timeman:
The achievements of Awo & SW at large are well documented, however SE region stumbled in mediocrity going by the standards of the first republic. Azikiwe was a misfit to this country, the death of herbert macqulay was so grave that zik had to step into a role much bigger than his political acumen. Zik's sagacity & activism was rather best served in the press. Talking about political calculations & dexterity he was a failure colossus. A celebrated tribalist under the guise of nationalist. He coveted SW so much so he would nuture his ambitions in SW than in the east. He performed absymally low as the premier of eastern region.
@Madam Excellency, you almost always flatter to deceive. Okpara was not the first premier but Zik was. Note also, that okpara was by far a better performer than Zik despite the former was his political student.
@MayorofLagos, kindly save yourself the stress for her intelligence is highly watered down. She would only bore you with her unsoundmindedly jargons.
Obey the truth!
Other than your Lagos - Ibadan express way falsehood derived self praises.

Its a well known and documented fact that the Eastern region was head and shoulders above Western region in all aspects of development between 1950- 1966.

Clark has always been a bitter senile man haunted by a rabid case of Igbophobia.

But I didn't know he was dumb too. If Clark is this ignorant and yet handled key positions in Nigeria's administration, it's safe to say that it's obvious why Nigeria turned out a failure she is today.

She was handled by dumb leaders.

Paul Anber's essay "Modernization and Political Disintegration: Nigeria and the Ibos" published in the journal of Modern African Studies vol. 5, No 2 (Sep, 1967) 163-179. See pp 171-172 for excerpt:
" '' A system of Universal primary education was introduced in Eastern Nigeria in 1953, though the mission schools had already prospered in the Region long before then. Despite the fact that there was a requirement for limited contributory fees, education continued to be very much in demand. Even at the time when universal primary education was first introduced, the percentage of the population over seven years of age who were literate was higher in the East than in any other Region: East, 10.6 per cent; West 9.5 percent; North, 0.9 percent. Since 1959, the East has had more teachers and pupils than any other area of the country, with the heaviest emphasis on primary education. Figures for elementary and secondary education indicate that the approximate ratio of teachers to population in 1963 was 1 to every 1,500 in the East, 1 to every 2,500 in th West, and 1 for every 10,000 in the north. Other statistical data reveal how rapidly the standard of living rose among Ibos. The East had the most extensive hospital facilities in the country by 1965, the largest regional production of electricity in the country by 1954, and the greatest number of vehicle registrations by 1963. The economic orientation of the Ibos was also reflected through membership of credit associations:in 1963 the East had 68,220 individual members, the west 5,776, and the north a mere 2,407." ''... His source was the Annual Abstract of Statistics ( Federal Office of Statistics, Lagos, 1965)

Separating Yoruba and anti Igbo falsehoods of non Igbos( the kind which Clark and other Igbo hating minorities represent) from facts. It couldn't have been better put than the above facts and figures. cool

dionma:
No sensible leader will allow foreign troops on his lands hence the liberators become the oppressor. If you want to help send arms and ammunitions. I know that Ojukwu will never allow the west army on the south east especially in uncertain times when there is war or the threat of war. My take is that the suggestion by Ojukwu will nevervhave workef.
But Yorubas allowed Gowon and Northern military complex to headquarter in Lagos and from their launch military attack on Biafra.

You opened up your ports for them to import weapons they would use to annihilate Biafrans.

When Ojukwu sought for Awo help, Awo stated that Yorubaland don't have the power to chase away the Northerners in your region.

So it's alright for Yorubas to harbour Northern military who stay in your land to plot our annihilation while you claim to be powerless against them and treacherously claim neutrality, but it's wrong for Biafrans to try to personally terminate those Northerners who you harboured in your lands?

You can't claim neutrality when you allow someone to stay in your house to shoot at me in my house. The only way you show neutrality is by chasing this my enemy away from your house and if you can't do that like Awo claimed, then you allow me in to come and Chase away the enemy myself.

If you refuse to chase away this enemy, and would go on to protect this enemy by refusing me entry into your house to chase away the enemy myself, then it's obvious you are in alliance with this enemy and your talk of neutrality is at best treacherous.

This letter had been exposed as an afonja forgery to justify their choice to remain in servitude of their Gambari masters.

Why Yorubas think that repeating this forged letter often and on will make it authentic is beyond me.

I guess they are yet to come to terms with the fact that they no longer hold media monopoly and that the 21st century Igbos are more media savvy than our predecessors as no iota of Yoruba lies will be left intact by us.

Here is an old topic on this letter:https://www.nairaland.com/547151/letter-lt.col-ojukwu-lt-col.banjo/2

Take a look at Dede1 rebuttals on that thread and how the shameless Yorubas retreated.

That they will dare to bring up this letter at this point in time again says says alot about how the average Yoruba mind is wired to feed off lies against Ndiigbo.

Politics › Re: Ipob Sit At Home Protest Fails Woefully In Imo State by Igboid: 2:14pm On Sep 24, 2016
It was in 2015 that Igbos in PDP took it as a challenge to forcefully keep Jonathan in power against the wish of other Nigerians which foresaw his loss. We all knew it was impossible for him to win a Northerner in 2015 because it was the turn of the North and they are majority.

The wise Igbo sayings that " Ife agwo muru aghali idi ogonogo" and " Ebe nwoke nuru nwanyi ka o muru nwa" , are all fulfilled in you. You truly are a representative of your maternal Ikwerre people, always lookin for ways to make a villain out of Ndiigbo. So you would blame Ndiigbo for GEJ loss in 2015? You are demonic and I pray God delivers Ndiigbo from Igbophobic Igbos like you.

I now understand why ancient kingmakers insisted that that a heir to the throne must not have maternal link outside the kingdom. It's to avoid handing people deadly like you emerging in the future of the kingdom, as no one knows what the maternal half of the genetic make up might cause people like you to do against the kingdom.

Now listen, GEJ main support base in 2011 was Ndiigbo and he still won, his main support base in 2015 was still Ndiigbo and he lost.
Ndiigbo has always been a constant in GEJ equation, if anyone wants to find out why he lost in 2015, its logical to look for people whose support he got in 2011 that he couldn't get in 2015 and nor those who supported him both in 2011 and 2015. You are an Ikwerre man indeed, God save Imo state from you.

Abagworo:
Your long epistle is senseless for calling me Ikwerre which I'm not and then going ahead to claim Igbos supported Ogbia man which is a fat lie. Jonathan emerged President because the rest of Nigeria felt a Niger Deltan deserve to be VP/President at that time and the Ijaw leaders rejected Odili on grounds of being Igbo. It was in 2015 that Igbos in PDP took it as a challenge to forcefully keep Jonathan in power against the wish of other Nigerians which foresaw his loss. We all knew it was impossible for him to win a Northerner in 2015 because it was the turn of the North and they are majority.
Yes! I accuse you of being Ikwerre, because half of you is Ikwerre, and often time, you let that Igbophobic Ikwerre part of you control you, as you come up with igbophobic comment.

Its hard knowing when the Igbo or the when the Ikwerre part of you will turn up, you are simply an avoidable risk.

I never for once said that Ndiigbo were responsible for the emergence of the Ogbia man as the VP, I made it clear that we hand no control over his emergence, but simply supported him, once he emerged next in line to Yaradua's throne.

The only senseless one here is you, gloating over lack of success of IPOB order, and then trying to villify Ndiigbo for Odili failures, shame on you.
Politics › Re: Ipob Sit At Home Protest Fails Woefully In Imo State by Igboid:
HopeAtHand:
You made some sense in your post but Odili being rejected for the VP position was much more than being an Ndoni man. If you knew how Odili governed Rivers State during his days as governor, you wouldn't recommend him for any position of trust. He did not perform excellently as governor and was clearly in the bad books of Obasanjo, the president and kingmaker.

As for Edwin Clark, people like him are everywhere in Nigeria, trying to defend their tribe and tribesmen. And even if Odili was the life patron of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Igbos would never support his emergence, as he will be considered to have used up the Igbo ticket as against a bonafide SE igbo.

Many Igboid groups love to bear the names of the ethnicities, love to flaunt their ethnicity, love being who they are. That is the reason why Odili did not complain to you or anyone. Abagworo just brought it up because he feels concerned personally. And yes, many Igboid groups consider being Igbo a liability, and with good reason. As an observer, id say with current Biafra agitations the Igbos have ensured that any consideration of them for the presidency of Nigeria will happen in another 30yrs and not sooner. You led yourself to the point you find yourself, you can only blame yourself for it.

The Igboids may be in the minority but i can assure you that if an opportunity arises for an Okechukwu, Ifeanyi or Kelechi to lead Nigeria, the one from SS is the favourable option. The one from SE will be looked at with so much suspicion.
Igbos never had any problem supporting an Ogbia man despite the fact that it was touted that he was using our slot, but we will now have problem supporting an Igboman from SS? Ndiigbo will never have any problem supporting a real Igbo man from Oshimili/ Aniocha, Egbema, Oyigbo, the current support Iweala enjoys from us is a proof.
But a timid useless Igbo denying Ikwerre or their fellow travelers, we would never support, we would let their Ijaw neighbors deal with them, like we allowed them deal with Odili. Yes, we can be that vindictive, we would even go on and support the Ijaws in such quest. cool

You really are not making anysense. Not at all.

How exactly did GEJ fair as a governor of Bayelsa state that had lesser population and just a little less allocation than Rivers state that?
GEJ didn't perform better than Odili. Odili was a victim
of Nigerian Igbo hatred. He tried so much to stay away from the Igbo tag, but the likes of Edwin Clark made sure the tag stuck on him, on such days, Ndiigbo won't be the ones reminding Igboids that they are Igbos, other Nigerians do the work for us. Another factor was that OBJ considered a relatively unknown GEJ, an easier puppet to control than Odili with bigger political clout and financial war chest.

Abagworo brought it up because as an Ikwerre, he is always poking for reasons to villify Ndiigbo, even for other people's fault.

Would Odili fortune have improved if he embraced his Igbo tag? We wouldn't know, but we know that his distancing himself from the Igbo tag backfired and killed his political ambitions.

Igbo tag is a liability for Ikwerres? Maybe or maybe not, but what is sure is that your political rating outside Rivers state has not risen ever since you started the Igbo denial , the little control you have in Rivers state was the one Ndiigbo through Zik and Ebitu Ukiwe gave you, if you think you are ever going to amount to anything in Nigeria without Igbo support, then you still have alot to learn.

Nigerians would prefer an Okechukwu from Ikwerre to one from SE? Lol! Nigerians would rather have a Kayode, Aminu, over any Okechukwu from anywhere, even your fellow SS would prefer a preye, Odion, Etuk, Oghenetega, etc over an Okechukwu from Ikwerre, in Nigeria it's a dog fight, all men for themselves, and you will ever be disadvantaged, not accepted by Igbos and not accepted as non Igbos by your neighbors, a real political bat, the real definition of liability.
No Nigerian political party will pick an Okechukwu from Ikwerre as its flag bearer, such action will be political suicide, as Ndiigbo will deny such Ikwerre candidate like we did Amaechi, and the other Political parties will capitalize on it, you simply don't have the numbers. If a Nigerian party wants an Okechukwu, they know where to get the Okechukwu that will pull a block vote for them, not the one that will struggle to deliver the votes from just 3.5 LGAs in Rivers state, seeing as there are still many Igbos in those 3.5 LGAs that will vote against such Ikwerre candidate.

Nigerians had chosen an Ekwueme from SE over one from Ikwerre in the past, and it was just 9 years after the war, so you are silly to think any Nigerian will leave their fellow kinsmen to support an Ikwerre, just to get one over the SE grin Politics is all about interests and numbers. The Ijaws represent the SS interest and you will ever play second fiddle to them there, and you have not the numbers, it makes no political sense anybody ditching the Ijaws for Ikwerres.

You would have to walk before you run.

Don't let your pan Igboist ideology make you to lose your identity....You are an Omanbala firstly. Ekesia na ama ebulu naa n'Obi.
I understand everything you said. But you don't unite a nation with such attitude.

Not even Zik who was from Onitsha had such attitude. He treated all parts of Igboland and Eastern region as equals, which they truly are, he was so knowledgeable that he knew all the Igbo speaking groups by names, culture and their unique problems.

He was willingly to set aside the Onitsha man in him to create a pan Igbo strong political unit.

Look at the men he worked with , Ebitu Ukiwe, Nzimiro, Okpara, Osadebey, Ibiam.

They were all from all parts of Igbo land outside Anambra area.

Imagine, Zik saw all parts of Igboland as home, he built the University of Nigeria at Nsukka instead of Anambra area, because he considered Nsukka home. Compare this attitute to those of our current political jobbers who would have sited such in their immediate town or neighbouring town, and you understand why Ndiigbo has struggled to reach our pre Biafran war heights.

Ojukwu was at home in Anambra, Enugu, Imo( Ahiara/ Owerre), Ebonyi, Rivers Igboland, Anioma( he worked with many western Igbos)
He was first a Biafran, then an Igbo, before being an Nnewi man. This is how it should be.

We have lost the spirit of "Anyi bu ofu". Only selfishness and divisions reign now, and we are all worst for it. Okpara, Zik, Akanu Ibiam and co must be turning in their graves.

For the whole to be 1, all parts must be recognized as important, even though they don't seem equal on inspection, yet the machine needs all to be working in full force to be 100% efficient.

Mao of China demonstrated this when he united the Chinese people, by choosing a lesser spoken dialect as the official Chinese language.

No supremacist can unite a nation. From Mao to Otto von Bismarck who united Germanic tribes to form modern Germany, they were all nationalists.

The idea of a superior Omambala culture that must be acknowledged by other Igbo speaking people, is a concept that cannot co exist with a unified Igbo nation. It only leads to balkanization of our people, making us easy pick off by our enemies.

So yes, I believe in Anambra uniqueness, but I don't believe in Omanbala supremacy. I believe that all Igbo speaking groups are unique and important.

We must give away the things that divide us,things that emphasize on our differences, and embrace things that Unite us all, things we share in common.

The options before us are two. Succeed as a whole or fail as units.

Itsekiri just like Urhobo share same similarities, We have the same culture , We are from the same route.. infact the only difference b/w Itsekiri and Urhobo is the language, Why the itsekiri language sounds more of yoruba the Urhobo language sound more of Edo. so how can you have same culture with Urhobo but u claim u don't have anything with itsekiri, Is that possible ?

Now back to your earlier claim.. No Urhobo clan has anything to do with igbo , The reason Y orogun people mix (3-6%) Igbo with our Urhobo was because of inter - marriages & boundary. No were in the History of the Urhobo nation have we heard of such stories,

Now lets take for example the Ofoni people of Bayelsa, Those people are Urhobo but there language is more Ijaw than Urhobo , but they are Urhobo and ijaw haven't lay claim that they originated from Ijo.

please travel out b4 laying claim to culture u know nothing about.
I said Ndiigbo has no relationship whatsoever with Itsekiri.

Anyway you slice and dice it. Urhobos had pre colonial interactions with Igbo speaking Abohs, and these interactions involved inter marriage, inter trade and co existence.

Urhobo man cannot deny this interactions and jump to claim relationship with an Ekoi man, under the banner of a nebulous term like Niger Delta.

This remains my point. You lots are the ones spinning this and allowing your innate Igbophobia blind your reasonings.

No.

Enugu Ezike people believed they migrated from ancient Bini, passed through Asaba- to Enugwu ukwu- to Aguleri, to Igala country and finally settled at their final location.

And that they picked up people along the way. So some Enugu Ezike people might be of Enugu Ukwu origin, but not majority of the community.

I often encounter individuals of the two Nigerian largest tribes who believe all Niger Deltans are Igbos. They don't even recognise that most of these tribes have NOTHING to do with Igbo!

The only Niger Delta group that has nothing to do with Ndiigbo is Itsekiri.

It's okay to say that all Niger Deltans are not Igbos, that I agree 100% with. But you start stretching it when you say that MOST of Niger Delta tribes has nothing to do with Ndiigbo.

Infact, the only thing that Unites all Niger Delta tribes culturally, excluding Itsekiri is Shared history with Igbo speaking neighbors.

Urhobo/ Isoko has some towns with Igbo ancestry and still share boundary and cultures with the Igbo speaking Ukwuani even unto today.

Some Esan towns were founded by Igbo speaking people, like wise some Esan people who were absorbed into Igbo speaking Anioma today. As we speak, Ekpon, an Esan town in Edo is losing her Edoid language in favour of an Igboid( Ika) one. And we all know of the Existence of Igbo( Ika) speaking Igbanke people right in Edo state, and the Edo origin stories of many Igbo towns today in Anioma, Anambra, Rivers, and even some Enugu towns.

Ogoni people share a long history with Ndoki Igbo, just as a significant section of Okrika people are said to have originated in Ndoki. Ndoki also has ancestral connection with the Ibani people in Bonny and Opobo as well as with Ibibios.

Ngwa Igbo and Ikwuano Igbos share alot with the Annang people, their interactions was pre colonial as neighbors with Inter marriage and trading as well as diffusion of cultures both ways, like the Ekpo society.

The Aro Igbo people were traversing the entire Ibibio- Efik-Ekoi area, breaking cultural barriers by development of unified cultural ideologies like the Ekpe cult system and the Nsibidi writing system, centuries before the white man created Nigeria and the Urhobo man became aware that there was ever a people called Ibibio- Efik-Ekoi people.
And these people remain neighbors to Aros and to Ehugbo Igbos and Ikwo Igbos even till today.

I can go on and on.

But I'm sure you already get the point.

Achara layout is separated from Idaw River layout by Agbani road.

It starts immediately after Kenneth road junction and stops at Obioma street junction.

Lived in Achara layout (Ozobu Street) back then during Uni days.
Ozobu is Idaw River layout.
People often make that mistake of calling those parts Achara layout.

Nobody hates u.. he never said we hate u.. All we re saying is that We Have nothing in Common with you.. Thats just his point .. pls show me where he said we hate you.

Stop it already. Why not say Urhobo don't like you. How hard will that be?

Why hide behind hazy term like SS?

Does the Ijaw and Itsekiri love themselves in Warri?

What exactly is wrong with you lots? Speak for your group, and don't try to project your Igbo hate on other neighboring non Igbo groups in SS that have always been in good terms with Ndiigbo by pretending you speak for them.
