bossinie: chivic123:Who said the police, immigration and gtbank folks involved are true members of those organizations Do people know their names and other details or have their pictures to assist in fishing them out? Possible that he just got some folks off the street and paid them for the job! |
If your plan for Canada is legitimate, you have a couple of options to follow: (1) Visit and review http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp to see which option is best for you. (2) Post your questions here and I am pretty sure you will get answers, people are willing to help. (3) Contact Canadian embassy in Nigeria to verify whatever information or response you get here and for further clarification. Beyond the above, you will surely end up along the path of deceit. Wish you guys luck. |
mariofemi:Thanks for finally agreeing to what we already know; unfortunately, the deed is done and we are hoping the victims can get their international passports back. However, you were off-point in your write up and I am not convinced you have learnt much from this experience. Here are my reasons; - Your opening statement should have been an apology otherwise you need to go back and read your first couple of posts on this issue. - The argument/ disagreement would have prevented the participation by some other persons if they had listened and if some of you did not seriously defend this scam. - Stop saying it is worth the risk, rather, spread the message that people should do better risk analysis next time and not be swayed by modern day advertisement such as was provided by Fred/CS. - Spread the message that there is a peril in the way of short cuts and encourage people to prepare to work for success. With the history of 419 in Nigeria and past performances of the key actors, going as far as using the IGP's office and the defence headquarter, people need serious education that if it is too good to be true, it definitely cannot be true. - Finally, you should slow down some bit because you appear too trusting. Stay away from Ronke and work with the other victims to resolve the passport issue, it is possible she knows more than you think and may be the "eye" of Fred/CS as this season 2 unfolds. Wish you guys luck. |
mariofemi:Any reason it can't be revealed here right now? It is weekend and nothing can happen officially between now and 6am on Monday. Hopefully, the victims can get there passports back, cut their losses and move on with the pieces of their lives. Also hoping there will be no further scam by demanding for money before the passports are handed back. It's a pity the victims don't know how to fight this yet! |
longecity:Ok, we got here same day but I used KLM, was wondering how many Nigerians you have met in less than 2 weeks of your arrival to have warranted your comment above. Anyway, you now have the opportunity to be the change you desire to see. I am not a student but will try contact you, where is your school here and what's your course of study? Ciao! |
NRI PRIEST:Yep, saw her post and it is sad, really sad. I did propose an option in another write up up there - separation, she need to stay away to save her life and until the husband comes to his senses. |
Some of the responses here does show that this problem will be with us for a long while, a job or "secret' personal properties does not offer any exemption from beating, in fact, those can only offer false sense of hope and confidence that could lead to further beating. There are many working women in abusive marriages living and hoping for a change, the banker woman that was stabbed to death recently had a job and was even financing the management of her home! It is also not a cultural thing as men generally seek to dominate a weaker being (man or woman), it is worse in some other societies where the men would rather kill the wife because it is an easier route than beating or divorcing the woman. Are we raising our kids such that they will respect their spouses when they eventually get married? Do we have good understanding of marriage before jumping into it? What is the success plan for each individual in the marriage? Marriage, like other endeavors, is not easy and can only end well if people understand how to succeed. It does require a lot of work and sacrifices which is why women are often encourage to endure! And if you believe in the bible, then divorce cannot be an option when faced with a violent spouse, maybe separation until whenever the issues can be resolved (otherwise you stay separated). On another note, I am sure there are women battering their husbands too but probably wont be in the news because of the shame that could accompany such news. |
NRI PRIEST:How does killing the man solve the problem? |
justwise:I don't expect answers but who knows! |
Cipriani:You shouldn't get angry that easily, it is not healthy. |
Cipriani:Seriously, I think you should refrain from making further comments because I am sure you are the only one that agrees with your reasoning. Btw, my response of August 6th is reproduced below and please pay attention to the portion in bold. igbonla: |
Good to know that there is some closure coming to this stupidity that could have been prevented if people would listen. The quest for sudden success blinded them all making it difficult for their brains to function as designed; relying on taking some useless risks and believing their gods will make it happen has led them to the expected end. What a shame! Where is the fool asking us to prove this is a scam and requesting to see the results of our investigations? Where are the other fools that registered solely to defend this obvious scam? Where are those other fools that refused to heed the warnings despite several abuses targeted at those they should be praising? Who is the fool expecting government to prevent this kind of scam despite all help here, and when government is yet to find solutions to bigger problems facing the nation? And where are the fools waiting to be the next victims of some other kinds of scams? If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is not probably a duck but a duck. Hoping someone somewhere will understand that if it is too good to be true then it cannot be true. |
ogundokun: ogundokun:How was the promise by GTBank made? Do you have proof or you relied on the dummy sold to you by those criminals? |
justunde:No, it is not only God that knows if this is a scam or not! And please stop talking about taking some dumb risk! This is the reason too many of you guys remain where you are. God has given you brains, if only people will use 5% of this brain to discern that this can only be a scam. Taking risk does take into consideration the success rate of a venture not just some silly "exit from the plane without any training and the use of parachute". |
Very very difficult for an informed mind not to identify there is a problem with this scheme, people have written about taking risks here but refused to add that it must be informed and calculated risk so they don't get their fingers burnt. It is getting tiresome working on young people of nowadays and teaching them that there is no shortcut to success; often times you want to give up and leave them to their fate but for the "inner fight" that is so disturbing and uncomfortable to deal with. Whatever category the crystal services people belong, there is no way the Canadian goverment is allowing shipping of even 1,000 Nigerians to Manitoba or wherever. The visas issued under the skilled worker program at the CHC Accra does not go beyond 800 every year and this is inclusive of dependents. Not sure under what category the crystal people falls. The Manitoba PNP does not seem to fit what has been listed by crystal services but the last straw for me is the hospitals to do the medical - St Nicholas in Lagos and National Hospital in Abuja! Any medical for any trip whatsover to Canada (whether the visa is issued in Lagos or Accra) must be conducted in Lagos either with Asaju or Yaba clinic and in Abuja with Zankli clinic. This is not negotiable and anything contrary to this will definitely be a red flag. Watching to see how this event will end, |
@ Brabus, I like the fact that you have conditions of contract, no doubt it can be improved upon. The challenge will be sticking to those conditions, always a big issue for both parties in this part of the world. Good luck! |
Hotie Tima:What would you rather dig for, bronze or silver? Dig for the best if you are going to dig at all, digging is hard labor! Money that runs out is no money at all and the heart can be shared or closed out. Go ask those women in a polygamous homes; if you are gonna eat frog, better eat one with eggs inside! |
Toaskarity:Pretty sure you did not see it and you should be educated enough to know that the portion you quoted was a general advice to all readers and not directed at the poster. |
Inaccurate information and dangers of a single side story! What do you expect when people don't prepare for interviews and some probably has forged documentation to support their applications? In all the years I appeared at the US embassy in Lagos, I can safely conclude that most of the interviewers are quite generous, 3 examples worth sharing: Case 1: A guy carelessly boasted that his wife had their last baby in the US just to convince the interviewer that he has been traveling quite some bit, then he got stuck at the point of showing proof of payment for the childbirth since neither himself or the wife was a US resident or citizen. He was viciously denied for abusing US medicare system. Case 2: An unmarried lady came for dropbox interview (back then) and was feeling fly about getting the visa but could not convince the interviewer that she will not stay put in the US though she returned the first time. No ongoing schooling in Nigeria, no property, nothing whatsoever. Case 3: A guy was going to attend a conference and had paid some miserable amount of money for it (like <$1,000), then he got challenged on supporting his participation with his past activities in Nigeria. This guy struggled and sweated so much but didn't have any explanation, felt pretty embarrassed at his folly as a fellow Nigerian. If you are confident of your case, there is no way you can be treated like trash (Asian woman or no Asian woman). You can politely challenge the interviewer and that is the confidence lacking in most people; negotiating from a position of weakness and carrying it on your face is dangerous. I got refused once in 1998 (actually asked to withdraw my application), the interviewer asked why I wasn't married despite my status! I responded questioning him if it was a crime to be unmarried at my age in America, I had been in the US earlier and didn't overstay. I could have refused to withdraw my application and appealed any refusal but I was not so keen on the trip and wasn't ready for any battle. I have never had any refusal since then. At another time, I was interviewed by a very bag (fat) lady at the US embassy in Lagos and was the only person she granted a visa that day till I left, even the security guys rejoiced with me. I never knew the lady was known for such and some folks ahead of me took the "toilet route" (just as narrated by the poster) just to avoid the woman - didn't realize this until after interacting with one of the security folks. Every applicant for non-immigrant visa is viewed as a potential immigrant and the onus is on the applicant to prove otherwise. Bottom line is to get prepared for the interview, do not present documents you cannot defend, talk to those who have been through it and succeeded, be confident, have nice disposition (afterall life wont end soon and your life doesn't depend on the visa) and the interview will be a piece of cake. |

@ poster, I am an apostle of keeping family issues within the family; there is no reason for any confusion. The opinion of others do not count if you are ok with the way you and your hubby live your lives. Let nobody sell you ideas that does not fit your personality so you don't trip and fall. All the best! |
Ignorance is a disease! Unfortunately, the poster cannot be educated on this thread and I don't even have the time. |
Welcome to the world of extreme capitalism! I don't give a hoot what your qualifications are but you can exercise your choice by walking. |
violent:That portion in bold will raise a red flag especially for people with not so strong ties to Nigeria. |
yemigeorge:So you will put my pics on the web if I patronize you |
You had a choice when you knew of her relationship with another guy. You should have a rethink and decide if you want to leave or continue to struggle. My advice - take the path of honor and leave, she's insulted you enough. Stay in and enjoy yourself if this is just a school romance. I believe she's the kind of girl a reasonable man will toss out ASAP so he doesn't go insane. |
Slow down man lest you come out bleeding, there are good women everywhere and you will surely get one if you know what you are doing. Do you have enough time to relate with a girl when you come down to Nigeria? Don't know when last you visited but the parameters have changed, girls want more! Wish you all the best, |
