FreeIgbos: The first part in bold is no doubt our archiles heel. We are too democratic and liberal in a dog eat dog soceity.
The second part in bold, I think on the contrary, ikwerres and others are more likely to become less Igbophobic as oil becomes worthless. It was oil resources that made them proud in the first place because assumed it would make them rich and famous, so why share the gains with a larger body that lost a war and has huge "baggages". For the 50 years oil was in hot demand, they failed to make the sort of progress they anticipated and on the contrary too, the Igbos they thought were ruined were able to overcome their challenges and made giant strides in diverse sectors while they remained stagnated. In the long run, the ikwerres are likely to seek for reconnection with us, but that's something we shouldn't allow. You can't deal us a deadly blow when we were down only to seek for brotherhood when I'm successful. That's even the more reason I agree on the need to severe all links with them.
Allowing ikwerres the luxury of knowing that we will always be there for them is akin to a man that was jilted by his lover when he broke but only for him to keep hoping for reconciliation instead of cutting links with her. If such status quo remains, that same woman will never feel any sense of loss since she knows that she can always return to him tomorrow if he makes it.
With the oil era gone, there is nothing the ikwerre can offer or add to us but once it becomes official and we champion it ourselves that we have nothing in common with ikwerre, they will become vulnerable and would feel a sense of loss, considering their small numbers. On point and common sense. First bold, one would think this should be common sense to useless Igbos embracing Igbophobic Ikwerre and their ilks, but obviously common sense is a scarce commodity in Igboland these days. From the Radio Director to the Ohanaeze Ndiigbo. None can apply common sense. Second bold. God bless you. See another thread I made about Wike and Ikwerre since 2015. https://www.nairaland.com/2690352/wikerivers-state-election-re-runI did all my best on this forum to warn them about Wike and his Ikwerre innate Igbophobia. At a point the IPOB here started calling me an Afonja Have all I said there not come to pass? Now they are all shouting kill Wike kill Wike. Director is on radio shouting. Common sense peeps can not apply. Taa ka bukwa gboo. If they will listen. |

TrackerXL: The funny thing about this inquiry is that the commission was making excuses for the Igbos as to why every aspect of the agitation of the minority should favour solely them.
Starting from #7-8. Of this post the commission found out that Igbo filled themselves into political office n post at the detriment of the minorities but the commission justified that as seen in the judiciary claiming it should be federal but it is OK with every member being Igbo because it is Igbo chosen profession. How senselessly bias can a commission be ?
9. The commission claims it is federally controlled n admitted that indeed there is a large number of Igbo it is also OK because it have long long been a tradition among the Ibos to offer themselves for recruitment in this force in far greater numbers than any other tribe.”
Shouldn't there be systematic way to bring others to equilibrium on such appointments ?! Don't be silly: "but that is not to say that this was necessarily improper. Ibos constitute two thirds of the population of the region and have a bigger share of financial and commercial responsibility than their numbers warrant.” The commission noted that Igbos constituting 2/3 of the population of the region was always going to dominate appointment and that the appointment also reflected the 2/3 population of Ndiigbo in the region. |

FreeIgbos: While I agree with you about drawing a line against them, my point is that the only way we can truly humiliate these guys and make them regret all they did to us is only if we are able to become great.
When the war ended, the ikwerres assumed that we were totally down and out, never to rise again. They thought that the oil industry will make them rich so why accommodate us when we have nothing to offer them, instead by denying us, it will make it easy for them to claim our properties and ride on Igbophobic tendencies that was popular in Nigeria to fame. 50+ years later, the oil industry didn't make them rich as they had assumed while the Igbos they thought were routed have now clawed their way back up the food chain, and far more prosperous than them! Now, while the oil industry is past its prime, we Igbos are on the ascendancy, making exploits in many areas of life.
There is something about us Igbos that I don't understand. We claim to be Jews, but we don't act marchiavelian like the Jews when it matters most. Why on Earth would Igbos still return to build houses/plazas and buy properties in P.H after the terrible experience our parents suffered there? Maybe, it's our individualistic/capitalist nature that causes it but it's very wrong, everything shouldn't be about amassing profits! Imagine a P.H without Igbo investments?
Wike is trying to re-establish that same Igbophobia against us and worse still, he wants to rally all others against us and not just the ikwerres. We lack strong and wise leaders that ought to have corrected wike each time he makes his foolish statements. Lastly, you are right about cutting them off, at least it will stop them from eating their cake and still having it. The bold is the point. Yes! It's obvious we are a people without a political think tank. Everyone does what he like, little wonder we have become politically weak. I have a friend from Obiigbo. He said nothing pains him and his people most than the Igbophobia they have to endure from Igbophobic Ikwerre people in Rivers because they held unto their Igbo identity only to have Ndiigbo in SE embracing same IGBOPHOBIC Ikwerre people so much as have them occupy high posts in Ohanaeze Ndiigbo. He says it's equivalent to betrayal and that his people have concluded that the SE are a people lacking in political calculations and hence it has dawned on them that they have to start protecting their own interests themselves and that denying any link with SE is going to be the starting point of this. The only thing holding Obiigbo people for now is the Ndoki people trapped in Ukwa East Abia State. Ohanaeze, IPOB and all Igbo political elites have been a total disaster as far as relationship with minorities is concerned. The price we will pay if IPOB, Ohanaeze and co don't drop the likes Ikwerre would be loss of Obiigbo, Egbema and possibly Enuani as well. And of course, it's obvious Ikwerres and co can only become more Igbophobic the more crude oil becomes useless and it dawned on them they have only ben left worst off. It's baffling how dense and politically blind these people are to see the writing on the wall. |

FreeIgbos: @igboid @owobokiri
You both are right in your assertions, the difference in your argument can be likened to 6 and half a dozen. That said, I want to make a point clear. The Ikwerre actually believe that we Igbos have nothing to offer them. In fact, they actually believe that it will pay them more to be hostile to us than to accept us brothers.
These guys are utterly selfish and deluded, they see the larger Igbo nation as a competition they can't afford to deal with but by distancing themselves from us, they will leverage on the national Igbophobic tendencies to rob us, eat their cake and still have it. The height of it was immediately after the war. They not only seized Igbo houses but also seized lands belonging to other Igbos that fled their communities during the war because they were pro Igbo/Biafra. I almost shed tears when I recently watched a documentary by a white man who interviewed this Igbos whose lands ikwerres seized. They told the interviewer that the ikwerres have refused to leave their lands they are now occupying and were threatening to fight them using state power and all. When the ikwerres were interviewed, they claimed those that fled should return to the East Central state. Remember, this was when the oil industry was picking up, so while money was flowing from the oil industry, Igbos in the East Central state were still very broke, and ... Owobokiri cannot be correct if I'm correct. Of course the Ikwerre is banking on the Igbo emotional attachment to remain in business. The know the foolish Igbo residents in Rivers State will keep voting them in elections on the altar of non existent brotherhood that the Ikwerres don't recognize. We are indeed very poor at this game of politics. They harvest the Nigerian Igbophobic Agenda to stay in business, and when convenient they claim Igbo to get whatever crumbs Igbo have and to get Igbo support against their fellow Igbophobic non Igboid Rivers neighbors, because they know that Igbos are stupid when it comes to political manipulation. They even say this openly in their groups, that the Igbos are stupid and that they can be Igbo whenever they want and achieve whatever they want. They can be Igbophobic and kill Igbos and you will still have the likes of Owobokiri, Nnamdi Kanu and the incompetent Ohanaeze calling them brothers. You think the likes of Uche Okwukwu and other Ikwerre moles in Ohanaeze Ndiigbo are not working hand in hand with Ogbakor Ikwerre and Wike? Sometimes I get baffled how we became this slow. When we become serious as a people, we know the right thing to do. All we need to end this nonsense is to solidify the line between Igbo and Ikwerre and totally relate with them as any non Igbo minorities. This would see us expel the moles amongst them in our Ohanaeze Ime-Obi. I will continue saying it until people grow sense. Now IPOB are seeing Wike as an enemy, claiming they will deal with him after he left office. They want to pretend like Wike isn't just the same as majority of Ikwerre people back home. When they were busy hobnobbing with Wike , I was here too advising on caution, reminding them that Wike is still an Ikwerre man and that majority of these people are Igbophobic. https://www.nairaland.com/4232285/wike-secondus-vs-yoruba-pdpSo what's next when they are done with Wike? They would deal with the rest of Igbophobic Ikwerre people back home too? Are the Ikwerres really worth it? When are we going to grow up as a people? Listen, no matter how strong you are, you can't hold unto a hand that will not hold unto you. At a point you have to realize that you are disspating energy and let go. You don't need to tell me. I experienced it first hand in Kano from two Ogonis more than a decade ago! Story for another day.. Where I have always disagreed with you is on the source of these mega hate, how to contain or deal with it and how to calibrate a powerful state in the midst of all these cacophony of noises, going forward.
You want the Igbo to retract his steps, shrink in and turn inwards.. I disagree. Taking into cognizance the chances of utilizing the influences coming with having those willing to associate with the Igbos amongst these groups, I believe that we have to be fluid, dynamic and less stiff about things... It's communities and societies we are talking about not individual relationships... Nobody is playing ostrich but if you recoil at the sight of every problem and obstacle, how do you win? Sometimes in life, to move forward, you need to take a step back. In Igbo we say: Ebule laa azu, onwere mpi bia ogu! Think about it. Cutting off these minorities who are currently nothing but liabilities to us,might on the long run do us a whole world of good. Many times, humans are better appreciated in our absence (death). It asserted that Edos had more to fear from Igbo than Yoruba domination, and that creation of a Midwest region would expose Edos to Igbo domination. Lol! Above is an excerpt from Willink report on Western minorities. 51years later and nothing has changed. Shadowy people went on telling minorities to reject Midwest because Igbos(Anioma) would dominate them there should they leave western region. Today, shadowy people who would never reveal their ethnic group even on NL, go about opening countless threads about how Igbos would marginalize minorities in Biafra, should they leave NIGERIA. gidgiddy: Two questions
1) What percentage of tax do Northern farmers pay to the national coffers? Is it in the millions of dollers?
2) Do the Northerners give anyone food for free? Everybody still has to buy the food from them with their hard earned money? In other words, agriculture is just another business and they are doing nobody any special favours. Anybody with money can buy food from anywhere in the world. I have eaten foreign rice from Japan, I have eaten Tomato from Italy, I have eaten vegetables from Ethiopia, so I know that food is more about if you have money to buy
Can the North ever claim they have contributed more to the national purse than the South, in the history of Nigeria?
If not, this thread is useless If you know how much of our common wealth the FG use to subsidize agriculture in the North in the name of irrigation schemes, free improved seeds, subsidized fertilizer, soft loans that they never repay, etc. You would know that their agriculture is scam and cannot survive without funds from petrol Dollars pumped into it. You can see he is already crying about hunger should petrol Dollars money be cut off from them. |
