You should ask yourself what exactly was your intent in this thread at the first place?

Read the thread title again and answer yourself !
Ask your dubious brother that opened this thread, what he smoked when he wrote the below:

"I often encounter individuals of the two Nigerian largest tribes who believe all Niger Deltans are Igbos. They don't even recognise that most of these tribes have NOTHING to do with Igbo!

He will not be allowed to be the one to tell us about our histories with groups in present SS. If he can't stick to talking about his Urhobo group only, but would rather rope Ndiigbo into his articles, including using terms like "Niger Delta" that has Igbo groups in it.

Then he should always expect harsh but fact filled rebuttals from Ndiigbo.

There is no pampering this people. Even if you kill yourself for them.

Those who love you will always love you.

How many times do you see these hatred towards the Igbo that emanate from Urhobo/Isoko/Ijaws towards the Igbo from the group's in Akwa Ibom and Cross River?
The answer is rarely.

The hate is ingrained in them. Trying to change it is waste of time better spent at planning on how to nullify their hatred and making sure they get consumed by it without harming you. cool

Couldn't you have made you article without roping Ndiigbo into it? Why is it hard for you people to atleast for the sake of your sanity hide your Igbo paranoia/ hate?

As long you can't make your articles without finding ways to rope Igbos into it and project us in bad light, be sure to have your thread pounced on and all necessary mis information contained there in corrected harshly with no care for your fragile feelings. Hatred will always begot hatred.

This is no 60's where a generation of Igbo knew not the importance of putting envious groups to sword and debunk any of their mis information to the public about Igbo.

Anyone that would want to put Ndiigbo in his silly write up in this generation must be putting it to praise the Igbo or encourage/ identity us. Anything else will attract
harsh rebuttals simply aimed at debunking mis representations of Ndiigbo. cool

Bro, many of these minority tribes do not actively try to associate with Igbo for reasons which you may have seen yourself on this thread. Most, but not all, Igbos have the deluded sense of grandeur and are quick to pounce and leech on smaller tribes especially when the tribes acknowledge any form of Igboid influence. The Igbide-Isoko case is exemplary.

Most of us have no resentment or bad blood towards Igbos other than the fact that they show their perceived "superiority" ONLY on smaller tribes. Once Yorubas and Hausas open their mouth, Igbos will hide under the canopy of Biafra and cry "they are marginalising us" when they do worse to smaller groups.

Yorubas and Hausas have posted on this thread and NONE has attracted attention as the Igbos have. That says alot...
Stop talking trash! Your resentment for Igbos is paranoia driven.

That's why you were quick to act like there are no Igbos in Niger Delta when you made the below statement.

You have always sang it in your mind that the burst out through your fingers. I'm maternally Igbide and trust me, the history that we have never had it the way your ecstacy realism suggest.

If I were you, I will play down that "Igbide ownership" mentality in public discourse or these people will have no other option than to sever ties if any with the Igbos.

It's appaling already
What heavenly feelings? Get over yourself. Isoko is a backward area for all intents and purposes, you don't in anyway have anything Ndiigbo don't have or in need of.

However,historical facts are historical facts.
Igbide is Isoko today, but the people migrated from Igboland. Stating that does not in any way mean that Ndiigbo are interested in incorporating a non Igbo speaking Igbide or entire Isoko people into Igboland or future Igbo nation.

Why exactly are you people this paranoid?

I often encounter individuals of the two Nigerian largest tribes who believe all Niger Deltans are Igbos. They don't even recognise that most of these tribes have NOTHING to do with Igbo!

The only Niger Delta group that has nothing to do with Ndiigbo is Itsekiri.

It's okay to say that all Niger Deltans are not Igbos, that I agree 100% with. But you start stretching it when you say that MOST of Niger Delta tribes has nothing to do with Ndiigbo.

Infact, the only thing that Unites all Niger Delta tribes culturally, excluding Itsekiri is Shared history with Igbo speaking neighbors.

Urhobo/ Isoko has some towns with Igbo ancestry and still share boundary and cultures with the Igbo speaking Ukwuani even unto today.

Some Esan towns were founded by Igbo speaking people, like wise some Esan people who were absorbed into Igbo speaking Anioma today. As we speak, Ekpon, an Esan town in Edo is losing her Edoid language in favour of an Igboid( Ika) one. And we all know of the Existence of Igbo( Ika) speaking Igbanke people right in Edo state, and the Edo origin stories of many Igbo towns today in Anioma, Anambra, Rivers, and even some Enugu towns.

Ogoni people share a long history with Ndoki Igbo, just as a significant section of Okrika people are said to have originated in Ndoki. Ndoki also has ancestral connection with the Ibani people in Bonny and Opobo as well as with Ibibios.

Ngwa Igbo and Ikwuano Igbos share alot with the Annang people, their interactions was pre colonial as neighbors with Inter marriage and trading as well as diffusion of cultures both ways, like the Ekpo society.

The Aro Igbo people were traversing the entire Ibibio- Efik-Ekoi area, breaking cultural barriers by development of unified cultural ideologies like the Ekpe cult system and the Nsibidi writing system, centuries before the white man created Nigeria and the Urhobo man became aware that there was ever a people called Ibibio- Efik-Ekoi people.
And these people remain neighbors to Aros and to Ehugbo Igbos and Ikwo Igbos even till today.

I can go on and on.

But I'm sure you already get the point.

AjaanaOka:
Concerning "Ossai", we may be looking at two different names that happen to sound alike.

I saw a list of Ukwuani names where Ossai (written as 'Osai' in the list) was explained as "He chose me". Now in Ukwuani, 's' replaces 'r/h'. Thus 'oru/ohu' (slave) becomes 'osu' in Ukwuani; 'iru/ihu' (front) becomes 'isu'; 'ora/oha' (public) becomes 'osa'. 'Ra/ha' (choose --- as in ralu ife, 'pick/choose something) becomes 'sa'.

The list also has another name written as Ossai, which it didn't explain but simply said was the name of a deity. I'll come back to the deity Ossai, but it seems that two similar sounding names met in Ukwuani and became confused one with the other so that an Ossai may not know whether his name means "He chose me" or whether he was named for the deity.

Coming to the Nsukka "Ossai", I am 90% positive this is an adaptation of an Igala name. Igala people bear the name "Ochayi". There is a tendency for Igala 'ch' to become 's' in Igbo and vice versa. Thus Igala would call Asaba "Achaba". Igala words like Achogwa and Achadu become Asogwa and Asadu in Igboland.

In that vein, Ochayi becomes Osayi in Igboland/Nsukka. I've come across old books where the name in Nsukka was actually written as Osayi. Ossai is probably only a 'funkified' way of writing it.

Returning to "Ossai" the deity in Ukwuani, it may be interesting to point out that in Osomala there is (or was) a deity called Ossai Anaja Oboli which was said to have come from Igala. This was probably the same deity that penetrated Ukwuani. Thus, it would appear that the Igala "Ochayi" also reached Ukwuani (as Ossai) and accounts for the second meaning of the name Ossai/Osai.
Interesting.

I was fascinated the day I met one Ossai from Enugu. What's the meaning of Enugu Ossai?
Don't know. A variant of Ossai in contagious Nsukka area is Ohai. I had a class mate in secondary school at Enugu city with this Ohai as surname, a very good friend, he is from Nsukka area too. The people answer both names.

I asked a colleague from Enugu-Ezike with Ossai as surname, the meaning of the name, he told me that neither him nor his father knows, but that many in his town answer the name.

On further digging, I found out that Enugu Ezike claims Bini origin too in addition to Igalla, Idoma and wait for it, NUPE influence ( The Adukwu family) as well as core Nshigrin Now how about that for diversity.

Enugu North senatorial district is the most mixed and diverse part of Igboland, not Anioma.

You have communities in Enugu North senatorial district claiming Igala, Idoma, Nri, Awka, Bini, Nupe origins, with traditional surnames from these groups to prove it.

Is Omambala now a clan of Igbo? Is Omambala nolonger just a state that will cease to exist the day Nigeria stops existing.

Biko let's stop unnecessary bickering and look at the bigger picture, which is that whether Onitsha ends up forming a political unit with Ezechima clan in Western Igbo area or chose to remain within the Idemili-Oyi-Njikoka- Anaocha cluster in an Igbo nation, it won't matter, as it will always be an Igbo town.

If it comes down to it. And the SW unites with SS for fight for offshore oil control. The SE should simply sit on the fence and let them slugg it out with the North. Because with the North numerical advantage at the NASSS, there is no way the SS/SW are winning that battle even if SE supports them. We( SE) have bigger fish to fry.

All the oil in the Igbo speaking parts of Rivers/ Delta and in Imo/ Abia and Anambra basin are onshore oil wells.
Our fight is should be for 100% control of land and. land resources by indigenes, which Will translate to the abrogation of the land use act, and not Offshore battle.
We shouldn't stand on SW/SS way on their impending offshore battle with the FG and the North, but we shouldn't equally meddle into offshore fight, it's simply not our fight. We sit this one out, and conserve our strength for more strategic fights.

This is just my opinion, which I believe I'm entitled to, and does not represent the stand of Ndiigbo on this issue.

If you read my post very well you will realize my suggestion is absolute dissociation. Go take a look at the recently rearranged Rivers State official website how the present Government of Nyesom Wike removed Igbo from the ethnic groups in Rivers State and added Ijaw. In reality there is no Ijaw in Rivers State but there are Igbos inhabiting Oyigbo LGA 99% and 3 Egbema villages in ONELGA. There are Igboid and Ijoid groups with Igboid inhabiting most of the upland and Ijoid inhabiting most of the Riverine. What is the motive behind this removal if not to annex Obigbo or deny the 3 Egbema villages their rights despite being responsible for most of the oil in ONELGA.
That recent distortion of Rivers state website to remove Igbo totally from it and render Obigbo and Egbema persona non grata is the highest height of insult on us by Wike, Wike is shameless for doing that, and when the time is right, we will all make sure he pays for that.

This is ICT age, that change in Rivers state official website has not gone unnoticed. My Igbo online groups have been discussing that lately.

It's not bad enough that Oyigbo is totally neglected by Wike with no single road being constructed there, he would now seek to deny their presence in Rivers state.

Oyigbo LGA that contributes about 22,000bopd of crude oil, and three Egbema communities in Rivers produce about 22,000bopd as well, a combined total of 44,000bopd. Meanwhile the entire Ikwerre 3 and half LGAs produce just a total of 49,000bopd, yet Wike thinks he can treat Oyigbo and Egbema like this and go free without consequences.

Wike just took Ikwerre Igbophobia to a different level all together, and this has not gone unnoticed.

So it's distortion galore for every History revisionists there as long as it aids in propagation of their political agenda.

Who is to say that the Ugbo version of Oduduwa story is not the authentic one, who is to say that the Oyo and Ife ones are not the authentic ones.
We can't know who is telling the truth now, but one thing we know is that all Yoruba people are united by their Yoruba language and dialects.

Everything else is secondary.

Side point: It would appear like the Ugbo king was taking a dig against the Ooni of Ife, with the talks of an Oba having to stay in palace and not supposed to have his father still alive.
That is wrong of the Ugbo king, to say such things about his colleague in public newspaper.

Since Ika and Ndokwa have a sizeable population of Igbo deniers then Ndigbo should remove them from every Igbo organization. I've personally stopped sharing Igbo ideas with anybody that speaks Igbo but denies being Igbo long ago.
Yes. Ika is a bad influence.I agree with you.

This is why in football, once a player is headstrong and non conforming, the manager must ship him out of the club immediately or risk the player inciting the rest of the team mates against him the club and the manager.

The thing about bad eggs, is that, if left in the company of good ones, they spread their disease to the good ones and turn the whole crate into a mess.

Ika Igbo denials are not just comfortable with their shameful acts, they fight tooth and nail to subtly or forcefully rope Aniocha/ Oshimili people into their madness.
I had noticed this in Anioma forums.

This is similar to what Ikwerres/ Ogbas expect of Ohaji / Egbema people, they keep trying to incite them into Igbo denials, subtly and forcefully by cajoling them and painting the rest of SE in bad light.

The situation is a delicate one, because we still have proud Igbos like Osita Mordi in Ika, and proud Igbos in Ukwuani, Ikwerre and Ogba, are these proud Igbos in these places in the minority?
