless, the Biafran regime was unreservedly committed to plebiscites in any disputed areas within Biafra, or on borders, so that people involved could determine their allegiance. It was proposed that these plebiscites be conducted under international( UN or O.A.U)supervision, and with adequate safeguard against punitive retaliation The federal government rejected the plebiscite proposal, obviously because it implied the recognition of Biafra and the substitution of a democratic vote for force of arms. Had the plebiscite been held, a ceasefire would have had to be declared, neutral observers would have been on scene, and the secession would have been revealed as a people's movement". The New York Review of Books, Volume 14, Number 8. April 23,1970. "In an authoritative and detailed memorandum on the background, cause and consequences of the Nigerian civil war issued in November 1968 by more than sixty British subjects, including Sir Robert Stapleton, the last British governor of the Eastern region( 1959-60), it was concluded that of the 37 percent of the population which they estimated that minority group represented in Biafra, only 10% would favour continued association with the federal government". The. New York review of Books, Volume 14,Number 8. April 23, 19701 Ojukwu, Efiong, Gowon and Awolowo all knew what the outcome of a referendum in Eastern region minorities areas would have been, which was why Ojukwu and Effiong was calling for it, while Awolowo and Gowon refused to accept it, but chose to continue with the propaganda of Igbos holding minorities to ransom. Yes! One-third of minorities would have voted against Biafra, but 2/3 would have voted for Biafra which would have disgraced Awolowo and Gowon. Even the minorities who were campaigning for one Nigeria then, knew they were not the majority in their zone. Saro admitted that more Ogoni leaders were for Biafra than were for Nigeria, and that he faced lots of opposition at Ogoni for siding with Nigeria. |
LukasPodolski:https://www.nairaland.com/2516282/before-forget This is the greatest heist in history of Africa. It's the foundation of modern Yoruba wealth. Those who put Awolowo picture in the money heist movie did their homework well. Dude was a lynchpin. I remember his legendary square off with Akintola over sole distributorship rights of Coca Cola in Western region. Many didn't know, but the rivalry between Awo and Akintola had economic greed undertones. Both of them had their wives fighting over Coca Cola money. ![]() |
diplomat058:I never said Awo went into coalition with the NPC. "Who" in my sentence was referring to Akintola. After Awolowo playing the tribal card against Zik in the western region, you can not fault Zik for not being so enamored with Awowolo. Moreover, it's on record that Awo sent double delegation to Zik and Saraduna same time. While Zik was in Onitsha negotiating a possible alliance with Awo and AG, news filtered through That AG had another delegation in North negotiating for alliance with NPC. Zik and Saraduna were pissed off with Awo for such treachery and decided to form alliance with each other. Awo tribalism killed Southern unity in Lagos. His sophisticated politics which Akintola learnt and that Tinubu is currently playing , killed any chance of AG-NCNC coalition. Zik is not a saint. But the buck of blame ends up in Awolowo table. You lots have a penchant for twisting history. The UPGA coalition decided to boycott elections. When election boycott didn't work and Akintola NNDP had cleared the votes, Zik was left with little options than to form a government with them. Let's not forget that the UPGA alliance which was a southern resistance to Fulani dominance failed because of the Yoruba party of NNDP led by FFK father who joined ranks with NPC. Talk about betrayal. Well, your sophisticated politics like it did when NNDP(Yoruba party) make the effort of UPGA coalition useless, have once again betrayed the the South. And like Zik did, Ndiigbo would again be left with no option but to let the North have it all again. This is what Yorubas call sophisticated politics. Retrogression. |
LukasPodolski:Maybe because Awowolo masterminded the highest money heist in African history |
diplomat058 You are being evasive.Still beating around the bush. Did Ironsi dissolve the regions? No! Everything else is your subjective interpretations which you are entitled to. But let's not deviate from the meat of the argument, which is that the FG headed by Awolowo and Gowon were the ones who dissolved the regions and not Ironsi. Ironsi watered the ground, Ironsi buttered the bread, Ironsi sugared the tea, all those are conjectures. Truth is that Ironsi left the four regions intact. It wasn't he who dissolved them. Gowon with Awolowo consent did. The regions didn't survive Gowon and Awo touch, secession clause wouldn't have too. The immediate cause of the war was Gowon and Nigeria failure to keep to Aburi agreement. Awo vehemently fought for the inclusion of a secession clause which Zik and Bello rejected. I believe he was not opposed to secession during the civil war, as he even threatened Gowon that Yorubas would leave too. The major position of the Federal council, which Awo was part of, was that the secession was being foisted on the Igbo people and the oil rich Eastern minorities by Ojukwu, for whatever reasons. So, technically, you can not even indict Awo on the suppression of secession during the war.He was promoting starvation policy to help Nigeria win the war and keep Biafra. But somehow, you believe and want us to believe he wasn't against secession of Biafra, he just enjoys starving Biafrans, incredible. Ojukwu and Effiong were open to plebiscite/referendum in Biafra supervised by UN and OAU to squash the Awolowo propaganda of Ojukwu and Ndiigbo forcing minorities into Biafra. There is a British intelligence report to that effect that showed that the minorities on the majority would have supported Biafra. Awolowo and Gowon had access to that intelligence report. So it's a blatant lie that Awolowo was under the impression that Ojukwu was holding Biafrans under hostage. Look for better lie to spread. This one is dead. After all, many Eastern Minority Soldiers also fought on the federal side and this gave credence to the federal narrative that the Eastern Consensus was a well packaged hoaxIt gave no credence. There were Igbos in Nigeria army too, Ike Nwachukwu was one of them. Banjo led Biafra march to Ore, so are Yorubas now Biafrans too? See the report : |
LukasPodolski:https://allafrica.com/stories/200504220226.html |
diplomat058:Lol! You have to rope Zik into your internal crisis in the Western region? Zik is the one who made greed not to allow Awolowo and Akintola unite their ranks? You find a way to bring your hate to the Igbo man and then turn around and accuse us of hate. Zik had no hand in the western region crisis. It was Akintola who went and renacted Afonja part 2 in desperate need to seize power from Awolowo, who went for an Alliance with NPC. But you have to bring Zik into it, and not hold your sophisticated politicians accountable. Zik was the one who pleaded for Awolowo not to be jailed in Northern prison where they would have killed him. Despite Awolowo bad deeds against Zik in the west, Zik intervened and pleaded on Saraduna and co to have Awo transfered to East (Calabar) for his safety. But to the Yoruba man, Zik was the cause of his woes. Again you blame GEJ for Yoruba not having any post in 2011, when again it was your son Tinubu playing your sophisticated politics, who schemed out Mulikat from the house of representatives speaker position GEJ and PDP endorsed her for, when Tinubu and SW ACN all backed break away from PDP Tambuwal for the post, just to mock GEJ and sell the agenda of GEJ marginalizing SW in 2015 in preparation for Buhari becoming a saint and his coronation that following suit? You deceive no one with your veneer of "detribalized" as we all know no such thing exists. We all look out for the interest of our own groups. |
