Landing gist I travelled to Montreal from Mexico via Air Canada. They have the best plane that I have entered. The screen was large and modern. The food was not free though, you would have to pay with your card. Only the drink was free. I arrived in Montreal and the officer asked why I didn't travel directly from 9ja. They then asked for my enrollment letter and after then, I was issued my study permit. Everyone on the flight was selected for covid arrival testing and I (fully vaccinated) was required to quarantine until the result was out. The result came out on the third day of my arrival. At the moment, it is not very cold here. The minimum temperature so far is -4 degrees. 16 Likes |

1. Yes, you can go with your phones. 2. The airports have FREE WiFi. You can connect to the airport wifi and use WhatsApp call to call your family. But if your family is in a place without internet for whatsapp call, try to set up a Smile account before you leave 9ja. You can use the smile app to do a direct call, voice-over-internet (VOIP) call, to them. 3. You may not have access to the wifi on the plane unless you fly first class, or in some airlines, buy internet data. PatrickOkunima: 2 Likes 1 Share |

It is super extremely important. Without that, you may not be allowed into the country. You must also book your flight to Canada. You can always book hotels that'll allow you to pay on arrival. That way, you don't need to spend. johnfem321: |

Turkish, Lufthansa are the cheapest. Emirates and Qatar are on the high side. If you have a US visa, then so many more cheaper options. Use google flights and skyscanner to search NewMercy: |

Mexico transit update I'm transiting through Mexico city. Flights to Cancun is cheaper than Mexico city from Nigeria, but Cancun is a tourist destination and so is expensive to get a modest accommodation and also food. Moreover, Cancun is farther away from Canada than Mexico city, so the flight to Canada is more expensive via Cancun. Hence, my choice of Mexico city. My Mexican friend advised that I go with euros instead of dollars because after conversion to Mexico pesos, euro is more profitable. She also said that there are a lot of kiosks to change money after the luggage pickup area in the airport. She said that that's where you will find best rates. My supervisor has linked me up with a Mexican student also. I will update on any new info. Also, this is the link to the Mexican embassy website where they said that those with used/unused Canadian visa can enter Mexico for max 30days. It will be wise to print the page. https://embamex.sre.gob.mx/nigeria/index.php/en/mexican-visas/mexican-visa-for-non-remunerated-activities 19 Likes 1 Share |

Hello, I was trying this route too but my problem is that the layover in Turkish air is 23hours and the free hotel service provided by Turkish air is stopped due to covid. Other flights that I saw will transit through the US, and this is ruled out due to the visa requirements. Please which airline did she book? phaeedat95: |

No! Unless you have a German/Shenghen visa. Your Canadian visa only gives you the privilege to transit. Therefore, without the German/Shenghen visa, you can't leave the airport. millie0: 3 Likes |

Ikechi12: Okay this is my timeline! 2nd time applicant 1st application was in the UK on 14th May 2021. My review started in July when I had already returned to Nigeria. They told me that my UK permit had expired and that I should update them with a new permit. I then replied that I had returned to Nigeria bla bla. Then they issued me a rejection. In the GCMS note, this was the reason: Nigerian male applicant, has been studying Masters through an Erasmus programme in Italy and in the UK. Status is now expired and he has returned to Port Harcourt. The applicant has not yet completed his Masters degree through Erasmus programme (states completion will be in September) and as such I am not satisfied that he currently meets the criteria to engage in a PhD programme at McGill University. Further, there are similar programmes available closer to Nigeria, studies in Canada would further remove the applicant from his country of citizenship, after studies in Europe and the UK. On the whole, I am not satisfied the applicant meets the requirements under R216 for the following reasons: - Academic credentials have not been presented - Limited travel history - Limited assets - Purpose of travel I felt that they just rejected me because of my expired status in the UK because: 1. I don't have a limited travel history. You can see from the visa officer's comment that they are aware that I have travelled to UK and Italy. 2. I have multiple scholarships for my PhD plus 15kcad personal saving 3. Even though I completed my MSc in September, my resumption would be in January. So it should not be an issue. Overall, I think my residence status was the reason for the rejection. 2nd application timeline Submitted: 6th October Request for medical: 16th November Medical passed: 26th November PPR: 1st December Submitted documents: All IMM documents Proof of funds (scholarships + personal savings of 15k) Admission Letter Letter of Explanation Recommendation letter from my PhD supervisor. 1. Under letter of acceptance, upload only letter of acceptance. 2. In optional documents, upload your letter of explanation and merge it with your supporting documents into a single pdf. Merge all your bank statements into a single pdf and upload it in your proof of funds. You can merge pdfs online (in these websites -smallpdf,adobe website, etc) or offline (using these computer softwares - pdf24, advanced pdf utility) Chiziteremary: 4 Likes |

Milk is not allowed! What the poster did was illegal. If they were to be caught, it won't auger well for them. It is advisable that for future's sake, abide by all the laws. You don't want to have a dent of disobedience in your history because of milk, ordinary milk! Kema22: 2 Likes |

Update on vaccination I just recently finished a meeting with the International Student Service of my school and I asked about the new vaccination update: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/news/2021/11/government-of-canada-announces-adjustments-to-canadas-border-measures.html They informed me that the November 30 requirement for full vaccination is actually for those already in Canada, and not those about to enter. The date for which unvaccinated foreign nationals won't be allowed to enter Canada is January 15th 2022. 2 Likes |

Hello bro, your GCMS notes will make things clearer. I also had a similar issue like you. Same with someone else here. I applied from the UK few months to my study permit expiration and was rejected. This is the reason why I am feeling that it may be the chief reason. Some countries boldly tell you to have at least 6 months residency in the country you're applying from, but Canada seems not to be straightforward in that regard. Hence, my suspicion. But let's wait for the GCMS notes sha. em3kae88: |

Hello, I made a very concise post on page 592 on how I was able to do my exam the same day at IOM Abuja. Sending emails won't work. I sent several emails and they told me that they were fully booked. Qlife gave me an appointment for the 13th of December. But when I went in person, I did it the same day. Since time is not on your side, I strongly recommend that you go in person. Hello. Sorry for the rejection. How long is your residence permit in Qatar? Usually, if you have a short residency, it's a problem. So while you wait for your GCMS notes, try to extend your residency in Qatar. em3kae88: |
