You can go start a business in Canada, don't have to join the labor market. Whether you will succeed at a business is another story entirely and also dependent on you.

1. It was Christmas and my dad offered us soft drinks, we were so expectant of the fun being our first time of ever touching it. We rushed the crate and quickly opened three bottles, lo and behold, it was tonic fanta! I don't know what kid will drink that. We couldn't tell my dad why we didn't drink it despite our initial enthusiasm.

2. We planned a night party to declare open my dad's new house only for my dad to ask at the zero that "I hope you guys are not planning on bringing girls into this house?" It wasn't funny, we canceled the party and disappeared to avoid being lynched by party hungry friends.

As silly as this may sound and despite the different opinions that may exist, the success of marriage is dependent on the woman. This is debatable but is my opinion, it is important to critically look at the lives of Adam and Eve and examine why God brought about Eve at all. It was for completeness, stability and to ensure the fulfilment of God's plans.

The fast food mentality is destroying many homes, women of old endured a lot and most reaped bountifully. Why are things so different these days?

That said, I must confess any man could be like the husband, difficult to give good opinion here without input from the man. I just love the fact that he refused to agree to a divorce, that is a responsible decision, QED. This is where the wife need to calm down and get herself and the baby back to Nigeria ASAP. The guy works in a bank, now is not a very good time for him to relocate to Canada except if something is immediately available for him. The ego thing is real and women can go on saying whatever they like.
And how is divorce a solution? Like the next guy will be better! The solution is to move back and claim the man, he can't refuse divorce and shove you out. I think you should discontinue this thread until you move back and provide us with an update.

That you are contemplating divorce behind is back says a lot about you! Marriage is what you make of it, unfortunately your choice appears to be Canada not your husband. Forget about his initial agreement to join you, I am a naija man and will not join any woman anywhere except if it is what I really want to do.

I wish you luck but be ready for the consequences of your actions and inactions.

Marriage is not for everybody, it is one of life most challenging situations requiring lots of patience that is lacking in these days of fast food mentality.
It make sense to remain single than marry any man with both being miserable till the end.

Yes I do have some friends in Canada, one of them have agreed already to accomodate me for a short period and to assist in putting me through for the first few weeks. Anyway, my plan is to spend just 3 weeks and return to the UK after which I'll be looking for job through websites. I am planning to travel around august/sept so i'll keep you informed so you can give me those websites as soon as i'm ready.

You have good plans and look good to go especially with support from friends. My accountant is a hardworking naija dude and is not doing badly in his private practice. The date of your finally move is dependent on you as you should get a job pretty fast especially with your UK exposure.
Leave a note here if you still need info beyond what your friends can volunteer; my family lives in the city above Toronto.

Life can be a b*tch. I had been in a horrible relationship about 2 years ago that took me a while to get over. Now i am in a relationship that is going really well and i am happy. But it seems like all my previous toasters have come back with a bang. My boo has been away for two week and they are really good guys, three of them to be exact, focused, affectionate and ambitious. Not sure you have found your partner, some advice you can consider:
(1) You should be focused on getting back up since you just lost your job.
(2) It becomes dangerous when bidding wars with other men is in the open. Why would a serious woman be threatening you with the other guys waiting to take her if you slack
(3) You can be caring and loving but still be in charge of your relationship.
