@ chukel and abatically, I hope you are not elektra80? Because if you are, you know what will happen to all posts and these two usernames if i eventually find out. @ chukel, Any more insult from you on this thread to any moderator or member, you will be banned. Moderator |
Burger01: Ikenna take it easy. We're all here to learn and kind of make things easier for car owners. No knowledge shared is little or above little. let's grow up and act maturely. I take my car serious and so do other peeps. unfortunately I didn't get to read Ikenna's posts before he decided to have them hidden.I don't get paid for being a moderator in Car Talk. I don't get paid here for sharing the little knowledge I have acquired in car industry, which have helped many members of Nairaland in resolving their car issues. So I don't get to be commanded to share that knowledge by the original poster and get to be insulted for sharing that knowledge for free, by the same op. I can be open minded, but disciplined enough to draw line to nonsense. So i will only share that little knowledge that cost me a lot to acquire where it will be truly needed and appreciated. Ikenna |

filcast: Hello house, my 306 (Restyling) auto,Xu10 engine has some issues that needs attention:- If they can't find any leak gas leak on A/C components and lines in the engine bay, they should pull down the dashborad and check the A/C evaporator for leakage. It's under the dashboard. - No comment on the Fuel Pump. - Of course, what what done on the caty is not ok. But if your injection system has Euro III emission control system, then your ECU won't report the wrong done on the caty, but you will be polluting the environment, so they said . - To know the recommended or factory tyre size, post your VIN here. Will get back to you with it. - No comment on re-spray. - For English translation of your 306 owners manual, find a link to it on page 7 of this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/1003701/peugeot-thread-psa-community/7 Ikenna |
guysmilee134: Hi Ikenna we just confirmed the access codes that was inputed into the new BSI was incorrect thats why the car still wasnt starting. my mechanic however says the BSI can still be recoded and we should send it to kd for the recoding process. i ve now been away from my fox for close to two weeks i hope it gets sorted out for good this time. he also got the transponder chips. thanksWith your VIN and probably the DAM, PAN will recode it for you. It is well. Ikenna |
Fixed: Ikenna, all this passion in the defense of your car brand? You have to respond to every post, even to the extent of not seeing the lightheartedness in Sultaan's posts?I need to grow up, I forgot, because na you dey feed me. I can choose to respond to every post here because you don't pay my internet subscription. I need to grow up, noted. Your words: "that thing they called 301 is a huge disappointment! I found it very hard to believe that a 1.2ltr 3 cylinder car can be shipped to Nigeria in the name of emerging market. " This is the same Nigerians who complain how V6 are gas guzzlers; these are Nigerians who visit Car Talk to ask for cars that consume less than the others, to help them choose cars that consume less while hunting for cars; these are the same Nigerians that would complain they need cars that would consume only 5 litres from Abuja to Lagos; these are the same Nigerians that would convert their V6 to I4, just to reduce fuel consumption, even when the conversions done were horrible. Now, Peugeot decided to provide what Nigerians have been crying for, a 3 cylinder engine that will consume less than the I4 engines that some of us still complain they consume high. But the same Nigerians are now saying "Peugeot, is this all you got?". What a people! Like I said in one of my posts here, my concern is not how i feel about your bad mouthing of Peugeot, but what is wrong with us, Nigerians. Did I in any manner state in my posts on 301 that every Nigerians should start buying or go for Peugeot 301? Did I not state "If green cars or fuel economy cars interest you, Peugeot 301 with 3 cylinder engine is a good option" ? That you do not like 301 or cars with 3 cylinder engines, why not focus on the ones with 12 cylinders that you find interesting and praise? Read your above quoted bolded statement and tell me who truly need to grow up. Every beer room you hit, every Restaurant you enter, every gathering you meet, every corner you see 3 or 5 men together, all you would be hearing/seeing is how each of them is on each others throat for trying to defend the foootball club he supports, simply because he has a Chelsea T-shirt hanged in his wardrobe. You see men shouting, sometimes, physically fighting, just to prove the other wrong about the club he supports, simply because of some T-shirts, even when those clubs and players they are defending aggressively do not know they exist. But when it comes to cars, expecially Peugeot cars, I should not defend or have any attachment to Peugeot I drive when I see a wrong impression or false information on Peugeot posted. But there is nothing wrong to disturb the neighbourhood with your arguements while defending football clubs or players you support, polluting the environment with noise, just because of some T-shirts. But in my case, where my Lions take me to every part of the country I want to, bring me back safely without a cough in the journey and would still beg me to take them on more trips. My Lions that have saved my life on many occassions on highway, which was not because of my driving skill that i got saved, but because of God and how those Lions would handle predictably on those incidents, without any scratch on both myself and the Lions. My Lion which saved me the day I had a blowout on highspeed, the front right side tyre of the car, without my input, handled impressively before the car came to a halt, as if nothing happend. Incidents that would have taken me to my early Grave, but prevented because of the choice I made to stick to a particular brand, after I have had several accidents with other brands. Yes, God saves. But He helps those who help themselves. If Peugeot is one of the things that keeps me alive, knowing what i face each time am on those deadly highways, for what is what, Peugeot deserve my emotional attachment to the name. And I thank God for making me make that good choice, so far. So, yes, I will defend Peugeot if I see any false information here against them. I wanted to post the pictures from the event in Peugeot thread only, excluding other brands. But I thought how selfish that would be, since there would be some people who would like to see them, who dont visit Peugeot thread. I realised not everyone would be opportune to attend the event, especially those outside Abuja. That was why i changed my mind, started this topic, so that I could include pictures from other brand stands. Unfortunately, it was a mistake. Even though I made sure I covered all the car manufacturers that participated; even though I didnot in any of the pictures of other brands comment negatively about them, yet the brand Op indicated interest in has to be bashed/thrashed. And when I responded, "I should grow up". Your words:...... "My preference will easily be the Corolla as I don't see myself riding a 3 cylinder car with manual window controls in this age!".... You have nothing against Peugeot, yet you have to stoop this low to discredit Peugeot 301. Where in the picture did you see Peugeot 301 with manual windows control? If there is, is it the front windows or rear windows? Any picture that back your claim? Even if there is as you claimed, how equiped with gadgets is Toyota Yaris with 3 cylinder engine and other similar cars?. If you, the Adult, should comment negatively about another car brand you don't drive, why should I "grow up" then when I tried to comment likewise on the brand you drive? Go through all your posts here, go through mine carefully and decides who truly need to grow up. Again, if you are truly convinced that Peugeot produce crappy and unreliable cars, please post them here. So that I can reply in kind how "relaible and uncrappy" your car/brand is. It's out of respect that i didnt start reviewing those brands those that bashed Peugeot here drive, probably they made mistake. But if you are sure "you have nothing to hide", come back and repeat your statements or post more facts to prove your stand. It could be fun. But dont get offended with what I have to say about what you drive. Ikenna |
slinkky: Thanks for the quick response. I have been experiencing starting problem with my 307 since i used a spare key, i wonder, whether BSI reset could solve it. Everything seems fine, except the start motor which fails to turnover, the car can only be bump/jump started. It doesnt sound like a BSI issue. If your BSI rejects your transponder, the car wont start even if you push it from Enugu to Abuja. The cause of the non-crank issue will be stored in your BSI. You need to know what it is with PP2000. Notwithstanding, have you check if the starter relay or fuse is still intact? Is your ignition switch still good? Have you had the starter removed and tested off the car, to confirm if it starts when powered direct? But there is nothing wrong if you want to reset your BSI, anyway. You never know. Please, when carrying out these test (except plugging in PP2000), make sure the negative battery terminal is disconnected, with the right procedure. Make you no go complicate matters. Lol! ![]() Ikenna |
chukel: @ikenna. In as much as I wil give it to you that u r knowledgeable in car issue, dats does not mk u a Lord. U r just a moderator. I understand d content of ur post above but ur presentation is rather rude and shows arrogance. If u felt I got it wrong, y not politely give ur correction. I also never mentioned my cooling system was abused. If I had known the above would be the response I would get, I wouldn't have bothered to explain why the people you called to treat the content of your 1st post have not done so. If you knew all these while that I was possing myself as "lord" when I am just a moderator, why did you call on me? What statement did i make in that post that you could insult me in this manner? Nice topic, but wrong content? Is this what you called possing as lord, rude and arrogance? So all the explanation i gave why the message/reqest in your post would be difficult to achieve, was not enough for you to understand why i said "wrong content"? .........""Now, Op, check the content of your first post here and tell me again what wrong we have done for not posting videos that will end up causing more confusion to your abused cooling systems ?""....... ^^^^So, with the above quotation, especially the bolded, so I was referring to you? Is that why you got offended? I felt very bad for the wasted effort. I wanted to remove the post since it was a mistake, but i have decided to ask first. So, please, since you created this thread, just do me a favour. Did I sound rude and showed arrogance in that post? All I need from you is YES or NO. If i dont get any response, i will go ahead and remove the post and mind my business, like others you ask to contribute have done. Ikenna |
slinkky: Please are there any dangers of doing a manual bsi reset on a Peugeot 307As 206 has BSI, so is the new 508. The BSI manual didnt state "procedure for Peugeot 406 BSI reset", but "How to Reset BSI". The same function BSI does in 406, 307, 407, etc, it's the same work it does in 408 or 508. So i dont think the BSI reset procedure in your 307 will be different. Ikenna |
wisesystem: Thanks for your prompt response my broda, Yes your right, the fault was stored in the BSI. So as I get u, there's a disconnect btw the BSI and the key the solution lies in knowing what part performs that function. Hmmm!Good morning. Now I have confirmed. The Transponder Aerial exist, different from COMM 2000. The Transponder Aerial signals to COMM 2000 and COMM 2000 channels the received signal to BSI, before the BSI will interprete the signal received and allow the engine ECU to start the engine or lock itself when engine is cranked, depending on what it received and interpreted. No be small thing o!. So, if I were you, I would check the transponder aerial first. The transponder aerial is behind the ignition switch or at the bottom of the switch, as earlier stated. It has two wire connector that goes to the COMM 2000. Check the connectors. If they are ok, I would replace the aerial and see what happens. Find below what the Aerial in D9 looks like, directly behind the ignition switch. Ikenna

abatically: Look at 2 so called moderators laughing at a fellow nairalander that needs help. Well its really funny though but he should be corrected and not ridiculed. @op it is called air flow meter or mass air flow sensor (MAF). U can contact nissparts, he should be able to help u out. Check the link to his profile. https://www.nairaland.com/nisspartsHahaha! I still dey laugh o! Of course, you wanted me to feel offended, unfortunately, you got the wrong person. Don't worry, i will help you out. Op mentioned a part in car the way mechanics would pronounce it. Yes, the same way a mechanic would call Catalytic converter "Indomie " which nearly everyone calls it. The way the mechanics would pronounce Camber as "Cacumber" , which i used to call/pronounce it the same, back in the days at Awka. The way mechanics would pronounce Crankhaft as "Cramshaft" back then at Awka. Etc. I used to pronounce or call those parts the same the mechanics do, which i remembered immediately i saw what op said and it got me laughing. I would advice, always read carefully before you comment on a post. So that you don't end up embarrassing yourself for reading wrong meanings or not understanding a poster. Because all you just did was to expose a grudge or hatred that has been eaten you against a moderator who had no clue what you are going through. Yes, a certain moderator who posts grammatical errors. If you were referring to me, you should be man enough to do so. Or you thought i would ban you? Oh! Since you sabi correct people. It's interesting to know too from you that another name for AFM is MAF. Op, abeg, i was lauging at what you said which was very funny. The same way a friend called me this evening to tell me his mechanic changed his manual transmission oil with ABRO ATF. I was laughing so loud that he started laughing too. ABRO ATF in manual transmission. These things our mechanics do! Abeg, Op, forgive me, i no dey laugh you. You only made me laugh out today's stress abeg! By the way, i have edited the title. Ikenna |
ONWARDBABA: AM IN NEED OF A AIR FILOMETER FOR 2002 INFINTY Qx3 2002 PLZ ![]() Please, I still dey office. No make me laugh like mad man here biko nu! Wetin come be Air Filometer kwa? Na so your mechanic teach you? Ha!Please, do you mean Air Flow Meter? Ikenna |
wisesystem: @ Ikenna. scanned my lion, a global scan just to be sure. ECU had a fault which read:Ok. Now, we know what the problem is: Intermittent dis-communications between those three components. What ECU that gave that error fault: Engine ECU or BSI? Did the guy check to know if it has an error code? Always good to have one and work with both, because some definitions of errors in that PP2000 are not always the true definition. Close to the culprit(s), but not always specific. But with the code, Peugeot book will give you all you need to know about that code. Next time, ask the scan guy to click the icon "i" on the bottom of the screen, after the error faults have been showned on the screen. Thats where the error codes of each error faults are hidden. Notwithstanding, lets see what we can do with what we have. BSI is the component immobilizing your car, stopping it from starting, not the Engine ECU. So, the issue has nothing to the with the Engine ECU, but it will get the immobilizer alert each time BSI didnt receive the correct code from the transponder while cranking the engine. In that case, it may store the falut as well. So, that leaves us with transponder and the BSI. BSI does not receive the code directly from the transponder each time the engine is cranked. Something channels that communication. So if that thing that channels that communication between them fails or fails intermittently, the BSI will respond as its designed to "immobilize" the car, since it will sense it as unauthorised attempt to start the start. Now before your COMM 2000 issue few weeks ago, I gathered that there is a component behind the key switch that transmit the transponder code to the BSI as soon as the key is close to the ignition switch, even when it's not inserted in the switch yet. They regarded the component as "Aerial". It means if the Aerial fails or starts failing intermittently, the BSI will respond to whatever info available: either correct code recieved from transponder via Aerial or No code received from Aerial and hence car will be immobilized. Here is where am a little bit confused. Is the Aerial different from COMM 2000? Or are the two components the same? Could it be that they were referring the COMM 2000 as Aerial or they are different components doing similar function? This is what am yet to find out. Usually, I would open my steering wheel cover to identify which is which. Unfortunately, my 406 V6 in the Diagbox doesnt have electrical diagram, to locate and be certain if Aerial exist and different from the COMM 2000 which the location is obvious. But I could find out still. I just need more time. My point is, something is not passing the transponder code all the time you crank your engine. I would suspect the "Aerial", but I cannot tell if Aerial is the COMM 2000 or if its different. If the Aerial, as they called it, is COMM 2000, then you dont need to look further. As for what your mechanic said about spare key and main key, forgive me, this is kind of joke they tell in circus. Please, transponders are indestructible, sort of. Have you ever seen a transponder? Unless, the position of the transponder in the plip was shifted from the original position which makes it difficult for the Aerial to read the codes on the transponder and send it to BSI. You can open the plip to confirm the position of the transponder in the spare key. But if both the spare key and main key cause the "intermittent immobilizer", then leave the transponders. The fault is elsewhere. Did the car come with the security card? If it does, then do this. Scratch the hidden stuff on the part of the card, just like Phone Airtime scracth card where pin is hidden. You will find 4 digits hidden under it. Use PP2000 to re-enter the 4 digit codes on that card in your BSI. This is to re-program or re-code the transponders on the two keys, in case the replaced COMM 2000 affected the code on the transponders when it was replaced. It's could also serve as re-confirmation of the transponders code to the BSI. The first thing I would do is to remove the steering cover and look for the Aerial behind the key/ignition switch. Unless not all models have it. If I would find it, then I would not bother with the COMM 2000. But if I dont, I would suspect the COMM 2000 or re-code the transponders with the hidden 4 codes on the security card via PP2000. The problem lies between these 3 I mentioned, I believe. Good luck. Ikenna |

ZIM DRILL: http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/safety/daytime-running-lights.htmlVery helpful. The writer said Euro spec cars have only their headlights and/or rear side light off with DRL. But the writer forgot that all Peugeots (if am not mistaken) with Daylight Running Lights have headlights, front side lights and rear park lights on too. Ikenna |
tirnom: Sorry for being a bother. Sir, if you were in my shoes how would you resolve the issue ? Thank you for your time. Before I tell you what I would do if i were in your shoes, let me ask you. Is your engine breathing properly? Let me put it this way, I hope you did't block any of the vacuum lines on that engine? As for what I would do. I would first check if my wallet can rebuild the engine with genuine parts or simply get a tokunbo engine. Why? Even if the problem is cylinder head related, I would still have to rebuild the engine, because the parts you used in rebuilding the engine must be inferior ones which wont last, considering the amount you spent on that. Ikenna |
wisesystem: Hi House. Hope we all had a splendid weekend.Honestly, I think we should waite and see what the PP2000 says that is causing your car going into Immobilizer intermittently. Am out of ideas now in your case. BSI matter is not something one would do a guess work on. Whatever it's going on in your lion between the transponder, Comm 2000 & BSI Unit will be stored in the BSI memory. You need to find out what it is with PP2000. But I wonder what is causing this Immobilizer fault in your car, for the 2nd time now. Ikenna |
davonny: Good morning house, how was the weekend. Just want to share with u d experiences I had with my 406, EW10 engine. For about eight months I was not able to use my AC because the AC evaporator in the dash board was faulty-leaking. I was told that d dash board had to be removed b4 they can access d avaporator and because of this I didn't attempt to repair d AC system until my mech recommended a 406 electricain specialist to me. Last week monday, they dismantled d dashboard and put another evaporator and coupled it back. Since then my AC has been very chill without any electrical fault araising. In addition, I was able to repair my fuel gauge and my speedometer. This guys are good. I'm now enjoying my lion more than ever b4.Congrats! That's good to hear. Ikenna |
tirnom: Sorry for the mix up forgive me, pls.Speaking of intake manifold , where air & fuel mixture takes place before go into the combustion chambers via intake valves. It means the intake manifold has no direct contact with the cylinders. So i would suspect the cylinder head as the source of oil in the intake manifold. The noise you hear could be coming from the camshaft or valves, depending on how it sounds. Ikenna |
tirnom: Pls, my 406 EW 10 engine is leaking engine oil in to the manifold air intake through the vacuum hose thereby causing the the oil level to be low. I took it to a mechanic who said he would have to put new rings and bearings which set me back about 40k including workmanship.I don't understand what you mean by EW10 skeleton ? You mean engine block? I wouldn't know where the oil entering your intake manifold was from, cylinder head or cylinders. But if truly the oil was from the cylinders, then replacing only the rings was a waste of money. Because for the cylinders to have worn that bad, the pistons and cylinder walls must have worn badly too (am not sure EW10 has piston liners). Trust me, 40k doesn't come close to rebuilding an EW10 engine with genuine parts. Do you know how much a set of genuine EW10 pistons cost? It cost 80k+ at a Peugeot dealership here. You may end up spending more than 150k to rebuild an EW10 with genuine parts. So, if one can't afford to rebuild these engines with genuine parts, it's better to buy a used/tokunbo egine then. I want to believe your engine must have been running very cold which led to the failure of the cylinders. Do you run only water in the cooling system? Did you remove the thermostat? Is your radiator fan spinning constantly as soon engine starts running ? What engine oil do you use? Ikenna |
Originalsly: DRL is not an American spec. It is a feature on many cars but it is not a must as in other countries where visibility is poor most of the year. That's not the case with Nigeria so I don't think it should be mandatory. What should be mandatory is the time during which headlights must be on...maybe 6pm to 6am. Other laws and safety practices can be more realistic. e.g New York State law makes it mandatory that if wipers are on (due to rain, sleet, hail, snow, whatever) headlights must be on. At OP...if you feel sleepy,...first sign...you should be thinking of pulling over to rest ASAP....not depending on the glare of oncoming headlights to keep you awake....that's putting your life at risk as well as others on or near the road.Op didnt say anything about feeling sleepy, I did. Is like you didnt read my earlier post well. Try and read it again. It could take 10 mins, 30 mins, 1 hour or more drive to get to a safe place or town on Nigeria highway for you to get some sleep when feeling sleepy behind the wheel suddenly while into a journey. I dont know often you ply on these Nigerian highways to understand what goes on. Because if you really think its safe to quickly pull over any part of our highways and sleep once you start feeling sleepy, then, I would say good luck to that. Most times, its better for people to fall victims or experience things through the hard way for them to learn. My Father was lucky to survive his own encounter, because he did not only nearly lost his vehicle, but his life as well. That was even back in the days the state of security has not gotten bad as it is today. Don't compare Nigerian highways with others, if you want to always get back to your loved ones in complete shape as you left. But then, it's free world. Whatever you feel is best or safe for you, please do. As for 6pm - 6am suggested time for compulsory Daytime Running Lights. Are you really serious? What does Daytime Running Light means? How come you are suggesting it to be operated when it's already dark? Like i suggested, take your car for a journey or a long drive in the day time. Do the observation I suggested. Whatever the result of your findings will then prove me wrong or right. Notwithstanding, what I was trying to point out in my earlier post is that the Daylight Running Light helps to prevent drivers on highway fallen asleep behind the wheels, just like Manual transmission helps too, by keeping one more active. About your "open mind" preaching. Sorry, am the wrong person to preach that to. My parents had different brand of cars i used when i became of age. I have used so many cars before i bought the first car in my name. Not just drive them, but go under the bonnets and under the cars with spanners. I have taught a lot people how to drive, mostly women, with different brand of cars, with both auto and manual transmissions. I drive my friends other car brands, including my colleagues cars in office that are not Lions. To summarize how open minded I am with cars, I bought a VW car for my dad early this year, used if for 2 weeks before i took it down to him. Am only telling you this for you to understand I had the chance to buy other brands before i bought my 3 Lions, but I still chose my Lions. Even if I become Innoson staff tomorrow, it wont erase what made me chose my Lions, inspite of other brands I have used, diagnosed and repaired before i got them. Being open minded is onething, but knowing excatly what I want and going for it, is another thing entirely. Ikenna |
