Maybe if she left her African hair natural and Afro like the South African miss Universe, she could have appeared more exotic to those white judges and that alone could have pushed her to second or third place finish. Yes I know Agbani won with fake wigs/weavon, but you get the feeling that Agbani was many levels ahead of this Nyekachi in beauty intelligence and elegance.

nextdoor84: Pazienza just calm down! This position/posture you are adopting makes no sense. When a child behaves like a child, the adults in the room should behave like adults. I have always look up to you as a potential leader of the Igboid race. Don't because of few individuals and turn your back on a project I know you have a sincere passion for. Your moniker says it all!
IGBOID!!! Except when the child in question is not a child, but a full grown adult. Ikwerres are not children , the war ended in 1970, a child born in 1970 would be 50years next year, so obviously, the Ikwerre are not by any shot kids. The Igbo are not going to tolerate the Ikwerre insolence forever, at a point we are bound to move on, and that's what is currently happening brother. We are moving on. We are looking inwards, we are no longer going to waste our energy on a people who hate us as much as everyone else. We are calling off the bluff of these Bini people. We are going to relate with them as non Igbos, we are going to start putting our own interests ahead of theirs. Ikwerre is not Igbo, they are not Igbo cousins, brother or whatever that means, they are just Ikwerre. Igbos have no cousins,brother_ or whatever that means, what we always had/have are neighbors, you are either Igbo or you are not Igbo, nothing like Igbo cousins/brothers. Whatever relationship they think we have with them, we share same with Ijaws of Rivers state, and there is nothing Ijaws of Rivers state have done to us that Ikwerres have not done or are not willing to do worst . Wike has been destroying Igbo businesses in Portharcourt since last year and has never failed to use whatever opportunity he gets to point at South East with filthy left fingers. |

HopeAtHand: If your cousin is contesting an election, normally you'd vote for him. Same as your uncle, your aunt, your neice, nephew, mother, grandma etc.
It is Established that over 40% of Ikwerres have their mums/grandmums from Igboland. So that gives an extensive number of relatives in Igboland. Coupled with similarity in language and culture. So Igbos voting Ikwerres is like Igbos voting Igbos.
So You will write your epistle from now till eternity and will continually sound like a dumbass. Cheap emotional blackmail. Last time I checked, the Okirika and Kalabari also have Igbo mothers. Patience Jonathan mother is from Afugiri Ohuhu Umuahia in Abia state, I know their compound, go there and ask around, she spent a big part of her childhood and adolescent age in those parts, she speaks an impeccable Igbo with correct Igbo accent. Many Kalabari and Okirika people are even descendants of Igbo slaves who were Ijawnized, many of them were Igbo slaves traders who settled in the area and Ijawnized. Let's not even talk about the Ibanis, they still have Igbo language as indigenous language there and their bond with Ndoki-Igbos remain strong. Ikwerre is not more related to Ndiigbo than those Ijaws in Rivers state, and you hate Ndiigbo as much as they do. So it's a bit manipulative of you to lay claim to non existent relationships with Ndiigbo, as if every part of Rivers state don't have the same relationship to Ndiigbo. Look, your game is up. The Igbo is tired of your games. You are not Igbo and you are not more related to the Igbo than Ijaws in Rivers state. Asari Dokubo for example is a Descendant of a certain Edi Abali, an Igbo man from Abam Abia state who migrated to Kalabari and Ijawnized, he is proud of this relationship with Ndiigbo. How dare Ikwerre person like you who claim to have migrated from Bini claim to be more related to Ndiigbo than Kalabaris and Okirikas? You obviously don't know your history, I'm not surprised, little wonder the Kalabari in their recent outburst described Ikwerre as a "Tribeless" people. |

When the FG is in total control of the revenue that is generated by the airport, it is its responsibility to build and maintain such. The last time I checked the Lagos, Kano, Abuja and, Kaduna Airports were built by the FG with the nation's money and not by any of these states or their peoples. So to expect the people of the East to build their own airport is asinine on the part of any person with such warped mindset. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. I wish people would just shut their anal-like orifice if they have nothing of substance to say. Don't forget that the FG have also built an international airport in Portharcourt for the South South which Akwa ibom is part of. Surely, they have to build Enugu for SE. |

Eastlink: The Ikwerre man is always cunning. I think it's high time you're put in your place. You should begin to fight your battles alone and leave other uplanders out of your stupidity. You guys are the most greedy set of people when it comes to politics. You're no different from the north.
Many of us have realized that the Ikwerre's are far more evil than the Ijaws who dominated old Rivers. Even doing worst than the accusations their fathers levelled against the south east during the abandon property saga. The creation of the state out of the eastern region truly exposed both the Ikwerre's and Kalabari's as the most greedy set of tribes in the Niger Delta. No other ethnic group matters. It's always about them.
I've come to understand that whenever Ikwerre's want to dominate Rivers politics they rally Igbo votes and when the Kalabari's want to outsmart the Ikwerre's they rally the riverine voting bloc. While the Kalabari's chant the Ijaw mantra as a rallying point to gather every tribe in the riverine, the Ikwerre's on the other hand use a kind of sentiments to win the upland votes. Yet they don't give credit to Ndigbo.
It is only when election approaches that the Ikwerre remembers the upland voting bloc. But when election is over, they'll begin to rant their 'Ikwerres are majority' trash. No other ethnic group counts in the upland. I think it's time our people receive sense and push these braggarts aside. Let them stand alone and let's see their emptiness for who they really are.
As a matter of fact without the votes of the Etche's, Onelga, Obigbo, Ekpeye, Ogoni's and other populous non indigenous Igbo population in P/H, the Ikwerre would have been beaten blue black by the riverine block.
I've also noticed that the Ikwerre are very smart in ethnic politics. Because they know the soft side of Ndigbo toward them, they play on this psychology by channelling the Igbo voting bloc to dominate Rivers politics.
The Ikwerre's just as the Ijaws of the past are same. Both are too greedy with power. Unlike the Ijaws whose land host a lot of oil wells, Ikwerre's on the other hand contribute a meagre percent of our oil revenue, yet they take a lion share of our political and economic commonwealth. I think it's time power shifts to Ogoniland or to the Ibani's. The Ikwerre's and the Kalabari's should go and sit down. Very apt. You have the Ikwerre and their games figured down to a T. Sadly many Igbos who can't grow over their emotions are still falling for the Ikwerre mind games. So pathetic to watch. Ndiigbo, kedu mgbe iberibe unu ga ezu? Melu unu onwe unu ebere. Tufiakwa! List of ethnic groups in Rivers state
1. Ikwerre 2. Ijaw (Kalabari,Okirika, Andoni, Ibani, Degema, Engenni, Ogbia, Epie/Atissa) 3. Ogoni (Eleme,Tai, Khana, Gokana) 4. Etche 5. Ekpeye 6. Ogba 7. Igbo (Egbema, Ndoki and Asa) 8. Ndoni
Since creation of Rivers state, number 1 ,2, and 8 have governed the state. The rest are yet to have a crack at the governorship position. The Ikwerre out of greed for power has held the entire state down for 13 straight years and counting now. In a state with 8 ethnic groups, the Ikwerre had the temerity to do 8 straight years in Amaechi and still going for another 8 straight years with Wike, with no regard for the other Eight ethnic nationalities in Rivers state. Just imagine the North going for another Eight years after Buhari, and you get the idea of exactly what Ikwerres are doing in Rivers state.

OfoIgbo: The Bayelsa governor made a huge error of judgement in a fight he couldn't possibly win.
Imagine a scenario where Anambra and Rivers are engaged in a subterranean oil wells fight. Imagine that the Rivers governor is from Kalabari. Imagine the Anambra governor travelling to PH to meet the Ikwerre traditional ruler, without reaching out to the Rivers state governor. Imagine the ANambra governor making the comment that he was just headed to Rivers state to go and identify with his IGBO brothers, and in the same act, totally ignored to pay a visit or acknowledge the sitting Kalabari governor of Rivers state?
The above scenario stinks of ethnic domination agenda.
For the Bayelsa governor to do what he did without considering the sensitive nature of such a move, totally reveals why he lost to APC in Bayelsa.
Does he think the Ikwerre governor cannot call on his Igbo people to see this as a move to sideline and humiliate them? The Igbos in Rivers state could so easily be convinced that this is an anti-Igbo move.
Wike has been civil to just limit this as an Ikwerre vs Kalabari. But if the Kalabari chiefs want to make it an Ijaw matter, Wike will be left with no choice, but to make this an Igbo matter also. This Bayelsa governor seems to be the big idiot in this matter, totally lacking in strategic thinking, and doing his best to destroy the peace in the SS, just the way he so woefully lost Bayelsa to APC.
The actions of Dickson has now made it much more difficult for a Kalabari man to replace Wike. The road is now clear for the Ogonis and the Okrikans e.t.c to take over from Wike Nwanne, stop this already. Ikwerre is not Igbo. Nowenuse: Niger republic is 40% Hausa. If it was 55% Hausa, they would have been dominating the country, however the Zarmas dominate the politics of the country.
Mind you, even groups who are not Hausa in Nigeria only speak Hausa as a 2nd language too.
I wouldn't say the Fulanis purposely adopted Hausa as the language of the caliphate. It happened naturally, same way the Mughal conquerors of India lost their languages to the language of the conquered majority. Same thinf in Persia. If the conquerors of a people meet a larger population of natives who are well organized, most times it is the conquerors who lose their language and become culturally absorbed.
Fulfude was and to a smaller extent is still the lingua franca in certain areas of Adamawa, Gombe, Taraba and Northern Cameroon where fulanis conquered minority groups (who were smaller in size and less organized unlike the Hausa). There are many Adamawa and to a lesser extent Gombe & Taraba people from different tribes who have adopted fulfude as their mother tongue and others who speak it as a 2nd language while Hausa as a 3rd language....
So you are wrong According to Wikipedia Hausa consists of 55% of Niger republic. There is no rule that the most populated group dominates a country. Fulani are a minority that rules the Hausas. It's more of organization and colonial forces at play. Oh, the Fulani purposely adopted Hausa as language of the caliphate. It was the easiest thing to do since the majority of the people were already Hausa speaking. It was easier than just starting to teach everyone Fulfude from scratch. A minority group conquering a more populated group for sake of administrative convenience always have to adopt the language of the dominant population on ground. Nope. Hausa and not Fulfude is still the lingua franca of Adamawa, Gombe and Taraba. The few minority groups especially those in Adamawa who has lost their mother tongue to Fulfude are mostly Islamic dominated tribes who are under the Fulani emirs, so there is a colonial influence at play more than you think. Christian dominated minority groups like Kilba, Marigi, etc retained their mother tongue. So you are wrong and not me. |

bigfrancis21: A good number of Isoko communities have Igbo ancestry but due to the prevalent Igbophobia, many of these communities are silent on their Igbo ancestry. Even thee founder of the Isokos, who is called Oputa/Opute, who was among the Eze Chima migratory group is said to have been Igbo speaking. I didn't come up with this. A Delta man, Okpevra, discussed this in his research work here:
https://www.academia.edu/39478223/IS_OZORO_AND_UZERE_CLANS_TRADITIONS_OF_ORIGIN_EDOID_OR_IGBOID
Download here: http://www.nsukkajournalofthehumanities.com/download.php?download_file=UNN-FAJH611.pdf
Some Isoko communities have been influenced by their Ndokwa neighbours as well, either through intermarriage or by living next to each other. Igbide in Isoko was founded by Igbos from Awka And Mgbidi. They have assimilated as Isokos today and because they don't speak or bear Igbo names, you don't see Igbos claiming them. This buttresses my point that if Igbo speaking but Bini claiming groups in SS change their names to Bini names and their language to Bini languages, Igbos will no longer be having this discussion of who is Igbo or who isn't with them. Meanwhile, spam bot got my pazienza moniker, can you help me? |

Nowenuse: Nice one, this is also the reason why I find the Ikwerre claim of being a distinct group who were influenced by the Igbos highly questionable.
As I wrote above, not until we can see a form of document or proof of an ancient Ikwerre language very different from Igbo, then it cannot be true.
Just for the records... In your first paragraph, Hausa language did not spread amongst all Northern minorities due to subjugation of the caliphate. How about Fulanis who were the conquerors who also lost and are still loosing their native Fulfude language to Hausa till date?
Kanuri used to be the lingua franca of the upper north-east cos they conquered the area but today it is Hausa and hausas did not conquer anywhere, rather fulanis did.
I'd say Hausa language spread by influence/trade and not really conquest or even colonialism. Although, the last 2 somehow promoted it.
because if we claim it was purely conquest or colonialism, how do we explain Hausa language being the lingua franca in Niger republic? All the non hausa tribes in Niger republic speak Hausa as a 2nd language, even up to the lightskinned Berbers in the north of the country close to Libya/Algeria.
The french who colonized Niger republic do not practice Indirect rule like the British and so couldn't have helped promote Hausa language there and neither did Fulani conquest affect Niger republic. This is common sense bro. Hausa consists 55% of Niger Republic population. It's only natural that it became the most popular indigenous lingual franca amongst the 6 or there about languages in the Niger. And mind you, groups who are not Hausa in Niger, only speak Hausa as a second language. The Fulani adopted Hausa as the lingual franca of their vast Northern caliphate, while Fulfulde was only a language the Fulani elites used amongst themselves. |

Ugwuoke347: Thanks again for putting it quite bluntly.
From my own side ( I choose to view things from the psychic side), Biafra comprising only peoples of Igbo stock serves a higher purpose that all the oil and naval powers in this world can not guarantee. The birth of a homogeneous Igboid Biafra shall lead to the birth of a brand new civilization arising from a rediscovery of all the lost and forgotten keys of Igbo culture and cosmology. The true Biafran State shall bring about an explosion of Cultural Renaissance for our people. Without such rediscovery of the truths of our Odinani, We cannot make any head way in technology and scientific movement. Check the Asians who became technology giants, they first went back to the roots of their culture to unearth the hidden connections that link them with the activities of the Elemental Guardians of Nature whom ignorant men call gods! They are no gods, they are the guardians of all the secrets of nature, and also the bestowers of same on those who humbly seek to investigate the workings of the natural laws! The true Biafran State shall pave way for the coming of a new generation of strong-minded Igboid peoples who would do mighty things in all sectors of public and private life. I have only said these things as they have already taken on form the psychic airwaves. It lies in our hands to bring them into manifestation in this world of actuality. We must be conscious of the fact that something higher is at stake here! A higher God-willed design! We must diligently do everything possible to get it right. Biafra owes Black Africa unending excellence in setting the Biafran model for good. Good one brother. Good one. |

I had discussed this before. For Niger delta to remain in Nigeria post Biafra secession, the North would have to give them some concessions, and one of those would be more regional control/autonomy. The SS would not be stupid to allow SW to be earning big from Lagos port, while blocking them from doing same by opening up their ports to Igbo business community and making their own money as well. They would have to be dense to agree to such deal, and I doubt they are. The North don't care so much about Biafra, all they want is Niger delta crude oil. If we drop non Igbo parts of Niger delta from our struggle, we would not only improve the solidarity within our ranks by removing unwilling partners, we would have decreased resistance from North. |

alphaNomega: Seriously I'm trying to envision how a landlocked Biafra 2.0 will fare economically. There are lots of options to succeed but they remain in the realm of dreams. Somalia has the longest coastline in Africa, yet is a failed state. And moreover, we can't grow Biafra by being import dependent . No nation grows by importation. Obviously, the current importation addiction of Igbo traders would have to die and be buried in Biafra. And replaced by manufacturing and value adding hub creation, that would generate exports and fetch Forex for Biafra. Yes, I know we would still need seaports to import raw materials for manufacturing. But I often get this vibe of emphasis on importation of finished products from Asia, from Igbo business men, when they stress too much on sea access for Biafra. The current importation of finished products from Asia template ran By Igbo traders in Alaba and other markets all over Nigeria is unsustainable on the long run.
