The IIAG, which has been published since 2007, provides a comprehensive assessment of governance across the African continent.

It evaluates countries based on various metrics, including security, rule of law, economic opportunities, human development, and participation in democratic processes.

The data is collected from 49 independent sources to gauge how well African countries have managed governance over the years.

In Nigeria’s case, the 2024 report highlighted significant governance failures. The country scored poorly on key indicators, such as security and rule of law (39%), accountability and transparency (47.3%), and anti-corruption efforts, where it received a particularly low score of 28.9%.

The report also revealed that Nigeria’s performance on social protection, inclusion, equality, and infrastructure remained low, contributing to its poor governance rating.

Moreover, the report shows that the governance crisis in Africa is part of a continental trend, as security challenges and shrinking democratic spaces have hampered progress

Mo Ibrahim, the foundation’s chair, stated that the governance backslide in countries like Nigeria threatens the economic and social development gains made in recent years.

He noted that while the challenges are global, they are especially problematic for Africa, where long-standing developmental issues are exacerbated by these governance failures.

Despite the worrying trends, the report did highlight success stories across the continent. Countries such as Seychelles, Gambia, and Sierra Leone showed improvement in governance.

Seychelles, for instance, overtook Mauritius as the best-governed African nation, showcasing that progress is possible even amid broader continental challenges.

In contrast, Nigeria finds itself grouped with countries like Sudan, Mozambique, and Senegal, all of which experienced significant governance deterioration in the last decade.

The report alluded to in that link isn't the official UN report, it's a preliminary fact finding mission by the UN Special representative of the Secretary General on Sexual violence in conflict, Pramila Patten

1. There was no meeting with any of the victims of the alleged rape. The report stated " The mission team did not meet with any survivor/victim of sexual violence from October 7 despite concerted efforts encouraging them to come forward".

2. It stated clearly there's no footage or picture of rape

3. The team only met with Israeli representatives and went to only a few locations

4. It concluded it has 'reasonable grounds' to believe sexual violence has occurred based on 'evidences' given by 'authorities' (obviously Israeli authorities)

5. The report clearly stated that the mission "neither intended to, and nor could the mission team, in such a short period of time, establish the prevalence of conflict related sexual violence during and after the October 7 attacks"

6. It stated that "In the medicolegal assessment of available photos and videos, no tangible indications of rape could be identified”

7. It also stated "While the mission team reviewed extensive digital material depicting a range of egregious violations, no digital evidence specifically depicting acts of sexual violence was found in open sources”

The report is available online, you can download it and concludes it couldn't establish rape

About the failure of the Camp David agreement, are you aware of the terms of the proposed agreement?

1. Israel would annex large parts of the West Bank and maintain security control over the other parts. Meaning the West Bank would be cut into three and the PA wouldn't have control of security in any area it controls. This meant Palestinians would need israeli permission to move from one part of the Palestinian State to another

2. Israel would have sovereignty over 'bypass roads', which are roads that cut across the West Bank, which disconnect different parts of the West Bank and the roads would be official Israeli territory.

3. Control of the border with Jordan would remain in Israeli hands. This meant Palestinians would have no control over their borders

4. Israel would take over the West Bank's most fertile lands, which also contained most of the region's scarce water aquifers and in exchange, Israel would give up a part of the Negev desert, which is about one-tenth of what it would annex and it included a toxic waste dump

Arafat wasn't a madman to accept those terms, and is it a surprise that an American President sided with Israel?
