They are fighting for their pockets not the nation. Where is the source of his data? AGF or NNPC. the caption should have been: SENATE SET TO LEGALLY REQUEST FOR SHARE OF FUEL SUBSIDY LOOT FROM NNPC. |
ronkebp:Ronke long time, but did you really typed this? this is a sharp deviation on your position about men on https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-710353.0.html. back to the topic, the woman is the one complaining, so she either shape-in or chip-out; the husband can not be as bad as she claimed. |
The woman in the story is a liar. She became sexually lazy and want to pin it on her husband instead of facing the issue. Such sexual tendencies does not develop overnight, and the signs cannot be that hidden before marriage. A man with such libido will probably have numerous chicks outside that planing a 2nd wife. As a matter of fact, some women loose interest in love making after childbirth, luckily there is a medical solution to it. |
We are not sure if the woman is the person that is sexually lazy and refused to adjust to her husband's demands. she probably must have exaggerated her husband's situation anyway. If she is not ready to satisfy her husband, she should just grant the permission for 2nd wife. If the man really wanted a 2nd wife for this reason, honestly the wife will be the last person to know about it. |
largie:Slap him, kick him, punch him, if you like stab him. I hope this get you safely to your Father's house and not hospital. Only a madman beat up his wife/girlfriend, but if a man is mad enough to do that, quickly look for an escape route; fight back will only cause you more harm. |
ndu_chucks:My analogy will be more meaningful to those that understand the mentality of Nigerian people, not someone using a literate advance society as a yard stick to analyze us. Since you are more developed, politically and mentally, kindly educate us on the following: 1) The rights of every Nigerian being protected on issue that is external to our domestic problem. 2) The right being protected in carrying placard with inciting inscription or ''within the law'' in your quote relates to death threat to fellow human. You refused to appreciate the challenges we have in terms of insecurity and religious bigotry in recent times and the likely implication such demonstration could lead to. There are two issues that I can deduce from your posts; It is either your are not living in Nigeria and lack the first hand knowledge of our mentality or You are just reading too much theories that is not applicable to us. |
^^^^ the irony is that we practice our traditional religion secretly (directly/indirectly) while parading ourselves in public as true Christians/Muslims. |
ndu_chucks:Chucks, I actually did not get your point until this posts, but let me make some observations on your stance based on a simple analysis. If you and your friend are in a room and there is a sudden fire accident and both of you have fire on you; would you ignore the fire in your body to assist your friend? If your response is NO, it means that no matter how much you love your friend, you love yourself more. The demonstration in Kano however is the other way round. List challenges in this country, unstable electricity, bad roads, high pump price, poor health facility, sub standard education, insecurity, poverty, corruption etc etc. Choosing Israel/Palestine problem ahead of any of our problem is nothing but insensitivity to personal problems which is a misplaced priority. Would you support similar demonstration in Kano in favor of Israel, since everyone has a fundamental right to do so. Are you not aware that exercising human rights has it's own limitations? Do people even get clearance from authorities before embarking on this type of demonstration this days? Do you imagine what public opinion would have been if the demonstration is targeted at addressing our problems in Nigeria. |
Nigerians possessed unparalleled survival instincts. Never give up. I pray we can channel this towards positive means always. |
haka_nai:she probably must have gotten her own share, which makes it impossible to recover anything? |
blackpanda:If truly you are conducting a research on this issue, then you still have a long way to go as the facts you have gathered is greatly incomplete. You can not generalize on the issue of dowry in African. In Yoruba-land for example, Dowry is part of our culture and it is traditionally bound; the practice however is that the groom will pay the dowry but the dowry is usually returned to the bride&groom in the presence of their parent and saying that they have not sold their daughter but given to him to love and cared for. @poster. The issue of marriage is both moral and religious, contrary to general believe, a married woman is not allowed to return to your parent house because your parent will be seen as a failure who has not raised a Godly/obedient daughter and that your parent are supporting your marriage failure contrary to the principle of marriage set by God. Make no mistake, marriage is a battle field if you want it to work. There are bound to be heated issues, challenges etc. that is why in traditional Yoruba marriage arrangement the wife is handed over to the husband family. In times of serious conflicts, there are procedures for resolving it. Yes you may run to your parent house if you have tried all you can and you are not getting result especially where there is a threat to your life, children or your future , but care must be exercised in this option. You must have reported to your husband parents. This however should be seen as a temporary option pending the resolution by both families. Mind you nobody forced you to marry the man in the first instance. @poster, the golden question is; do you want to live your marital life as a westerner or an African woman? The choice is yours, but that your idea of running to your mum's house is better practice in the oyinbo-land. With all sense of seriousness, what type of women will welcome her married daughter back into her home permanently? This issue has not in any way subjected women to second class citizen, but women must carefully understand that their husband is their heads if they want love and care in return. If you disagree with this, then don't ever get married. |
This is the type of people that thinks they have all it takes to rule this country; what a disgrace. Knowing BABA's antecedent, no amount of apology can eraze his purnishment. FOOL FANI KAYODE. |
^^^^^^^ sorry for the duplicated part. I must have press a button that caused that while typing on my phone. |
@GARETH & manny4life i really appreciate your matured contribution. @alj_harem one would have expected a better analysis from you being a northerner. I know a couple of northern states that better qualfied than flashy southern states. For me i'll rather look at development of a state in terms of current development in the contry, this is the reason why i agree more with manny4life and differ with GARETH. Development in Nigerian context. I will exclude lagos and abuja because of capital influences and no other states in their class. take oyo state for instance, we have ibadan ogbomosho oyo-town saki igbo-ora igboho oluyole, these places are developed. Take ogun state we have ijebu abeokuta ota shagamu igbogila ilaro ayetoro odeda as developed. same analysis for ondo and ekiti state. Come to osun state, places like oshogbo ilesha ikirun iwo ife are developed. In kaduna state. zaria kaduna jaji kafancha are well developed. I know place like kura wudil birni-gudu all in kano state are also developed. borno state bauchi state and plateau state have developed cities apart from their state capital. We are likely to want to conclude that presence of beautifully painted houses with lawns and beutiful roadnetwork constitute development but any town with accessable road, sizeable population and means of livelyhood that can sustain that population should qualify as developed since lack electricity and water are common occurence every part of this country.eloped. ^^^^^^^ are u saying they are still playing |
edicolove:These are the most important of his achievements ironically those are his offenses. I agreed to all his shortcomings. |
omo_to_dun:kai, you must have stayed toooo loooooong in that your Abule muwonleru to ask this question. even if you are not in Nigeria to have first habd experience, at least you can read from NL forum. Well opening a new thread for their achievements of IBB and OBJ will be a perfect idea. That will provide more details. |
IBB must have been very angry because OBJ schemed him out and refused to hand over power to him. But why did IBB insulted OBJ but discrediting his regime, was he seeking relevance or what? If am to choose the fair devil among them, OBJ all the way. |
passyjango:Since you're so informed and independent minded, kindly educate us based on your perspective why you think IBB is better than OBJ. Don't tell us that IBB suffer from press, we are all witnesses to what happened to pressmen and media houses during IBB reign, OBJ suffer far more under democracy. Don't tell me you're too young to remember. |
bouzymill:You missed the point, really I don't want to appear as wasting my time explaining to you. Nigeria is a secular state, it is misnomer for the CBN governor to be seen as nonsecular. If he wants to introduce non-interest model in the banking sector fine but anything aside that is an aberration. Mind you banks have packaged non-interest loans for customers that requested for it. Islamic bank have existed in this country prior to SLS time but they have existed within the laws of the land. It is the duty of those that wants Islamic banking to propagate it not CBN governor. You may want to update yourself with introduction and implementation of Islamic banking in other secular nations and compare it with our case. This will give you more understanding of my point. |
IBB just told us in plane language that he would have stolen 10 times more than he did and probably kill more people. I assume IBB is more knowledgeable and smart, but with this comparison I guess I must have overacted him. How can he compare two regimes without considering the economic indices. Anyway he was just a military head. If his only basis of comparison is the price of crude oil, then i can conclude that he is smarter at looting than management. If we can obtain statistics of value of Naira ( Time value of money with element of inflation) during his tenure and OBJ's, it will be glaring that OBJ is far more prudent and has achieve more than IBB in all economic aspect. He talked about constructing nuclear power plant when we have bad maintenance culture. Whereas other countries are reviewing their policies on nuclear plants due to Japan experience. OBJ did the necessary on electricity Umoru just messed it up with cash starvation for reasons known to him. |
IBB- HBD As you celebrate a remarkable 70th birthday as a statesman. May the Lord cause you to know the Truth, Speak the Truth and Practice the Truth before your time. WISH YOU LONG LIFE AND GOOD HEALTH. |
bouzymill (m) Internet Posts: 328 Re: Cbn Gov Sanusi Responds To Accusations He Is BigotMake no mistake, the concept is not being viewed as Islamic but it is being introduced from a religious point. Going by the concept and implementation of ''Islamic Banking'' since SLS started it, would you consider it to be faulty or perfect? Non-interest banking concept is not only entrenched in major religions in this country, it is part of our culture. The issue that bother the mind is why SLS decided to give it a religious coloration and make it a national issue. Please ponder on this from a neutral position if you can. If he is strictly championing the introduction of a Non-interest banking unadulterated and set up committee for it, he would have appeared to be a nationalist. Telling us that his Islamic banking is for everyone is just a selling point and a fraud. Consider the BOD, staff recruitment, business engagements, mode of operation etc. How do you see a non-Muslim ''infidel'' to be part of it when beliefs are different? I don't care what religion you practice or where you come from. I want to love and respect you as a brother/Nigerian/African but once I sense any tribal or religion undertone, I retrace my stance; that is what happened on this issue. If JAIZ bank has a practicing license for several years now, why didn't the rich/wealthy Muslims work together, do business with it and ensure its success? Why didn't the northern states who believed in it use their monthly allocations to promote it? Why are they trying to utilize national fund for it propagation? To be honest with ourselves, Nigerians will only be interested in obtaining loans from such bank and not deposit our funds in it, and I see a lot of loan diversion even from my Muslim brothers. Another challenge is that we compare this country with so many successful countries which is a wrong notion {not in the introduction though but implementation}. The best concept in the world when applied is usually a failure in our case. besides success of concept X in country A does not guarantee success in country B. meaning that even the non-interest banking concept may not return the expected success. |
UNCLE SHEGE! General of Generals; Chairman of Chairmen; The man I hate to love. He singlehandedly re-apportion the political power bloc in this country and put to death the ''Born to Rule'' syndrome. IMO, that is the most important of his achievements. It may take you several years to admit, but you will. |
nagoma:I get your point and i tried to look at the issue from a neutral point really. If he had promised not to challenge the election outcome, and he change his mind, it is not illegal, besides, his party can take it up on his behalf. My stance is that nobody/party must be allowed to stampede anybody/party within the provision of the law. |
kulutempa:Why do we have so much corruption in Nigeria? because federation account is our ''Mama Soup'' and we are all entitled to it, yes naturally but the notion is wrong. When leaders assume office, they sees it as the turn of their state or region to steal from federal purse to be benefit of few rather than contribute to her growth. Accountability will be more effective if we have fewer subjects to deal with. Remotely it will addressed tribal sentiments. Please note that you can only talk of accountability when your leader believed is riding under your mandate in the position he occupies if not, you are just another noisemaker; besides, how do you hold Ministry of Agriculture accountable for not supplying fertilizer to farmer in a particular region or Minister of Transportation for ignoring bad federal-roads in your state? Another advantage is that development will be more nuclear to the advantage of local governments. and it will bring about healthy competition among the states. If there is little or nothing to share from the center, each states will take the path of creativity and self sufficiency in the natural resources in her possession. This will be similar to the economic growth recorded when Nigeria operated regional government. |
Peeps, let us please desist from the habit of insult to elders in the guise of freedom of speech. if we feel strongly about their actions constructive criticism in an educative and matured manner will be more appropriate. Really I see no reason why he should not ask for justice if he can produce evidence. It is part of action to fight corruption. We have seen cases where court overturn election results after many years. It is the turn of Buhari today, tomorrow might be the turn of your favorite candidate to be denied justice. Afterall my brother in Aso Rock is too passive for a volatile terrain like Nigeria. I am not sure of any other states, but if any party is expected to challenge election result surely not CPC in Lagos or any other SW states. IMO it would have been more strategic to challenge PDP won states to prove his point. |
Thanks ekt but do we need world bank to tell us this, No? even a blind man in Nigeria can smell the problems. Suggested solution would have been more appropriate in this regard. All government agencies are more corrupt than corruption itself and anti graft agencies are their puppets. The crop of politicians we have in NA are opportunist with nothing to offer. I am in support of any form of government that will limits the powers and resources that accumulate to the federal government. |
kalokalo:Kalokalo, permit me to borrow your phrase that ''I respectfully disagree'' with the above. If our ancestors were self sufficient because they engaged in production of their needs using primitive methods. I would rather say they achieved that by reason of the population and technological development in their time. Times have changed, the need then and now are not the same. Like i suggested in my earlier post, Nigerians must be ready to go back to agrarian era, where everyone must produce first for self sufficiency, after which we'll think of commercial production; that is commercial production, preservation, marketing and export. some of these products will serve as raw materials for local industries and the success story will be endless but you agree with me that stable power and good roads are vital/strategic to achieve the desired economic growth in modern times. Take a trip to Sharada and Bompai industrial estates in Kano, go to Ilupeju industrial estate in Lagos, or Oluyole industrial estate in Ibadan. These places were mere shadows of what they use to be in the past. several company has been closed, those still in production were producing sub optimally. Even if we assume that cost of fund and inflation are stable, these companies can no longer cope with the increasing cost of production caused by power (electricity and fueling) and Transportation. Another issue is that most of the giant companies in this country are in the real sense marketers of imported goods and not producers. Only few engage in real production. If going back into farming can solve part of problems, I think government can kick start it using the NYSC scheme at as tool to achieve this rather than sending graduate into already saturated labor market. It will address part of the unemployment and production challenges. I remember as a secondary school pupil, agric practical was compulsory for everyone, this is separate from the main school farm with food crops and livestocks in it's stable. If only farming can be made compulsory to all adults in this country, just imagine the annual output by reason of our population and vast agricultural friendly soil. |
In as much as i want to agree with this thread on its merits, there are few more important issue that require immediate consideration before taking an investment risk in this country, except one is very close to the seat of power where you can get bail out funds. 1) We require an enabling environment before investment. Take for instance issue of power and road networks; the effects of these have direct impact on the cost of production and pricing. In most cases, we erroneously assume that private sector investment is same thing as running a bureau--De--change business, NO. 2) We require capital in the form of funds, equipments, logistics, manpower and infrastructure. One may be tempted to quickly conclude that interest-free-banking-model would take care of this but I bet to argue to the contrary. IMO it is a socialist idea to redistribute income and wealth but on the long run will be seen supporting capitalist ideas more than the socialist ideas especially in this country. 3) Cost of capital and inflation, the effect of these due alone has crippled several companies, and it's a major challenge to investors. I think an investor needs guarantee on a stable and downward trend on these duo. It will interest a foreign investor if he can calculate his risk margin with some level of certainty. In your example, apart from ICT, pension scheme, health scheme are all forms of insurance, however what % of the population are beneficiary of these schemes. All these schemes have their politics and corruption. Sincerely IMO, there is a portion of development that is missing in the history of this country and not until we are ready to adjust it, it may take us more than necessary to get industrialized. That portion is the agrarian revolution which can be fine tuned for modern realities. |
Oh yes!!!! infact, plenty of times,
