The Yòrùbás didn't officially support Nigeria during the civil war until the Biafran side chose to attack core Yorubaland which was checkmated at Òrè (in modern day Ondo State).
The attack happened after Biafra captured the Mid-West (Edo & Delta).
Some Igbos already blew up Casino Cinema at Yábà, Lagos before traveling to the East but we let that one slide.

We weren't interested in the war or any other war. We believe in negotiations.
(But some people mistakes the Tiger's yawning for cowardice)
Stop writing nonsense.
There is no evidence that Igbos blew up Casino Cinema.
The most plausible narrative is that the FG in alliance with Awo decided to blow up that Cinema to rile up Yorubas who were undecided to side FG against Ndiigbo.

Igbo march towards Lagos was logical since Gowon and Northern soldiers were sitted there and Awolowo had given Ojukwu the impression that the reason Yoruba couldn't declare independence was because of presence of Northern Soldiers in Lagos and Western region.

4. The Rivers Province …includes the two divisions of Brass and Degema, both overwhelmingly Ijaw, and the Ogoni Division. The former Rivers Division also includes over 300,000 Ibos of whom 250,000 are in Ahoada Division and 45,000 in Port Harcourt. Port Harcourt is a town of recent growth and of rapidly increasing importance; it is built on land that blonged originally to an outlying branch of the Ibo tribe, the Diobus, but is largely inhabited by the Ibos from the interior who have come to trade or seek employment….Of the total 747,000 in the Rivers province, 305,000 are Ibos, 240,000 are Ijaws and 156,000 are Ogonis.”

5. “The strip to the south of the Ibo block, is physically, divided by a block of Ibo territory, tipped by the important Ibo town of Port Harcourt and tribally divided between the Ijaws and the Ogonis.”

6. “In the whole of this non-Ibo area there is present in varying degree some fear of being over-run, commercially and politically, by the Ibos….. if Ahoada and Port Harcourt, which are really Ibo, are considered with the solid centre of Ibo population, there are 54 seats for the Ibo area and 30 for COR (Calabar, Ogoja and Rivers) in (Eastern Regional House of Assembly).”
This is how Willink report described Ikwerre (Diobu) and Ekpeye/Ogba (Ahoada) clans.
As Ibos!

Oga stop clowning and read the paper again. Even before the war, the Igbo controlled Eastern government recognized Ikwerre among the minorities and not as Igbo. Ikwerre never identified as Igbo. They had minority representatives and Igbo representatives. Infact the person that raised the famous 'minority question' at the assembly was the late Ikwerre lawyer Wobidike Wonodi (SAN).

It was this question that actually made some Igbo leaders to start insulting the minorities exposing the evil agenda they planned if the war succeeded, that made some minorities to rethink their initial support. People like KO Mbadiwe were boasting saying things like "who the hell are the minorities"? Interestingly, he was among the Igbos that used the money meant to buy weapons for the war, to buy houses in London.

Ojukwu was using the assembly as a smokescreen. He never took decisions based on their opinions or recommendations.
You are just talking nonsense as usual. You are not making any sense as usual.

No time in pre Civil war Nigeria was Ikwerre referred to as non Igbo by Igbos and even colonial masters.
If you say otherwise, post a single pre 1970 document where Ikwerres were addressed as anything other than Ikwerre-Ibo, like Ngwa was Ngwa-Ibo, Ndoki as Ndoki-Ibo, etc.
Just post one!

Ikwerre, Ekpeye, Ogba were clearly recognized as Igbos who were in Minority province, likewise Izzi and Ezza, and Ikwo who were in Ogoja province.

As for your stupid story of KO. Mbadiwe saying who the hell are minorities, can you provide a verifiable source for that?
I know that all you inferiority complex suffering people know about is to make up lies against Ndiigbo to justify your low esteem driven Igbo hate.

For those who make the ridiculously infantile though comical claim that Ikwerre was Igbo before the war, but started changing their names and denying their so called 'Igboness' after the war, why did the Ojukwu led government appoint Ikwerre representatives among the minorities to the eastern consultative assembly?

Lies could be told a thousand times but would never outshine the truth.
What are you on about?
Every county had representatives in the Eastern consultative assembly. Even Igbo counties.
Why should Ikwerre county not have a representative too?

Anyway, are you admitting that there was indeed an Eastern consultative assembly with members from every single ethnicity and clan in Eastern region who Ojukwu consulted before Biafra was declared?
Because the usual narratives from your likes is that Ndiigbo forced you into Biafra without consultation.

This is one problem with you people that has made you continue to loose the prize. Ojukwu's Biafra from his Ahiara manifesto exudes black pride and freedom of the black race. But Nnamdi Kanu's Biafra is all about Judaism.

If you want us to keep Biafra then you should get ready for more controversies. More scammers hijacking it, more illiterates fine-tunning it to soothe their ego and the likes. Nothing stops anyone from honouring the fallen Biafra heroes, but one thing contant in life is change. A new name but the old Biafran flag can be maintained.
Biafra name is not the problem.

The boundary can easily be modified to read : IGBO ONLY.
Afterall, MNK and IPOB is not even using the 1967 map.

You still don't understand my point. Biafra will always be a multi-ethnic and faulty agenda regardless of who is spearheading it. Biafra is not about Ndigbo, it was never.

So the earlier this Biafran is discarded for a true Igbo nation with a strategy the better. And wven at the the new stance must involve in local politics as the Scottish party of Scotland and that of Wales is doing in Britain.
Biafra is and will always be Igbo.

It's part and parcel of Igbo history.

I don't think we should discard the name Biafra.
I think we should keep it, but redefine and refine it to read:IGBO ONLY.

And since other Minorities who played part in the history of first Biafra had dissociated from it.
We will do a good job erasing any part of history that involves non Igbo participation in Biafra.

BIAFRA as a name evokes patriotism in the heart of Igbos. It's more than just a name why should any one want to throw that away?

We shouldn't discard it.

Eastern Ijaws share same blood connection with Ndigbo. A lot of mixing happened by virtue of mass Ijaw migration from the west to the east where they mingled with the natives. If you read ancient Kalabari, Okrika and Bonny history, you'll see that they told the British voyagers that their ancestral home is in Igboland. Any wonder why all their Kings claimed Igbo descent, from Amakiri to Pepple name them.

Biriye is still an enigma as only god knows where he came from. Even when Biriye was going about his shenanigan you could see that he was a one man show like Muric. The defeat of Biafra gave him an opportunity to cement his pre-independence northern alliance where Balewa promised a federal controlled Ijaw state if the NDC vote for them.

The Biafra war caused a lot of damaged for Ndigbo and the east. Take look at the map to see one of the effect. 1. Igbo denial syndrome and total wipe out of Igbo connections to the affirmentioned areas. 2. Igboland and map shrinked from the coast to only the small hinterland.
Yes Biafra war caused lots of issues for Ndiigbo.
It would take a second war to correct things.
You can understand why I'm not a fan of Zik.
We had a fire burning in our backyard and not for once did he sniff it out and handled. He was a very shortsighted fellow. The more you study past events, the more you realize this. Awolowo was more farsighted.

Unlike you, I don't believe there's is a political solution to this situation.

We just have to hang on long enough and make sure this final battle will not be one we are forced into at Emergency point.
It should be a well planned generational one. If we fail to put enough resources together, we can hand it over to our children.

We can try playing the political game as temporary measure while we plan the final battle as long term plan.
One we will fight with international allies and enough weapons.

That's my take on this.

And what was Zik and Okpara doing when he was bringing in these vipers? Zik might be forgiven cause he had his eyes on the centre, but Okpara was too politically amateur not to see the game played by NPC in his own backyard.

I think Igbos needs to understand the political game and forget about this Biafra for now. The cards are stack against us. The first thing to do is to play the politics right, even if it's to align with other group to seize power from the north.
You can forgive Okpara and Zik for ignoring the danger the Ijaws posed to the region and Ndiigbo as a whole.
They didn't have any antecedents to work with.
It doesn't make sense that the Ijaws would bring in the Hausa-Fulanis and scatter the whole region when they too would suffer from such scenario.
Okpara probably thought they were dealing with a people capable of rational reasoning.

So you we can forgive them, even though we are disappointed they weren't shrewd and strategic enough to see things better, but they can nevertheless be forgiven.

But what do you say about modern day mad men that call themselves IPOB and their leadership promoting multi ethnic BIAFRA with these same Ijaws?
I see some of them calling Ijaws "our brothers" and I just shake my head. This is reminiscent of an "Abuzu" burning on fire and kidding itself that it's producing oil and looking shiny.

The stupidity is mind-blowing.

These people (Ijaws) are planning to celebrate one stupid ceremony they call "Gaa Niger" today, where they twist tales and narratives and tell their children that Igbos tried to evacuate them from their lands during the war and replace them with Igbos. This is how they raise their children with Igbo hate from infant hood to adulthood.
You can imagine such blatant lies. When it's common knowledge that Biafra soldiers often evacuated theatres if war in BIAFRA even in Igboland, to minimize civilian casualties.

And you tell me these people can be brought to reasoning? Why would any well breast fed person want to share a country with these people? angry

You could see from the research that Oil was simply an excuse used by Boro to excute his scam 12 days revolution. The initial idea was already planned by Biriye and NPC before independence for an exclusive Ijaw state controlled by the federal government. I see Biriye's brainwashing of Boro that led the youngman to carry out such ignorant move. Biriye himself is not even a Bonny proper but a migrant from god knows where who failed politically in Bonny. Failed politically even in his own Ijawland and resorted to tribalism to so that his party NDC can gain acceptance in the riverine areas.
This is Afam uku in Owerri province and Aba division then o!
Oil was already being drilled in Igboland in 1957. Oloibiri was just 1956 o!
So it's not like it's just only Ijaw that was being drilled then.
And these were early days, Shell was exploring with their own money, so there was no rush for them to start paying up to the Government.
The idea was to channel profits to more exploration for future gains.

Little did Okpara and co knew! Chai!

This is why I insist on Igbo only country.

Minorities are nothing but draw backs to us. These lots don't reason well.

A Region was ran from 1938 to 1956 with Coal from Enugu and palm oil from mainly Igboland, AkwaCross and Igboid upper RIVERS ( Ikwerre, Ogba, etc) and taxation of the citizens.
Then immediately they discovered oil in your Region, and not only your own region o! Igbo regions had oil too, you went and brought in vipers and burnt down the house.

Shell paid 65,000 pounds to the Eastern region in 1959 which was shared with the FG.

It was so meagre that Awolowo and West Region never cared about it and the East was running around to tax citizens to raise money to keep the region afloat, hence the introduction of PAYE by Imoke.

It shall never be well with Adaka Boro and all who Revere him till today.

Boro is the reason why we came down from 50% derivation to a meagre 13%. Boro was an agent. If not, how did a common university student have access to weapons and money to gather hundreds of people to prosecute a war? Someone some where sponsored him. And again, if oil discovery and exploration happened in oloibiri in 1956 and 1958, it is very suspicious why Boro would seek for resource control just a mere 8yrs after. There were fewer oil field discovered then, so what could have inform him to take such a drastic action. I equally suspect that shell was involved in the crisis. Because at no time has the crisis rocking Nigeria has put a stop in oil exploration. Even during the civil war, oil Still flowed.
Eastern region hardly got any money from crude oil before the war broke out.
The region was reliant on dwindling palm oil revenue and PAYE taxation of citizens the Finance minister, Imoke introduced.

The very idea that Niger Delta was being exploited of it's oil spinned by Boro was a blatant lie!
Oloibiri was running in 1956, but Afam uku oil well came on board in 1957 and Owaza came on board in 1958. Both Afam uku and Owaza are in Igboland.
Shell made payment only thrice to Nigeria before the war.
I attached it below.

Boro was demonic. The East wasn't running on crude oil before the war.

Yes! Andoni has Igbo in it's make up.
They even celebrate the Nwaotam masquerade of Ndoki-Igbos and you look at the names of some of their towns and you see it sounds Igbo.
Yet the language is classified as lower cross River language, so it's Ibibiod.
Igbo influence in Andoni is not as much as Ibibio influence.
And Andoni is not same as Eastern Obolo, although they are all related and one Obolo people.

See it this way. Andoni is like Ika who have no contact with SE and hence assimilated too much Edo flavor. While Eastern Obolo is like ENU-ANI who remained contiguous to SE and hence retained purer and less contaminated Igbo language and culture.

What Igbo is to Andoni because of its proximity to Igbo speaking Opobo( infact, it's Said that Jaja had leased Opobo land from Andoni people) , is what Edo is to Ika.
An Igbo trying to claim relationship to Andoni because of few Igbo imprints there is as annoying as Edos trying to lay claim to Ika.

I now perfectly understand your concern, and in reality, you mean well for them. All you wrote are very real threats the enemy will want to use in their desperation but those calling for Ibom republic need to be very smart and proactive. Although, I still think that Ibibios have significantly far more stake geographically and historically on ibeno than the Ijaws. It is not the Nigerian government that will draw boundaries once their is referendum, it is the UN that will and the area will be ceded to Ibom people.

They need to be proactive just like IPOB in giving everyone within Akwa-Cross a sense of belonging by allaying their fears and presenting a platform that will protect everyone, regardless of how little or large the ethnicity is. Otherwise, the enemy will use those they left out to sabotage them.
Of course I mean well for them.
But my concern is not even primarily for them.
It's for Igboland.
I want the Akwa Ibom country to happen as it helps our own cause too and takes a bit of pressure off us as well.
But as a political strategist. I'm just looking at the Ibeno/Obolo issue and my prognosis doesn't look too good.
Maybe if they include Cross River State with the myriads of ethnicities there, the Ibeno-Obolo would feel less threatened by Ibibio Annang.
I'm only making a suggestion of course.

And yeah. I'm more interested in how to manipulate the situation to benefit Igboland. Annang/Ibibio MUST recognize the Ibeno-Obolo problem and fix it ASAP before going gung-ho on this independence march.

That is self denial, even the non igbos in the Niger Delta see them igbos, ikwerre as igbo ish people deep down and blood is thicker than water, they're only doing themselves more harm than good, that's my brutally honest submission on that issue, now unto my issue, you haven't been to Ibeno and Eastern obolo your whole life , even the online fact you're conveniently listening to what suites your narrative and not what the majority prefer, I've attached another photo below, you can keep quiet and help us achieve our goal or u can continue writing nonsense all over the place, rest assured if the ibibios and ijaws don't get their countries with their sister tribes, the igbos will not get Biafra, and if the igbos don't get Biafra neither will they get their countries ,its a two way relationship, so if u like continue being a clown and make enemies everywhere u go
You are not even listening.
Of course I know fully well that Ibeno and Obolo people, even Andoni,Ogbia, etc are not Ijaws.
These are all proto Ibibiod people.
I had argued on these for years on this forum with Ijaw land grabbers here.

But those things are just academic.
Everyone deep inside knows that Ika, Ukwuani, Ikwerre are Igbos.
But is that what is on ground politically today?
The answer is a big No!

The reality is that the Ibeno man and the Obolo man do not consider themselves Ibibio. They are your weak links and yet your whole Ibom republic project is based on them being involved.

Some of them are even confused about their ethnicity. Some say Ijaw ( minority) and many say they are independent ethnicity of their own, but you will never see any of them say they are Ibibio. It's a political problem.

Before you go blazing hot on Ibom country, fix the Ibeno-Obolo problem first. Because that's where the problem will start.
Infact, I have been searching the internet waiting for INC and IYC chapter in Ibeno and Eastern Obolo to disassociate themselves from any Ibom republic.
I'm surprised it's taking this long to come out. grin

I don't argue with idiots. Read the last line very well and if it's not ijaw that's written there thunder will fire u. Oron host the states international airport and maritime academy, ibeno as ibibios host the deep sea port and Eastern obolo a petrochemical plant, the fictional marginalisation your talking of is one of ur own creation, like I said earlier I dare u to go to those places and call them ijaw.
I belong to many Ijaw forums and I see Ibeno and Eastern Obolo people there.

Ibeno and Obolo don't see themselves as Ibibios.
This is the truth. You can try and lie to yourself all you like. But they don't consider themselves Ibibio.
They are like Ikwerre to you. All that is missing is for FG to empower them and you will have it hot!
There is a very palpable Ibibiophobia in Ibeno and Obolo.
Even in Oron.

Hmm. You can't wish these things away. They are there for all to see, and enemies will surely utilize them if you don't move quickly to neutralize them.

You really should be smart enough to choose your battles wisely. Why fight for Cross River people when they can fight for themselves?

You should even encourage Akwa Ibom people for being courageous enough to start their own movement. The more people agitate, the better! Let the Cross River people begin their own movement, ask Ibom people to incorporate them or simply join Igbos. The choice is theirs to make.
I'm not fighting for any one.
I'm protecting my own interests.
Ibom country championed by Ibibio and Annang is a sitting duck.
Fragmenting it and encircling the Ibibo/Annangs is too easy.

The Ibeno and Eastern Obolo don't see themselves as Ibibios.
Worst still, Ijaws( who have been partners to Hausa-Fulanis since the days of Boro and Harold Dappa) are present as indigenous people in those places, this has the shades of Bonny and Opobo during the civil war all over again.
The FG will simply raise those Ijaw people as new leaders of Ibeno and Eastern Obolo, and then declare them new States ( infact there has been talks of Atlantic/oil Rivers State, by Ijaws for years now that intends joining the entire coastal parts of Rivers State with Ibeno-Obolo in Akwaibom, the FG will just quickly announce the state) , and the Ibibo/Annangs will be trapped inland with no claim whatsoever to offshore oil fields of Ibeno-Obolo.

It isn't hard to see that this is the game FG would play if Annang/Ibibio show seriousness to this so called Ibom State.

As a concerned neighbor who wants them to succeed. I'm only giving them "Expo" now.

You're using an old moniker of 2009 and sentiment to an argument in 2021?
I'm starting to doubt you're igbo sef because I don't know why ibom Republic and who constitute it is suddenly your problem. Please get out
Ibeno and Eastern obolo people are still ibibios. If I say anioma or ikwerre people aren't igbos now you'll start crying all over the place like a baby
Nope. Ibeno and Eastern Obolo are not Ibibios.
Infact trying to call them Ibibios would only play into the hands of divide and conquer Nigerians who would definitely try to separate them from you.

My advice:

The success or failure of Ibom republic is hinged on Eastern Obolo, Ibeno and Oron, all of who have several degrees of misgivings towards Ibibio/Annang people who have dominated Akwaibom since it's creation.

Before Nigeria gets to Ibeno and Eastern Obolo, I am advising you lots to meet them, I mean their grassroots first and make real concessions and concrete assurances to them grin. Though this would be hard seeing how Ikot Ekpene (Annang) and Uyo(Ibibio) are shinning while many Ibeno and Eastern Obolo villages lie in squalor.
But do your best to promise them some amendments.

Because if not grin Wahala dey o!

Ijaw people are already in Ibeno and Eastern Obolo claiming to be Indigenous.

FG( Hausa-Fulani) will just empower those Ijaw people there and suppress any pro Ibibio voices there and that's game over!

Don't say I didn't warn you. cry
