TV/MoviesRe: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by Illuminatus(m): 2:44pm On Oct 20, 2013
I LOVE this show! I just finished the second season though. I love the suspense, thrill and mystery. There's a lot strategies and conspiracies. I don't like the sex scenes much, so I always use my remote controll.
That Dorthraki guy, Rahkori and Jon Snow are the hottest guys in the series!
Daneyrs and Arya are my favourite characters.
The writers and creators of this series did a very good job. No funny stuff yet.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Are Nigerian Churches So Noisy? by Illuminatus(m): 12:38pm On Oct 20, 2013
Good question. There's a particular church that holds on the other side of the fence in my house. They hold activities almost everyday. They singing (or should I say crocking) is very disturbing.
EducationRe: School Or Eduucation? by Illuminatus(m): 12:34pm On Oct 20, 2013
Dammy4all: I totally agree that School is a Place where Former "A" Students teach "B" students how to work for "C" Students.
That's why the Forbes List has more college dropouts than Graduates (including Richard Brandson, Ellen DeGeneres of Ellen show), Ralph Lauren, Bill Gates, Abramovich of Chelsea, Zuckerberg of Facebook, and former Presidential aspirants, Senators McCain graduated 894th out of 899th, and Abraham Lincoln dropped out of too, thats why Oyedepo, a third class graduates owns a School, Tony elumelu (UBA) owns a bank, Warren buffet at 1 was concentrating more on accumulating over 400 acres of farmland that he later leased to his "A" grade classmate.
Thats why you went to School, Read (or Cheated) to get good grades so that your "Street-Smart" boss can employ you to work your life away!
School is good but its not the same thing as Education, so you can get good grades without education. We need Praticals concept to succeed.
If you knew better, You'd do better.
Enjoy!!!

Point noted. Thanks for reading but I'm even more thankful that you took out time to give us your honest criticism.

Mazi_Omenuko: We all know that the present strike is as a result of the non-implementation of the 2009 'negotiations and dialog'. Like I pointed out in my essay, you can't be doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. The federal govt has proven to be unfaithful in implementing memorandum of understanding.

Strike is the only language the govt understands; and it will continue to yield needed results.

Btw; ASUU informed the FGN of their intention to embark on strike before going on strike; yet the FGN gave them that go-to-hell attitude.
Like you said, if you keep doing the same thing for a long time, it tends to become boring. Probably, the Federal Government has become adapted to the threat of strike and strike action itself.
EducationRe: Educational Debate Phase One: Essay Submission [discussion Thread] by Illuminatus(m): 8:12pm On Oct 19, 2013
Mazi_Omenuko: @illuminatus; I don't quite agree with you when you said that strike makes the student's mental energy to waste away while at home. My cousin, who was affected by the strike is currently learning some programming languages during this period of time. There are cases of other students engaging in one fruitful venture or the other; so the idea of a student turning to a slowpoke if he is not within the four walls of the university is a myopic school of thought.

In the same vein, the young students that venture into crime and smoking due to strike will eventually venture into crime and smoking during vacation as lectures don't hold during vacations. So we can't blame strike if a student is bound to venture into crimes.
Your cousin is just...your cousin. One sample from the population. He is really lucky. Yes, some students are already predisposed to doing bad things, but we must blame the strike for giving them the opportunity to do them.
Moreover, some students who would like to be employed during this can't because they don't have certification for such.

Nwajiogeri: i believe you mean the industrial court and i'm aware that its the slowest court in the nation. Last month, the Association of Nurses and midwives embarked on a strike because the ruling of an industrial court was appealed by the federal govt. The association got tired of waiting for the result of the appeal and decided to embark on a strike. What i'm saying in effect is that it takes forever for such cases to be decided. Do u suggest that ASUU await for such long periods: and without any conviction that the said govt wil even implement the court ruling as the govt has, in many cases, disregarded court injunctions?
It is true that our courts are infamous for the duration it takes them to dispense justice (a topic for another day) so the union won't have to sit ducks waiting the entire time. They could lobby with the government. They can also involve the masses in their struggle. The masses are a powerful force (exhibited by what happened when the fuel subsidy was momentarily removed some time ago) and if the union has done things a little differently they might have had the masses full support and the government will shift ground more quickly.

Nwajiogeri: @tosdam, you suported the motion that strike is a wrong approach, but you failed to highlite other possible alternatives apart from dialogue. How wild dialogue possibly solve the problems when ASUU has had loads of dialogues in time past all to no avail?
What other means wil you suggest when dialog fails as seen with the current ASUU vs FGN crises?
Like I pointed out in my essay, the unions can file the case in court.

I agree that all the results shouldn't be published. It'll be immature to spill that on here. It should be sent to the contestants. If the public doesn't trust the judges, well... We'll get to that.
