donjazzet:Interesting. I've been struggling with this for awhile as well as I'm more socially conservative for the most part as well. I had a great discussion with one of my boys a week back about this. He grew in the church (parents well known pastors) and heavily involved in the ministry. Lives his life accordingly. When we were younger he made news for his strident anti-homosexual position. He had been struggling with this issue of transgenderism/pronouns esp. in his role in the Church he is in (one of the Church Leaders). Months back he convened our group of friends and wanted our opinions on it. Anyhow he recently changed his view. He was at a friend's house (member of his church) whose child is transgender. They asked him to use the child's preferred pronouns. He was surprised as the couple was fervently against it as recent as a couple of months ago. And they explained that their child had tried to commit suicide 2x because he was struggling with his/her gender. They threw money at it (wealthy family). Best of care, seeing a very good psychiatrist. But he still tried to commit suicide. So, the parents rather than losing their child decided to accept him/her. And my boy said it dawned on him. All this was about Love, how would Jesus love that child? And so, how could he best Love that child and his friends, the child's parent? And if that meant calling the child by his/her pronoun, he was ok with that. I'm not sure I'm there with that. But I understood that perspective. Some of the other questions I haven't put too much thought into. What causes transgenderism? I'm not sure what causes transgenderism. Haven't read much on it. But my untrained senses think part of it is an obsession with defining male/female characteristics. And people who don't fit those "roles" get confused. I also believe some homosexuality is genetic. I've had a couple of friends who I've thought were homosexual as children, come out in their late 20's. Not many were surprised. I'm sure part of that exists with transgenderism as well. There are some people born with both male/female genatilia as well. So.. Should teenage transgenderism surgeries etc. be allowed? I'm all for live and let live. Except when it comes to minors. I don't believe children should be allowed to have "gender affirming surgery". I would say the same as Female genital mutilation practiced in parts of Africa and the world. As to puberty blockers, don't know enough of the side effects, but if they weren't harmful, I wouldn't care. It may be a bridge to allow them to make the decisions themselves when they are of age. At the end of the day there has to be a real balance though between some of this stuff and children committing suicide. Democrats do have a problem though, they have to find a balance between acceptance and being blind to the obvious esp. when it comes to transgender individuals in woman sports. But this is the problem with the Republican party, they are so batshit crazy they are not an alternative. |
This thread. Bombast over brains. It's more nuttier that I could have imagined. Idiots who live in a reality where it rains skittles and streets are made of marshmallows talking about Facts and logic. Really though, what schools let you people walk out with a degree. |
krcboy:Hmm.. If true, that speaks more to Obi Cubana and what info the US Intelligence/CIA has on him. Think about it this way, some countries sell their Visas to high net worth individuals in hopes of economic development. The US had(not sure anymore) programs where you could get a visa/citizenship if you invested in the US. Tourism by high net worth people is a positive. So, Obi Cubana not getting a tourist Visa is more about him. |
Reading the last few pages of this thread is what it must sound like to listen to inmates in a mental asylum talking after having their pudding. Outside of a few posters, that I have to wade through the nonsense to find, there is no intellectual value to me in reading this thread. It has been dominated by nonsensical posts by (excuse my insult) dumb, intellectually incurious and intellectually dishonest posters. It is no surprise that the majority of current posts are by new monikers of repeatedly banned posters who devote their day and nights to dominating this thread (the "time spent online" stat doesn't lie). The moderators have done a disservice to this forum. This mess of crazy will be the outwardly facing representation to any non-Nigerian. Ekemeze you should come back and read the last few pages of posts from what you consider "conservative" and "liberal" posters and tell me again how they are both the same. It's summer and I have better uses of my time. I'll pop in again and see if the moderators are doing their jobs. |
Why not just measure the miles/gallon. Fill the tank. Drive it. Calculate how many miles you drove. Refill it and see how many gallons you used to refill it. Divide the miles you drove by the amount it took to refill it. Will tell you how much gasoline you are using. Also to increase mileage, get a tune up (oil, plugs, air and fuel filter), make sure your tires aren't underinflated and keep a constant speed (braking and then having to accelerate burns fuel). |
goldbim:Less luck and more "a lot of people applying who were never going to get a Visa". I haven't yet met someone who had strong ties to Nigeria, no criminal issues and a good amount of Money in Nigeria who was denied a Visa. |
isArray:If you're already based in Europe there is a strong chance you'll return to Europe. So better chance you'll get a visa. |
MrCuteking:Those fees pay for that person who told you you were denied. It cost money to process the applications. Plus, just see that fee as the initial test. If you can't afford to part with it you were getting rejected anyhow. |
Necessary. Just like the Jan 6th prosecutions made Trump's supporters think twice about repeating the same nonsense at Trump's indictments. This will make lawyers in the future think twice about taking advantage of the legal system. It's amazing that Trump and co. thought they could get away with any of this. Let me take that back, they might have if he had won again.

Timesup2345:Top is you, bottom is me. You've spend roughly 5 times the amount of time I've spent here in roughly the same period. The kicker, this is one of your old profiles timesup234. You probably have 10 user names with equal stats including this one. Easy to talk ish when you make it up innnit?
|
If you wanted to save more money, you could have done all that yourself in one weekend and saved the labor cost. It's a good skill to know. But 20k is a good price for that. |
bemeruca:Shit. Is it that hard to understand the meanings of words before you use them? From envy to minstrel show to coon. Words have fk'ing meanings. You sound stupid as fuk. Buy a dictionary already. At least you partially used the word "token" right. What the fux are they teaching in Nigerian schools? This is a partial meaning of the word coon. Coon-ish behavior originates from Self hate (something you show plenty of in this thread) and a desire to demean other Black people to appease white people. But a coon, as used today, tracks fairly closely with Uncle Tom. I say a coon is a Black person who puts on a specific performance for white people — a performance whereby a Black person says things or performs acts to ingratiate himself or herself in exchange for the social rewards white folk can grant. https://andscape.com/features/what-should-black-folk-do-with-the-word-coon/ |
budaatum:I think we've all normalized this. Can't imagine any other ex-president doing something like this. It's nuts. |
Timesup2345:Mr. Civility. You mean educational purposes like your post below of Biden's grandchildren? Was very informative and mentally stimulating. Thanks for posting. If you missed it, that was sarcasm. Go back to creating usernames, ranting like a lunatic about the US and getting banned. What is with you and your ilk who purportedly hate the US but spend all your time in the US thread talking about the US? You sound like a jilted lover. Timesup2345: |
Timesup2345:Mr. Civility, I'm the wrong person for that nonsense. I'm glad you admit that you are timesup234 and you are using an alternate account to access Nairaland after being banned.. FYI, there is a search bar on the top of this thread. Who would have thunk it can be used to... wait for it.. do searches. Oops, I used it again. I'll leave you with this. Maybe take your own advice. FYi. That took all of 5 minutes to search. Time well spent in my book. opebiboy: drakeli: |
1stGenAmerican:Figured. Makes sense. Mr. Civility has been repeatedly banned for being too Civil I guess. Lol. |
Timesup2345:Mr. Civility, well said. The amount of time Benalvino3 and Basilico spend on this thread fighting and fostering hate, you would wonder if they have personal lives or real friends at all. The stats on all their monikers(both current and banned) here don't lie. Having said that. You're the wrong messenger. Did a quick search of your name here and it seems you're quite proficient at "being a lunatic" as one poster put it, creating new monikers and getting them banned, and spending copious amounts of time on this forum in your emotional dislike of the US and others. Seems you are actually a Legend for "The amount of time and emotions you put into fighting on this forum ". As I said earlier, the one thing people like you are good at is your Shamelessness and/or lack of self awareness. |
Ekemeze:You can miss me with this. You're very good at false equivalizing and both siding. A kitten and a Crocodile can both bite you. Should we treat both equally? This is one of the most consequential periods in US Democracy and the distinction between the two parties are clear. KKK members are literally marching in the streets unhooded. If you can't see the difference you are unwilling to and/or incapable of. A good article: Fact-Checking In The Age Of Trump: Why False Equivalence Is Harming Democracy https://www.wgbh.org/news/commentary/2019/09/18/fact-checking-in-the-age-of-trump-why-false-equivalence-is-harming-democracy And I'm a US Citizen and so are all my siblings, their kids and a lot of my friends. And because I have as much right to the fruits of this country as any white person. And being the person I am, I believe this country belongs to me. So, no, not fighting for any white person, I'm fighting for myself. Lastly, fence straddlers are as equally as bad as the likes of benalvino3 and basilico. If you can't cleary call out the Racism and destructive blatant lies you see here, you're equally culpable. Striving for peace for peace sakes while people are trying to strip Black people of their basic rights TO BE is bullshit. From John Lewis: "...Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble." |
bemeruca:Good example for another Vocab lesson on envy. You have mentioned where I went to school more than I. Probably at a 10:1 ratio. Sounds like you are envious of me. |
bemeruca:I'm allergic to dumb people. More allergic to dumb, lazy people. And even moreso to dumb, lazy self hating black people. You are dumb, lazy and self-hating. So, I'm not having a convo with you about this. You have spent days and days on this thread talking about this topic, yet haven't spent the time it takes to read the book or even understand the topic. I'm not even sure why anyone is engaging you on this topic, besides calling you out on it. |
bemeruca:I excelled because I was considered "Academically Gifted". Everything came easy and I picked up concepts easily. Did some of the staff in my school make it harder, yes? On the non objective stuff or when they could fux with me they did. One experience: I got an A in a Science project that was graded blindly. When the teacher found out it was Me, my grade dropped to a C-. Why? He heard me telling someone I did part of the project in Study Period (time allocated so we can do school work) and not at home. He said it was supposed to be home work. He was white. Could I prove it was Racism? No. But every black kid knew he was racist. That C- dropped that class grade that term from an A(4.0) to a B+(3.3). Which affected my class Rank and GPA. Both which were necessary to apply to College. I tell the story not because I give a fux about your racist self hating self. But, so anyone reading your nonsense can get a better perspective. |
bemeruca:Just wear a fk'ing white hood already so 1.) you'll fit in and 2.) at least the other racists don't think you're black. I live un the US, grew up in the US, went to predominately white schools in the US. A self hating idiot who lives in Nigeria, where he is in the majority, is not going to tell me about my experiences here. I excelled, despite the Racism I experienced. As did my friends. As did any successful black person in the US. You should talk to successful black people and get their experiences so you'll stop sounding so ignorant. Wow bemeruca: |
bemeruca:This is probably the single most disgustingly ignorant statements you have made on this thread. You don't have to say whatever idiotic nonsense comes to your mind. Crack open a f'king US history book for once in your life if you feel the need to discuss US history. |
Timesup2345:Mr. Civil, kindly explain to us why your last moniker was banned. |
budaatum:Not you per se, but it is a slogan for maintaining the status quo. Here is a good piece. https://www.npr.org/sections/codeswitch/2019/03/14/700897826/when-civility-is-used-as-a-cudgel-against-people-of-color I have heated yet civil convos with my friends. But they are intelligent people who read voraciously and make coherent arguments. But the line of civility is drawn when people come for my right to exist. |
budaatum:Disagree. The argument of civility is always made by those in power or privilege to protect the status quo, where incivility will rock their power structure. (Look up "good trouble" ). And the problem with America in this moment is the propaganda and fiction disseminated on the right by people more concerned with making a buck than the tearing away America's fabric. And Liberals are part of that problem. They hew to things like unwritten norms and policies when people like Trump run over them. Look at his most recent rally, the man who got elected by yelling "lock her Up" is complaining about persecution because he was indicted for stealing classified documents. And after the rally, his supporters when asked about Biden, shouted "Lock him up". You can't make it up. While Biden came in and left in place a Trump appointed prosecutor who gave his son a harsher punishment than most anyone else. |
Timesup2345:This was your first post on your new moniker. This is civil discourse right? Edit: You want to know why the US is where it is? Because of shameless people like you who want to gaslight people and live in alternate realities. If you want civility.. be civil. Don't gaslight people into believing you are. |
Timesup2345:Says the moniker that was created a few days ago because the other one was probably banned for doing some of the things preached about in this post. |
raumdeuter:I'm glad you noticed that. That in fact is not the job of the Supreme Court. But that is exactly what they have started doing. I don't want 9 unelected people appointed by life deciding policy that effects me. Their job is to decide whether Congressional laws are constitutional or interpret Congressionally passed laws and defend the Constitution. And I think Congress has to go back to the drawing board and clarify what the Supreme Court is supposed to be doing, how big it is and its ethics. Right now, they have waded into the pool of policy making. And conservatives are always the ones screaming about Textualism and strict constructionism. Who what have thought all that was a ruse to gain power. |
Read some of the testimony of the Hunter Biden whistleblowers. Was curious to see if it was legit. Fortunately and Unfortunately it was a tough week for flying. So read most of whistle blower 2's testimony and the minority lawyers' (Dems) questioning of Whistleblower 1. Some takeaways. 1.) The majority of what the whistleblowers are complaining about happened under Bill Barr and his DOJ. That in itself makes all this sound like nonsense. That fact isn't getting reported by the media. 2.) The investigators wanted to be super aggressive. It seemed as if they wanted the investigation to reach Joe Biden. One of them even said they thought one thing could get Biden. They wanted to be more aggressive than Bill Barr's DOJ. As if Bill Barr's DOJ wasn't slanted already. 3.) The stuff they complained they weren't allowed to do seems silly. -They wanted to surveil Hunter Biden(do "drive by's" by his house) while Joe Biden was the democratic Nominee. That was denied by Bill Barr's DOJ. A drive by for a tax investigation? -They also wanted to question Joe Biden's grand daughter who Hunter paid school fees for. And were denied. Seemed like they were trying to entangle the grandchildren in something. Why couldn't they just ask the school if he really paid the fees? -They also complained that Bill Barr's DOJ stopped overt investigative steps once Joe Biden became the Dem nominee. That seemed to be DOJ policy. They seemed like they were hoping Hunter Biden may lead to Joe so they wanted to vigorously pull every thread. As I said they wanted to be more aggressive than Barr's DOJ. This also seemed to be designed to inject non public investigative info about Hunter Biden into the public sphere. Even in the interview the Whistleblowers kept injecting info that seemed unnecessary. Like Hunter having prostitutes in his Hotel room. etc etc. This was a tax investigation. I'm not even sure how legally they can talk to the media about this stuff as they have been doing. I hope the DOJ is investigating these "whistleblowers". Testimony: https://waysandmeans.house.gov/smith-testimony-of-irs-employees-reveals-biden-irs-doj-interfered-in-tax-investigation-of-hunter-biden-revealing-preferential-treatment-for-wealthy-and-politically-connected/ |
In a very consequential week for US law and politics, two banned accounts are here circle jerking the same nonsense. Welcome to Narailand's American Politics thread. |
raumdeuter:The Federal Government subsidizes a lot of things they think are good for the US. They subsidize Farming, Oil and Gas, Subsidize people getting certain degrees, they have loan forgiveness programs for certain fields, during the pandemic they had PPP loans that were forgiven, the GI Bill etc etc. The question should have been whether Biden had a legal right to do what he did. Not if we agree with his policy preference. The Supreme Court seems to be wading into the latter. |
