The problem is that we dont know who are the migrants and who are the first settlers in this case. many of d villages could be bini, some ibo, so even igala, what we are sure is dat there are several migration waves.
Lol! You can't be serious. In absence of a colonial Igbo land forcing Igbo language on groups. It's obvious that the Language of the majority of the dwellers in Ancient Anioma was Igbo, as Igbo language ended up swallowing all other languages there, despite the imperial power of Bini on Anioma and the proximity of Ika and Even Igbanke to Edo, the people ended up with a classical Igbo dialect. Except in few cases where these immigrants founded their own independent communities, as in Ebu ( Igala) and Odiani ( Olukumi) could Igbo language of the majority of the natives of anioma not prevail. cool

Even Odiani today is seriously assimilating into Igbo mainstream of Anioma, as they kings now go by the name "Obi" and with Igbo names and titles to match.

Its not hard for any genuine anthropologist to figure out who were the main inhabitants and were in majority in Anioma before the arrival of others. cool

Igbo acceptance is higher in the Enuani area but did you say there's no Igbo denials there? When will igbos stop telling themselves lies and embrace the truth. Initially on this forum it was majority of Ikas see themselves as Igbos but when they saw that that lie is no longer working, they decided to narrow it down to Enuani. did you say Igbophobic? What do you mean by Igbophobic? Lol... So to you anyone that doesn't deny himself to accept you is against you? Hahaha!!! Only losers feel that way.

And what do you mean by Stockholm syndrome? Between Anioma and other Delta groups? If you say that, then you don't even know anything about Delta and Anioma politics.

In terms of human resources and man power, no group can compete with Anioma in Delta State. Even in Nigeria, no group can compete with Anioma if you put the population into consideration. We've been running things from the colonial era down to this present dispensation. Check all FG political appointment slots for Delta and see how many percent is always occupied by Anioma people. That other Delta groups get jealous and try to compete doesn't mean they're anywhere near us
Igbo denial in Enu ani is a very very minute issue. Like. 2% of the population.

So ultimately, Enu ani political inclination in regards to the Igbo identity is at variance with those of Ika.

Where exactly was it written here that majority of Ikas see themselves as Igbos?

Ikechukwu and Ugomba who are Enu ani men here had warned you several times to stop pulling Enu- ani into Ika identity crisis.

The gladiators in Enu- ani are always Igbo, I am yet to see one of them that deny being Igbo. From
Elumelu, to Okonji to Okocha,to Pat Utomi to Osadebey, to Asagba of Asaba.

They are all proudly Igbos. Stop attaching your identity crisis to them, it won't stick.

Lol. A lot of you Igbos are just too illogical and emotional.

In 1900, the total population of Igbos stood at 4million. And that was half the total population of people in Southern Nigeria at that time. A lot of Yorubas lost their lives to Kiriji wars and Bini kingdom had already collapsed into smaller kingdoms everywhere.

So, why won't such an aggressive group with massive population dominate its neighbours and have an influence on their language?
Yorubas were primitive people. Here is an article on your phantom non existing Oyo empire by a Bini scholar.
http://ihuanedo.ning.com/m/group/discussion?id=2971192%3ATopic%3A124153

There was no evidence of existence of an aggressive Igbo empire bent on expansionism.
Rather it was an expansionist Bini empire that encroached into hitherto Igbo speaking enclave known in colonial parlance as Western Igboland and influenced the government of the people.

Eastern region has the most diversity in language in Southern Nigeria, this is because Igbos were never Imperialists, we existed in clans and negotiated peace with neighbouring non Igbo speaking groups.

That wall only exists in your head. I see no wall. "when in 1996 our people were assured of support from Ndi Igbo

Anioma state was not created instead Ebonyi was, thanks to the
last minute turn around and support from Ndi Igbo. This
experience was articulated by Professor Ijomah during the
Congress of Izu-Anioma held at the POCO Plaza, Ogwashiuku,
March 3rd, 1998, when he said, "... it was agreed during the last
state creation exercise that Anioma State should be created. When
the stakes were down, the Ibos across the Niger abandoned the
Anioma quest at the last hour and supported the creation of
Ebonyi State which was not seriously being canvassed before
then, causing Anioma to lose." (The ANIOMA, Vol. 10, No 1, May,

So a couple of misled sons of Anioma makes all of us complicit? Is that right?

I'm not claiming to know more than him, after all he is my elder and a traditional ruler. However, I have also been educated by his peers, other rulers and accomplished men who disagree with his point of view. Who is to say he is more right that the others? The advantage of an open mind is one seeks the opinions of those who know better (even if they differ and compete), digests their teachings, and comes up with his own interpretation. Most of our leaders are seeing, with the benefit of hindsight, the errors of their assumptions and hopes as younger men. They are now realizing and acknowledging that there is a distinct Anioma identity, which must be nourished and cherished.

So somebody says "you are so and so", does that mean you cannot reply "no, actually, this is what I am"?

Itse Sagay? Baby that's Delta politics for you. And truttruth be told, we were not supposed to be part of Delta but for some reasons, we ended up with them and luckily had the capital of a State we were not included in the original plan situated in our area. That's the main reason for the bitter politics in Delta. They felt shortchanged so to remind you that you were not supposed to be in a State were you have the capital, they call you Igbo. But truth be told, we also have so many things in common especially in culture and to some extent, in our worldview which was as a result of having the same origin. Anioma and Igbo don't have anything in common. Our lives are complete opposite, different worldview, different cultures only similar languages which unfortunately is more pronounced. That's why many Nigerians readily label the whole Anioma as Igbo
This is classical display of Stockholm syndrome.

Next time, learn to speak for your Ika group, and not entire Anioma. Enu- ani people as led by Asaba does not share in your Igbophobic propaganda.

Ikechukwu and Ugomba had pounded this into your head here, over and over.
Enu-ani shares everything in common with Onitsha and Ogbaru in Anambra.

I understand Ika people have An Edo speaking group they harboured centuries ago, by the name Oza nogogo, these people I learnt are customary tenants to Agbor kingdom and are considered part of Agbor.

I once had an argument with a seriously Igbophobic Agbor man, only to later discover that he wasn't from Igbo speaking Agbor proper, but from this Edoid customary tenants of Agbor called Oza people.

Are many Yorubas ancestrally Yorubas?

Are the Ijebus not Sudanese descendants? Is Oduduwa not a Bini Prince?

Is Lagos dynasty no longer of Bini ancestry?
Are most Oyo people not Nupes who conquered Katunga and assimilated into the Yoruba groups there? Are half of those Yoruba speaking Kwarans no longer Hausa and Fulani people that conquered those places, but were still overwhelmed by the indigenous population, so much that they had to assimilate and today speak and answer Yoruba names?

What's this fascination of Nigerians with everything Igbo. Are there any ethnic group on earth that is 100% homogeneous and don't incorporate non ethnic neighboring migrant societies who become assimilated into their host language and culture?

Asagba of Asaba is not a recognized king in Delta. A monarch from a tiny Anioma village commands more respect than the Asagba. Please stop saying what you don't know. If you're from the east, you can never understand Deltans. We might have issues with the Urhobos because of politics, but we understand each other more than Anioma and East. They can call us Igbos for political reasons. It's a form of derogatory word for them and they enjoy doing it. It's all because of politics but deep down their hearts, they know the difference between Anioma and igbos.
You are lost. They call you Igbos because they know you are Igbos. They have been there with you all through.

They knew when your sons were basking in the glory of the Igbo Union, when the Igbo ethnic group was at the peak of her prowess, they knew you took delight in being Igbo then, and they know why some of you are running away from your shadows.

Btw, Asaba is the biggest and most important Anioma town today. I know this fact is very hard for Agbor and Owa people to bear, seeing as they held sway over Anioma in the past. But such is life, things change.

Asagba of Asaba by the virtue of Asaba status today as the most important Anioma town, remains the most important traditional ruler in Anioma today.

When Ibe Kachiukwu was appointed, it was Yorubas and their Northern brothers that went around saying that they know that Igbos will reject him, saying that he is not from SE.

Never for once did we malign Ibe's appointment, we welcomed it, and simply said that it's not enough, that we wanted more.

Stop this your sob and victim story already. It exists not.

Okonjo Iweala biggest supporters remain SEners even though she is an Anioma daughter.

If anything, it was Ika people that started warning us here to stay away from celebrating Emefiele when GEJ appointed him the CBN governor, by reminding us that he is an Agbor man from Ika and not an Igbo man.

By the way, Ibe Kachiukwu is not an Ika man, he is an Enu-ani man, and you hardly encounter Igbo denials amongst Enu-ani people. Igbo denial is mainly an Ukwuani and Ika problem.

Africa was once a modern coined name. As was America. As was Nigeria. As was Yoruba at one time. As was Igbo. Why kick up when a new term (50 years old actually) is coined?

About the Anioma man leading the coup... as far as most Nigerian's were and are still concered: "Ibo-speaking means Igbo." This is simply not true. Even Anioma leadership has been awakening to the fact that we are in fact not Igbo. The great irony is that the people who remind us that we are not "true Igbo" are non other than Igbos themselves.

To wit:

Witness how they fled across the Niger and blew up the bridge to leave their so-called "brethren" to be massacered at the hands of the Nigerian side.
Witness how the vast majority of leadership in Igbo matters is from "core Igbo"
Witness the creation of Ebonyi state, rather than Anioma, when Igbos did a backface and withdrew their support for Aniomas at the last moment for political gain.
Witness the arrogance and contempt with which they proclaim themselves and put Anioman's down.

You can't see all these and accept that we're all the same.
Are you serious? You are just reaching for straws. Was it not Achuzia an Asaba son that led the Biafran Army that brought down the Niger bridge?

What Anioma leadership is awakening to the fact that Anioma is not Igbo? Cos the last time I checked, the most prominent Anioma traditional leader is the Asagba of Asaba, and he remains a grand patron of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo and a crusader for Igbo unity.

I don't think you know more about Anioma that the erudite professor of Medicine cum traditional ruler of Asaba himself. So you might as well go and park one place.

As long as the entire Nigeria is concerned, Nzeogwu is an Igbo man, because it serves their purpose of selling the "Igbo coup " propaganda, even though never for once had SEners denied Nzeogwu, despite the fact that we were made to bear the full blunt of his actions.

Can you get me a genuine verifiable document to proof that Ndiigbo jettisoned the Anioma state project in place of Ebonyi state creation?

How can we look down on Anioma and still elected Anioma sons to lead Ohanaeze Ndiigbo and Aka Ikenga, both of which are apex and elitist Igbo organisation?

Nwanne, you are talking off point.

What you've said makes sense. But, as you can see Sir Osadebey himself (an Anioma man from Asaba) recognized the need for a new name to more accurately describe the people of Anioma. You're right it is an Igbo word, no doubt, but that does not translate that the people it describes are Igbo. Just as the word Nigeria (Niger-area) does not mean its people are English.
Lol! The entire people were called Western Igbos by the colonials, then Mid western Igbos and Bendel Igbos.

Was Zik not from Onitsha, a town that shares more in common with Anioma than the rest of SE?

In SE we also call each other names, Anambra people are supposed to be ndi agbaenu that loves money and are into rituals, Abakaliki people are supposed to be backward people, Imo people are well "onye imo" which as far as an Anambra supremacist is concerned is a derogatory word. Enugu people are Wawa people.

All those things are little sentiments found all over any ethnic nation, for example in England, th. Southern English consider the Northern English people to be less enlightened than themselves, and find their English accents funny.

I have heard Anioma people tell me that SEners are ritualists, 419ners and greedy people, and that's why they will never accept being kin with us, but when I sit such people down to explain their accusations, they turn out blank.

You don't take those things to heart, people will always be people with their ignorance.

Ah ah... has it come to that? I was simply giving examples that the fact that a people speak a certain language does not make them the same as the originators of said language. You are right about being on different continents and colonialism, and I shall look for more appropriate analogies in the future. However, if an Anioma person speaks Igbo, yet traces his origins to Yoruba, Benin, Igala, and other places, based on his own unique history, why would you insist that he is of Igbo stock, without trying to understand his point of view? That was the point I'm trying to make.

Is such a person Yoruba, or is he Igbo? Or both? For us, we think neither of the three, because that emphasizes the other regions without recognizing the emergence of a newer identity: he is Anioma
The truth is that no ethnic group is 100% homogeneous, at points the ethnic group meets another Ethnic group, there are bound to be admixtures from the border ethnic groups.

If there are Igala, Edo or other ethnic group migrants in Anioma, they are extremely in the minority and were totally assimilated by the larger Igbo groups there. This is why Anioma became an Igbo speaking enclave, it had indigenous Igbo speaking people who were in the majority from the very beginning.

This very fact is highlighted by the fact that right within Anioma, we still have the Yoruboid speaking Odiani people who migrated from Ondo and who despite being surrounded by Igbo speaking groups, still maintained their Yoruboid Olukumi language, even though they now speak Igbo language( Enu-ani) as a second language, thus they are bilingual.

Anioma is still an Igbo word coined out by Dennis Osadebey who himself was a proud Igbo man and a member of Igbo union of the old, using Aniocha, Ndokwa, Ika and Oshimili initials ie ANIO, and addition MA to it.
Without Igbo, Anioma has no meaning. It's meaning is only found in Igbo.

They want 100% control of their resources, too, to keep them in your failed state, you would have to give them 100% control of their resources, which would defeat your entire aim of fighting the war, which is to have a lion share of their crude oil to yourselves.
Failure to give them 100% resource control will lead to them fighting for their own independence too. So you will be fighting on different fronts.

And lest I forget, the Nigerian Army is already stretched to the limit and resources to maintain them are dwindling and would even dwindle more during the war.

Further more, you would have to withdraw most of them from the NE where they are currently fighting Boko Haram to the East, this step will see the Boko Haram rejuvenation and revitalized to make further push towards territorial control of the entire North.
Your rag tag Army will be spread too thin fighting in different fronts ( Igbolands, Southern minorities, Boko haram), and with most of them not really patriotic to the Colonial entity, for we know that for all intents and purposes, most Nigerian soldiers are into it for employment and financial gains, it wouldn't be long before they all desert their posts and head home to save their lives. I can't imagine Yoruba citizens enrolling into the military to save Nigeria, the selfless patriotism isn't just there, yet this is what Igboland has in abundance towards Biafra.

I'm sorry bro, the odds are against you this time around.

Lol, all what u said here is bull-shit, u are simply agreeing to the fact that Nigeria will defeat Biafra the second time again. But it will be bloody. No entity is useless as far as there are people, there is hope. just like every country that experienced war, we will start rebuilding again after war, while u biafrans will be busy burying ur dead, and getting bitter at the fact that u lost a second civil war with the same enemy.
You are silly. Nigeria won't defeat Biafrans. Foreign powers will, and Nigerian would have to pay them with the future of Nigeria to do so

So in the end , everyone loses out.

In other words, Nigeria can't win Biafra.

Nigeria is incapable of winning Biafra, not when she can't manufacture tooth picks. grin

Lol, Ojukwu too was a selfish man, he want a Nigeria that will benefit only the easterners. The Aburi accord was more like telling other Nigerians that they have no right over the crude oil resources in the Niger delta. Ojukwu was selfish, he wanted confederation, he wanted greater autonomy over the oil resources, which means that the Nigerian government won't have any say over the crude resources.he only wanted the oil for u easterners alone . But we no agree. We all know that Nigeria will never agree to such deal. The oil resources must be shared among everyone. No wonder u people are so selfish
Lol! Atleast you are truthful to yourself. The reason for your demonic attachment the East is crude oil.

Well, Ndiigbo could care less about your attachments to crude oil. If you rhetorics are right, I wager that Isokos, Urhobos, Itsekiris, and even Ijaws are eager to continue enjoying your failed union with you.

As for Ndiigbo, we rejected you in 60's and NOTHING on earth will ever change how we see you lots.

Lol, u never see anything. Everybody knows Ivory Coast fought a civil war, because thousand died. How about u test buhari, then u can judge if he is man enough like Putin, or has an army that can be good enough like Putin army. And for ur information, there is no United Russia, even in Chechnya, there low level secessionist insurgency, and also there re autonomous region in Russia that want secession, but due to fear of Putin and the Russian army, they can't even try. The Chechnya-Russian war is like an example to them of what will happen to them if they dare Putin army by trying to secede. Also, is Morocco not a third world country located in Africa? Why did NATO and U.N not intervene in the war but allowed Morocco to kill and subdue the secessionist?. And for ur information, Buhari is not a genocidist, at least, the world does not recognize him as such, it's only u brainwashed biafrans that see him like that, just because he fought in a war that was NECESSARY.
You are silly to be comparing Russia with Nigeria. Russia is a world power capable of manufacturing military weapons, Nigeria is a failed state that imports even tooth picks.

You needed foreign support for continuous supply of weapons to suppress Biafra the last time around. You can't defeat Biafra without those foreign support as they are more determined than you.

Foreign support don't come cheap, the Caucasian powers or their Asian brothers are not father Christmas, they won't provide you with those weapons without concessions on your own part, you will need to sell off the soul of your already failed colonial entity to keep them on your side, and even with that, it won't be easy for you to put down Biafrans, but even if you succeed, you will end up with even more useless state than you have today, with your Caucasian masters squeezing tight on your neck with concessions you desperately made to them during your war time desperation. You will never realize your utopian African Giant status, but instead will remain a perpetual vassal state.

Damn, as far back as 60's you needed to concession off Bakassi to Cameroun to win them over your side even with a Fulani Cameroonian president on seat. I bet this time around, you might need to concession off the entire Adamawa and Taraba states to Cameroon to win them over, now that the Fulani there are no longer in power. cheesy grin
They could even go for the jugular and demand for oil rich Akwa Ibom and Cross river states. After all, there is no love found between Nigerians and Cameroonians, and Cameroon could as well capitalize on your desperation again, like they did before.

If a Second civil war don't disintegrate Nigeria, it will render her entirely useless for eternity.

These questions really makes a lot of sense. Those who shouts "one Nigeria" should help answer this pls.
Their idea of "one Nigeria" is one built on injustice where they can achieve their selfish interests at the expense of others. It was never about patriotism to Nigeria, it's about what they stood to gain from Nigeria unity.

Ojukwu asked the same questions for Nigerian unity in Aburi. Those who stood to entrench injustice rejected all agreements reached at Aburi and went about screaming "One Nigeria".

You have come too far? Who are you decieving with that? If Scotland which was a part of Britain for 350 years could negotiate a referendum in 2014 where thy almost left Britain, then how far do you think you have gone? 102 years? Don't make me laugh. If Britain that created Nigeria could allow Scotland the choice of staying or going, then Nigerias unity is not only negotiable, it must be negotiated!

It is quite insulting that a Hausa man will be telling an Igbo whom he has no historical connection that they must be together. I laugh in Igbo
The demonic attraction of Arewa-Odua people to Biafrans is quite unsettling.

"Tambuwal rejected calls for the “geographical” restructuring of the country, saying instead, the country should focus on fiscal restructuring."

How exactly can there be fiscal restructuring without Geographical restructuring?

The North currently holds unfair amount of slots in LG distribution and NASS, conferred to her by the Northern military junta through proliferation of states in the North.

Geographical restructuring might alter that.
