Am yet to get full details but if truely this was announced by finance minister, i'll want to know what business finance minister has with revocation of bank licence. |
Ha ha ha ha ha new vocabularies are being added to nigerian banking industry on daily basis. If old company dies, new one take over but bridge bank, never heard of it. can someone educate me? Maybe america has introduced it and it's working like SLS proposed bank. |
brixton:Now your comment gave you out that you are a teenager. The real Shrine was established by Fela himself, Femi his first son took over and did all that is necessary to re-establish and modernize it after his father's demise. That SHRINE represents not only Afro-Beat but SYMBOL of LIBERATION. Go ask your dad, he will tell you more. |
@poster, I think you may need to furnish us your criteria that qualifies for an Icon, maybe we can see it from your angle. Do you know why he changed his family name?- because Ransome is a slave name. He refused to be identified as a slave. Do you know why he married 27 wives in a day? Because government want to nail him for running a prostitution racket. The girls were his dancers. Do you know why he was bold enough to form his own political party? He actually formed a movement for the emancipation of human rights and better living. Government refused him because government was scared of him movement. Fela criticized so many issues, especially borrowed culture and practice. He was ORIGINAL not fake and he wanted everyone to be Original-- Nigerian--African. If this is your project topic as it appears to me, you need to read more and find a way to talk to people that had first hand experience about him. |
Yorubas are just too wise and matured for cheap publicity. We will however fight anyone who want to claim ownership of our land. |
^^^ The fact that someone is your role model des not mean you want to copy everything about that person. Look at FELA in this categories: Life style family carrier politics music human right religion education law Am sure you'll have issues with his lifestyle like any other person, but that to me is a personal issue. Critically speaking, his lifestyle & music made him thick and different. Belief me ABAMI-EDA is an icon. |
If not for bad leadership in this country, FELA's SHRINE & KALAKUTA REPUBLIC would have been a mecca and source of inspiration to anyone that belief in Human Right Struggles. FELA was a man who saw future beyond his time, He talked about public facilities and expose government looting. He talked about Religion and the associated hypocrisy; He talk about Military and Politics and the associated abuses; He talked about Human Right and Law. Above all, he was not a coward but a nationalist. Most of the issue he fought against more than 30yrs ago are the main challenges confronting our country today. If only we had listened and acted. I will advice you to get copies of Fela's Albums, listen to them carefully to get the messages; then come back and answer your question. |
political manuovaring, I refused to be deceived. Anyway d governor need a smart yoruba brain to sell his future agenda in d larger environment. What can d lazy mallam he sorrounded himself with do than sharing money. The commendation letter is just a sponsored advert. |
mbulela:You talk like this because you don't know what it mean to travel to Maiduguri to buy dry fish, you don't know what it mean to go Alkaleri to buy grains and goats, u don't know what it means to go to Kano to buy Wrappers and jewelries neither to you know what it means to travel to Numan to buy cows. Primarily these are economic activities and means of livelihood for those who engage in it. Personally, i have encounter robbery attacks at different times during the day, would you now suggest otherwise? Every regular traveler know that Owo-Okene-Lokoja axis is notorious both day and night for robbery attacks. our government knew about it and the police check points are just for daily collection not security. Really, placing a standby Helicopter in such axis and similar ones is not a bad idea like a poster suggested earlier. My friend, don't just sit down in your office/home, browsing NL and make such conclusion. Majority of night travelers don't have such luxury as you, yet they must survive the economic hardship. |
@poster You remind me of KWAM-1 song that says: Amun sá ni ilu eko, ko ku ni gbe, meaning lagos is a big pot of water that will never dry, anybody can come and drink but not to turn mario. |
Night journeys should not be looked in isolation, the reasons why people travel at night should be considered also. Traveling from PH or Lagos to North-East part of the country like Maiduguri, Yola or Jalingo take more than 24 hrs. Even when you leave your destination in the morning, you still have to travel at night no matter your speed. Look at the Roads we have in this country. The shortest link road btw SW & North is Ilorin-Jebba road which is a death trap because government refused to fix it. Lokoja road is not good either, you just cannot move freely on this roads. Meanwhile Nigerians don't have the luxury of time if they must do busines and survive. Majority of night travelers are small business owners who can not afford to fly or break their journey by implication of the size of their business and profit. Remember when Aero-Contractors introduced N5K as flight fee, so many people took that option; now all airline have jerk up their ticket fees, making it a rich man option. Where are the Highway patrol Teams and police check points on duty that night? How come the driver and his escort survive, could this be a conspiracy for whatever reason? That minister is just an opportunist who refused to imagine/feel the suffering of Nigerians. Really It's sad and disappointing press should make more noise on this. |
nawfia:Do you still have any problem? Now, pull your arse together and go get her friend without stress. There no better way to get a piece of action to seal your lips. Who know, it could be party in disguise. |
This is a double edged sword. either side, you get cut if mishandled. If you say it's non of your business and she makes it your business, what would you do? Just be matured and watch her moves. whatever the case, don't ever discuss this with anyone in your office. If she's comfortable with you about her little secret, expect recommendation from your HOD otherwise be expecting letter reprimands. When ladies are guilty, they are often aggressive, so watch it. |
^^^ yeah time will tell if love is really blind or is connected to gps. |
texazzpete:''Intense debate'' but not killing and destruction of property. We are on same page not misinformation. Now picture same issue in Nigeria. |
Yusufi:There is no problem really according to your analysis, but how will your analysis view the legalization of same sex marriage in this country to start with, yet such issue did not cause as much as a debate in US? How will your analysis support the inclusion of Islamic laws, Christianity laws, Traditional belief laws in Nigerian constitution? Do you understand why a country is called a sovereign state? Yusufi:Yusufi, look at it this way; would you have prefer an Igbo inscription on Nigeria currency instead of arabic? If you are a yoruba man, would you not be seen as admitting that other ethnic group are superior to yours? Historically, regional culture and language ''predate the advent of colonial masters'' but lingua franca was adopted for convenience sake because a sovereign state requires an official language to operate. Meanwhile, if for 50 years, other regions in the country tried hard to developed and educate their people, why not the North? Asians did not abandoned western education, they adopted it to develop their own and became a giant in technology. In my opinion other region are as passionate about their culture and race as the North but still gave peace a chance because of their education. Education is not about English language, it is about what you can do to improve quality of life. Based on what you wrote, i think you are insinuating that this country can no longer be ruled by same constitution. Would it not have made an intelligent sense if you had suggested SNC or cessation? |
You borrow N100-- sundry creditor- CR N100 Cash book N100- amount borrowed Cash book N97- payment for shirt settlement N2- for dad and mum. Your cash book have a balance of N1. which is the money u withhold. similarly, your sundry creditor will have a balance of N98. Check your pocket the money is there. |
@poster, I think you are more foolish than paranoid. A real man must know the different btw a husband and wife and their positions. You practically collapse that demarcation. It's a good thing to love and appreciate your wife. It's also good to give helping hands to your wife at house chores, but if not checked, you become the house boy. Really what helping hand does a full-house wife requires from her husband? You aren't seen nothing yet, wait until she gets a job, then you will realized your real position as house boy-1. I think you also need some form of extra-curricular activities, if you don't like going to joints you can attend regular mid-week services. This will reduce the attention she gets which I think will shape her up if truly she value your kindness. You may also ignore her meals for a couple of times, she'll surely want to know why and make corrections. |
Lagos again? it seems Edo people are indirectly canvassing for a Bendel-state inside Lagos like the Igbos in festac. |
tantan:You are right but you miss a point. Who set banking rates? CBN based on market realities. Now don't you agree that setting up a new bank to lessen the interest burden is hypocrisy, when CBN still set the rates? Remember the proposed banks will be financed based on fund generated from market realities. Don't you think this would slow down our sluggish economic growth and promote laziness when you know you lose nothing if your project fails. Remotely, the proposed bank is being advocated to cheat tax payers and favor his agenda. Johnpaul2k2:Sincerely, why do you think we should thank him? I really want to know. |
abes:let me throw more light and i assume you have the capability to understand it. Your comment indicate you have been making deductions based on hearsay, if you care to know, Islamic banking products are offered by commercial banks in Nigeria as part of their retail products, though they are not popular but if you ask, they will give you. The non-interest banking issue is not new to this country, ask scholars in Yoruba tradition. There exist the following: Aaro - This is a kind of a joint farming, whereby a set of people jointly cultivate a members farm and the procedure is rotated among members until harvest time without charging anyone. Sometimes i could be sort of a community arrangement. This practice still exist in core Yoruba villages. Esusu - This is a type of contribution where certain amount of money is contributed and pool together by members for the popuse of a project or business without any interest. members take turn to enjoy the lump sum. I do not know of other regions, but i belief such arrangements is not limited to the Yorubas. My take is this, if we have such arrangements existing even before religion, why do anyone make a hero out of it? |
Hello guys, i don't know if anyone has read a copy of CBN ACT? I did and i found this. If this is correct, then SLS is either acting in ignorance or deliberate. Supplement to Official Gazette Extraordinary No. 26, Vol. 78, 25th June, 1991 – Part A CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA DECREE 1991 50. - Except with the written consent of the Governor, no bank shall hereafter be registered under the provisions of any Federal legislation by a name which includes any of the words “Central”, “Federal”, “Federation”, “National”, “Nigerian”, “Reserve”, “State”, “Christian”, “Islamic, “Moslem”, “Quaranic” or “Biblical”. http://www.cenbank.org/out/publications/bsd/1991/cbnact.pdf |
Remii:kindly ensure to quote relevant laws subsequently - These sections relates to education and not banking. |
tpia@:am sure you can do better than this. you have not even seen read my manifesto, yet you criticize me this much. sorry, stop sulking. Bashy wetin you do tpia reach dis level? |
let the groove begin, the more the merrier. but i prefer SANGO BANK OF NIGERIA. ![]() |
Bashy, thanks for holding forth you must have dealt badly with that tpia and d likes, hope u kno wound her too much? |
Dikyson:If you are so passionate about preaching, kindly take a missionary trip to Afghanistan. Is the the teaching you required when you are about to be taken for a ride, or you think you will have option to preach openly when your country is completely islamized. Think. |
agitator:Your basis of comparison is greatly flawed. It will do you a whole lot of good to equip yourself with Laws guiding the establishment of schools and the Laws guiding the establishment of banks in the country. Or do you need any help to understand that Education and Banking are two different things? |
luke 23:34 ''father forgive then for they know not what they do'' |
No doubt there is a need for more states in SW especially the one that can take some pressure off Lagos state. Note that Ikorodu and Epe are part of the Ijebu empire who are also Lagosians, and in the past, there were attempts for the creation of Ijebu State. Really, creating additional state out of Lagos & Ogun states would be a welcome idea, this may remotely resolve part of the ecologocal/environmetal challenges facing Lagos state, while boosting the economic advantage of the new state but certainly not a FESTAC STATE. Can anyone really educate me on the reasons why the Land Decree Act was reviewed in Lagos? I think it was a strategic plan in advance to check the future excesses of Easterners and Northerners in Yoruba land. If you believed that Lagos is a no man's land, sorry it does not apply in this regard. If there is a Yoruba problem, certainly not an Ibo trader will fix it for us. |
Well am waiting for INEC to give sincere reasons but if it has anything to do with conduct of last election, then the election they conducted should be reviewed. There is no point upholding the elections they conducted while relieving them of their jobs; to me it doesn't add up. |
