Sagamite: No 1, majority of homosexuals do want gay marriage to be legalised. Because they are not yet saying it is not proof they don't want it. Given the right atmosphere, they will fight vigorously for it. And they are insidiously planning to create that "right atmosphere. They have already successfully conned their way in doing this in some countries. Such eventuality is what this law is preempting.
No 2, the West IS asking for Nigeria and other countries to follow their path which includes legalisation of homosexual marriage. So you are wrong, somebody is.
No 3, the UK has legalised homosexual marriage or it is in a process of irreversible eventuality.
No 4, there is no evidence of homosexuals' lives in Nigeria being abused in a disproportionate manner to the standard of Nigerian law enforcement, so I don't know what safeguarding you are talking about. I meant gay people in Nigeria. The UK hasn't legalized gay marriage. The West doesn't want us to follow in their footsteps, if so, they would have been advocating for some states to start legalizing same sex marriage which is what is happening the us. They just want African leaders to agree that all men are created equal and one's sexual orientation shouldn't be a crime. Gay people are stigmatized every day. In fact, if you so much as SEEM EFFEMINATE, people will laugh at you, taunt you for it, judge you for it and act against you for it. I've seen a guy get bashed by a group of guys because they think he's gay. If that isn't stigmatization, what is? |

the good son: ok you just tried to cheapen me here to boost your point i can see why for you defeat is not an option you have to win at the least to keep your conviction i can not guess your sexuality but i can tell you know gay people,it is wrong of me to try to push my views on people it is also wrong of you to call me small minded, what do you think i am, a low life of a guy who will consent to casual sax man you should not place me in a category gay relationship to me is not only evil but morally wrong its just like coke you take it you get high and later what. I did not say that YOU have casual sex. I just said that you've had sex with girls and gay sex isn't much different from what you did. Good for you. You find gay sex morally repulsive and hetro sex is 'normal', right? That's your own conviction. Don't force it on others, don't harm others with it. |

the good son: no you are wrong gay sex harms the body soul and spirit, but i like to look at it from a more scientific approach gay sex alienates the individual from reality what is reality the real world of man and woman if that world vanishes so also does humanity and homo endorsement is oine step towards it,try and visaulize it man. That doesn't make sense. And yes, I tried visualizing it. But it still doesn't make any sense. Gay sex shifts reality? What is reality? I have a feeling reality is what YOU feel it should be, and so every other thing is alien to you. Personally, I think casual sex is crazy and somewhat stupid. But that's just me. I know it'd be wrong to push MY belief on other people which is why I cry WOLF everytime I see people talk about it. Reality is a philosophical term. A term which we get into we won't get done anytime soon. But the fact is the gay sex doesn't alter it any way. Yes, a lot of people don't understand why two guys would fall in love with each other, and you'll probably never will. But I tell you, there isn't much that's more real that love and human connection through emotion. Being gay is one of them. A very natural thing. Finally, I've now know two things about you. Firstly, you're small minded. For you, 1+1=2 and you'll never believe that 1+1 can = 1. Secondly, for some reason, you have a personal history with homosexuality. I don't know what, but you need to stand against gay sex is beyond religious. It's is very personal. Peace. |

Gay sex doesn't hurt anybody. Murderers killed somebody. Terrorists kill by the hundreds. But people who engage sex don't harm you in anyway. They can't kill you with their dick or mouth. There isn't a lot of difference between what they do and what you do with those girls |

Sighs. Gay people don't want gay marriage to be legalized. They just want the law makers to uphold already existing laws that safeguard their human life. Nobody is asking Nigeria to legalize marriage between people of the same sex, yet. They're just asking that the government safeguard human rights and help make sure that people aren't stigmatized or killed because of their sexuality. Both the UK and the US haven't legalized gay marriage on the Federal level. But they've erected laws that make it a crime to stigmatize a gay person. That's what they want us to do, to treat gay people as the human begins they are. |

I don't think you understand what konji is, what age did you start having boners ?
they won't shag except they really want to be good to their selves. which seldom occurs I started having erections years before I turned sixteen but I never had sex (and in some sense, still hasn't). I don't like it when people thing that when they get Hot, they must have sex. I knew that it wasn't right for me to have sex then. Sex clouds judgement, especially for people that young. I thank God I knew that. Now, if most teenagers know that, they would understand sex doesn't exactly define intimacy. If you get Hot, instead of having sex, please self service. You'll thank me for it in the long run. |

It isn't wrong. It's just unusual. Most girls like to wooed. Even though they won't date the guy, they like the feeling of being wanted, being attracted to. Anyway, if I was into girls, I'd really like to go out with a girl that asked me. It means she's quite courageous and somewhat independent. I'd like her for that. But if I'm not into girls I'd go out with her all right (like I mentioned, I like her courage) but tell her I'm not interested. |
Family › Re: teenager by Illuminatus(m): 4:52pm On Oct 22, 2013 |
It is a hard treacherous work. You'll need lots of patience and a good sense of judgement to deal with them. You'll to give and show them lots of love and attention. Spend time with them. Talk with them. Understand them. If they're teenagers, you'll have to give them sort of independence and a lot of sex talk (this is important). Sometimes you should let them learn from their own mistakes. It is harder raising a girl than a boy. You've got to pay much attention on the girls. Give them sort of allowance. Money is important to them. Above all, understand that they're your children. Love them no matter what. And do whatever you can to protect them, even from themselves. |

What's wrong with sixteen year olds having boyfriends? I don't see anything particularly wrong with that. As long as the boy is someone her age and they both respect and enjoy each others company, I don't have a problem with that. What I have a problem with is sixteen year olds becoming sexually active. Davo93: First and foremost,a let me congratulate my fellow contestants that were lucky enough to make it through to the next round, you guys are great!
I also felicitate with those of us that were not able to move beyond this stage, we tried our best but its just that everyone cannot be a winner. It will go down history lane that we are the pioneer contestants. Most of us were still able to bring up a nice piece despite a lot of unfavourable factors that were highlighted to have affected our input. Let us cheer ourselves!
The clean jobs done by the Judges cannot be left out without been appreciated. You created time for yourself to scrutinize on large write up and assessed it appropriately. I say thank you!
The organisers too rock especially Mr Fynestboi, the brain behind this project.
I want to charge all contestants to try as much as possible to build on the successes and challenges in this edition to build self. I personally have learnt a lot from the Judges reports on my work especially on how referencing should be applied in articles. I want to implore the rest of us to do thesame.
I wish the last four friends the very best of luck and looking forward to next year's edition if God permits. Thanks. Well said. Though kinda long . |

uj_sizzle: Santolly4Jesus I loved your essay. Your use of metaphors was impressive, but you should watch the use of caps to begin words in a sentence especially when they don't necessarily need to be stressed or highlighted. Next time use inverted commas or write in italics. The body of your work however was somewhat scanty. You had few points, and i feel with more research you could have done better. Good attempt all the same.
Illuminatus You also impressed me. I don't have much to say except WATCH THOSE PARAGRAPHS.
Elliontwiz1 OMA4U Oluwatola5 Elliotwiz avoid the excessive use of contractions(they've, aren't, ain't etc).
The body of your essays were lacking because you somehow found it of more importance to turn your work to a history/religious(OMA4U) class, and then you forgot the importance of highlighting your points and developing each of them before solidifying your stance with examples relating to each individual point.
OMA4U, when next you want to introduce the God factor into your essay, let it enter naturally in each point and use it to your own advantage. It's better than starting off totally with it, thereby boring or putting off those who don't subscribe to your Godly views. Oluwatola5, learn the meaning, use, and spelling of words before applying them.
Don_Salvy The body of your work left a lot to be desired. It was literally 'empty' to say the least. You also need to avoid excessive use of contractions. However, your examples were really good and carried across the message.
Davo93 and [Mazi_Omenuko[/b] You two deserve a standing ovation. I found your essays very educative and on point. You did an intensive research on your subject, and went further to familiarise yourself with some of your opponents argument which you debunked flawlessly...beautiful!
Davo, you however need to watch those spellings and paragraphs.
Mazi_Omenuko, watch those tenses. Thanks! |

Obinoscopy: Hi everyone, how is our Sunday going? Hope all the Christians went to church today? And I hope all our Muslim brothers and sisters are resting well in preparation for work tomorrow?
I will be appraising the essays of several contestants of this first of a kind educational debate. I must say that I had high expectations from our contestants. I had hoped to learn a few things from their essays. I must admit they met my expectations to some level and I did learn a lot from their work, but I must be quick to add that there is still room for improvements. One of the major setbacks of most of the contestants work was the paucity of standard reference materials. Some that managed to use, were referencing Wikipedia which is very wrong. But, all in all, they tried. It is not that easy to sit down and piece together an argumentative essay of 1000 words and above. I might have done even worse if I were in their shoes. To that end, I will say they all did marvelously well.
Infoscope and Deschyko both wrote in opposition to the motion that Strike is a wrong approach to solving Nigeria’s Educational problems. They took a rather unpopular stance as it would appear that more contestants were in favor of the motion. Their provision of historical details of the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ (ASUU) strike in Nigeria goes to show that they were well versed on the topic.
However I would say that their work lacked the desired persuasiveness. The two contestants were quick to blame the Federal Government for all the woes betiding the educational sector but they were slow to explaining why strike is a BETTER approach. Infact, I had even thought Infoscope was in support of the motion when I was reading paragraphs four (4) and five (5) until I got to the sixth (6th) paragraph. This statement of his below was responsible for my confusion:
I think he shot himself on the foot by making that comment.
Deschyko’s statement that “five out of the nine agreements [between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government (FG)] focuses (sic) on the improvement of educational standard and quality in the country” is very apt as it could counter the notion that ASUU embarked on the strike solely for selfish reasons. But he however failed to mention and elaborate on all five agreements. In fact, a lay reader might not even know which group reached the agreement and what the agreement was all about.
However I must not fail to commend both Deschyko and Infoscope’s command of diction, their well sequenced paragraphs and correct spellings. That being said, there is still room for improvement.
Don Salvy, Sammytolly4Jesus and Mikebis all wrote against the motion that Geniuses are born not made.
Sammytolly4Jesus work was okay. I really loved his play with words especially the following: “we weren’t (sic) born with the alphabets imprinted on our foreheads,” “a chauffeur also wasn’t (sic) born with wheels in his hands,” and “Lionel Messi. . .wasn’t (sic) born with football in his legs.” Those expressions were very apt and really spiced up his work. Despite the rich content and examples, his work was very poor in persuasiveness. I felt he could have done more to convince his readers. He failed to explain and establish beyond reasonable doubt, the difference between Child Prodigy and Genius and this is enough to weaken his argument’s foundation. Conclusively, I will say Sammy did well. I really hope he makes it to the next round, same goes for the others.
Despite the scantiness of Don Salvy’s work, I must say his use of the Intelligent Quotient (IQ) score to buttress his argument was quite impressive. His illustrations were very explanatory and clear. But, like I said earlier, his essay is very scanty.
The same might be said for mikebis. It would seem mikebis did not finish his work, probably due to time constraints or internet logistics as his conclusion was very poor. However his mentioning of the three ways by which geniuses are made (Learning, Thinking Ability and Determination) was quite inspirational. He would have done a lot better with his argument if he had committed more time, resources and energy towards it.
So that is my appraisal, folks. I wish all the contestants the best. Let us remember that this competition is not a do-or-die affair. The essence of this debate is not for superiority display but for us to learn from each other and keep our brains busy by engaging in healthy arguments. May the best four make it to the next round. Amen.
Expect more appraisals from the other judges. Bravo! Well said, mate. I've learnt a few things from your review . |
