222Martins: Seriously i thought you were a broker because you are giving exactly the type of crap advice most brokers give. Secondly, judging by the type of advice you gave, I am really contemplating between you and I who is really an investor. First you advised people to invest only in blue chip stocks, next you tell them to invest with greed.........I think you take too much advice from your broker or you are simply a gambler that thrives on luck.Ok dude, I am replying you so all of us can learn. The advice wont be crap if you loosen up some bit, I can see you are lost on some part of my comments and I will help you here. I wrote "For the short term, all you need is greed analysis" not invest with greed like you twisted it. You would understand that part of my comment if you were an investor in the capital market anywhere in the world. Better you ask if you do not understand but I think the guy that wrote about robbing Peter to pay Paul have an idea what this is all about. You may want to educate us if there is something wrong with investing in blue chips coy for the long term, would be nice to know. Actually, I do engage my broker a lot. I pay him well to manage my funds and give me results. Gambler thriving on luck?? Boy, you are a true Nigerian and I wish you well. Let's go prepare for tomorrow's market, there's money to be made. |
222Martins: This piece of advice have sent millions of people to financial graves. Are you a broker? I ask because you sound like oneReally?? It must be a miracle that I am still alive then, thanks to God. Wish I were a broker, I haven't done badly with the little I know and have done working with my broker since 2002. Sadly, I cannot share my portfolio with you to validate the formula I gave in my earlier post. On the other hand, it does not appear that you are an investor and probably have no clue as to how the Nigerian capital market operates. |
Has anybody contacted NL Lawyer as earlier mentioned? |
soldierAnt: Once you have identified a particular fund of interest, how do you go about purchasing units and basically, conducting the businessContact the institution selling the product to find out how to subscribe. And why would anybody want to invest in mutual funds? |
Seun: I know the basic principles of stock valuation. I have a copy of Ben Graham's stock aalysis book, The Intelligent Investor, and another one on company valuation. But I find financial statements to be extremely boring, so I have never actually completed the process of analyzing any stock. Ben Graham used to analyze stocks with his students during class, and many of them made a lot of money by investing on the basis of his analysis. I wish a good stock analyst would create a stock analysis thread here on Nairaland so we can learn & practice it together. As far as Nigeria is concerned and for long term investment, you are better off investing in only blue chips company, just buy immediately the dividends are paid and the prices drop. For the short term, all you need is greed analysis and you will make money like you've been blessed by babalawo! This is the simplest way I know. Maybe stock analysis/valuation is working for some people but I never worry myself with such. |
Men can make rules all they want, women knows how to have their ways almost all the time. This newly wed should learn quickly and see if the so called caveman will not collapse the rooms into one. Same way Eve got Adam to eat the apple! I respect women. |
chaircover: If something as simple as that is enough to make them get a divorce, then they had no biz getting married in the first place. . . . .The sad thing is that no one needs to use tube toothpaste these days, so if tube is causing trouble, they can always go for push up toothpastes . . problem solvedGood idea or I bring my own toothpaste from my bag! Dunno why people get into all these unnecessary fights, life is hard enough making money.. |
aadetoyin:Now I can tell you are married! My comment was never meant to be an insult, I preach peace but it doesn't stop me from teasing. Crux of my message - Problem resolution is not necessarily dependent on where you sleep, your level of maturity determines how/when you handle issues. |
spyder880: I have been taking things easy in this property investment partnership so we can think things through as to arrive at better decisions. Matters concerning money and involves a lot of people should be handled with tact and wisdom.I think you just killed your own idea, at least what you set out to sell to would be investors. I understand the cost part but thought you had things figured out when you did the polling? Don't see how you can start next week except if you've gotten investors that have completed their due diligence and are interested only in the Eastern part where you are located. I was following this thread with great interest, which heightened when I read that you like sticking to plans; Since this idea is still being worked out, I suggest you reduce the number of subscribers (N10M is not such a big amount) to enable easier and faster discussions/agreement so you can birth this idea. |
jites: moreeeeee pictures from Ussyman, Thanks Ussyman for sharing these lovely pictures with us.Don't mean to be a spoiler but this is not a good pen for the birds, at best, you will get 1 or 2 years of good/average performance from the birds before the bacteria load and stress from the environment become too much for the birds. A good pen must have the 4 sides free of obstruction like a wall blocking an entire side of the pen, the wall disrupts good airflow necessary to keep birds healthy. The pen is best used as a brooding house. Doing it right the first time has lots of benefits.. |
ussyman: Omotiti I wish all the best and am really encourage. Just keep us posted.I would say don't go any where apart from Ajanla farms! There are lots of them now, you should interview people that buys from the hatcheries regularly not the one off folks. Some of the diseases are death sentences once the chicks have them (e.g. Marek). Good home work is required.. |
blink182: if you no wan do, go sleep make interested people fit hustle. You should slow down and allow free flow of opinions. I have same objection as some of the folks here; while understanding the making money part, some people have grown to higher level of responsibility to look beyond monetary gains in business ideas. You need to read up on damages to the environment through tree felling. I had to get the police involved to chase those excavating sand from my land but not after they have destroyed about 2-3 acres of the land digging up to 5-6 feet deep. Those felling the trees are worse, they show up when I am not there causing me to spend money on policing the land. It is ok to support those planning on planting Moringa but with POB of 250 planned for the expansion, this madam look set to to remove all the trees from Ilorin to Ibadan in a short time! |
This JTF personnel is really dumb..BH sect are not just resilient warriors, they are suicide bombers! How easy is it to defeat somebody willing to die?? You guys should go fix the problem, you have been living on my taxes for long! |

So obvious you are not married! You can sleep on the same bed every night and not talk for days! aadetoyin: Its a NO for me. I need to cuddle up with hubby every night so I would never think of seperate rooms. |

Miss Ope: Another Major reason dat is responsible for high level of 30+ single ladies in Nigeria is this - CURSE/ BEING UNLUCKYThat's your assessment, she may have attributes that no guy wants to deal with. |
From some of the postings here, it is pretty obvious many people need to go get education on buying shares either for short or long term. |
excelsiorfarm: About the issue of the market being half due to religion,am a christian and i dont eat pigs, snails, fresh catfish but b4 you start getting ideas, i dont eat amala, ewedu, moinmoin to mention a few.As i have mentioned in a post previously if you have good products people will come, i had sold juveniles in lagos for N45 and N55 b4 in lagos because i had raised them to a size that i can guarantee that at the time of harvest you will get at least 93% alive. Many are calling or sending mails that they have 100k,200k,500k,700k etc to invest for 1 business or the other and none can say i had collected any consultancy fee from them.Though if you now ask for a business plan or possible feasibility study, any of my manual, wont it be right to pay me?That young man that got the future awards in agric said he is into piggery and according to him even as an engineer he saw people including muslims rearing it and bringing to the south east to sell,he started with i think 20 pigs and after 3 years they had grown to 500. For your market get good product, be innovative in your marketing(no one knew someday liquid milk can be sold in satchet or even toothpaspe).Dont go and look for market where your product isnt needed. It will definitely be right that you get paid for your services, I was only trying to help you clarify that. Nobody should work for free except for volunteer jobs. My suggestion on marketing was also to get some attention to a critical part of all businesses. If you grow vegetables and cannot sell to make profit, na wahala be dat. Anyways..nice thread. |
One of the big four with no selection policy? And you believed the applicant? Do job adverts leave out required class of degree or the company decided to change the goal post during the game? It does appear that the applicant failed the selection process and had to come up with some silly story to cover up. |
excelsiorfarm: @igbonla i said all d hype about raising snails & in 3months be millionaire is false, ask those in snailery, though their feeds is cheap & also vegetables, but snails are more delicate than pigs,a single bite of an insect eg termite on şnail is d end of that snail, just to mention one,d best bet get your snails from d villagers that get it from d forest, buy from those that produce.Do your survey/research,pls come back & postOk, don't lose me now. I never heard about raising snails in 3 months and be a millionaire (or is that some kind of GSM promo?). African giant snails will definitely require 12 to 18 months to reach maturity. Keeping insects and other predators away from snails is an important part of its management. Pig rearing has its own challenges, the last bout of African swine fever affected more than the pigs! Pig consumption is not as high as other product, religion has halved the population of consumers. Every business have their threats and dealing with living animals is the worst kind of business simply because they can die without announcement and at a huge loss to the owner! Having said that, the threats should not be an excuse to run away from any of these ideas including snail rearing. Like I wrote earlier, this is a nice thread and I just wanted to expand the scope of the discuss. You should talk more about marketing if you want to increase your followership except if you are keeping that part as a fee charging consultancy business. |
excelsiorfarm: But i know pig farming is like ATM Machine, when u do it right.i have heard many analysis like do snail farming & be a millionaire in 3months,sorry to say is aint true,i have done it b4 in lagos, even imported edible breeds from ghana which are bigger, grow faster & more prolific i.e produces more children(lay man's term),B4 i started catfish hatcheryNice thread but what is the issue with the snails? From all parameters, it does look like snail farming should be more profitable than pig farming. What was your experience and how is pig farming more profitable? Can you explain and probably show some cost analysis? Best regards.. |
Educative thread! God bless you guys for your contributions.. @aribisala0, I think those "Odus" are better written in Yoruba language instead of English; the only exception would be when you are giving clarifications or teaching kids, uninitiated or non-natives. |
He should not take the job and should not have looked for one in the first place..he has something I would pay so much to acquire. He should stick to using his skills, mind his business and stay away from building somebody's future. He has a foundation to build on, now is the time to learn how to build himself up and get noticed. Earning NGN250,000 per job is not a joke for a starter, even if it is not regular YET. It can only get better as long as he is WILLING to work at it. You claimed the guy is intelligent and hardworking?? Tell him not to take any job even if it pays NGN150,000/month, I would pay this guy not to take the job. |
Another year after chaircover's post and the place is still the way it has always been! Having done an aggressive review of the situation on ground, I can safely conclude that Ibadan property market/development is in a pathetic state. The government lacks focus in urban planning and management, there is no control whatsoever and everywhere is ending up as slums. There is also no support for private developers for estate developments even when you want to use funds from the private sector. Almost all the local government chairmen lacks the vision to drive growth. All the above contributes to the unreasonable high prices of propoerties in the town, with everywhere getting more and more congested. Hopefully, this situation can still be salvaged with the planned phased construction of the circular road. The governor need to sit up and provide visionary leadership. |
Oshiomole is very correct but he should have added that the visions of Lagos and Edo states are not the same. No pun intended but Edo is still kinda rural with fewer vehicles plying the roads! Nobody builds a megacity with okada as a preferred means of transportation, I appreciate Fashola discussing plans and options for the "retired" okada riders, it is up to them to explore those opportunities. The emotional reaction is understandable but we all deserve a decent society. |
The portion of Alalubosa through the road by the museum is referred to as the "New" while you enter the "Old" just after the rail line when you are coming from Dugbe-Apata-Abeokuta road. I know the two are the same but the new has been cut off the old by some silly allocation of the link road for residential development. I plan on talking to you at some point in case you have something I am interested in or I will send you my email address and the areas I am interested in so you could provide me with what you have. |
Is this at the old or new Alalubosa GRA? |
