madjam: An Ikeja High Court was on Thursday thrown into confusion after an unnamed witness slumped and died in the court just before testifying before Justice O.A. Olayinka in a land case.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the deceased, who was in his late 30s, had come court to testify in a land dispute.
“Before the case was called for trial, he started coughing and gasping and had to leave the courtroom.
“He was vomiting a lot of blood and onlookers were scared to go near him.
“He collapsed on the corridors of the courtroom and a medical team came in an ambulance to take body away.
“His lawyer informed Justice Olayinka of his client’s death and she immediately stopped proceedings for the day,” a witness said.
When NAN visited the courtroom, clots of blood were seen on the corridors of the courtroom as well as the blood-stained shirt and leather slippers of the deceased.
A court registrar, who pleaded anonymity, told NAN:“I am not authorised to speak on what happened in this court today, it is only the Chief Registrar that can speak.”

Politics › Re: On The 82 Chibok Girls Released - Unanswered Questions By Reno Omokri by ikemesit4477: 8:41am On May 10, 2017 |
22Mikey: Try to read this with unbiased mind, think and comment. We can't be fooled forever.
Anybody that is not happy that 82 Chibok girls were released must be a monster whose humanity should be called into question. I thank God that these girls have been released and I commend the Federal Government for the feat of ensuring that these girls are reunited with their families. May God bless President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the leadership that enabled this to happen. Having said that, there are some factual observations I want to raise.
What you are about to read is completely devoid of any opinion. I am just stating facts. You may not like the facts. You may not even like me. But one thing you cannot do is ignore the fact.
May 5, 2017: 82 Chibok girls were released by Boko Haram to the Nigerian government after negotiations that involved a prisoner swap and according to some news reports also included substantial payments: But questions about this incidence remain.
On May 3, 2017, international news syndicate, AFP News Agency, reported that on Friday April 29, 2017 fighter jets from the Nigerian Airforce had pounded Boko Haram positions in Balla village, which is 25 miles from Damboa, just outside Sambisa Forest. Citing intelligence reports, they reported that the bombing was so intense that several Boko Haram fighters were killed including the group’s deputy leader, Abba Mustapha, alias Malam Abba and another leader, Abubakar Gashua, alias Abu Aisha, described as a key person in the group’s hierarchy. The Nigerian Air force emailed a statement to the AFP in support of these reports on the same day and said “Battle damage assessment conducted after the strike showed that several leaders of the Boko Haram terrorist organisation and their followers were killed during the attacks”. Babakura Kolo, a member of the Civilian JTF (a militia registered with the Nigerian government to help in the fight with Boko Haram) testified that “a number of commanders were killed.”
On May 4, 2017, Boko Haram’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, released a video denouncing and taunting the Nigerian government over the attack and promising reprisals. Yet, after this incident on April 29, 2017 that led to the death of their top commanders and many of their foot soldiers, Boko Haram still went on to release 82 Chibok girls to the same Nigerian government that their leader had sworn revenge on exactly a week earlier? Does this add up? Does this gel with reality? Does this even make sense? Is Boko Haram that magnanimous?
On May 7, 2017, when the girls were ferried over to the Nigerian Presidential Villa at Aso Rock, Abuja to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari, photographs released showed them looking very well fed and robust. In fact, the next day (May Africa’s top blog, Linda Ikeji’s blog published a photo of the released girls side by side with a picture of a woman and her baby in one of the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Borno state for a side by side comparison and these Chibok girls, who had been living rough inside Sambisa forest looked well fed, well groomed and buxom while the woman in the IDP camp looked haggard and hungry. It leaves you questioning who has been in captivity and who has been free. How is this possible? This is not the first time Chibok girls have been released. Almost exactly a year ago, just a week before the current Nigerian administration marked its first year in office, some Chibok girls were also released. Another batch were released in October 2016. The thing is that when these girls are released, there is a media blackout on them. No one is allowed near them to interview them. I understand that they have gone through an ordeal, but Malala also went through a similar or even worse ordeal and no one shielded her from the press. Malala Yousafzai was shot at age 15 by the taliban and left unconscious. She survived and she was threatened by the taliban who threatened to kill her should they catch her. Her case was one of clear and present danger. Yet she was not sequestered from the public even though, like the Chibok girls, her English was not so good at first. In fact, an international press tour was arranged for her placing her on the world stage and kick-starting the activism that earned her a Nobel Prize making her the youngest person ever to be so awarded. One would have thought that that is what would have played out for the released girls.
Last October, 21 Chibok girls were release by Boko Haram after negotiations. Till date, these girls have been kept from the press. Even their own parents are not allowed access to them accoThe New York Times York Times piece on them published on March 11, 2017. The girls are kept in S safe house according to the New York Times. During the Christmas holidays they were allowed to visit Chibok but were housed in the home of a “top politician”. Their parents were only allowed to ‘visit them’. Soldiers guarded the girls and after some hours asked the parents of the girls to leave. On Christmas Day itself, they were denied entry to the politicians house to see their own children and on January 8, 2017 the girls were returned to their safe house and according to the New York Times “Neither the public nor their parents have been able to see them since.” No one really knows what went on with these girls since their abduction. It is all smoke and mirrors. These girls are innocent. They did not kidnap themselves. They were pawns in a game whose puppeteers we do not yet know. No one should raise any questions about these girls after what they have been through. But surely we can raise questions about events themselves.
Think people. Am I the only one seeing this? And they also want to tell us that BH have tailors in sambisa forest, because even the dresses they are putting on is well measured and sew, imagine students that were kidnapped with school uniforms! and secondly how can someone survive in the forest for three good years under rain and sun and still look healthy or are they telling us that they are luxury apartments in sambisa forest? |

ChangeIsCostant: The Police has arrested the Stanbic Bank worker, Martha Amakye, who allegedly defrauded the bank’s customers to the tune of GHc900,000 (over N67million)..She was arrested at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra region based on a tip-off.
The 33-year old woman who was outsourced to work at the Tema Community One branch of Stanbic Bank took monies from customers with the promise of investing it in high-yielding fixed deposits.
She was declared wanted by the Ghana Police Service after she absconded.
Her pictures were posted on the Facebook timeline of Stanbic Bank. A message attached to the picture indicates that she was a Personal Solutions Consultant at the Tema Community 1 branch in Accra.
Amakye allegedly collected various sums of monies from clients of the bank between 2015 and 2016 with the notion of investing them in fixed deposits
She is reported to have promised the customers interest rate of between 18 and 20 percent per month without the consent of the management of the bank. This got her many clients especially because of the high-interest rate.
She will be arraigned in subsequent days.

Romance › Re: Heartbroken Lesbian Jumps Off Building After Heated Argument With Girlfriend by ikemesit4477: 6:25pm On May 06, 2017 |
FlirtyKaren: A heartbroken lesbian, who had relationship issues with her girlfriend, opted to jump down from their building after the unsettled argument with her girlfriend.
She was severely injured after she jumped off the third floor of a building in Phuket Town, Thailand on Friday morning, May 5th.
“Today's incident took place at Sarita Mansion in the Poonpon area at about 11am. The 21-year-old tomboy, ‘Rat’, was sitting at the edge of the roof of the apartment building. Rescue workers tried to persuade her not to jump, while other team members rushed to set up an air mattress and arranged for a cable car to get up there," said Phuket City Police Superintendent Komol Osiri.
Rat reportedly refused to listen to anyone and lowered herself to hang off the edge instead.
“She held on for about three minutes and then let go, hitting her head on an air-con unit and falling to the ground unconscious. She was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital,” he added. Sarita Mansion staff told police that she had been living at the apartment for about one month and had had an argument with her girlfriend at about 3am Friday morning. Her girlfriend had then left for work.
“She wrote a letter before going up to the roof. The letter stated that Ms Rat was done with the relationship. However, we will question her girlfriend first before closing the case,” said the superintendent.

Celebrities › Re: Mercy Aigbe: Lanre Gentry Gets Court’s Restraining Order by ikemesit4477: 6:13pm On May 03, 2017 |
omoashy: This is the beginning of the end of actress Mercy Aigbe-Gentry’s enviable marriage.
Kemiashefonlovehaven exclusively gathered that the pretty actress, who reported the case of domestic violence meted against her by her husband to the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs, has gotten a Restraining Order from the court.
The Restraining Order, (also called a “protective order”) is a court order that can protect someone from being physically or sexually abused, threatened, stalked, or harassed. The person getting the restraining order is called the “protected person.” The person the restraining order is against is the “restrained person.” Sometimes, restraining orders include other “protected persons” like family or household members of the protected person.
Now that Lanre Gentry has got the Restrained Order, he has to keep a certain distance away (like 50 or 100 yards) from Mercy, where she lives; her business place, her son’s school, his vehicles he gave her and other important places Mercy goes. Meanwhile, Lanre Gentry, who obviously regretted his violent action against his wife, has been posting photos of himself and Mercy on Instagram saying he loves his wife. He has also posted throwback pictures of their ‘olden’ days when Mercy was ‘nobody.’
The four-year-old union that has produced a son was placed on the front burner of discussions on Friday April 28, when pictures of a battered Mercy’s face went viral on social media. The actress’ husband Lanre Gentry was said to have inflicted the injuries on her while the couple had a fight during the Easter holiday.
Also in the media was a copy of a CT scan she carried out after the violence on her which indicated that she had a fracture in her skull. She was reported to have been on admission at a hospital where she was treated as a result of the assault.
Recall that Lanre Gentry was married to his first wife before Mercy. Also, he was said to have married actress, Bimbo Akisanya, who was like a mentor to Mercy before he allegedly impregnated Mercy and she became his wife.
Bimbo Akisanya, who didn’t have kids for Gentry left and got married again to another man. She is now a mother.
Meanwhile, Mercy is the fourth woman to have kids for Lanre Gentry. Aside his first wife who had daughters for him, a certain Opeyemi Amudat bore his first son, whom he christened Lanre Gentry. Opeyemi was impregnated as an undergraduate and her sister was a friend to Gentry’s first wife! Also on the list of his women is an Igbo policewoman who has also left his house. One of the reasons that caused fracas in his marriage to Mercy was infidelity from his part (many of his friends and relatives have also accused Mercy of being adulterous too). It was gathered and alleged that Lanre was dating Opemititi, a young lady, who lives in Abeokuta but comes to Lagos regularly. The lady also known as “Queen Stunner” was said to be very close to Mercy and visited her while she was still married and living with Lanre. Opemititi took Mercy as a ‘Big Sister’ and mentor.
There are allegations that the estranged husband of Mercy is having an affair with Opemititi.
Mercy is separated from Lanre and moved out of the home. The pretty actress has not addressed the issue but has put up images that address putting a stop to Domestic Violence on her social media space.

donogaga: Ghanaian actress of Nigerian and Ghanaian descent, Chinyere Yvonne Okoro, revealed she has been single for more than two years because men just do not have the courage to approach her.
In an interview last Friday during the launch of Glam Africa Magazine in Accra, the 32-year-old told showbiz
“The issue is men don’t have balls to come forward to ask me out because they think I am already hooked or perhaps I am very high maintenance”.
“Also, I may still be single because most people think celebrities are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing partners but that is a very wrong perception.
“A good number of celebs are single because they are confused as to who to accept in their life. You see, you are not sure if the person is coming in because of your fame and money or the person wants to be with you because of real love” she added.
“It is not about money but if a man is not brave enough to come forward then I do not think I want to be with such a person. Anyway, who wants to be with a timid man? She queried.
Contrary to the perception people may have, she does not really have eyes for high society men. She is ready to date a man who will understand her and make her happy.
Asked if she has not come across such a man yet, Yvonne said “No I haven’t but I hope to meet him very soon”, she added.

Maybe she was just reading about the news recently. She however called out those criticizing the Big Brother Naija Show, and tagged them as “Hypocrites”.
In a chat with Soundcity FM, she said:
“A lot of people are hypocrites. Even if Big Brother Naija was not on the air, It wouldn’t change the fact that people still do terrible things in the world,” she said. “It would not change anything. “Big Brother taught me a lot. It made me a stronger person. “People who didn’t even watch the show had their own perception of it. You cannot please everybody because even religious shows get criticised.”
Recall, while the show was still on, many “Nigerians” called on the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to halt the show from airing as it was promoting immorality, some even had to file court cases just for the show to be put on hold. May also criticized the government for allowing such an immoral show to be aired in the country.
Is this what we should be talking about now?

Christianity Etc › Re: "I Am Relocating To Israel" - Prophet TB Joshua by ikemesit4477: 1:11pm On May 02, 2017 |
alphonsojaybaz: BREAKING: I'm leaving Nigeria, and relocating to another country - TB Joshua source: http://www.eyesoflagos.com/2017/05/breaking-im-leaving-nigeria-and.html
In a bombshell announcement that shocked congregants and viewers of Emmanuel TV alike, Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua declared his intentions to leave Nigeria and relocate his ministry to the nation of Israel.
Speaking to a rapt multi-national audience at his church service on Sunday 30th April 2017, Joshua disclosed that he had just returned from the ‘Holy Land’ after holding meetings with three prominent Israeli mayors of Jerusalem, Tiberias and the Jordan Valley.
According to the cleric, they offered both land and facilities in an area around the biblical site of the Sea of Galilee for the Nigerian Pastor to organise meetings for international pilgrims.
“This is where my Father in Heaven came from – it’s non-negotiable,” Joshua explained, adding it was not a decision he undertook lightly.
“It’s the best place for you to meet Prophet T.B. Joshua. After your healing, blessing and deliverance, you can move around all the spiritual monuments which will establish your faith,” he further clarified.
Joshua said his decision to leave was not connected to the “persecution” he endured during his ministry.
However, he hoped the move would help people to “appreciate” what his ministry had been contributing to both the local economy and Nigeria’s international image.
“This is the most persecuted ministry in the world. Who are the people persecuting the ministry? My people, Africa,” Joshua bluntly stated, adding that this ‘treatment’ had led him into a life of virtual isolation.
“That is why I choose to live a lonely life. If you want to see me, come to this church. I don’t go out. It has not been easy – because I don’t know who is a friend or who is an enemy. If you learn T.B. Joshua is not around, I am in a revival. I live in the church here. I don’t have a house outside.”
“Anytime you pray, remember Africa in prayer,” the cleric solemnly continued to an audience which included over 3,000 foreign nationals who flew into Nigeria to attend the church service.
“Many heroes and great people have been chased out of Africa. There are many geniuses in the Western world who are originally from Africa.”
The cleric pointed to the example of heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua who was allegedly turned down by Nigerian sporting authorities when he wanted to represent the country.
“What happened to me from the beginning of my ministry is enough to chase me out of this country - but I am still in your midst. Upon the persecution and hatred – I decided to follow the path of love. You show hatred; I show love. When I go for a revival, you will see the stadium full but I am not carried away by that. I leave where I’m celebrated to live where I’m persecuted.”
The cleric then advised congregants: “Where you are not celebrated is the best place to stay, to get strength. When you are in the midst of a battle, you are building yourself. That is why I decided to stay where I am not celebrated here in Nigeria. When the grace of God is amid challenges, it gets stronger.”
According to the cleric, the invitation to Israel came due to the growing popularity of Joshua’s television channel Emmanuel TV, which is especially known on YouTube.
“Your life can preach a better sermon than your mouth,” he exhorted the congregation, stating that the Israeli officials had observed his ministry from afar before inviting him.
No timeframe for the move was specified in the service and it was not clear whether activities in The SCOAN's Ikotun-Egbe base would cease entirely.
Joshua concluded by counselling people: “Don’t destroy your relationships beyond repair because the person who fights you today can be your saviour tomorrow.”
The shock announcement will come as a blow to Nigeria’s religious tourism industry.
Statistics from the Nigerian Immigration Services revealed that six out of every ten travelers to Nigeria go to The SCOAN, with countless local businesses and hotels in the area relying on the church activities for their sustenance. I believe he can still change his mind! |
