the dispicable and condemnable thing those people did to Deborah, they would do to a Northern. As a matter of fact, Deborah was a core Northerner, though a Christian. So that issue was purely a religious one and had nothing to do with tribe.

We are united not just because of religious... average Fulani Christian,Hausa Christian and other northern Christian feel more carried along in the north than in the south!!

We have large number of Christians in Borno,yobe,Gombe,kebbi, and other northern States. Northern Christians speak Hausa, dress in kaftans, eat northern food, we share same culture and values!!

The only difference is that they are Christans who go to Church! Most of them even answer indigenous northern names!

Kanuri see a Hausa man as his brother...

Zuru see see a Bura as a brother, kanakuris see Nupe sas brother!! And so on and on!

A bura from Borno can be a governor in Kano (In the case of shekarau)

Fulani, Hausa, kanuri,nupe,bura,zuru can rule in any part of the north as long as he has the public appeal by playing his politics right!!

as a Southerner living in the North, I agree with most of what you have said. I am however of the opinion that the Fulani Jihad that occured just before Western colonization is mostly responsible for the political unity of the North. Politically, colonization came at the right time for the North.

On tribalism, you are spot on. The Northerners are by far more accommodating than the other major tribes and do not mind people of other tribes being their next door neighbour. The Igbos are the most tribalistic Nigerians, but they don't know it. I used to think it was the Yorubas, but Yorubas are just scared of other people(maybe timid or distrustful) but the Igbos have a derogatory view of people that are not like them. It shows in the fact that Igboland is the least diverse part of the entire country.

Most of the defunct Biafra is in the Igbo
language speaking region of Nigeria with other minority tribes in today's South South region. Today, it is the Igbos of the South East that are far more desirous of an independent Biafra state. But the precolonial history of these people make me feel like a Biafra state is not achievable


Now, the one Igbo ethnic identity we have today is not real, it is a pseudo-nation just like Nigeria and indeed most African countries are pseudo-nations. There was nothing like Igbo nation before colonialism as the Igbos were organized into numerous clans that fought, killed and sold themselves. The region was so toxic in those times that the Igbos account for a very high percentage of people sold as slaves during the slave trade era.

Igbos have never been united in their history and it is their greatest undoing. For example, unlike in Yorubaland where Bola Tinubu, an Osun man could become Lagos governor and control the economy of Lagos state for over two decades because to them what matters is that he is Yoruba, a governor of Abia state once sacked Igbos from other states in that state's civil service

When the separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu accuses the white man for creating what he refers to as the contraption called Nigeria, he fails to realize that the Igbo nation in the same vain can be viewed as a western creation. He fails to realize that the same way Nigeria and Africa can hardly progress because of it's faulty foundation is the same way an Igbo nation can hardly thrive because of it's unnatural founding.

IPob for all it's popularity will eventually degenerate to a clannish rivalry in Igboland and it ia already happening.

That is not true. It is mischevious and wicked to say that SE people behaved like the north. First of all no one said an attack on IPOB is an attack on the south east. We know that IPOB struggle has been clandestinely hijacked by some criminal elements such that anything as trivial as a pick pocket incidence in the region is tagged as IPOB and the sad part is that it is the security agencies that are doing this out of convenience because it is the easiest suspect they can pin it on to prevent them from doing real police work. The same IPOB has repeatedly denied their involvement and even the enforcement of sit at home on Mondays.

Then who is enforcing sit at home? Who is Simon Ekpa and how did he become relevant? The cascade of events all go back to Nnamdi Kanu
