PoliticsRe: Ojukwu's Siblings Give Bianca Quit Notice From His Residence by ikooko(m): 1:37am On Oct 01, 2012
I wish Bianca can apply wisdom in this matter and move out of that property with her kids. Not out of cowardice but wisdoms. It's obvious her inlaws wanted it. Only the living celebrate, and I belief she is rich enough to maintain a decent lifestyle on her own.
Car TalkRe: What To Do When Your Brakes Fail? by ikooko(m): 6:36pm On Aug 09, 2012
Och77: If you are going on a top speed and brake fails you can decide within a split second to put you car in reverse gear to save your life at least. Engine will definitely get damaged.
Wrong move, this shows you are not a driver.
when your break fail suddenly:-
1. Be composed and don't panic.
2. Put on your hazard lights and headlights, if you can press your horn repeatedly to alert other road users.
3. For manual, change your gears repeatedly from 1-2-3-4 without pressing the accelerator. Repeat the process while manuvering the car.
4. if you must hit anything, ensure its not something that can cause injury to any person and at minimum cost.
5. Do not attempt to switch off your engine during this episode.
6. Pray in your mind.

PoliticsRe: Military Wont Overthrow GEJ’s Govt - IBB by ikooko(m): 12:35pm On Aug 01, 2012
Chinom: We are giving too much credit to the likes of IBB and OBJ. They no longer have any form of influence in the military. The new generation of military officers do not look up to them. Whether a coup happens or not is beyond their control.
We have a more refined armed forces now and GEJ is firmly in control.
You wish. Just pray they excercise positive impacts.

PoliticsRe: Sanusi Indicted Of Fraud & Forgery Over Bank Nationalization by ikooko(m):
ballabriggs: Firstly, when Intercontinental bank was having liquidity problems which was evident in its decision to increase its minimum balance for savings accounts to 10000 naira from 1000 naira without enough notice to depositors, Sanusi was not the CBN Governor then. These banks at the time were struggling to meet their obligations to depositors. Should they have been given more time thus inflicting serious financial harm on depositors? The truth is many bank assets are illiquid and thus cannot be sold off quickly to meet the demands of depositors without a substantial loss to the bank. In addition, also note the contagion effect of a bank failure on the macroeconomy as banks move assets among themselves. Should the CBN fold its arms and watch the situation degenerate into a financial crisis? Of course there are lessons to be learnt from the events in East Asia in the late 1990's.

I wonder what you mean by "a mans investment" when his capital has been eroded by a fall in the value of his assets. Even at that the shareholders were still allowed to hold some shares in these banks albeit at a small value due to the dillution of their holdings by the bailout of the CBN. This is similar to the case of Northern Rock where compensation for shares was at 5p per share in 07/08 compared to the value at flotation which was at 5 pounds per share.

On staff going home empty handed, I don't know of any staff who was laid off without receiving his redundancy payments. So you could please explain better.

Should we have put more funds in these banks where corporate governance and internal controls are flawed? A bank which was insider dominated? Is there no moral hazard in doing this? How do we enhance Financial reporting? What is our level of compliance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)? How do we ensure that listed entities disclose material items in annual reports? If a bank is in trouble, do we as creditors not deserve to know?

These are fundamental questions to be answered and the mediocre process by the house did not answer these questions. It was directed at persons rather than addressing the fundamental issues in the system.
mr ballabrigs, I ve been following your line of arguement on this issue and I suspect youre a member of accessbankplc or one of their paid media agents.
It is better to condemn illegality and desist from peddling false information about Ibplc. You may want to tell us at what point ibplc failled to honour depositors request for funds withdrawals, even when there was a "run" on the bank. I wonder what response you have to those times ibplc was opening accounts with zero balance and zero minimum balance.
Going by the circumstances surrounding the activities of CBN intervention on rescued banks since SLS took over, I dare you to proof me wrong that G8 were not victims of cabals decision on the banking industry while sls was chosen to implement their plans.
I agreed that the banks had some issues but I tell you ALL banks in this country are guilty of the offence they were nailled for. Even the badloans created by sls in firstbank was hurriedly managed to safe his face.
Now let's assume that the intervention was in good faith to safe our banking sector, is it proper to sell ibplc to accessbank when a sub of access owned ibplc 14billion debt. How come access became the prefer buyer.
PoliticsRe: Orji Cautions Tinubu Over Remarks by ikooko(m): 4:52pm On Jul 19, 2012
D-Explorer:
Tinubu does not in anyway have the right to talk about Abia's progress. The administration there is not ACN sponsored and why the provoking statement. It's obvious both of them are celebrated thieves, why is his kettle calling pot black. No doubt he made little progress in Lagos and Orji has got his records too even though not up to expectation. They both under-performed. Simple!
M U M U, how can you compare orji achievement in abia with tinubu in lagos. can your orji survive a month without federal allocation? Tinubu did and even begin the transformation of present day lagos.
well it's ok if you reason like this since youre still an apprentice at alaba market.

PoliticsRe: House Wants Ibru, Akingbola Stripped Of National Honours by ikooko(m):
... and bode george, tafa balogun, aondoaka, faruk lawan can keep their national honors.
They should first investigate what happened in our financial sectors and activities surrounding sls intervention.
well i dont have any confidence in our national assembly, they are thieves and touts but i honestly hope they will proof me wrong.
PoliticsRe: House Wants Ibru, Akingbola Stripped Of National Honours by ikooko(m): 12:36pm On Jul 18, 2012
chyseth: i have always said this, how come the likes of unity bank survived the CBN liquidity test of these banks and the likes of oceanic and intercontinental did not. if SLS has nothing to hide, why dont he submit his examination upon which his sack of the bank MDs was based.

it is just unfortunate that in this country, people only examine critical national issues on the bases of ethnicity.

Nationalising those three banks killed them even before they opened for business.
The truth is soludo quietly bail-out some banks while in office, unity bank was one of them. he simply injected funds into them and ensure overhaul of their management.
If you expect any report from SLS, youre wasting your time. do you know why? because the criteria he used for those banks, no bank in this country can survive it even FBN. so what did that tell you? the cabal wanted some people & some banks out of business.
SLS is not what he pretends to be nor practice what he preaches; in fact, he is just another m-o-d-a-f-o-k-a like faruk lawan. lazy bunch of golddiggers.
EducationRe: 50% Of Teachers In Sokoto Are Stark Illiterates Says UBEC by ikooko(m): 5:21pm On Jul 10, 2012
This is news to those who have not live in core northern states of nigeria. The %tage is far more than 50%. as a fact, most private nursary/pry schools use local language to teach their pupil. very few can be classified as schools. if youre unlucky to be transfered to core north by your employer and youre to relocate your family, the first real problem is serching for appropriate schools for your children.
do we really need to force them to be educated when the learned amongst them are ok with it afterall they have normadic education and their cow herdsmen can operate mobile phones.

I cannot take a bullet for myself and gej will not for anybody. all man to himself.
But seriously if gej can show us a little demonstration of LOVE & CARE, by tackling curruption and insecurity, so many people will be ready to defend him and if bullets comes along, they wount mind.

PoliticsRe: 'Dead' Oloolu Masquerade Storms Olubadan Palace by ikooko(m): 7:00pm On Jul 08, 2012
Lanspower: Dude lemme educate you a little. The Oloolu Masquerade in Ibadan traditionally should not be seen by women. However in those days when there was real Oloolu, the masquerade nor its followers never chased or beat women like the present day. There used to be a Mask which Oloolu wore and any woman who saw the mask either died immediately or got afflicted with a dreadful illness capable of taking her life else they appeased to the deity in Oloolu's compound in Ode-Aje Ibadan. Historical oral tradition has it that Oloolu used to be powerful that on wearing the mask, he could sense the presence or nearness of a woman and at that time he usually said "ogbo n run" connoting that something strange was happening. Rumour has it that the mask was sold cheaply to some white historians but I can confirm that I witnessed Oloolu's outings more than 5 times and he never wore no mask but put on the traditional Aso Oke and on none of these 5 times did he sense the presence of women.
While I am not supporting that Oloolu shouldn't have gone to Opoyeosa as warned by Islamic faithful in the area, I would have advised the man in the capacity of Oloolu never to disobey coz it is an open secret that the potency of the family's tradition which was highly feared in the past has disappeared and that Muslims will leave no stone unturned to fight for what they believe in. Meanwhile, the Muslims that attacked Oloolu were not guilty cos at this age nothing should restrict the free movement of women not even a tradition that has had its values and virtues sold out.
sorry dude, you cant educate me on yoruba tradition. I grew up at ibadan and am around 4 decades old. I witnessed the this tradition and similar ones around SW nigeria.
The point here is, why would one religion dictate to another? do you realised how many public holidays granted to muslims and xtians yearly? how would you react if traditional worshippers conplain about noise polution during call to worship by muslims and praise worships by xtians.
Respect and tolerance for all by all is the key to peace.

PoliticsRe: 'Dead' Oloolu Masquerade Storms Olubadan Palace by ikooko(m): 11:25am On Jul 06, 2012
Billyonaire: Masquerade and Islam, 2 sides of the same coin. Shame
...but what is wrong in this comment that wanted your neck. I guess this is based on simple religion classification which has nothing to do with belief, so why the attack?
As far as am concerned, there are four major religion in nigeria: christianity, islam, traditional worshippers and the atheist. I have no objection to what you practice or combo of them as long as youre not forcing your belief on others. afterall we have religion holidays for the first two,why not others; that to me is not fair for us to make foreign/imported believes superior over ours while majority practice idol worshipping secretly.
This type of fracas cant occur during masqurade or orisa festival in abeokuta or during osun festival in osogbo or olojo festival in ife.
my view is from cultural/tradition point or view. religion fanatics should learn to respect other religions apart from theirs.
PoliticsRe: Otedola Is Silly & Misguided For Not Talking To House Committee – Committee by ikooko(m): 12:22am On Jul 06, 2012
Demdem: I have no doubt in my mind that OBJ is otedollar's mentor.

Farook may not be clean but not these members of committee until there are reasons to doubt their integrity also. Against my desire otedollar cant dictate to the house how to conduct its business so the committee is right also (i would love a public investigation though). if truly the truth is with Otedollar (in addition to the presidency with him) and he is sincere, he will have no reason not to testify either in public or private knowing fully well that whatever the outcome of this investigation, this same presidency will have an option of either adopting it or not.
Anyday OBJ na dem dem papa.
but i disagree with you that otedola cannot chose what hearing he wants. clean or dirty farook loyalist will want to take their own pound of flesh and the head of this new committee is just another northerner, tell me what outcome do u expect?
in as much as i hate illegality, i love the way otedola is playing his cards in this episode. mind you, a giver of bribe in a sting operation is not guity of any offence as otherwise insinuated by some people.
BusinessRe: Soludo Versus Sanusi? Who Is The Better Reformer? by ikooko(m): 12:04am On Jul 06, 2012
buragidi: as if Sanusi himself is not corrupt or how do u xplain the sale of intercontinental Bank to Access Bank of which the MD/CEO of access Bank is one of the biggest Debtors of Intercontinental !
let even assume the sales was clean (which was not with access owing intercontinental 14 billion), does accessbank have the capacity to manage the balance sheet of intercontinental? NO. The whole balance sheet of access was not up to fixed asset size of intercontinental, not to talk of staff capacity. Despite all the trauma being experienced while the intercontinenalbank was being fraudulently sold, depositors funds was 3 times of access. The brandname 'inter' was just too powerful up till now.
I know, one day, the evils being perpetrated in our land will be brought to judgement; if not by man, definitely by GOD.
BusinessRe: Soludo Versus Sanusi? Who Is The Better Reformer? by ikooko(m): 11:44pm On Jul 05, 2012
chyket: Soludo was a better Governor than Sanusi. Most things Sanusi did,he could have done without playing to the gallery so that there will still be confidence in the system.Banking all over the world is about perception.
Sanusi could have eased out the Bank MDs without making a show of it and eventually inject some new funds and capital to enable a turnaround. In the US,when the Govt injected fresh funds into the wobbling banks, the still left the old management and today most of those banks are profitable.
Nigerian banking problems stemmed majorly from loose supervision from the CBN because if the supervision was tight enough, most of the financial scams in the industry would not have been successful
you see what most people dont know is that soludo bail out some banks and suggest replacement of key officers without making noise about it because of the multiplier effects on the economy.
but seriously NO BANK in nigeria is safe if the criteria used by sanusi was not actually targeted at some banks/MDs for political and tribal reasons. what sanusi did was painted those banks in a very bad color to win public support. the resultant implication is the huge bail out funds without recourse to established rules.
apart from the damage on economy, customers are telling their frustration tales each time they visit banking halls/ATM.
If not that we live in an insane country, SLS have no business in that office in the first instance.
BusinessRe: Soludo Versus Sanusi? Who Is The Better Reformer? by ikooko(m): 11:16pm On Jul 05, 2012
Joey82: sometimes i find it hard to blame sanusi for the job losses in banks
to be honest all the banks that were investigated were not safe and in little or no time, they would have gone under.
maybe sanusi was too much in a hurry to declare them red but the truth is they were red.
my only problem with soludo is why was is he lying to us that all the banks are robust and safe while in the real sense they werent.
as an umpire/referee, u dont have a right to being bias, once a foul is commited, u'v got to blow the whistle and the penalty follows, that's the only way to keep other players in check and on level playing ground.
You must be too young to understand that sanusi played tribalism and politics with nigerian banking sector and our economy at large.

SportsRe: Nat. Assembly To Honour Mikel Obi - Worth It? by ikooko(m):
BizBooks: So what do you want the Committee on Sports to be doing? By their very composition, they
are only concerned with Sports matters. If that is too trivial at this time, perhaps we
should be calling for a dissolution of that committee instead of heaping blames on them
for performing functions that fall within their purview.
mr man, are you sure you are educated? if yes, then your education is a waste based on your post. pls dont pass this type of reasoning to your children.
For your information, a committee cannot grant any honor without consesus of whole house and approval by president because a nass committee is not autonomous. hope u get it?
can you tell us what the so called committee has done to inprove sports in nigeria? Do even know many nigerians made history everyday worldwide in science, medicine, technology etc without recognition?
we should desist from celebrating misplaced priorities of our leaders.

akonucheinfo: hello naira landers, please am a little bit confuse here. pls i wan to know which is better, to buy fingerlins from a farm or to Hatch in your farm? Pls need answer and reasons.

My fish are eating regular, but am not yet certified with their growth rate. though, i should harvest them by July. I will like my next stocking to be SHOOTERS ONLY. dont know if i can get SHOOTERS from any Farm and how genuie it will be or Better still am thinking of Hatching in my farm. pls help me out oooo @jay, @ikooko, and friends i need your help. tnx
Well in recent time, a lot of fish farmers are concerned about getting good breeds and many are considering hatching by themselves but really hatching is a seperate line of fish business that requires expertise. except you own a big farm it's not worth the stress. Note that every procedures has it's adv & disadv.
What i would advice is to get fingerlings from a reputable hatchery, raise them in nursary tanks and collect the shooters for your ponds. The beauty in this is that ure certain ure not stocking ronts. although it cheeper in monetary terms but when you consider material inputs and efforts, it may not be cheep.
Be patient and pray for good harvest like in any other legitimate business.
