martha89:They didn't migrate to Esanland, their land was carved into Esan LGA. |
They are Igala people. |
oboy3:Correct! Eze is king in Igbo language. Igwe, Obi, Dein, Onye Ishi, etc are all titles the Eze goes by. |
reducto:Haha! Onye nwee ego, onwee nwanne. ![]() |
River Niger is definitely a blessing to Igboland. The only reason Igboland is balkanized today is because of the civil war loss.. But it will even out with time. The fracture lines that aided the Igbo balkanization were laid down by the British who in 1939 decided to cut Igboland into half, by annexing the Western Igbo land with Yorubas in the Western region. And then by the Nigerian government who driven by crude oil politics further fractured southern Igboland. Selfish political and traditional rulers from the Eastern( SE), Western( Anioma in Delta and Edo) and Southern( Ikwerre, Ogba, Ndoni, Ekpeye) had capitalized on those fractures to carve out mini dominions for themselves, by pitching the people against each other, making hard for unity. That's the issue, and not River Niger. The curse to us are the selfish political and traditional rulers( they are not worthy to be called leaders) who had failed us all, and became easy pawns in the hands of our enemies. |
engrchykae:Unique perspective. You must be a free thinker. |
DozieInc:Igbo speaking with Igbo as first language, none. Igbo speaking with Igbo as second language, maybe. If you find an Igbo first language speaking indigenous community in Kogi, please do holla me, by mentioning my moniker. |
DozieInc:They are Igala with Igbo influence. They are not Igbos. |
ever811:And when another takes over from you, your bitter rival. He will declare you corrupt and jail you on trumped up charges, and when you rush to the judiciary for help, the judiciary members will be harassed, humiliated and forced to fall in line by the New executive, and the rest of them judiciary members out of fear for their own safety, will fall in line with the executive. You will cry, but no one will hear your cries, with the judiciary caged and the populace turned into sycophants with no iota of reasoning ability, you will be judged guilty and then killed by a firing squad, alongside your family members, friends and well wishers who were protesting your innocence, no thanks to the stupid law you and the immediate past president( bettercreature) made. |

DozieInc:None. No Igbo community in Kogi that I'm aware of. Just some Igala communities that are bilingual in both Igbo and Igala. They are Igala by ethnicity. Only Benue has indigenous Igbo speaking groups. |
gebest:Igbankes speak Ika, an Igboid language intelligible with Igbo dialects. Their language is Igbo, of the Ika variety. So you Statement that Igbanke language is not Igbo at all, is totally false. |
DozieInc:No, the deputy governor is not Igbo. Those Kogi people do have Igbo sounding names. |
There are Igbos in SE,SS,NC |
kolaaderin:No group in Edo is known as Yoruba. Instead they speak Yoruba as a second language. |
bigfrancis21:I figured as much. |
Phyno and his natural exotic eyes! Yes,Phyno might look older than his age, but that's actually his real age. I know some guys who were his classmates in school. He is 30 plus or minus 1. |
How sure are you that it is Umudioka Awka and not Umudioka town in Dunukofia LGA? Did he specifically say Umudioka Awka. Or he just said Umudioka? |
I am from Isoko north of the Town of Oyede to be specific). Just saw this part of OP post. |
There are some Isoko speaking communities in Ukwuani area. Maybe OP is from one of those communities. But from my little encounter with Isokos in NL most of them seem to be Igbophobic. Even the Ukwuanis seem to be indifferent to the Igbo tag. If OP is an Isoko speaking Ukwuani person, then that might explain alot. |
FOURTH REPUBLIC (1999 till Date) Obasanjo despite from yoruba race. The yorubas play opposition to his govt Obasanjo lost all SW states in 1999 election to Falae. But won election in S.E in Landslide victory he won the whole 5 east states And some states in North and SS The igbos have never play opposition to the incubent govt in the history of nigeria until 2015 election The yorubas have being in opposition in nigeria since the 1st ,2nd ,3rd and partially in the fouth republic making it more than fifty years in the history of nigeria politics.. Was Obasanjo not a Yoruba man, whose alliance with the North, saw Ekwueme humiliated in the PDP primaries twice. Was Obasanjo not overwhelmingly voted by Yoruba PDP caucus during that primary? Olu falae was only mouthed as Yoruba candidate in 1999 because OBJ had already won the PDP primaries, with the help of Yoruba and Northern delegates and there was no threat against his coronation as the president of Nigeria. In 2003 when Obasanjo faced serious threat from Buhari, why did the Yorubas not support Buhari against OBJ? Was OBJ performance as a president that fantastic? Who is fooling who? |
THIRD REPUBLIC 1993(was abortive) In the Third republic MKO Abiola won the Election fair and square on the platform of SDP but the prominent igbos ojukwu, the late evans enwerem, and okwesilli nwodo, support IBB, SHONEKAN, and Abacha to sustain the annulment of the election.which Shonekan was given the head of interim national government This is quite funny too. If my memory serves me right, it was Yoruba Obas and leaders who were used by IBB and all betrayed him as IBB made the cash flow. It's a bit delusional from you blaming Ndiigbo for the political demise of Abiola that was stamped by Yoruba leaders and rulers. |
2ND REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA(1979-83) The Second Republic was the republican government of Nigeria between 1979 and 1983 governed by the second republican constitution. In the second republic the igbo dominated NPP again teamed up with(NPN) Northern party again to form the National government in the centre This is quite convenient. You skipped 1966- 78 to arrive at 1979. How cute.Time to refresh your brain. Between 1967-70, Yorubas were in alliance with the Hausa-Fulani North, so much that a certain Awolowo became the errand Boy of the Hausa-Fulani front man Gowon, in hope that the Hausa-Fulani would reciprocate back and one day play errand Boy for him, as VP and he the President. That didn't work out as planned, did it? The Hausa-Fulanis were never going to hand over to him( Awolowo), just few months after another Yoruba Northern frontman, OBJ relinquished power. After teaming up with Hausa-Fulanis to massacre millions of Biafrans, the vermin Awo came to Igbo land seeking for votes from those who survived his onslaught and he naively think picking an Igbo VP would cut it? You have a dead brain, if you ever thought the 1979 elections and coalitions would have turned out anyother way. Your treachery in 1967-70 came back to hurt you in 1979, just as the consequences of your treachery in 2015 is currently loading. Just wait for it. |
FIRST NIGERIA REPUBLIC(1963-66) The First Republic was the republican government of Nigeria between 1963 and 1966 governed by the first republican constitution. The country was split into three geopolitical regions— Western Region, Eastern Region and Northern Region—and its political parties took on the identities and ideologies of each region. The Northern People's Party (NPC) represented the interests of the predominantly Hausa/Fulani Northern Region], the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC)] (later renamed to "National Council of Nigerian Citizens" represented the predominantly Igbo Eastern Region, and the Action Group (AG) dominated the Yoruba Western Region. The NPC took control of the federal parliament, and formed a coalition government with the NCNC. Awo was playing a game of treachery that backfired on him. Leaving Zik no option but to form alliance with NPC. Blame the Yoruba treacherous nature for the turn of events in that era . |
Take Okpara for example, he was a respected Igbo leader across all boards. He was selfless. For all he spent in government, Okpara lived a decent man, he was never a rich man, go to his place in Afugiri Ohuhu Umuahia, he left no loot for his children, he depended only on his salary, his driving force was only how to place the Eastern region on high pedestal, can we say the same Of any of our current politicians? They are all selfish, only looking out for the interest of themselves and their immediate family. Azikiwe another respected Igbo leader. He built the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, modern day Igbo politician would rather build such in his immediate town or Local government. Ike Nwachukwu took ABSU to Uturu, Chimaroke took ESUT to his Agbani hometown, and was instrumental in the building of Nigerian law school in Agbani. Ngige was plotting on how to bring a campus of ANSU to his hometown Alor before he was removed. Sam Egwu built the New EBSU permanent site close to his Ezza ngbo home town. A prominent SE senator diverted the money meant for Enugu-PH express road to constituency project fund and used it to build inner lesser used roads in his Aninri/ Awgu area. The rest of us that are not from his area should go and die. This is the big issue. Every one only care about his area. No one looks after "our area", yet they expect to be "our leader" and not the leader of their respective mushroom units. If I leave my state and support you, knowing that you would divert any project meant for us to your own people, I can never take you as my leader, you can only become a leader of your own people. So, this is the issue. Until a leader who would put the welfare of the next Igbo man at same level as his , the welfare of the next village same as his, who will put the welfare of the next Igbo speaking town, clan, state, region, at same level as his, there will never be an Igbo leader. They will all remain leaders of their respective families, villages, towns, states, etc. |
Well, it's a complex issue. No one single answer to it. But we can all agree that it's deeply rooted on the clannish nature of an Igbo man. His first allegiance is to his immediate family, his extended family, village, town, clan, state, and then ethnic group. He doesn't believe anyone else can take care of his family, village, town, state, ethnic group, more than himself, his family members, his town members, his state members, his clan members, his ethnic group members, as the case may be. It breeds a sense of suspicion in him. Only a transparent, selfless, non parochial minded individual can assuage his suspicion, to enable him place the welfare of his family, village, town, clan, ethnic group, on the hands of person's not members of those units. Since the end of the civil war, Ndiigbo had struggled to produce a selfless, non parochial leader. Hence the reason it has become impossible to produce a pan Igbo leader. |
If those roads were built by other presidents before GEJ, they wouldn't be as bad as they currently are. So the point is that GEJ didn't build them, likewise those before him. But GEJ did bring equity and fairness to Nigerian polity, which allowed the Igbo business to grow. Something other Nigerian presidents never did. And let's not forget the AIIA Enugu. He gave us that too, as little as it might seem now, it would still be but a dream, without GEJ. What's more? GEJ didn't do much for his Ogbia people too, infact he did more for us than he did for Ogbia, so we cant accuse him of bias. He was just another Ironsi, trying naively so hard to please the insatiable North. If any one thinks that any amount of article will ever make Ndiigbo hate GEJ, that person is on a long thing, as the man will always be respected by Ndiigbo. He took us as his own, and we refused to have a hand in his political demise, treachery and betrayal are not the Igbo forte. |
So ndiigbo later fell for this Yoruba OP trap. Nawao! Ikegwulu. |
AjiereTuwo:Now I know that replying your posts is waste of time. |
AjiereTuwo:Land grabbing Ijaw man, I don't blame you, I blame naive Igbos playing neutral silly games with you to appear objective and knowledgeable. When you are done exhibiting your delusions, you can go tell this Oyigbo king that Ndoki are Ijaws or you can bring your madness to Ndoki people facebook page.
|
ChinenyeN:Hear hear! Same piece of crap! Even a broken radio sounds better. How exactly did you advance this thread? What revealing information have you shared here? Pleading to Ijawphilic side of of things? Spare me your grandiose, I won't have part in it. You speak of ignorance yet you are an epitome of ignorance, your lack of discernment is just too conspicuous. Ajere or whatsoever is not interested in facts, nothing that has to do with Rivers state has anything to do with facts, it's all about parochial interests, in that case, facts become what we say it is. And in this case, fact is that Ndoki is Igbo and was in no way Ijaw influenced, (instead Opobo and Bonny was Ndoki influenced as Igbo language became the lingua franca of those places)any more than they are Ogoni influenced, this is the sentiment of modern Ndoki youth and is in complete alignment with what the colonial masters recorded. |
One the other side, we have Igboid. A proud Igbo who seems to believe he/she is in a position to speak on the historical context of Ndoki, despite the fact that he/she can only make broad, glossed over statements about Ndoki people, culture and history (statements that reveal nothing because they can easily be applied to other Igbo-speaking groups). Oh the delusion of grandeur! ![]() Spare me the trash talk. You are Ngwa and not Ndoki. There is literally nothing you know about Ndoki that I don't, as outsiders we both are. Unlike you, I have Ndoki friends and I belong to an Ndoki forum, my rendition of Ndoki is dependent on first hand information from the people themselves, the Youths in particular and the current prevalent sentiments amongst them. You my friend on the other hand is not an Ndoki person, resides in far away North America, hardly in touch with Ndoki people, but depend on second hand information handed to you by authors and other sources. The least you can do is stay off Ndoki issues and let Ndoki themselves handle it, instead of coming here to make mockery of yourself trying to paint Ndoki as another thing than Igbo. Ndo. |
