I don't think he will make a good minister. He is too old for the current world.

The man didn't even know the name of the deputy senate president (I hope he evenknow he was the deputy senate president)

my opinion - Senate should not confirm him, the worst so far
That northern senator was trying to ask him about vocational education, not functional education. There's nothing called functional education in this context, and the Prof. couldn't even process or correct that. He just went along and said he supports functional education.

The root cause of Lagos traffic is population, Lagos is overpopulated. The best way to solve that is to decongest the state. This can done by developing other states, especially neighbouring states. Or by a cooperation of the Southwest states and the FG to build a modern railway system that connects Lagos reliably. If people can steadily get to Lagos in one-two hours on trains from Ekiti, Ondo, Osun,Ogun, Edo, they'll rather live there and work in Lagos. House rent and living conditions will also be better.

Politics › Buhari's Al Jazeera Interview With Mehdi Hassan (transcript) And Video. by Image123(op): 6:24pm On Oct 18, 2015
Okay, so President Buhari was interviewed by Mehdi Hasan in the Al-Jazeera English programme "Upfront". Mehdi Hasan is a 36year old, British Indian political journalist that has had work stints with BBC1, Channel 4, the Huffington Post, and of course presently Al-Jazeera English. He's known for his courtroom like, brash and maybe harsh style of interviews. Recall he was the one who interviewed Oby Ezekwensili in that Head to Head programme(Head to Head - Nigeria's future- Failed state or African superpower) still available on YouTube, where he was trying to get her to say that Obasanjo was corrupt. She did say her fair share of "listen to mes" during the interview. It's therefore some kudos to President Buhari and his team that they are not shying away or afraid of speaking with and to the press both internationally and locally. It's not easy to speak on BBC's Hardtalk, or with CNN's Christine Amanpour or Al-Jazeera's Mehdi Hasan. In my assessment, President Buhari did excellently well in taking the questions, and even the interview in the first place. He's shown great poise, class, intellect, and a fairly good view of the issues discussed. I'm certain many newspaper reports will be coming and have started coming from the things said and unsaid in the about 12minute interview. For the benefits of a wider coverage and reading who can easily access NL and read, as against watching on Al-Jazeera or YouTube, here is the transcript of the interview. Thank you for thanking me smiley smiley smiley

Mehdi Hasan: President Buhari, thanks for joining me on "Upfront". Earlier this year, you became the leader of a country facing a huge drop in the price of its biggest export oil, with corruption out of control, and with boko haram still massacring hundreds of Nigerians month after month. Is it fair to say that your country is in a state of crises?

PMBuhari: Yes certainly, we have being going through crises which we properly articulated during our campaigns, and we properly identified security, problem of economy, unemployment and corruption as you've mentioned. But since we were sworn in, I believe positive actions have been taken and the results are very clear to us here, and to those who are keenly observing our development. We have been able to re-organize the military. They are being trained, they are in the process of re-equipping, they are certainly taking and gaining grounds against boko haram.

Mehdi Hasan: Let's talk about boko haram, whose brutal campaign of violence has led to more than 20,000 deaths. Since 2009, more than a million and a half Nigerians displaced from their homes in the North of the country. You've told your army chiefs I believe, that you expect boko haram to be defeated by the end of this year, by December. Surely that's completely unachievable, that's a fantasy deadline.

PMBuhari: Well, you're entitled to your own opinion. When I gave the service chiefs the target of end of December, it's because I'm physically on the ground. And maybe you'll like to recall that we have got Lake Chad Basin Commission comprising Cameroun, Chad, Niger, Nigeria and Benin. And it's known that Nigeria is the main battleground. And we have agreed among ourselves to dedicate a number of troops in certain places by the end of last month, so that with the coming of the DRY SEASON by the end of the year, there will be a spontaneous move against Boko Haram in their area of operation in the subregion.

Mehdi Hasan: You say you want them defeated by December. They've spent the past week blowing up targets in Nigeria, in Cameroun, in Chad. more than a thousand people have been killed by boko haram since you were elected President in March of this year. Things don't seem to be getting any better, Nigerians don't seem to be any safer.

PMBuhari: On the ground, physically, things are getting better. I've just mentioned that after the re-organization, we put new service chiefs. Troops that were in the front were pulled back, re-trained, re-equipped and sent back again. And if you are observing clearly, the area of operations. The two states, mainly Borno and Yobe, boko haram is MAINLY reduced now to using IEDs(Improvised Explosive Devices).

Mehdi Hasan: Mr President, a thousand people dead since you were elected President. That doesn't sound like Nigerians are safer from boko haram.
PMBuhari: Well, at least we're being honest about it. Whenever there is an attack, there are casualties, we mention it. We don't hide anything from anybody. But definitely, in terms of occupying ground, we are gaining ground, and boko haram is virtually being confined to Sambissa forest. And with night operations, well coordinated, they are really disorganized. And as soon as the rainy season(caveat, he obviously meant dry season and said so earlier, and every Nigerian knows so about the coming harmattan/dry season at the end of the year) comes, which is by the end of the year, coinciding by what promise we made, boko haram will virtually be out of their main stronghold. And that will be the end of it. But what we cannot guarantee really, is the question of using IEDs(Improvised Explosive Devices) in public places. That operation by boko haram MAY continue beyond the target that we gave. But articulated attack by boko haram on townships, on military installations will certainly stop.

Mehdi Hasan: And if you don't meet your December deadline what will you do, will you apologize, will you resign, what's the repercussions if you don't meet your deadline?
PMBuhari: Well, one thing you will certainly remember, I will not resign. I will be determined to stay and fight it out.

Mehdi Hasan: Okay, and it's been 18 months now since more than 200 Chibok school girls were taken captive by boko haram, they are still not yet been found. When you were running for President, you said to Al-Jazeera that the then government knew where they were, and you attacked your predecessor for not given a quote "cohesive reason" as to why he couldn't rescue the girls. Now you are in charge of the government, so why haven't you been able to find them yet?

PMBuhari: We have an idea of where the girls are. Our main problem is, and what we promised to the constituencies of where these girls were abducted is that we want to rescue them alive. There are boko haram leadership that wanted us to discuss, but we have to prove that they are bona fide. We want to make sure, they have to prove to us that they are alive, they are well, and then we can promise them and negotiate with them.

Mehdi Hasan: So you will negotiate with them, you will do a deal with boko haram, offer them money or a prisoner exchange. You're willing to do that to get the girls back?

PMBuhari: Yes, we said it, and we meant it. If we are satisfied that the girls are alive.

Mehdi Hasan: What will you offer, what will you offer if they are alive, money or prisoners?

PMBuhari: Well, it depends on the negotiation with the leadership of boko haram.

Mehdi Hasan: The Nigerian military hasn't just failed to defeat boko haram, it has also carried out massive human right abuses in the process. The U.S States Department, the European parliament, human Rights Watch, Amnesty International all documented extra-judicial killings, torture, arbitrary arrests, burning down of homes, plenty of abuses by the Nigerian military. What are you doing as President, and as a former General to stop all of that from happening?

PMBuhari: We promised to investigate and punish all those that are responsible.

Mehdi Hasan: You say you're going to investigate and prosecute. Amnesty International opened an office this week inside of Nigeria. but have you done what Amnesty have recommended? they've given you the names of several senior military officers who should be investigated for war crimes. You've sacked a couple of them, but have you actually investigated them, are you going to prosecute those 9 named individuals that Amnesty International have given you? (Caveat; cheesy O fe ko igbo si Baba lápo)

PMBuhari: I haven't received that report personally. But the re-organization of the military is part of the compliance with the observation raised by Amnesty International. If I get those documents, the way you seem to be so confident that we have received them.

Mehdi Hasan: They're available publicly online, they were published a month after you took office. Your spokesperson acknowledged that he's read the report, names are out there, and you haven't investigated or prosecuted anyone as far as we know. Are you going to prosecute the offices who were accused of committing war crimes?

PMBuhari: It's very difficult for me to start prosecuting people based on a newspaper publication. I made an undertaking that if I get that report, I will take action. the person you said my spokesperson said I have seen the report. I don't think any of my spokesperson, my bona fide spokesperson has given me that report and I just put it in the waste basket or somewhere.

Mehdi Hasan: Mr President, this is not a new report, this has been on for years. John Kerry the US Secretary of States talked about Human Rights violation by the Nigerian military in 2013. human rights watch documented the burning of homes, torture in 2014. This is not a new allegation?

PMBuhari: What I want, I want us to go beyond talking. All you are telling me, that the United States Secretary of State have talked about it, Amnesty International have written... And I have told you that I haven't received these authentic documents that you are referring to. When I get that document, I read it, I assure you that those that are guilty will be identified, they will be punished according to Nigerian laws.

Mehdi Hasan: Okay well, the Human rights group have put the evidence out there for several years now. can I just clarify with you. boko haram claim to support what they call "Sharia law". They stone women to death, they cut the hands off of thieves, do you yourself. I know you're a Muslim from Northern Nigeria. Do you support the imposition of these types of punishment across Nigeria, because there's a quote from you from 2001, where you allegedly say "God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of the Sharia in the country". Is that still your view, Mr President?

PMBuhari: Nigerians by their constitution have the right to pursue any religion that they want to. But there is a fundamental issue here, No religion advocates hurting the innocent. Boko haram are finding it difficult to get volunteers voluntarily now. Because they can't go and slaughter children in their sleep, kill people in churches, kill people in mosques, in motor parks,(Mehdi cuts in) in markets and shout 'allah akbar'

Mehdi Hasan: Mr President, we all agree on,,, I'm asking about punishments?

PMBuhari: Will you allow me to finish please. they can't kill people, innocent people and shout "Allah akbar". they either don't believe God is great, or they don't know what they are talking about. This clearly, nigerians in the constituency where boko haram are executing people, cutting hands, stoning them as you mentioned, have understood that. Boko haram is anything but Islamic. This is very clear, we've said it, we put it in writing and we've mentioned it.

Mehdi Hasan: You are very clear on that and I think we all agree that boko haram are not the godly people that they claim to be. I'm asking you about the punishments, that do you support the stoning for adultery, or cutting of hands as part of Nigerian law across nigeria? Some say you support it.

PMBuhari: NO, Nigerian law does not allow for that.

Mehdi Hasan: And you don't want to change the law to allow stoning or any of these more brutal punishments to be brought in?

PMBuhari: I cannot change it, I haven't been voted by majority of Nigerians to change the Nigerian Constitution.

Mehdi Hasan: Just before we finish, one last question. You ran for on a campaign of CHANGE. You were the CHANGE candidate. Many people will say that you are a 72yr old ex-general, military ruler, military dictator in the 1980s. How are you the change that Nigerians want, that young Nigerians are so keen for, and can you guarantee that you won't be a dictator again?

PMBuhari: Under this system, I cannot be a dictator. I have just told you the system we are following now. The people I wanted to be in my cabinet, i have to send them to the Senate. And it's up to the Senate to find them suitable or unsuitable to be in the cabinet. Whateverthe Senate broughtr back by the constitution of our country, I have to act on it.

Mehdi Hasan: Do you regret your rule in the 80s, you were accused of human rights abuses, of being a dictator, of clamping down the press, do you regret that period of your life now that you're a democrat?

PMBuhari: If there is any injustice that can be proved against me when I was there, I will gladly apologize. But trying to stop corruption and indiscipline is not an injustice. And in fact, my coming back now under a different system is because of my performance in the last time, where I was been accused of dictatorship. Because people have seen the discipline, accountablity, order. And therefore a majority of Nigerians now voted me back under a different system.

Mehdi Hasan:Mr president, I believe we've run out of time, you have to go. thank you so much for joining me on Upfront.

PMBuhari: Very kind of you, thank you.

Buhari on 2 different occasions got the name of his party wrong, called "West Germany" among many other mistakes so don't throw shades at GEJ. However as much as Fashola stuttered, he held the Senate more spell bond than anyone has in recent years. IMO, he is more eloquent than PMB.
People make mistakes, I've seen Obama mix up if he's a Christian or Muslim. Knowing party name or people's names is not as important as the qualities Buhari possesses, intelligence, honesty, patriotism, a respectable level of independence, poise, experience, pedigree etc.

Of course, he supports Sharia and i guess most Muslims do. But that's not the question and supporting or believing it is different from implementation or changing Nigeria Constitution to it. Many christains have their doctrines and views about hell, unbelievers, sin etc. It is different from forcing your personal beliefs on others. Make that demarcation between religion and governance. I'm sure Osinbajo thinks Buhari is an unbeliever and vice versa. Nonetheless, we voted them to govern, not preach.

Did you watch Fashola's appearance before the Senate? That's how not to appear timid no matter who's in front of you.
Buhari was answering the question, instead of giving you and 10naira bloggers misleading headlines for Monday. Hassan tries to harass and hound people he's interviewing, that's his style. But President Buhari took it graciously and presidentially. GEJ stuttered when interviewed or gave weird theories like yam and goat, America will know, terrorism is our turn. He's hardly interviewed too except when he cannot dodge it. That's unlike Buhari who answers intelligently and with poise. Fashola is good but stuttered when asked about loyalty and gave a rubbish answer about signing checks. Buhari was spotless.

11:30 minutes into the interview.
He answered and was answering when interrupted. The question Hassan asked was tied to boko haram's supposed practice of Sharia, it is only logical of Buhari to dissociate what boko haram does from his views. Buhari was impressivel, I'll try doing a transcript of the interview later today if chanced.

vooks:
It us quite unfortunate you IGNORED all the question I asked.
Yes i'm fine and you? BTW, i answered all the questions you asked, maybe you do not like or agree with the answers though.

Jesus is called the first begotten from among the dead yet the dead were rising long before He came on earth. Why is this? His resurrection entailed transformation from physical to spiritual; H rose again to Never die again, His mortality was clothed with immortality while Lazarus died again.
Jesus is INDEED the FIRST begotten from the dead, it is no wordplay. And like you have shown, it is because "He rose again to never die again". That makes His resurrection unique, He was glorified, and so will all believers at the resurrection. His is indeed FIRST of that order, others follow. This is unlike the 'first resurrection' or 'second death' which are phrases related to each other not to some other second or third resurrections, or some first or third deaths.

This mean Jesus was th first to be clothed with immortality.

FIRST RESURRECTION means exactly that global/church resurrection you read of in 1 Corinthians 15, and in 1 Thessalonians.
What is "global resurrection", hope it's not one of those theory of men?(in vooks'voice of course). The term "first resurrection" is simply a phrase used in comparison to the "second death". There is no second resurrection in the sense. It's just like "first Adam"and "last Adam". The emphasis is more of contextual than numeric.

Church age is a theory of men that is 101% unfounded. It is conjecture.
The church age is simply the period we are in now. It is a reality and not a conjecture as we are living in it. We are the church and this is our time, our age. The church age is the period of the church on earth before the rapture.

Here are the questions Image123 just for you wink
Revelation 20:4-6 (KJV)
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

1. There is a resurrection in these verses called FIRST RESURRECTION. Is it your 4:1 resurrection or something different?
Like i have stated, i already answered these questions. The rapture event is different from the event in this text. The rapture event takes place in Revelation 4:1, which is immediately after the church age(Revelation 2 and 3). i answered this here when i said "At what point do we have Rapture, that's chapter4v1."

2. The resurrection of chapter 20 is of or at least includes those who never received the mark which means they must have been exposed to but resisted the mark. Does your 4:1 rapture/resurrection happen before/after the mark/beast?
Answered already, the rapture happens before the tribulation, and before Revelation 20. The terms "the second coming", "the coming of the Lord", "the day of the Lord", "the last day", all bear broad and related/relative meanings. They refer to a long phase of events. i already alluded to this, referring to Christ's first coming to earth. The first coming included many events in about 33years, there is His Birth, His Life, His Death, His Resurrection and His Ascension for instance. His second coming also has series of events lined up, and some are mysterious and symbolized. For instance, the rapture event is a mystery. It's not plain or open for everyone to catch or understand. And of course, neither does understanding of it make anyone more qualified before God or whatever.
And so, Revelations 2 and 3 is what we are experiencing till date. Another phase comes in at 4:1
Rev 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter.

After this, heaven, hereafter, trumpet, these are all pictures that indicate the new phase. In this phase, saints are in Heaven before God, His throne, the Lamb, angels etc, worshipping and praising. Between chapters 4 to 7 or so, you see men and elders in Heaven, different from the souls who will resurrect in the famous Revelation 20.
Rev 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
Rev 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
Rev 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

These were different from the elders, angels and saints busy before the throne and the Lamb in worship. As we later see, some of the angels are fellow humans.
Rev 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Somewhere in chapter 6 is where the tribulation begins, recall that already in chapters4 and 5, saints are in Heaven already worshipping, and they are different from the souls killed in tribulation. The Beast is first mentioned chapter 13 i think. So, there are some people in Heaven already before the beast or his mark.
2Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
2Pe 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

3. The chapter 20 resurrection happens AFTER the beast has been destroyed and cast into the lake of fire towards the end of chapter 19. 2 Thessalonians tells us of a man of sin who will be destroyed at the coming of Jesus. Is it safe to conclude that resurrection happens AFTER the destruction of the beast which happens at the COMING of Jesus?
Like i said from my initial post and have restated, the coming of the Lord is an event spanning a long period. Holistic study of the Bible helps to understand the context, time and event of each passage. The Lord will first "come" FOR His saints(the rapture) before coming WITH His saints/angels/army. One happens in a twinkle of an eye, the other every eye will see Him. The fianl stage of the resurrection will be the resurrection of the tribulation souls as seen in Revelations 20. However, all saints will reign with Christ, and the second death has no power on them.

4. Chapter 20 resurrection is called FIRST RESURRECTION. Is it remotely possible that there was a global resurrection before it, that is supposing for some reason this is not the rapture?
For the umpteenth time, the phrases "the first resurrection"or the "last day" are more of symbolic and contextual, not literal or numeric. The so called last day is not a last 24 hour day. It is a period spanning many years that include resurrection, reigning, and judgment. From all of scriptures, and chronologically looking at Revelations, we see that the Resurrection(call it first resurrection if it makes you more comfortable) is not a single one time event. It is a period, a package, like in government when we say the first republic, that lasts or spans events in about four/five years.

Only God will judge APC for deceiving Nigerians that they have antidote for BH and will end it in TWO months.
God will also judge you for your lies. That a lie is told many times doesn't make it true. Buhari never said he'll end BH in TWO months, he said FEW months, and that was at the Edo state APC presidential campaign rally. Video evidence is free and accessible from channelstv YouTube archives.

Why cant PEJ wait for GEJ and visit the family together as a couple or she's still got the ego running in her??
i am suspecting that guy oh. Seems GEJ was forced to come as everybody and his wife have come, not to arouse suspicion. As usual, he's a forced accomplice even when suspected. He no get mind like Dora.

In 1Thes and 2Thes context, what is the day of the Lord?
For one, the phrase "day of the Lord" appears just once in the epistles to the Thessalonians i think.
1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

Here, he is likely referring to the rapture as that makes perfect sense the surprise. There is no surprise in the literal second coming as everyone sane then will be expecting Him and every eye will see Him. It is no thief in the night venture. He will come and stay for many years. In 2Peter for instance, the day of the Lord is referring to the very end of the world when the elements will be burnt up. i'll likely come back to Thessalonians, but like you adviced someone, let's finish with Revelations. Of course, the sense is there in what that person told you about not building to much on just one part but taking every thing completely and holistically.

2. The resurrection of chapter 20 is of or at least includes those who never received the mark which means they must have been exposed to but resisted the mark. Does your 4:1 rapture/resurrection happen before/after the mark/beast?

4. Chapter 20 resurrection is called FIRST RESURRECTION. Is it remotely possible that there was a global resurrection before it, that is supposing for some reason this is not the rapture?
The term "first resurrection" is simply a phrase used in comparison to the "second death". There is no second resurrection in the sense. It's just like "first Adam"and "last Adam". The emphasis is more of contextual than numeric. In the literal sense, the sinner is dead while alive on earth, then he dies a second time when he dies physically, but there is a second death afterwards. The first resurrection phrase is only found in that passage in all of scriptures BTW. Someone like Lazarus and Tabitha will have issues with a numeric first resurrection as they resurrected when they became believers, then they resurrected when they dies physically, then this first resurrection thing again. All saints are partake in the reigning with Christ and indeed, on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Whether Old Testament or New testament saints, even though the passage is specific on souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, who did not worship the beast. So if you are not beheaded, sorry for you oh my brother, no first resurrection be that, just kidding.

Chapter one of Revelation makes no such distinction between parts for some and not others
This is common Bible knowledge. there are some direct messages in Bible epistles to the direct hearers/recipients, and there are general messages. For instance in Paul's epistles, there are some direct instructions to Timothy or to Alexander the coppersmith etc. In Revelations 2 and 3, there is a particular Jezebel woman, there are some people saying that they are Jews, and are not, there is an Antipas, there are some holding a particular doctrine of Nicolaitanes. The point made though is still that Chapters2 and 3 are letters to the church, things present.

Guesswork. Who made you see ages? Theories of men
Answer the questions above

It's inherent. However, that something may be extrabiblical doesn't necessarily mean that it is wrong. Many health truths, physics truths etc are not in the Bible for instance. In Acts1, it talks of a certain sabbath day's journey. This simply is distance lawfully traveled by a Jew on the Sabbath. This was 2,000 paces or cubits, or seven furlongs and a half - not quite one mile. This is something not in the Bible but is what a sabbath day's journey means. When one says church age, that you don't see it in the Bible doesn't mean there is nothing like that. All you need to find out is the meaning. There is the period referred to as the time of the gentiles. These are simple illustrations, not guesswork. The church age is simply the period from when the church was formed by Christ till the time of the Rapture, when the living church will meet the Lord in the air. We are in that period/age as the church is still here on earth waiting for the Lord.

In this image, what i noticed was the sharp drop in PMS for June. This is a reminder of the sorry state in which the GEJ government left the nation in May when they and the oil marketers held the nation to ransom. The oil marketers imported enough PMS(Petrol) in May but were not paid by the FG as the FG simply didn't care again. That PMS was howevwer sold in the following month of June, hence the sharp drop in import for that month. This again shows that what wounded us in May truly reflected in this report. Also, from this data we are barely consuming 30million litres of PMS daily, we should take note. The FG used to tell us that we consume around 42million litres daily anytime they are calculating and justifying their high subsidy payments. 30million is different from 42million, they are not the same at all, especially when it is daily and used to calculate annual budget.
This point was made today at the Senate's ministerial screening of Ibe Kachukwu. The NNPC concerns all of us as it affects all of us.
