1stGenAmerican: I’m also had a hard time making heads or tails of it so I’m eager to hear the explanation. Maybe the pictures were funny and good for sensationalism but there was nothing of value since Hunter Biden isn’t an elected official, he isn’t running for any office to represent anyone, he doesn’t talk non-stop about Family Values, nor was he arrested asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle heavy enough to kill multiple people when operated carelessly under the influence of drugs like crack and fentanyl.
Like everything else you posted, it never seems like there is anything deeper beyond the initial façade. They yell Hunter Biden, but I'm not even sure they can vocalize why. George Santos is a perfect encapsulation of the modern Republican Party and their supporters. A façade. A bad one at that.
feedthenation: BREAKING: Special Counsel Jack Smith subpoenaed the Trump Org for documents related to real estate deals in CHINA, FRANCE, TURKEY, SAUDI ARABIA, KUWAIT, UAE, and OMAN since he took office.
This has to be in relation to the classified documents he took when he left office. Bonkers. One theory he must be pursuing is that Trump took these classified documents to aid him in his business dealings.
creeper1: Lol, not with Americans still taking a shit outside in pit and bathing outdoors with buckets in the 21st century.
I don’t even want to talk about all the millions of homeless people, drug addicts, destitute and level of poverty in America. America needs to fix home and stop being a global bully that loves picking on defenceless countries. That’s the truth.
Enjoy your day.
This post is just nonsense. Maybe visit the US first before writing such nonsense.
Bossly: Another USELESS republican busted. That's how they all are...
DEGENERATE losers! 🤮
I'm having a hard time understanding this post. Are you saying Hunter Biden is analogous to an elected official who was also the head of his City's GOP (a party which claims to be the Family Values party) who was caught with cocaine and fentanyl?
Please explain to me like I'm a 5 year old why it is analogous.
Been thinking about these debt limit negotiations. The Republicans are holding the US if not global economy hostage, while the Democrats are too weak willed to just say no and evoke the 14th amendment. The 14th amendment seems clear enough.
14th Amendment Section 4. The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. ...
Republicans are out there making up laws and the ones that are actually in the constitution the Dems are too scared to fight for. Anyhow, heading to Napa so going to be in a wine stupor for the weekend.
I see a lot of it in this thread as well. Which is still surprising given most of the posters have black skin. Pro-Trump pastors rebuked for ‘overt embrace of white Christian nationalism’
shegzhkn: Why Mexicans are moving to the US - economics (people prioritize their economic interest) and just because you saw places that are 'okay' does not mean everywhere is okay. Japan is an advanced economy and alot of japanese are migrating to the US - economics too. Money runs Uncle Sam, the citizens are moving to Mexico for different reasons - affordable health care, running from gun violence, or even economics (geoarbitrage), what have you.
Seems like you've thought some about this. I like the term geo-arbitrage. You are right, I can't be sure everywhere is ok. I'm usually in the more resort-y areas. But given what I saw in terms of the infrastructure even in the no so good areas I visited, I assume the level of infrastructure is more less the same for the rest of the country. And that in itself changes my view. Why should Mexico who has clearly better infrastructure and maybe more opportunities than Nigeria have easier access to the US immigration system unless the argument is being a regional/neighbor support. If it largely due to geo-arbitrage I definitely think our immigration policies aren't equitable and new policies should be.
I fortunately got to spend some more time in Mexico this past weekend. It got me thinking of the migrant issues we are currently having and how I had viewed Mexico.
I was at a wedding in San Miguel de Allende. San Miquel is beautiful (old world meets new) and a US tourist destination. Though it's not my first time in Mexico, the g/f likes to do more of the local stuff (fortunately she is fluent in Spanish). We had time between the wedding events so we hired a tour guide and went outside the city.
The places we ended up going to were more "authentic" and not as wealthy as St. Miquel. But just getting to those places I was surprised by the level of development. There had well developed infrastructure, i.e roads, electrical grids, transportation and water delivery. Was frustrated thinking where Nigeria is in comparison. And somewhat embarrassed about what I previously thought.
But it got me thinking about why people were migrating from Mexico and maybe I fully didn't understand it. It also made me realize that my view of Mexico had been colored by the US media's coverage largely based on political machinations. As it was surprising that I met a lot of Americans who had moved to Mexico.
In terms of politics, the next election may turn on Immigration. I wish we could have a more nuanced discussion of it. And I think part of that is the media doing a better job of informing Americans about Mexico and other places, not just putting the killings and drugs on a loop.
This is a good piece. I wasn't aware the network news treated McCarthy this way. On that I'll revise my previous view and say that CNN shouldn't have given Trump the platform even though he was a declared candidate.
“Be truthful, but not neutral,” Amanpour urged. “Bothsidesism is not always objectivity. It does not get you to the truth. Drawing false moral or factual equivalence is neither objective or truthful. Objectivity is our golden rule and it is in weighing all the sides and hearing all the evidence, but not rushing to equate them when there is no equating.”
SlyFoxx447: It’s signs of megalomania bro. Read it up. When a person is so convinced in their warped and distorted mind that they are bigger than everyone else that they reject glaring evidence to the contrary when they see it with their own eyes. It’s actually a kind of mental disease. People like that can lie to themselves and actually believe their own lies.
Do tell Femi. The hilarity of this statement. Holy lack of self awareness.
But it gives you sleepless night that I am in the US right? You can't believe it. You along with the big head who can't afford to buy ticket back to Nigeria
See the white paper on the window? See it when j get closer
I hope you don't take your own life because of this
Stop lying to yourself. You are not in the US. I see you used the time while you were banned to make up more lies. Your story is nonsense and whatever phony pics you post won't change that.
benalvino3: Lol, more lies from a token. But there you are, a guy who is so passionate about a forum with bunch of anons.
Are you not drinking coke in a hotel bar or a bar lately?
When ibime was bragging on this forum, he was bragging with properties, your case is coke and ribs you eat from one of your alphabet boyfriend.
Heads up. If this one gets ban I will make another. It's as simple as that. Stop wasting your time. Sly and the kokobilo idiot should tell you by now it's a waste of time to get people banned. You won't get it because you got a degree for because of DEI.
This is from the guy who posted pics lying about being in the US? I wonder what 2013 benalvino would think about 2023 benalvino3
benalvino: I have come to realize that religious section of nairaland is another tool the devil is using to sway people away from God... this section is really putting confusion in the mind of people concerning the scriptures. this is a fact i just came to realize...
everyone seem to think he is right... and going through endless debate trying to convince people that their minds are set up just like every other person... this should be the last post from me and I pray that God helps me stay away at least from this forum... all the topics are just repeatation of what was posted long ago so another arguement could be started but will never conclude...
it has come to my senses that most of the things we debate here are not relevant for salvation... trust in the Lord and keep the commandment of God is what will take you to heaven and not 90% of the things we come here to kill our self for...
the friend that ask me to join has long gone... and i think it is time for me to join him... there are better things to do in life than to be here putting confusion inside of people.
benalvino3: Dude stop killing yourself on a forum that has no moderation. It is what it is. I have 3 monikers and they are not useful to me. I don't make money on them so if I got banned I can make a new one.
I don't care about losing them. I don't report people because of that. Try to get sense.
Benalvino 2 was banned permanently the same way benalvino was banner permanently. I told your father to spend more time with his wife rather than be on here 24-7 the ban my account. I used my other one to show them that the mods are wrong they banned that. Do I care? No it's the database that will have many inactive accounts.
This coming from the guy that admits to trying to get people banned. I guess your motto is do I say not as I do. And thanks for letting me that your previous accounts were permanently banned. So every time you post here under a new account, you're in violation of the rules.
benalvino3: He never said that but you are a token tool. You are going to lie for useless reasons
Did you and all your various usernames enjoy your vacation/ban? I would have thought the fresh air would have given you fresh perspective on how/what you post here. I guess not.
This is so very well written, deep and thorough that I basically stood in awe of the writer of this piece in the Federalist!
Amazing!
The level of gas-lighting here. You do know that everyone believes (both Trump and Clinton) that it was FBI Director Comey's letter about the investigation into Clinton so close to the election that cost her the election. Both candidates had FBI investigations, but it was only Clinton's that was publicly known prior to the election. If I were a Republican I would welcome that "pro democrat Fbi corruption" anytime.
Obrigardo: We can all argue and debate endlessly with the Reich wing nuts and their shameless apologists, but one thing is clear! "Conservatism" (White nationalism, christo fascism, Nazism etc) is dying all over the world. And in America, it's already dead. 2024 will be the nail in the coffin and a different movement far different from "conservatism" will emerge.
By the way Laura Ingraham has been sacked by Faux entertainment. 👍
It may be dying, but I think the dangerous part is what is left seems to be more vocal, forceful and unafraid to use violence.
1stGenAmerican: Economic Patriotism. Beautiful point. Much of our military is made up of people straight out of high school, some even enlist and report for boot camp before their senior year. These are the people on the ground defending democracy but the people who benefit from that democracy have a problem with providing free meals while their in school? This makes me think of people who migrate here and immediately look for ways to avoid taxes and also those who live in countries that receive foreign aid from us yearly but criticize the ‘high taxes’, saying it could never be them paying it. Everyone wants to benefit but so many want to benefit while complaining about where the contributions come from.
Yup. The poor fight the wars while the rich benefit from the spoils.... i.e Iraq etc. At least Trump was honest about his disdain.. calling the war dead losers and suckers.
1stGenAmerican: I’m struggling, trying to think about what kind of person would be against this. Pandemic EBT received very little pushback so why this?
I struggle as well. I understand the "financial limitations" push back. I have friends who talk about open borders and free healthcare for even undocumented immigrants. They are living their faith, and to their credit they give chunks of their wealth to do so. But, I see the other side of it where it has to be a balance with the long term economic feasibility of such policies.
But free lunch for every kid who is required to be in school? I think those other arguments should fall to the wayside. In the Pandemic my state did that. And I was happy to hear that and surprised kids still didn't have the ability to get a healthy meal in school.
IMAliyu2: If you agree with the ethicality of providing school kids food.
Then I have no problem with agreeing and disagreeing what are and aren't reasonable demands. Free breakfast and lunch? This seems reasonable. Dinner and snacks? I don't know, school hours don't usually extend long enough to warrant dinner, except maybe I'm wrong here.
Something the lawmakers should be discussing, don't you agree?
There's always taxpayer money for other things like the afghan occupation which costed the US between 100-50 billion annually before leaving, and the current aid to Ukraine estimated to be about 75 billion currently. But when it comes to the topics of programs that aid the American people that would cost a fraction of all that then there's a debt ceiling to consider. Twisted sense of priorities.
Yeah housing costs are going up, how does this relate? School funding being dependant on property taxes has its own issues. But no one is talking about raising property taxes here.
If you've already earned above 10m I doubt an extra 1% tax on earnings above 10m is going to affect your quality of life
Irrelevant to me.
Your argument is basically the slippery slope fallacy.
Or you know, take a fraction of out of the 1 trillion military budget instead.
You seem to not understand, I don't mind paying taxes, and I assume most people as well as long as those taxes go to programs that measurably makes society better, in this case it's providing food for school kids for fck sake.
Communism is when people pay taxes. Big brain stuff right here.
Yes free school lunches and healthcare would be based actually.
Could you give me examples of the said push back?
So your just complaining that taxpayer money will be used to prove free school lunches, cry me a river.
Was going to reply. But you seemed to have covered all the bases.
An aside: I think we as a country need to talk about Economic patriotism as a form of Patriotism. Elizabeth Warren gave a good speech on this. People out of highschool sometimes fight and die for the security and stability that allows someone in the US to be a Billionaire, but asking them to pay more in taxes is a bridge to far? I don't agree.
erad: From my little understanding of this war and war in general, it's safe to say Putin is baiting USA and NATO...
He can as well end the war tomorrow if he wishes, he's only extending it as long as possible to bait NATO into a direct involvement and give them the impression of a weak Russian army that can't even defeat Ukraine.
Ukraine is just unfortunate enough to be the bait in a much bigger scheme.
Where are you getting this nonsense from? Do some research yourself. Google the GDP of US vs Russia. Google the amount of money the US spends on its military vs. Russia. I'll give you a hint the US spends more on its military than the next 10 countries COMBINED, that includes China and Russia. And when you are talking about NATO, you are including countries like UK, Germany and France who spend roughly the same as Russia on their military. The worst thing that could happen to Russia is the US getting involved (that's why they didn't attack Ukraine when Biden was there) which would mean the Full weight of NATO military power getting involved. Russia is losing to a small country with some Western supplied weapons. Putin in all his genius, masterfully showed the world what a true Paper Tiger Russia really is.
budaatum: Funny isn't it. Nigeria, poor as it is, ought to be providing food for its school children but America is bulking at providing for its.
Tax payers should pay for it. 1% tax on annual income over 10m would probably do it. But paying to feed children will increase birthrates, but according to warped minded magas, Democrats can't be having none of that because it reduces profit from abortions.
I think if you did a national referendum, people would be willing to pay extra taxes to give children free food while they are in school. Republican legislators seem to be opposed to it though. Republican's view of Christianity is weird to me.
feedthenation: ---Donald J. Trump doesn't have the balls to sue the FBI or DoJ---he will lose in a big way---
Mueller probe: 34 indictments, multiple felony convictions, within 2 years
Durham probe: 3 indictments, two acquittals at trial, one conviction for a misdemeanor, after 4 years
You're even given him to much credit. The one conviction he received was forwarded from the IG investigation, whose report came to a different conclusion (the FBI was warranted in opening their investigation). In his 4 years he did nothing but bring 2 cases to the Jury which the Jury unanimously said "Nope" to and acquitted. Which is a hard thing to happen to a Federal prosecutor with the power of the Fed government and subpoenas.
But this what Republican Investigations always look like. The goal is just to allude to wrongdoing so the right wing echo chamber can pick it up. There is never any "there" there. Benghazi - 12 Hearings, nada Durham - 4 years, lost 2 cases Biden - Ongoing, Supposedly "Lost" the informant and 9/10 of the witnesses are supposedly in Court or in Jail.
It's a feature not a bug of Republican investigations. It's weaponization of Government for Political ends.
Segun2222: if you argue well with them you'd realise you're talking to one boy in jss3 or ss1, anything that comes from msm that drags the whole usa govt 24/7 is propaganda but they believe anything that comes from Russia media where there's no free speech and the govt is the only media allowed in the country....most Obidients and Russian supporters have something in common... Their views always defy logic and common sense
Would have liked your comment until the last part. I think voting for the Tinubu who represents the status quo and a terrible one for a country in the terrible straits Nigeria is in is stupid.
Masterviolence: You seriously think am a gullible fellow.
I'll continue to school you on this thread till you're lettered enough to know you don't use an alleged claim as facts in a political deliberation. What are your facts that Putin killed his own people to get into power? You can't change the topic of discourse to my personal life, after making a claim that Putin killed his own people to get into power.
We where talking about politics not where i live, you can't escape this.
Come to think of it, Putin was already made prime minister of the Russian federation before the the incident that occured in Moscow (1999). Who was Putin fighting against? Was he fighting against his own people, after been made the prime minister?
My friend you need to set yourself loose from the chains of the MSM. After refuting your claim that Putin killed his own people to get into power, instead of you to come up with definite fact to backup your claims, you resort to calling me a paid Russian propagandist and getting to know where am from.
Let me make something clear to you.
Where an individual lives does not matter. When you've a proper formal and informal education and have had a requisite level experience, it's like moving from darkness to light.
Only you, for reasons unknown to me wants to know where i live. Which i bluntly replied No to.
There's really no need talking to you since all you care about is knowing where i live, and not continuing your initial comments after your disinformation has been contained.
I started this off explaining you to why it was pointless discussing anything with you. You have a myopic view of the world, either by the fact that you're paid to be or that you're insulated. Everything that doesn't align with your views are Fake News and Disinformation. Yet the one credible party happens to be the Russian leader who used to head the KGB (Russian Intelligence Service). Go figure. There are plenty of your type on this forum.
I asked you where you live to understand what guides and influences your views. There's an expression that goes, "You are the sum of your environment and experiences". You don't want to share that environment so we can understand what shapes your viewpoint and what biases you may or may not have.
So, I'll continue to post contrary information to your misinformation when I see fit. You should try to diversify your view points or learn how to evaluate the biases of the things you read.
Masterviolence: If this is what you understand by my statement am okay with it.
What we experience gives us perspective. That's why I try to travel as much as I can so I can get perspective on other peoples/cultures. If you can't even tell us where you live to give us some insight into your how your perspective is shaped, that's telling.
It's a tough case. On one hand don't want to see people scared to stand up when necessary. On the other you can't allow vigilantism esp since the guy hadn't attacked anyone yet. When I wrestled (Roman Greco) choke holds were illegal because you could hurt someone (break a neck). He should have known that given his military training. And he had that choke hold on too long. He could have subdued/held him w/o the choke hold.
