Good topic. The way you lots use THE NORTH and THE SOUTH here, onlookers might start thinking you are referring to Northern Nigeria and to Southern Nigeria. Not knowing you are speaking of Northern and Southern Igbo.

As for the topic, I will be back later with my own contribution.

Name the emir of a town in Osun state . That is what I meant by "enclave"

Kwara and Ilorin are not the same thing.

The people of Ilorin are quite comfortable in the North and will stay there. They belong there.

I am not aware that I was giving an " excuse" for anything. I merely stated historical facts

Who is compensating whom and WHY?
I heard they have Balogun of Ilorin too for the Yoruba of Ilorin. If Nigeria is a true democratic state, and not a failed entity, the Yoruba majority in Ilorin can sign a petition for the Kwara state government to carry out a referendum to determine which geopolitical zone the people of Yoruba speaking part of Kwara want to belong.
If this happens, the vote of the Yorubas would nullify those of Gambaris and Kwara would be ceded to SW, irrespective of what the Emir of Ilorin and his Gambari follower think.

Once in SW, the Yoruba majority in Kwara would slowly strip the Emir of his powers and magnify those of the Balogun. Case closed.

But we all know Nigeria is not a democratic country, but rather a failed British colonial experiment, so few could determine the fate of many.

The Sarakis migrated a long time ago from Ogun to Kwara. Research very well. Saraki's lineage does not belong to Kwara.
Sarakis migrated from Mali. They are Fulanis with long term traditions of marrying Yoruba women, hence their apparent Yorubanized nature, its a camouflage.

Northern Nigeria was carved out by the British over 100 years ago and administered as such
Modern Kwara always was part of the Northern Region before 1914 amalgamation and until independence and then in 1967 when states were created it remained part of the "north"
Gowon created 6 states out of Northern Nigeria one of which was West Central State with Ilorin as capital, that was renamed Kwara . As more states were created Kwara has progressively reduced in size.

The Northern region had joint assets just like the other regions e.g In the Western region it was Odua Investment. Those assets and other ties mean that Kwara is better placed as a Northern province.

Ilorin particularly is a Muslim enclave and for that reason cannot sit comfortably in any other place.
Many Osun towns are Muslim enclaves yet sit comfortably in SW.
Your excuse is not strong. What joint investments does Kwara have with the North that they can't get compensated for?
Politics › Re: How Did Kwara State Become Northern State by Igboid: 10:45am On May 15, 2020
Because Nigeria is a failed geographical entity.

Benue should have been in the South South with Cross River, Kogi East should have been in SE with Anambra and Enugu, Kwara and Kogi west should have been in SW.

Actually there is no successful leaderless people on the planet even the Jews asked God for a king. All men are created equal but some are leaders, even the twelve apostles have Peter. There is no successful land where all the people are equal in rank. It was very easy for the British to administer the north because the apparatus were already in place, they just had to put themselves at the top. It was actually the machine gun that pacified the northerners, that was why they all ran away when the British wanted to take a photograph with them later, the camera tripod resembled a machine gun tripod. Anyway failure was inevitable for any resistance in Nigeria because British firepower was immense and they would have defeated even a combined north and southern Nigerian army in days not even weeks. It was like a lion fighting a cat. Can you fight a canon with a Dane gun and cutlass. Even the coastal dwelling yorubas like the egbas and ijebus with more sophisticated guns would have been heavily defeated in hours.
The Igbo were not without leaders, you need to pick a book. I would suggest things fall apart, to acquaint yourself with the functionality of the Igbo society in precolonial days.
What we didn't have were tyrants called kings dictating for all. The few places we had Ezes, they were simply symbolic/religious ones.

Keep deceiving yourself, you need a national centralized army and therefore a king and a general to resist effectively. I'm Yoruba but can tell you that the most effective stubbornly military campaign against the British came from the north. You cannot have military weight without centralized leadership
Was there really a resistance to the British from the Caliphate? When you are used to having people rule over you, its always easier to accept colonialism which is just another group of rulers, than when your society is built on freedom equality of all, and republicanism, you always going refuse to go down without a fight.

Lol, grin Aba women's riot, I mean war all over again. I've read Nigerian history extensively for more than forty years and never came across any mention of well organized military effort against the British from ibos. In fact organized military campaigns against the British came from the north but they succumbed to the machine gun. The yorubas were too preoccupied with fighting themselves and did not field a United army so the town's like ijebus that confronted the British were defeated quickly. History is too important to be messed with. The problem is that ibos at the time lacked central leadership so there was no King and a United national army so any opposition to the British would have come from area boys and hotheads in the town's. You cannot call that a war.
Your teacher must be half baked if he didn't teach you about Aro-Anglo war that raged on for year and the Ekumeku resistance. There are no stronger resistance in the entire Nigeria than those two.

Of course there is. Your posts since this week has been big lessons in history. In trying to prove a point you published a truth that is not known to many in this generation because history was deliberately removed from our curriculum.

I have been suspicious about the deliberate one sided stories on this forum. How all manner of distorted history about Igbos are allowed to thrive to the orgasmic jubilation of others. There is a deliberate agenda to put Igbos under constant attack so that we will perpetually defend nonsense. Yesterday confirmed that suspicion.

There was a thread about wether Yorubas really love themselves. The first few comments revealed that it was a shameful and disheartening topic for them. It would have been so bloody because history abound to back up the claim. To my greatest surprise, the post was taken down immediately. I was like wow!! sad shocked

Yet, all manner of rubbish post against Igbos are allowed to reach up to a million pages. The first post in the politics section is "we say no to secession" yet IPOB and Kanu news is the live wire of the forum. grin We all know the aim. Subtle propaganda.

Still observing though ..............

This are latest stats here my bloda.
Yorubas admitted stats for university for jamb is 253,706 while ibo is 201,572 for both years that’s a difference of 52,134. That means 52,134 more yoruba got admitted into university. That’s more than some northern states combined. We are not ur mate in education when it come to pure numbers. More and more Yoruba go to school than ibo and this are not oral stats and none of the rubbish u have posted dispute that.
That stat is not for just university. Its for polytechnic as well and we know how much your people love poly.

“It was among the Ibos, formerly despised by the people of Calabar as source of slaves and as a backward people of the interior, now feared and disliked as energetic and educated, that the first political party formed.”

To understand the root cause of the resentment towards Ndiigbo from these minorities, Ndiigbo needs to read and understand this part of the report.
The minorities were raised by their parents to believe Ndiigbo were the inferiors because of the way the slave trade panned out in the region. The Ijaw coastal city states and Coastal Efiks aided by the Aro Igbos, were selling Igbo slaves off to the whitemen as middle men between Aro and the whites. These sparsely populated minorities also acquired Igbo slaves themselves when they needed to swell up their numbers.
This created the impression in them that Ndiigbo are an inferior race.
When the slave trade ended and colonial government came on board, power changed hands, as Igbo numerical advantage and coal discovery in Igbo hinterland at Enugu, placed the Igbo on top of the food chain in the East. This didn't go down well with these minorities, the Igbo slaves cannot be ruling them, it should be the other way round.
With this mentality, it was always going to be difficult for Igbos to do no harm.
Till today, many of these groups still harbour this complex. When Asari dokubo( An Ijawnized Igbo himself), was telling IPOB how Igbos used to be Ijaw slaves, it was this same mentality at play.

Just felt I should provide more insight to this issue.

Ndewonu.

- Calabar was never the capital of Eastern region.
Eastern region was created by Bernard Bourdillion on 1939 with capital at Enugu.

- Calabar was the capital of Southern Nigeria(SE plus SS) up until 1906 when Sir Egerton amalgamated Southern Nigeria with Lagos colony( SW) to form protectorate of Southern Nigeria. With the capital of Southern protectorate moved from Calabar to Lagos.
Many People don't know it, but before 1914 amalgamation of North and South. There was a 1906 amalgamation of SE/SS (Southern Nigeria) with Colony and protectorate of Lagos(SW) to form Southern Nigeria protectorate.

I think this thread is meaningless and should be scrapped. Nigerian educational system is a failure.
Ibibio has nothing to do with TIV and ibibio is not an ethnic group but part of an ethnic group or ethnic nation - CALABAR .
Ibibio,Oron,Efik,Annang are Calabarians .The name of their land is Calabar. The Calabarians Population size doesn't matter if they are the largest or smallest in Nigeria. All that is needed is true federalism so they can have autonomy and control of their resources ,economy and development to build an organized society and enjoy good quality of life.
This information will soon be updated on wikepedia , and a world press conference will be organized to establish this as official.
The Oro nation wants their own independent country free from Ibibio, Annang and Efik.
Are you aware of this?

There was an Oro person on this forum years back championing that cause.

Don't get me wrong, I believe Oron, Ibibio, Efik and Annang are one people.
But selfishness and parochialism have not allowed your people to unite and forge a common front.
Your work is cut out. I'd suggest rather than blaming outsiders, that you get to work on your areas of conflict and see how you can unite in the real world and not online.

Pazienza, you still haven't understood that you can't force your opinion on others. The Igbos who see Ikwerres as their brothers and Ijaws as their cousins do that with good reason. Their opinion need to be respected just as they respect yours. Don't force yours.
There isn't any opinion to force on others, other than some members of IPOB who are even starting to bow to to reason, many Igbos are beginning to take my current stance on Ikwerre and other groups in Rivers state, go to Pan Igbo thread on Nairaland and see the reality.

The Igbos who see Ijaws and Ikwerres as anything other than just mere neighbours are emotional poorly informed lots and they are a dying breed, who are still stuck on pre 1970 era and has refused to align with and work with the current reality on ground. We( the Igbo nationalists) will see to it that such becomes extinct in Igboland by running a very strong campaign on and offline against such stance. We are counting on your natural Igbophobic nature to win over our fellow Igbos who are still blind to your antics.

The Igbo nation will never get on its feet again if it continues to allow the likes of Ikwerre to continue exploiting her emotionally. We must start putting Igbo interests first and foremost ahead of those of our neighbors. Because none of these neighbours has ever put Igbo interests ahead of theirs.

As for the cousins and brother nonsense, that's thrash. Igbos in Anambra and Enugu North are also maritally/genetically interlinked with Igalas, yet Igala are not Igbo cousins or brothers. The Arochukwu and the Igbos around that part of Igboland are strongly tied to Efiks, yet Efiks are not Igbo cousins. Igbos in Ikwuano section of Abia state are linked to Ibibios /Annangs and have been intermarrying since eternity, same in Ngwa/Ibibio boundary and Ndoki/Ibibio border.

What ever useless relationship you think you share with Ndiigbo, virtually all our neighbors share it with us, We have not just been giving our daughters in marriage to Ikwerres, we have been doing same to our Igala, Ibibio( by the way, do you know that Peter Obi wife is an Ibibio?), Efik, Ogoni, Ijaw neighbours. We have always been a people blessed with high fertility rate and low infant mortality, our women has always been hardworking, beautiful and amiable, and therefore are/were coveted by all our neighbors smileyboth in past and in present. So get it clear. You are just neighbors, nothing more, and nothing less.

Take a look below at this Igala chief? See his chieftancy title? It's clearly Igbo. That's to tell you the extent of intermarriage and relationship between Ndiigbo and Igalas.

Move on. Your emotional blackmail game was never even on, we were just giving you long rope to repent, and after 50years, it's obvious you have mistaken our patience for stupidity, and your folly for wisdom.
