Tingotoe:
A neutral stand on the issue means that if the status quo is not maintained, such a stand will be counterproductive for you
It will not be.

A neutral ground will be maintained just long enough to see who would win and then taking sides with them!
If current status quo remains, then we will be fine with it.
Make all man enjoy one Naijeriya they all fought for!
Hopefully, if current status quo remains, it would mean we supported the winning North in last minute, maybe with concession of punishing Rivers State by returning all oil Wells including Obiigbo they stole from us in 1970 back to us! cool

The will win the same way they always do. They've beat the FG multiple times in the supreme court regarding revenue. You're just trying to form important for nothing like you don't understand how courts work. Can you even name all the judges on the supreme court.
Don't be silly.
The VAT is issue is unlike anything in the past.
Nothing is guaranteed here.
If victory is sure for Rivers, they wouldn't be dragging the rest of SS along!
Don't come here talking nonsense.
The Unity of NIGERIA is the foremost principle guiding every aspect of Nigeria, including supreme Court judgements.

If such rulling threatens the unity of the country, supreme Court will not give it.

I think I agree with you, we need to start playing yoruba brand of 'sophisticated' politics of hypocrisy and shamelessness that you just described especially when don't really have much to gain or lose.

We have put our necks on the chopping block for ingrates in this country for too long. Ingrates who can never reciprocate same gesture if the shoe was on their feet.
Damn right!

We have to learn to be ruthless, only feather our own nests even if we have to burn other people's nest and the tree the nest is built on, to do so.

I want to see a level of political sagacity from SE Governors come tomorrow.

Umahi Better not disappoint.

It makes no difference. If Rivers win the get paid regardless if they join the suit. If FG wins the status quo remains regardless if they lifted a finger. Do you need it repeated again?
How will Rivers win nah?
Who controls the supreme Court judges?

If the FG see a United South and a possible Political crisis should Rivers lose the case, they will yield.
This is why Rivers went to tag along other SS states. And are hoping SE offer our emotional sympathy support as usual, which I expect SE governors to not offer this time around.
It's not just a legal battle, it's a political face-off.

SE can offer a soft landing to the North on the political angle, if they give us some concessions of course.
Politics › Re: VAT Brouhaha: SE Should Assume A Neutral Stand. by Igboid(op): 8:19pm On Oct 04, 2021
Tingotoe:
Your governors are mostly silent on the issue because your states all take in more from VAT than they contribute. Only a few staes in the federation are subsidizing the rest
SE is confident of it's financial sustainability which is why we want Biafra, of course with addition of all Igbo proud speaking groups carved into SS and NC.

Furthermore, we didn't have much to gain either when we supported SS push for 13% derivation.
But that era of emotional politics of right and wrong should be history in Igboland.

Taking a neutral ground on this VAT issue is SE best stand.

The SE joining makes no difference in the courts decision so it doesn't matter. The better argument will win the day. It's a court case not a vote.
Just as BRACED joining the suit makes no difference, Right?

The question I think you should first ask yourself. How much vat is coming from SE?
How much FG parastatals are located in South East?
How much oil producing communities were stripped from SE and added to SS?

A region without even an international airport, whose growing international airport in Enugu was snuffed out of life by bitter Nigeria bureaucracy.
Politics › Re: VAT Brouhaha: SE Should Assume A Neutral Stand. by Igboid(op): 8:13pm On Oct 04, 2021
I will give up hope on this current set of SE Political office holders, if they rise up from that Enugu meeting tomorrow and choose a side between the two waring factions!

The logical and rational position SE should take should be a "Neutral" position.

They should declare that meeting "inconclusive" and then fix a future date for further deliberations.
This way they buy time and drag fit to see who is likely to win between both factions.

Okwyjesus:
Wetin we get to fight VAT for. Na. SE/SW wahala.
The three regions (SW,SS and North) connived and stripped us of all oil producing Igbo speaking communities after the war.
Now they are fighting over the spoils of the war.
Our card should be to play neutral. And use our neutral position to extract benefits from both parties before choosing side with the eventual winner. cool
Politics › Re: VAT Brouhaha: SE Should Assume A Neutral Stand. by Igboid(op): 8:07pm On Oct 04, 2021
This is a good opportunity to have to play the "neutral" game other parts of the South have played on us in the past.
One good turn deserves another.

Play neutral and exploit both waring factions (SW/SS vs North) and then pitch tent with the eventual winners.

We have been in Nigeria long enough to start playing politics the Nigerian sophisticated way.

Let see
They should be diplomatic and assume an inconclusive stand tomorrow.

Reschedule meeting and strategically drag feet until we see who is winning between SS/SW and the North, then we move in and help the faction.

About time we started playing "sophisticated" and interest based politics.

I think we should assume a neutral ground and let SS/SW battle it out with the North, while we watch from sidelines.

Our discussion was about why Nigeria doesn't want Igbos exist, and I said it's because of ND oil, not really Igbos in particular. That brought us to this point of discussion.
Not true.
The non Igbo speaking part of Eastern region fell to FG forces very early in the war, Igbos were willing to go with just Igboland, but FG kept fighting until the Igbo heartland caved in.

If they only want non Igbo speaking groups in Eastern region, they would have stopped once they had captured those parts.

The FG doesn't want Igboland to go because of Domino effect.
Once Igboland secedes, the rest of the ethnicities in the tower of Babel will want out too.

Gratefulheart1:
True. ND is not a tribe, rather regions, but then if we want to judge by tribe, Igbos are not even majority in the main oil producing ND regions. But you see Igbos and MNK claiming this oil more than the real owners.
Even the population of Igbos in these oil regions are from attache and Land grabbing. Igbos travel a lot and small time would have erected themselves as real natives, same as Fulanis.

You see Yorubas in Delta, Edo, Kogi etc. Ondo is part of ND but you can't see Yorubas forcefully claiming other people's property. You can't see Yorubas claiming Edo, Delta, Kogi etc.

It's only Igbos that would be claiming Rihanna, claiming Jew, claiming ND oil, claiming Lagos, claiming Benue, claiming Kogi, claiming SS, claiming this, claiming that.

As much as I respect MNK as a prophet and very intelligent man, vast in knowledge and history, orator etc. These grabbing covetous attitude is one of his setbacks.
What exactly are you on about?

We are talking about republic of Igboland and you are talking about crude Oil that couldn't rescue dead Nigeria from it's third world status?
Please get serious.

MNK is alone in his Multiethnic BIAFRA.

Most Igbos will veto him on that. We want nothing to do with non Igbo speaking groups in SS.
However, we are very keen to reunite with Igbo speaking groups in SS and in North Central (Igbo speaking groups in Benue)
Politics › Re: Are Epies Ijaws? by Igboid: 6:12pm On Oct 04, 2021
They are not.
It's on record that Epie/Atissa people are proto Edoid people.

Their language is more or less related to Edoid languages like Isoko and Urhobo.

Also Degema(Udekeme) are not Ijaws too.
Degema people are proto Edoid people like Epie people too.

Epie people has a history of originating from Bini, and unlike the Ikwerre and other Igboid groups who fabricated Bini origin stories, Epie Edoid language validates and authenticates their Bini origin claim.

So they gained freedom? What was Martin Luther King and Malcolm x fighting for? What is the George Floyd protest about?

Blacks have never and will never be free in America, they are only free to leave
Malcom was fighting for equal rights and opportunities as well as inclusion, and not slavery.

Black slavery/freedom ended before Malcolm was born.

The battle for inclusion is a constant battle in every societal.
Racial equality, LGBT equality, women equality, handicapped persons equality, etc, are all different issues every society deals with.

The Igbo Political office holders are like the Warrant chiefs of the past.
They Know they don't represent the Igbos and that the power doesn't belong to them.
No Igbo respects or takes them serious because we know whose interest they serve and they are not Igbo interests.

The Igbo Political office holders are the least of our worries, they simply don't exist as far as we are concerned, which is why we have sit at home without them being able to affect it.
They are simply powerless.

No, everyone's target is the Niger Delta oil not Igbos.

Because Igbos have more affiliation and entitlement mentality on the ND oil.

If Igbos can leave while ND decides to stay, I don't think anyone would have cared.
What exactly is Niger Delta?
Is that a name of an ethnic group?
Be serious for once.

Igbo speaking groups when aggregated should be the outright majority in so called Niger Delta, however in Republic of Igboland, only Igbo speaking groups who are willing to join the rest of us in SE will be welcomed.
Already we have Enuani (Oshimili and Aniocha in Delta ) on board, and we have Oyigbo LGA of Rivers State on board too.
There is Isobo in Obubra LGA Cross River and Igbo communities in Benue state as well.
The other Igbo speaking groups like Ikwerre, Ogba, Ekpeye, Igbanke, Bonny,Ndoni, Opobo, Ukwuani, Ndokwa, will all be given a last chance option to join as well.

No well breastfed Igbo is interested in forming a country with non Igbo speaking groups in SS after leaving the tower of Babel called NIGERIA, we wouldn't want to create another one.

You are only shifting goal posts.
Truth is that once we get Biafra we leave your NIGERIA for you.
We did it in 1967, we left all parts of NIGERIA for you for Biafra.

If we are in all parts of NIGERIA today, it's because your terrorist NIGERIANS came to our homeland with British and USSR and Egyptian military support to force us back to Nigeria.

Blame yourselves, not us.

We will get Igbo republic, whether you like it or not.
The Igbo Spirit never accepts NO for answer in matters of freedom.

Whether Igbos vote or not vote, NIGERIA has no future.
It doesn't matter who is elected, at the end of the day, impoverishment of the masses will continue, Naira will continue to devalue, more bad roads, more unemployment.

So what's the whole point?

People saying the election will go on with or without Igbo votes, and so? grin
It's not like the lot of the country will change. So why are you feeling like Kingkong or like you are doing Igbos any humiliation or harm by voting in another inept leader like the ones in the past?

I remember when the mantra post 2015 was that Igbos no Sabi politics, say dem put all their eggs in one basket.
As if to say that the rest of the country will buy fuel at different price than Igbos, buy food at different price, exchange naira at different rate, etc.
