So it should be clear to you that she pays her expected amount into the treasury of the monarch. Do you have any other issues that you still do not understand? Young man, mind the way you put your questions forward. Thanks!
So you expect the monarchs to build hospitals, roads, schools from the peanuts paid to them by the local (State) governments right? Perhaps, you think every local government in Nigeria is part of an Emirate. |

Amarabae: When last have we seen or heard about a monarch building a primary or secondary school for his people or a primary healthcare centre for his people? Its it all about wearing chieftaincy or agbada with bead and always mingling with corrupt politicians. Monarchs should build schools, healthcare centres, roads for their people right? I believe there's a monarch in the town, city you are living, and you are earning money right? Now, how many percentage of your earnings have you paid into the treasury of that Monarch? |

I said eye witness account, not a wrong citation and dem say dem say account. It was not built by Julius Berger. The part from Adeniji Adele to Ebute-Metta could be from Julius Berger, but not the longest part from Ebute-Metta to Oworo. That was definitely without an aorta of doubt built by an Italian Construction company. Every Bridge built by Julius Berger always has a B stamp on it. You won't find B on the section between Ebute-Metta and Oworo, but an S being the initial of the company that built it.
Mind you, the section from Adeniji Adele to Yaba was in use many many years before the construction of the section from Ebute-Metta to Oworo began. The sections were not built at the same time. |

Phagyrhe: 2. Third Mainland Bridge
Do you know the official name of third mainland bridge? I bet many of you do not know it...lol. It is officially known as Ibrahim Babangida bridge. This particular bridge is the king of all bridges in Nigeria. When you talk about Lagos, you talk about this bridge. It is a vehicular bridge that link Lagos Island to the city mainland and was constructed by Julius Berger. The third mainland bridge, which is about 11.8km long, is the longest bridge in Nigeria and it is one of the three bridges linking the city. It took over 11 years to finish construction. The total cost of the bridge is unknown.
For six years, 1990-1996, third mainland bridge was the longest bridge in Africa. It was dethroned as king of Africa's bridges by the 22km long "6th October bridge" in Cairo, Egypt. The third mainland bridge was not contructed by Julius Berger. At least not the part from Ebute Metta to Oworonsoki. This was built by an Italian firm whose name (beginning with S, not STRABAG) has eluded my memory now. This is an eye witness account. I used to canoe during the time of construction from Ogudu enroute to Marina along the contruction site. That was when the waters was still very clean, and the shanties was only in Makoko, and not Bariga and Oworonsoki water fronts like today. |

Well it's equally fallacious to think that everyone on Nairaland went to school in the age of the internet. mmsen: Hausa money changers are no longer Nigerian?
You're in no position to tell anyone about what they should do when you blatantly contradict yourself in one single post. Hey, I believe you have issues understanding English, else you won't accuse me of contradicting myself. However, I am not surprised, when even the Nigerian high politics is also susceptible to misinterpreting straightforward and simple English and arithmetic. It's a damned fact that a lot of Nigerians don't understand the concept of service. It's also very factual that there's a lot that can be learned from the Hausa foreign exchange dealers regarding honesty, building a relationship with customers etc.
Anyway, don't be worked up, because even people that live far away from Africa know that Nigeria is fantastically customer unfriendly among other shortcomings. You can decide to close your eyes to the issue, but that won't make the problem disappear. Wish you a refreshing and enlightening weekend. |

You said Nigerians have no business etiquette then use the Hausas as an example as to how it should be done.
Please be more precise with your language. I think you should not only read, but read properly. I don't think I wrote generically about the Hausa, but a specific set of Hausas, found at a specific location, doing a very specific business. Now tell, what is hard for you to understand? |
Politics › Re: South Africa's Economy Falls To Third Behind Nigeria, Egypt by Ilaje44(m): 3:24pm On May 13, 2016 |
oduastates: Nigeria need to get power supply sorted as soon as possible. With power, we can actually give China, India and the rest a run for their money. We cannot do it the south Korean way. What Nigeria can latch on to is outsourcing in manufacturing( especially textiles), IT services, telesales and customers services. I like your ideas, but Nigeria really has to invest in human capital development to be competitive at all. A lot of Nigerians feel they are doing you a favour even though you are the one paying exhorbitant prices for their services. They have no sense of customer care, and they don't understand the simple notion of impressing customers to make them return for further purchases. They rather think of now and here, which is why it's easy for them to cheat their customers without remorse. There's a lot business people can learn from the Hausa Bureau De change guys in Oja Alade / Allen Avenue. They treat you nicely, are honest and want you to come back.
Doing business in Nigeria is among the worst experience in the world. Government bottlenecks and duplication of offices and taxes are among other menaces that have to be dealt with for us to be internationally competitive. |

TPAND: See what I said about brains obviously not being in people's head. Will you blame misplaced priorities and inability to pay salaries on government part as wholistic economic woe of the state.
To lambast your point, have you heard about the city called Ordos. Bayelsans predominantly are civil servants. You can barely count up to 10 private organizations in that state. So just because the government owes salary means their economy is bad. Bayelsa never attracts investors in anyway. It still doesn't spell bad economy. Listen to yourself again, and reflect on the person who's not using his brain very well.
You yourself said Bayelsa is a civil servant state with barely 10 private organizations in there. Meaning, the economy of the state depends very much on Government projects and paying their workers. And this government has been unable to pay workers for months now, yet you in your wisdom thinks that that economy is still robust and not affected by the macro economic happenings?
Can you please explain this incredible contradiction to me?

GudluckIBB: Bayelsa that is not even as big as Yaba local govt area is supposed to be the most developed state in Nigeria given its size, small population and oil derivation they collect.
If jonathan has taken money illegally from CBN and use it to develop bayelsa to be like dubai, Nigerians would have pardoned him. But he was a vice president, acting president and president, yet his people don't have drinking water and passable road.
And he's busy telling the world that part of his achievement was that he meet dangote as the rishest man in Nigeria and when he got into power, dangote became the rishest man in Africa. Is that an aChievememt?
I was expecting him to list his major achievement as uprgrading his state to a world class city like dubai and china.
Even an helipad, he didn't build in his town, meanwhile, the man they call "dullard" has built an helipad in daura in his first 3 months in office.
Jonathan is a shame.
Nonsense! That's an Incredible nay incredulous statement from you. The whole of Lagos State is not half as big as Bayelsa. I'd advice that you get conversant with the geography of Nigeria. |
